I took both the 2-day beginner permit class as well as the 1-day returning rider endorsement class at WMST in Auburn to get my motorcycle endorsement. Theory was in a small classroom in the Outlet Mall and practice at a parking lot nearby. For the beginner course I used a motorcycle from the school. They have a good selection and modern bikes (many BMW 310s with ABS).The courses were efficiently designed to help us succeed getting our motorcycle endorsement and developing the necessary skills. Throughout the 2 classes I had 4 instructors in total (1 is holding theory, assisted by 1 more at the range). All of the instructors were very friendly and professional. I learned a lot throughout the classes and my riding skills improved significantly.I can only recommend WMST for anyone looking to get a motorcycle endorsement. I would just caution to manage expectations. Riding a motorcycle is challenging and can be intimidating for some (e.g. fear of leaning). So come with realistic expectations for what you can achieve when taking a 1- or 2-day course.

Was hurried in explaining their process, just wanted me to pay her. Said, oh my God because she didnt feel like explaining the course rules. Isnt that suposed to be your job?I highly recommend Puget Sound Safety. Good, courteous staff and experienced trainers.

This is coming after speaking directly with one of the owners and then after an email directly to the facility. After no response I felt I need to share my experience. This place only cares about your money. I signed up for the Beginner riders course with no experience on a motorcycle. The class was with Randy and Misha, and the first day was really awful. The class rushes you through the exercises before you really get a chance to master anything, but the worst part was Randy. No social distance conscious, touching women on the shoulder, sexist comments, it all made us very anxious. I dropped a bike twice that was too heavy for me, and then they put me on a smaller one that couldnt stay idle. As someone who never rode before, i never got to experience a bike that worked for me. I felt distracted and uncomfortable. The second day one of the owners came to apologize for Randys actions, and spoke on how Misha stood up fro us. I appreciated that, but while Misha was friendly, during the actual instruction, it was hard to understand her directions. Most of us in the class were confused about how to proceed during the course. She would demo the exercises and tell us it was ok to put our foot down. So all of the girls practiced that.During the actual permit test, all the women failed because we put our foot down or went past the line. It was appalling after all that happened. They even sent a young kid home because he was twenty minutes late, which i understand, but after the kid left, she would continue talking about it to us behind his back. This place doesnt care about you or if you succeed on the motorcycle. I left crying after the ordeal, drenched from the rain, and felt used. Stay away from this place at all costs. I called Evergreen and they were so friendly, a huge difference from what I experienced here.Stay away.

I just completed the 3-day Basic Rider Course, with Sholanda as the main instructor and Brent as additional coach on the range. I had a good experience. They were both knowledgeable (very important) and good instructors (even more important.) They were good at seeing the things you might be struggling with, and giving useful feedback to address those issues.

I loved my experience with this training program. I have never ridden before and on a whim I bought a Can Am Ryker. I thoroughly enjoyed my training, the instructors were fun and engaging while being very educational. I credit their training for saving my life. Less than a month after getting my endorsement, I was riding my tryke on the highway when a pregnant doe ran out into traffic. I clearly heard my instructors voice stop or swerve! I choice to hard stop and duck she hit my handle bars and rolled up over my back and ran off. The instructors had taught me the skills to have my head on a swivel and what to do to avoid catastrophe. Thank you!

I really enjoyed the classes and instructors were awesome...however the equipment left alot to be desired. The bike i was on had idle issues. Engine would rev out of control with no hand on the trottle. When this happens the bike would shoot forward even if youre trying to brake using both breaks. I was not given a better maintained motorcycle And failed do to my inability to control and stop properly while engine is reving incredibly high. Good instructors but badly maintaind equipment.

I had an excellent experience. Kat was our main instructor in the classroom, and had Chuck assisting her out on the course. Kat is funny, witty, and upbeat, which helped make the learning less boring and mundane. Chuck was also funny, witty, and upbeat out on the course. But both were very strict when they needed to be. Provided great instructions on the course, and helpful tips and tricks for each individual when needed. I would highly recommend this course, this location, and these two instructors, if youre able to book their class.

