Last month I went in for a 1-on-1 session with Ebony. I was a complete makeup beginner going into the class, and Ebony was so kind & patient. We did an everyday look and a more evening look, plus Ebony recommended products that would work well for me. I loved the way the class was structured - Ebony applied the makeup to one side of my face, and she gave tips while I applied the other side. Highly recommend, it was so fun & I learned A TON!

I graduated in 2018 and I was just so impressed with the quality of instruction. My instructor, Ren, was always pleasant, knowledgeable, and fun. Even when I felt my least confident, she was always so supportive. Perhaps the best thing about IMA is the level of support AFTER you graduate. I still hear from them consistently, whether theyre offering master classes, socials, work opportunities, or general updates. Both Eboni and Ren are incredibly skilled and it is such a joy to know them.

As an aspiring MUA looking for a way to branch out this course was exactly what I was looking for. You get to learn real techniques needed in the Makeup world with plenty of opportunities.

I began researching makeup academies in March 2020. Industry Makeup Academy was the very first school to pop up on Google. I reviewed all the information on the website and even sent direct messages on their Instagram page. I received quick responses to all my questions. My virtual tour was May 11, 2020 with Jasmine. She made me feel comfortable about asking whatever continued questions I had. After the tour I was confident in making the decision to pay tuition for the 32-hour weekend course. I was so grateful that Industry Makeup Academy let me book the May 2020 class even in the midst of COVID-19. IMA implemented safety and workspace guidelines for compliance. Ironically, I was the sole student for the May class but I enjoyed every minute nonetheless. Renelyn Thomas is an amazing instructor and represents IMA with professionalism and industry knowledge. I wish I had met more students and staff, but I could not have enjoyed my experience any more than I did. I was so nervous but Renelyn assured me every step of the way. I was already self-taught, but knew I needed to attend IMA for in-depth makeup classes. I learned everything from sanitation, skincare, color theory, industry marketing and mens grooming! This class is worth every penny! If you want to challenge yourself to become educated and more skilled, then this is the academy for you! Im ready to start my business!

I recently had a one-on-one session with Ebony! She was so knowledgeable and sweet. She helped create an everyday makeup look for me that fit into my schedule and reflected my personality. She taught me about my skin type and recommended nice reasonable priced products. I would recommend the one-on-one session for anyone that is not into makeup but wants to learn how to do their own! I hope that they will have more classes for people who want to learn about makeup without becoming a makeup artist!

This was such a great experience. I already knew a lot from watching YouTube and practicing on myself. I am self taught. The things I learned here makes me feel so much more confident. I only could afford the 60 hour class right now but I will be taking the other 40 hours at the beginning of next year so I can have the 100 hour certificate.I do recommend this school.

Can’t wait to start, sorry you got “ONE” bad review, there’s ALWAYS ONE in the bunch. The idea is to come in and learn hands-on experience, YouTube has nothing on first hand experience. Plus, you get to meet and interact with others, maybe that person just couldn’t afford it, and wanted to waste her money foolishly from the start. 🤔

I attended IMA back in the fall of 2017. What drew me to them was that their education was specialized in makeup, not hair or nails, and the different class schedules you could choose from. They taught basic skills, emphasized on experience with applying makeup to others- not just gaining knowledge on makeup itself, and then expanded on that by certifying us in airbrush and sfx makeup too! The instructors are extremely informative and experienced AND relatable! They not only teach but they have fun with you too. I highly encourage anyone looking to become a certified makeup artist to attend IMA!

Ebony is great at teaching and will help you one on one if you’re just not getting something! I have learned so much from IMA and am excited to start my make up career! I feel like a makeup pro compared to how much I knew before taking the class!!

I really think the instructors here care about their students. My work schedule suddenly changed in the middle of the course and they were nice enough to let me make up the days I missed by coming to the night class. I had the chance to learn from Ebony & Ren too! Both of them are really great at what they do. I am an Esthetician already and I did this because I get a lot of soon to be brides & I wanted to add makeup on my menu.

I love this place! I attended IMA waaay back in 2016 and am still able to remember everything Ebony taught me! After I graduated, I felt confidence enough to try out for MAC and I got the job! I have since gone back to brush up on skills and learn new techniques with Ren and again I have been able to utilize everything she taught me. IMA is so worth it and I highly recommend to anyone who is serious/passionate about a career in the beauty industry. ❤️

Waste of money. Waste of time. Honestly didn’t learn anything I can’t gather from YouTube. Also ebony you’re not a great instructor. I will forever wish I had saved my money for anything more useful.

After comparing a few different schools, I thought Industry Makeup Academy would be the best fit for me. Ebony is a great instructor. I learned much more than I thought I would: skin types, eye sets, contour/highlight, ingredients, and finishing. I would definitely recommend it.

I am a former IMA student and I have to say attending IMA was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The instructors care about your growth and success as a makeup professional. You are given all the tools you need and then some to start your makeup career upon graduation. I would highly recommend IMA to anyone seeking a career as professional makeup artist.
