This is an educational facility so dont expect miracles and a 10 minute haircut. Ive gone here for years, Ms. Baldwin came and visited with me today she is so involved with her business. I love giving my money to her and supporting the school and these young people trying to get ahead. I got a great haircut today.

I have been using the South Lamar location for years for haircuts and have always been pleased. Lately, Ive been feeling that my hair color has been a little drab and my individual gray strands were not helping. After a color consult with an instructor and my student hairdresser, Daisy, I ended up with lovely highlights that blended the gray with my naturally light brown hair. My hair looks, and I feel, fantastic!

This was my first time coming to the Burnet location and I was not disappointed. The receptionist treated me and had me promptly in my stylists chair. I came in for a drastic hair cut and bolyage highlight. My stylist Nick took his time to study my cut and color. I have very thick hair and he made sure to pay attention to every section of my head. The instructor kept an eye and was available to help. I’ll definitely be coming back.

We had the most ahhhhhmaaaazzzzing hair experience and am absolutely blown away by this salon and its stellar team. Wow. Wow. I feel as though we hit the hair salon lotto with Baldwin. From start to finish, the customer service and professional expertise we received were phenomenal.Huge shout out of gratitude to Kimberly, the beautiful teacher and manager, who oversaw my multi-racial, 11 year olds hair. She was in the chair for several hours as three most patient stylists worked on getting her matts out. Voila. She is now matt free with beautiful ringlets. Plus, Kimberly even gifted her a special hair brush and extra curl cream. Wow. It was a hair miracle. My stylist, Kaylea, was just as spectacular. I love my hair trim - in fact, it was one of the best cuts ever. She did a fabulous job on my root color touch up, too.The care our hair received made this such a memorable experience. I cannot rave enough and we are now new customers. The salon is beautiful, clean, and the lighting is fabulous. This little gem is also right in our hood (smile). See you soon amazing Baldwin and thank you for making us both feel special.Back again today and had the same amazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzing experience. I cannot rave enough about KIMBERLY. She is truly a spectacular human, is filled with hair expertise, and always, goes the extra mile. I left there again, today, feeling so valued and appreciated.

I will share my experience as a customer not a student.I absolutely loved their services and how cost-effective they are. My mom is traveling soon and she really wanted to get a makeover without costing her a fortune. So I went on a mission to find something promising and affordable. I came across Baldwin Beauty School through Groupon. They offer three different packages:$43 for a wash, deep conditioning, cut, toner, and a blow dry (A STEAL)$59 Full Balayage with Toner and Blow-Dry (NO HAIRCUT)$59 Full Highlights with Toner and Blow-Dry (NO HAIRCUT)Great prices but keep in mind they are still students. They will get supervised by an instructor from time to time, but it is better if you have a clear idea of what youll get done. The instructors will give you feedback, but to avoid frustration, Id suggest walking in with a set style on you head. My mom and I opted on the first promotion and it was perfect! The catch is that you cant go lighter than your current color, because it involves bleaching. The toner is a semi-permanent process, which will last around 8-weeks depending on how often you wash your hair. Lastly, the range of colors, to choose from will go from your natural color to the darkest. My mom was seeing by Brianne(hope got her name right), for her short age, only 18, she knew coloring pretty well and my mom was very happy with her color and cut. I will go totally recommend it if: youre on a budget, patient throughout the process, and know what youll get.

I previously booked a deep conditioning treatment and braids and was fairly happy with my results. So I called and booked an appointment for deep conditioning and braids again with that student at the beginning of the week. The person I spoke to on the phone even went and asked the student what time would work best for her before setting the appointment for me. When I arrived for my appointment the student was already working on another client and my appointment was just on a sticky note in their appointment book instead of written in on a time slot....hence why my appointment was overlooked and she was double booked. Its fine that I had to reschedule, but I had a very surprising and completely unprofessional conversation with the lady I think is the head teacher. She got on the phone after I was put on hold and when I told her I was rescheduling my appt with this student she told me that she doesnt know if this school would be a good fit for me, because the service I wanted isnt allowed at the school and this student is highly requested with a tight schedule. She said that her student told her last time that I brought in hair and asked her to braid my hair. But that is 100% a lie. I went in under the assumption I was getting just my own hair braided. I literally havent bought hair in years, so I definitely didnt come in with any hair. While we were trying to figure out how she was braiding my hair she told me the braids would hold longer and look better with some extra hair braided in. So she offered to use some of her own braiding hair in with my hair. Her teacher told me on the phone that she let it happen last time because I was a paying customer and she was already doing it. When I told her that I did NOT bring in hair and that it was her students, she said well thats not what my student told me. It is beyond unprofessional that this student couldnt just own up to her decision to use her own hair for me instead of trying to make it seem like I came in trying to get something done off the books. Everyone here needs to get their stuff together!

It’s “rude” to ask the student receptionist @0930 when one has a 0900 appt how much longer the wait will be and can one reschedule. Not rude for the student receptionist to point her finger and you and tell you to sit down.Common courtesy would dictate that if one arrives for a 9am appt and all the students are unavailable,, tell the customer ( yes, we are customers, the service is not free) there will be a wait, then one can make a decision about what to do.