I’m giving five stars because honestly that’s what is deserved. I truly didn’t have the best experience my first time here at this school and I truly think it’s because a novice rider assumes that basic rider course means for beginners but it actually is not. The basic to me seems to stand for you only learning the very basics to operating a 2 wheeled vehicle then go to a parking lot and practice more LOL. The basic course is very fast paced so if you are timid/scared then you should probably start with Kickstart for beginners. Their are several skills that you have to master in a short amount of time so I don’t think they are trying to rush the students that’s just the pace for that course. I think it would be really great to really specify this on your website so people don’t waste money going to the wrong class and potentially hurting yourself because you are pushing yourself beyond your limits. I am so thankful that Chuck pulled me to the side to do a wellness check because even though I could have kept going I didn’t need to. It was very hot and I was extremely overwhelmed at the pace. If I would have went to the kickstart class my experience would have been more positive. He is an amazing instructor and has inspired me to always continue learning and taking classes. It still took me three tries to pass the skills portion for my permit (over half the class failed) but honestly you don’t want someone to just give you a permit or endorsement and then you’re not properly prepared to ride on the street then you could possibly get hurt or worse. Kat is also a very great instructor. Every instructor I encountered was encouraging and fair. Please don’t expect things to just be given to you, earn it. All I ask is that you work on your website and make it more user friendly so people are signing up for the appropriate classes. Still got to come back and get tested for my endorsement so hope I don’t make anybody mad lol. I have been practicing all winter😂

I have never ridden a motorcycle before and I took the BRC (basic rider course) 2 day class. I had Dan and Kelsey for instructors. I felt like they were really in a rush to be done instead of taking the time to teach us. The class felt very stressful and not very fun. Since the class was so large, 12 people, I don’t feel like we got enough time to practice. At the end of the class you get to take the endorsement test and I failed. Each day the class ended early and only 4 people passed the driving test at the end of the class.I went back the next week and took the ARS (additional riding session). I highly recommend the instructor named Stew. He was kind, encouraging and actually helped build my confidence. He took his time answering all of my questions and giving amazing instruction. He actually seemed like he enjoyed his job and was having fun. The smaller class size helped a lot too. I highly recommend first time riders taking both classes to build confidence.I also recommend calling the office if you don’t see an available class on the website in your area. I called in about the ARS course and they opened the online registration 15 min later. Before I called in the class was listed as full.

They were both informative and made the course a blast! They were fair and genuinely cared about the safety and performance of the riders in the course. I had two months of riding with my permit and was thinking of skipping the course but with my friends urging me to still take the course, I did and still took away a lot of valuable skills. I definitely recommend this course to anyone. Also a shout out to all the classmates who made the course equally fun.

My teacher was Kelsey, she was energetic and engaged the classroom with questions which made the time fly by and helped me learn quickly. She was funny, and upbeat which made it not boring at all. When we got to ride the bikes I was a nervous wreck because Id never rode a motorcycle, a dirt bike, or even a manual car! The first few exercises I kept killing the engine, it was poring rain and cold. I was ready to give up and accept my losses. Kelsey kept encouraging me to continue and gave me one on one attention to resolve the issue of me stalling all the time. As the classes went on I seemed to be preforming less than everyone around me, resulting in me tensing up and maneuvering the bike without thinking clearly. Kelsey kept reminding me that I was doing a fantastic job being my first time on a motorcycle and that made me less nervous. She was very personable. By the second day I finally got the hang of it, and when the test came I was confident I could control the bike after only 2 days of practice! The skills you learn in this class are amazing! coming from a new rider with 0 experience and passed the test on the first try :)

I had never been near a motorcycle before and was incredibly nervous about riding one. I didnt know where the clutch was, or even how to get on a motorcycle. Reading some of the other reviews (and about motorcycle culture), I was slightly worried that I would be treated differently because of my skin color. However, the minute I stepped in the class and met Carl (and later, Kat on the range), my fears dissipated. They did an excellent job at teaching me exactly how a motorcycle works and were very patient, kind, and understanding. They created a safe environment to practice learning in, and were amazing teachers.WOuld highly recommend a class with them!

