I love going to school here!(: I tried teaching myself code, but realized I had many questions and no one to answer them so I needed to have an instructor; Austin Coding Academy was perfect because of the night classes so I could still continue with work and get help while learning how to code! I definitely recommend them.

ACC was a huge disappointment and waste of money. I signed up for all three Javascript Full Stack courses because they told me that ACC had a 92% placement rate for graduates. I graduated at the top of my cohort and received absolutely no assistance in getting placed, and still dont have a job as a developer. I would have been better off saving $10k and sticking with the lessons found online.

I researched many schools in the Austin area before choosing the Austin Coding Academy. The reason I chose them was because they offered the best quality at an exceptional price. I come from a Finance background and I have never worked in IT before. The intro course is very informative and detailed. As soon as you begin classes the school brings in guest speakers and IT recruiters. I love the field trips we take as well. Halfway thru my Intro course the career services team placed me in a new job within the IT industry. It occurred very fast and I am very grateful for all their instruction and help. My goal is to have a better work-life balance and the Austin Coding Academy has already helped me get my foot in the door. I am very excited to see what opportunities will be presented to me once I complete the entire Full Stack Developer program. Choosing to attend the Austin Coding Academy has proven to be one of the best decisions I have ever made.

Challenging classes lead by an incredible team! As a (previously) non-technical person it was very very rewarding to learn coding in a way that suited my schedule and pace of learning. The structure and pace of their classes are great and enable you to really choose how and what youd like to learn. The ACA team is comprised of professionals full of great resources for students to take advantage of. Highly recommend for those wanting to up their skill set or change careers all together.

I just completed the entire Full Stack curriculum at Austin Coding Academy and not only did they help me transition my career into coding, they helped me land a JavaScript Engineering job before I even graduated. The instructors are wicked smart, the curriculum is challenging in a good way, and the community is incredibly supportive. I recommend anyone looking for an upgrade to their skill set or a complete career change to look no further than Austin Coding Academy for the most affordable and flexible option available in Austin.

An incredibly hands on experience. The instructors at ACA are very knowledgeable and truly enjoy teaching.10/10, Would recommend to anyone in the Austin area wanting to get into coding. I went into the course knowing very little about coding, and after only the introductory course, I was already applying to jobs in the tech industry.

Austin Coding Academy provides a great learning experience! However, the flipped classroom style is not for everyone; it takes discipline to learn concepts outside of class. The instructors are very knowledgeable and are very helpful in making the concepts easier to grasp. ACA also provides a lot of resources to keep up with the class including awesome TAs and tutors will flexible schedules. The only downside is the class size was larger than I anticipated.

This has been a true boot camp experience: challenging beyond anything I had previously imagined, and sociallybonding beyond what I thought myself capable of. The instructors are absolutely first-rate, and there is unlimitedsupport available -- from them, from mentors with years (some decades) of experience as professional software developers, from tutors and TAs, and of course from the ubelievably dedicated and monumentally encouraging and responsiveadministrators. It takes total commitment to make it through the program successfully, so as to be ready by the end tobegin working in the industry; but everything else is provided by the Academy to make that happen -- and it works.

This academy is a great place to start your programming career. We all have different needs and techniques to learning, and this school is accommodating to that. Front-end course was the best! Learned a lot about how to create your own websites, and tie in jQuery for forms and large amounts of information. Interesting stuff!. The back-end course was not as well structured as I felt lost at times but the teachers are willing to meet with you outside of class if time permits. If you arent too busy outside of the school you can get an amazing amount of progress done during your duration at the academy. The founders care and so do the teachers. I will be back for another front-end course!

I took the front-end and back-end classes in 2014, and loved every minutes of it! The instructors were professional, knowledgeable, and always willing to help inside and outside of class. The founders were super involved in the entire process and were always looking for feedback - both positive and negative. As for the classes themselves, the front-end was more to my liking as I had dabbled in html and css prior. The back-end class was challenging and a bit less structured, but totally worth it. Both kept me extremely busy, and the instructors made it possible to advance further when I needed it and slow down when I struggled with a topic. Results: I am currently working with a classmate on freelance work, the resume website I made in the front-end class got me a part-time job with graphic design, and the back-end class let me get into some app creation with one of the founders friends.Great people, waiting for my schedule to clear so I can take the intermediate classes!

Austin Coding Academy is by far the best for learning real world dev skills. I have learned so much in just one course that my employer and managers have taken significant notice. It really helps you learn, not only the basics- but how to problem solve, think creatively and exercise self-sufficiency.Then, when you really need support there are your instructors, TAs and tutors; all willing and able to jump in without hesitation. You’re classmates will be wonderful too! Everyone is trying to make the same strides. If you are reading this and wondering if it is worth the time and money. It is.

Austin Coding Academy was a phenomenal experience for me. I had a little experience in web design and coding, so I knew I would enjoy it, but classes at ACA really pushed that passion forward. Instructors and staff are really driven and so obviously love what they do - they all go the extra mile to make sure you are getting everything you can out of class. Our instructor, Jake, and TA, Victoria, were always available to us and both had a very natural gift for teaching. I enjoyed classes and homework so much that it never actually felt like ‘school’ or ‘work.’ ACA really strives to make their environment community-oriented, which allowed me to learn from classmates and even make great friends! Im astonished at the amount of knowledge I gained in three short months and would recommend ACA to anyone I know.

The Front End Intro course was a great kickstarter for my education in Coding. I wouldnt have been able to motivate myself without the help of the amazing teachers and staff of ACA. Everyone down to the owners are very involved in your education and are more than willing to help you understand anything you may be struggling with.