If you are considering going to cosmetology school and you go anywhere else but here,... your missing out! I went to 2 different schools for my first bit of hours and they were not realistic or flexible for someone who needs to work or has a family or just a life in general! On top of that this school gets a huge amount of clients compared to other schools which gives you a ton of hands on experience! The teachers actually care about you as a person, want you to succeed and support you! The owners Wendy and Randy are caring, understanding and passionate about providing an amazing education at a reasonable price! Wendy has a ton of connections to salons and will help you get employment! This school was the best decision I have made for my future! Thank you so much Baldwin! I literally could not have done it without you!

Not only is the Baldwin Family simply the nicest, their staff is so knowledgeable! Everyone is hospitable and the students are eager to learn. My experiences have all been pleasurable. Staff is attentive to each client, often checking in with both client and student to offer advice or approve of technique. This is a great learning environment for students as well as a wonderful place for clients looking for affordable services done well!

Very unprofessional instructors, they dont know what they are doing. My aunt introduced me to this place, shes been coming here for at least a decade until I told her what happened to me. Ill make sure people know word of mouth about the incompetence and extremely rude unprovoked angry treatment Ive experienced from the management here. There are better schools out there, its less expensive to get taught the right way than to have to take continuing education classes on top of tuition.

PLEASE do not attend this school. PLEASE BELIEVE ME ITS not what they Hype you up the believe. PLEASE talk to the students about their curriculum or the program you are choosing. Chose wisely! Some of the instructors are Overly out dated. If you even have one at all for real. A lot of the instructors quit on them. Product are old. The owners wife is VERY RUDE AND FAKE. She also lacks Professionalism. Just you wait she’s a snake. Please don’t share any of your personal business with her. Because she will share freely. If you’re a client with a complaint or student with one they don’t care. They don’t care to change anything that lacks in their school. They really don’t care for your opinions or reviews about your learning experience or service experience. So when they hand you a survey paper fill it out with a grain of salt. Because nothing will change about your learning experience. All they want is your money. There is endless amounts of petty drama that even the owners of the school partake in. Picking favorites and neglecting other students, cliques, disgusting rumors and the worst interpersonal conflict issues I’ve ever heard of! Even though I graduated from there. It had nothing to do with them!!! I had drive and confidences coming into this industry. The students teach each other because again some instructors lack the knowledge. You will go through hell to get them Licenses there. I bust my butt for it and prayed everyday before I entered and after I would leave. That place will try to BREAK YOU especially if you’re talented coming in. Please save yourself the doctors visit and Anxiety pills. It’s a Big BIG headache! Now if you like DRAMA, MESSINESS, AND HELL FIRE YOU’LL FIT RIGHT IN!

What a great place to get your hair cut, dye, or just shampoo. The students and instructors are very professional and friendly. Not only are you helping a student to grow in this field, but you are paying a lot less than you would at a salon. I do wish the hours were a little different, but it is understandable (students have a life too and still have classes outside the salon). You may even find a new hair dresser too in the process. :)

Great place for a walk in hair cut- Ive never waited over 15 minutes. The stylists are all very friendly and professional and make sure to get a good idea of what you want before cutting- the instructors are there to supervise and critique the cuts but I have always been happy with the outcome.Lots of older ladies come in so I think the stylists appreciate having younger clientele (I am 25 and have been 6 or 7 times now in the past couple of years.) If you are very picky about your haircut, this is probably not the place to experiment with, but if you need a trim or little change of pace (cut or color), this is great. Ive always been happy with the outcome, I like supporting the students who are learning, and you cant beat the price!

You definitely get what you pay for... which speaking of prices, a manicure is now $10, not the $7 listed online. Girl #1 at the front desk was on the phone, and girl #2 just stared at me and played on her phone until girl #1 hung up. When #1 asked #2 why she didnt help me, she laughed and said I know, Im bad at my job. Insanely unprofessional. My manicurist was sweet; however, it was a very lackluster experience. She barely did anything other than color, used the messy and then go back and clean up with remover approach, and a few of my nails chipped that same day due to low quality polish. They dont have a dryer, just the spray, so of course I also bumped some polish on the drive home. Overall: splurge the extra $5 and get your nails done at a professional salon.

As a fairly typical guy, I dont have a lot of requirements for what a haircut should consist of beyond should be cheap and make it shorter. Baldwin will charge you a whopping $7 for a haircut, which is not quite as good as the $5 that the beauty college back in Richardson that I used to go to charged, but who cares. The stylists are friendly, fast, and they get graded on their haircuts so they have an incentive to do a good job. I dont go anywhere else for haircuts anymore.

Great place to just walk into for a haircut - everyone is very friendly. I really like this place, the only reason I am giving 4s is because the hours here are sucky. They should be open at least Monday through Friday. and they only allow hair cuts up until 3:30. This is my favorite place to get a hair cut though because since the students are learning they are extremely careful with how they cut my hair. I have gone to multiple other experienced places and it has never turned out well.

Don’t buy the Groupon!!!! According to the instructor it is worded incorrectly and even though my Groupon said color, highlight or lowlights, cut, conditioner and style. I had to pay an extra to get an all over color bc apparently the color is only to cover your greys which at the end I was told I have stubborn greys that didn’t take. And it doesn’t come with the highlight option. I went in wanting one thing and left with something else. For what I paid with the Groupon and additional charges. I should have just went to a regular hair salon. I do have to say the student was great. She did her best. But lesson learned.