Overall great experience with the 2 day basic riding course. Valuable lessons on the course and in the classroom. Chuck and Joshua are experienced instructors, want to see you succeed, care about your safety, and in the end want you to enjoy riding. If you think you need extra attention from the instructors, seek out a smaller class. Its a small sample size, but watching our 12 person group and a 5 person group take the riding test, the smaller group preformed noticably better. You get plenty of 1-1 coaching even in a large class, just know your ability and aptitude to learn to ride, and decide if you might want more attention.Reading the other reviews, here are some tips. Be on time. No excuse there. You cannot complain about losing your payment when you willingly agreed to it, and can plan ahead to make it well ahead of time. Be humble. This will take time and dedication to master, and even if you pass the course, riding may not be for you. And thats totally ok.

Had a good time and learned more than I thought. Only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because on the range, I felt as though each exercise was kind of rushed. It seemed as though the second that everyone met the standard, they than just moved onto the next exercise. Really would have liked to of practiced more swerving, shifting, etc... but I guess I’ll just need to practice on my own. But it was enough to pass so all is good.

Both of them worked hard to make the experience a lot of fun. Their bikes were nice and well maintained. Classroom -in the Supermall in Auburn- was well appointed and NOT loud as some other reviewers suggested (Classes were Monday and Tuesday- maybe that helped). We started with 9. One bailed out on day one because of physical limitations, one failed the practical test. 7 passes!

Took the class with chuck and Steve and I noticed another guy struggling for most of the class but they didn’t let him go. They kept working with him and at the end of the day he passed and got his endorsement.Point is it is not fair in my opinion to kick someone out the class just because they struggled with an exercise. The course is $260 so I guess it benefits them if they kick you out and make you pay for the course again.

While others showed up with no gear I showed up with all my gear! I was early every day. I never rode a motorcycle before and was super nervous! My husband took the course 4 years ago and has been riding everyday. I really wanted to ride with him and he said they are awesome instructors. I didnt see it that way! We left almost two hours early every day and that wouldve been okay if the instructors treated everyone the same. While taking the test I did it all by myself with no help and others were helping each other. I saw people fail and given more chances to pass. When I went up and turned in my test the instructor said here is a Spanish test and didnt tell me the answers that were wrong or right. I was totally confused why he think because Im Mexican I need a Spanish test. I failed with a 72 percent and didnt feel like I was given the same chances everyone else had. Before the ride test the instructor went up to everyone and handed them info on what to do at the DOL and how to pick up your license. The instructor never gave me any information and turned his head when looking my way. Some people had scooters and some people had motorcycles. I had a motorcycle and passed the first 3 tests. After the 4th test the instructor told me to wait so he could tell me what to do. He never came to me and told me to go to the next round. He came over to me and said I had failed and couldnt take the last test. I was confused and asked him why I didnt get to go a second time and he just said you failed. At that point I was so disappointed and sad. I was kicking butt and doing awesome and he failed me! Others were messing up a lot and still passed and getting two chances on each test and hitting cones and putting feet down and they all still passed. The instructor said if you stall two times you fail. I stalled one time on test 4 and he failed me. While everyone got two chances to pass each test he only gave me one. He didnt let me do test 4 again. I couldnt believe it. I was so excited to practice riding with my husband and use the gear we bought. Anyways if they instructors treated everyone equally it would be a good course. How am I supposed to practice riding when I dont have an endorsement and now take another test and they fail me again. Im going to go through another place and pay another fee. These instructors should know that everyone who passes like my husband will still practice a lot after and wont just go to the freeway and ride!! I was so excited to ride with my husband and my husband was in shock when I said I Failed. My husband passed the written and ride with a 100 percent first try and he said he saw many people try over and over on the written and still passed. Again if they treat everyone equal it would be great. And leaving almost two hours early each day doesnt help people if your just going to fail them. I feel like they where racist towards me.