I took the intro front-end and back-end courses in Fall 2014, and it was a great experience. I never programmed with HTML or CSS before, and now I feel confident that I can create a website using the tools I learned in class. Granted, I had some programming background in Java so I was able to pick up the Python course fairly easily. However, I felt I learned what it would be like in a professional setting. The instructors were always there when you needed help, and I still get advice and sit downs with instructors even after the course is over. They really want you to learn, and understand why things work they way they do.

Had a great experience with my time at ACA. Since graduating I have landed a job, and recently just moved to a higher paying job! Easily worth the investment, as long as you are willing to put the time in. No employers are going to look at your ACA certificate and blindly hire you, in fact the certificate isnt what you should care about, I dont even know where mine is at lol. You should care about the knowledge that you gain because that is what will land you in the industry, and also move you up in the rankings once you are in the industry.Jon Woo is an incredible instructor for the advanced course (only course I took), and he was easily the most valuable resource I had while attending class and also after graduating he continued to support me. Without ACA I doubt I would be in the position I am at now.

A.C.A Grad 2017: The A.C.A is an excellent school in downtown Austin for anyone interested in programming and web development. Whether you already have a background in programming or are coming into the field brand new, the A.C.A does a fantastic job at challenging its students and preparing them for the job market. Course curriculum can update as fast as the industry does, allowing students to graduate with cutting edge knowledge of industry standards and frameworks.A.C.A staff is deeply involved in their students progress and success. Rooted in downtown Austin, students are encouraged to attend events hosted by local tech companies, start ups and meet ups. Every Tuesday Alumni are given the opportunity to come in and share their success, experiences , interviews, or even projects, with current students. This also gives the A.C.A a chance to know what is going on in the industry, allowing for immediate updates to course materiel, as well the A.C.A network to stay connected.By graduation I was designing my own full stack web applications and building my personal portfolio. I knew I had a passion for programming , the A.C.A was exactly what I needed to learn modern web development frameworks from those who work in the industry.

The guys who run it, Chris and Luke are awesome and are very motivated to help people learn, hence the low prices. I loved the front-end beginner class (HTML, CSS, and some Javascript). I had no prior experience with front-end or coding at all, and am now building websites on my own and making a great income from freelance work full-time.It required a lot of learning outside of class and working on things every day is crucial. I loved the productive environment and the teachers are very knowledgable. ACA gave me the right amount of structure, answered all of my questions, and set up a good foundation. However, like anything, you have to be willing to do the work.

My overall experience at ACA was very positive. I met some great people that I learned alongside, some of whom I’ve kept in touch with and I consider friends. The teaching staff is great, very patient and willing to go the extra mile. For me, the advantage of ACA over other schools, was that it was part time. The other advantage was that the overall curriculum was segmented into 3 parts – Intro, Intermediate, and Advanced. This means you don’t have to necessarily devote 7/8 months straight to the program. It also means that you only pay for the class when you’re ready to take it, which is much easier on your wallet. I enjoyed my time at ACA. I learned A TON, but with a caveat. The Intro course is very basic. Pretty much every class has you building a new site from scratch, expanding on previous knowledge with each iteration. The pace is a tad slow, but I don’t see that as a downside because for many students (like me) this was our first exposure to coding of any kind. After this class, you’ll be able to build static websites on your own (not necessarily web apps). The Intermediate course is a deep dive into JavaScript. Your ability to grasp the lessons depends heavily on how much time you can dedicate outside of class – the caveat. There’s a lot of pre-work (more like pre-learning) to do before you start intermediate and you’re not given a lot of time to accomplish it. The pre-work is mostly comprised of free online resources that teach you the fundamental knowledge you need for the upcoming class. I had to start my pre-work for intermediate while I was still 3 weeks away from completing intro, and I barely finished. That’s the catch in all of this. You’re actually learning outside of class. Class time is more of a lab environment where you practice, collaborate, and ask questions. Students who didn’t devote enough time outside of class struggled and got behind. I’m not sure how much I agree with this approach because if I can learn outside of class, why do I need ACA? But in the end, I did find the class time helpful and it helped me overcome some obstacles that I might not have on my own. I just think it’s important to have that expectation going in.Finally, the Advanced class is a complete full stack course. This is where the experience wasn’t as great for me. The teacher/student experience was still good, but the overall course was somewhat disorganized. Lessons and pre-work would change at the last minute (remember the caveat), which puts added pressure on your time outside of class. I also felt like important concepts such as project setup, source control, testing, and deployment were lightly covered. I feel like these are key things to learn to truly make a developer “job ready”. There was also a lot of “just type this…” in the curriculum, instances where you’re writing code without much explanation or understanding as to what exactly you’re coding. But, it works and you just kinda keep trucking along. The concepts are very focused, which is good and bad. It’s good because you’re getting a good understanding of React, Mongoose, and Express. It’s bad because that’s just the tip of the iceberg when it come to the huge, overall scope of the JavaScript ecosystem. And, it’s just JavaScript that’s it – no Python, Ruby, PHP etc. You’d be hard pressed to find a job description that entails that exact skillset, without some additional languages.I would highly recommend the Intro and Intermediate class, with my caveat explained above. I’m just not sure about the Advanced class, if only because the subject matter is so specific. Perhaps 10 weeks is simply not enough time to cover a broader range of topics (we did struggle to finish on time). To their credit, ACA is constantly retooling the curriculum. I know that they shifted up some of the JavaScript lessons to earlier classes, which will help the learning curve tremendously. I think if they get a little more organized and find a way to rely less on outside resources, the experience would be a definite 5-star.