I recently took both the written and practical tests for a Washington 3-wheel endorsement as part of converting on OR license to WA. I didnt take any instruction - just the tests. I was able to get most of the info I needed from their website, and an email I sent late in the day asking a few questions was returned promptly. The examiner - Ken - was friendly and a did a great job explaining both testing formats, and as far as I could tell did a good job sticking to the state mandated script for the practical test while still be friendly. The only issue I had with the process was some miscommunication about the start time of the written - I had one email that said 10:30am, one that said 10am, the website said 10:30am and I was told 10am on the phone. I showed up before ten, the examiner came in just before ten and thought I was to start at 10:30 - he did let me start right away though.I strongly recommend taking the 3-wheel course prior to testing particularly if you dont have a LOT of experience. The test is not complex but its a little odd, and while I passed with no deductions the other person there taking the test - who had just been riding a three wheeler for a few months - had some problems and was very close to a non-passing score.

Review №44

So my experience with PNWMS in Auburn was not the best, and I hope that the problems stated in this review are fixed in the future so that other first time riders wont be in the same situation I was in.To clarify, Ive never driven a manual transmission car before let alone a motorcycle, and I therefore decided to take the BRC (basic rider course) since it said it was for first time riders. The classroom bits were great, and thats the only reason why this review is two stars as opposed to one. The problems became apparent when we were on the range. On the range, we were instructed by two gentleman, Ken and Herb. We went through multiple exercises to become more familiar with motorcycles and how they handle. Ken would describe the exercise to us, then wed see a demo of Herb doing it. I didnt quite understand all of the paths of travel during one of the explanations, so I asked if Ken could explain it again. He looked at me as if I had just insulted him, and said it might help if you listen this time in a very belittling tone. This was where things went downhill. Anyway, as I went through a few of the exercises, I was starting to become more comfortable with the Honda I was riding, but I was still far from perfect. One exercise involved weaving between cones, and I was having a tough time controlling the friction zone. Mind you, while I was struggling, Herb was yelling at the top of his lungs. I couldnt hear what he had to say since the bike was on and I was focusing on weaving. I look up and he was looking at me pointing to my left. We hadnt gone over any instructor signals that looked like that, so I thought better safe than sorry, it must mean that I should move the left and stop. It didnt. Shaking his head and maintaining a frustrated expression, he walked over to me and shouted what are you doing out there?! while standing right next to me. I quickly explained how I didnt understand what he was trying to signal me to do and he said I was telling you to weave the cones from the outside like you were first told!, again shouting. So I tried the exercise again, still having issues and so I decided to ask for coaching. I was still on Herbs half of the range so I asked him for some tips. When I did this, he looked appalled with his mouth wide open; as if he was surprised that a new student in a basic rider course didnt get it on the first couple tries. He then explained some tips to me in a tone that basically communicated you are clearly an idiot for not understanding this.Had it stopped there, I wouldnt have written this review. What made me the most upset was their treatment of a few specific students. These students clearly spoke English as a second language, so one explanation of instructions might not be enough. Not for Herb and Ken. Their tactic of handling this was by raising their voices and saying why dont you understand this?!. Specifically, while we were waiting to start another exercise, one of these students asked a question to Ken. Ken gave an answer and said do you understand?. It was clear that he did not by the confused look he gave Ken as he tilted his head a bit, warranting further explanation. Ken instead said thats when you nod your head and say yes. Incredible.Over all, the instructors made most of the students feel belittled, devalued, and stupid for not picking up everything on the first round of instruction; for a BASIC rider course might I remind you. Since the instructors were stressed out and frustrated, so were we as the students. Therefore it was less fun, and most importantly, much less safe.Again, I hope this is fixed in the future so no students feel the way that I and many other students in the class felt.
