The only reason this is not getting five stars is because I had a semi-poor experience my first time here. Basically miscommunication led to me not getting what I wanted at all.However when I called back to ask if I could get my hair fixed they offered a discount and were 100% willing to work with me on my schedule. I want to give a huge shout out to my girl MagnelaYOU ARE THE REALEST.The attention to detail, the sole focus on ME, the sheer determination, skill, hard work and proper communication had this girl KILLING it.My hair turned out fabulous on my “fix it” appointment.I love the staff here, the students are learning from great teachers.MAGNELA!! My girl, keep up the good work.Please go in and ask for her personally, you will not be disappointed. And don’t forget to tip!! She deserves it!!!!

I was a little nervous about getting a haircut here, but I couldnt afford to go to a regular salon so I took a chance. Ended up having a great experience! Kayleen did my cut and was very talented, professional and personable. I got exactly what I asked for, as well as some good styling advice and product recommendations. It takes a little bit longer than a haircut at a normal salon, but it was well worth it. Very happy customer.

UPDATE: They were just going to shoo me out the door, but I kept mentioning how this made me feel to keep having this happen every time I try to make a hair appointment. The manager then offered to go to another Aveda location to borrow some of their supplies. I agreed to this, and ended up getting the services I needed. Jazlyn was my student stylist, and she was awesome!!!The last several times Ive booked an appointment for haircare for my type 4 hair, they havent had the right products they have always had in the past. Usually, they give me the courtesy of calling me before my appointment to let me know its cancelled due to being out (yet again) of what I need. Today is my birthday and I have a dinner reservation to celebrate, so I drive all the way here for haircare only to be told they are again out of what my hair needs. I made this appointment weeks ago, so there is no excuse for this. Apparently, only good hair is valued and prioritized at this Aveda.

Got a deep condition and a facial while I waited for my partner to finish getting a perm. Very professional and nice at really reasonable prices. Students are overseen all the time and the student who did my facial was extremely careful with my sensitive skin.

Help a student gain more experience at the Aveda Institute! You can grow out a cut or color if youre not satisfied, but the chemistry of color is something that must be practiced over and over again. Ive always been pleased with the results and happy knowing that I helped someone further their education! Please tip these kids generously--this school is expensive and many drive in each day from other cities. I highly recommend you give it a try!

I scheduled a 90 minute facial. My esthetician in training was Lily Cucco. I received EXCELLENT service. Lily knew the products and her touch was confident and calming at the same time. I was totally relaxed by the end and zoned out. My skin is glowing!! Take advantage of her being at the institute because you won’t get her at this price for long. I’m booking my next appointment now.

Ive loved every haircut Ive gotten here, and I still wont ever come back. They dont value your time at all. Twice now my appointment has been cancelled upon arrival after Ive driven across town to be there. This most recent time, the receptionist was incredibly rude and acted like I was an inconvenience on her for showing up to my appointment and lied about their attempts to reschedule with me. When I told her I wasnt available next weekend after she told me that she would just push my appointment to then, she just stared at me until I left. There are plenty of other places to get a decent haircut that dont act like this, and the hair coloring was never that good.

They need more cashiers and people to check clients in, but otherwise I loved the service. Did not seem rushed and no pressure to buy extra items. My student was kind and gentle and had a relaxing touch for my facial.Thank you!

With my manicure appointment, I had the worst experience ever. So, my service provider (student) was not even aware of what she is putting on my hands. I asked her as to about the cream she applied and she said she was just told to apply it without any information about it. She used a small cotton piece to remove my previous nail color that she really struggled with. Then, she herself said that she hates doing manicures and pedicures. Also, mentioning the fact that she cannot even paint nails evenly. I understand she is a student and everyone has a learning curve, but seriously girl what are you doing. When coming to filing my nail, she did give me a choice as to if I want them round or square shaped and I gave her all the privilege as to she can do whatever she is comfortable with. She chose rounded nails and God my God, they were completely out of shape. My nails edges were ragged and jagged, square on one side and circular on other. Then the base coat was all dry, stringy and sticky that she couldnt apply without a blob. I asked her about the bumps and she said she will cover it with multiple coats of nail paint. And by the way, on the vegannail color they use, my service giver said that it comes of very easily and doesnt last even 2 days to save its life. And by the way, they dont even cut nails, so all it was applying a cream, immersing your hand in cold water, applying some sort of salt made scrub and washing your hands in the restroom. My next turn was for a pedicure, and I asked the student as to if it would be the same and she said yes and I fled to the reception. The reception was even worse. Barely heard as to what I had to say, charged me my manicure fee and I repented my stupid decision of coming to Aveda for manicure. $15 down the drain and I ran feeling wise that I didnt spend more for my pedicure.

Worst experience I’ve ever been through. Worst school shouldn’t be open to the public. Smell like gas when you walk in and the students are ghetto. They did not offer good customer service for clients rights. I don’t get the point in entertaining students. They don’t know what they’re doing. Even for a 30 minute facial.

My student stylist was sweet but the supervision is horrible. I was given 3 separate estimates that a haircut & half head of highlights would take 3 hours total. It took 4 hours for them to barely finish the highlights and so there wasn’t enough time for the haircut. The supervisors are required to check off student progress HOWEVER there was only 1 supervisor on the floor for all stylists and she went missing for 30 minutes. That meant we had to wait around & do nothing for 30 minutes before we could move on. I paid about $90 for a half head of highlights you can barely see (they didn’t lift properly & the tones were warm instead of cool like I asked for). I am really disappointed and will need to get this fixed :(

Kristy G. did a fantastic job on my facial and had me so relaxed I felt like I was falling and drunk without any alcohol. Gonna try a body scrub next time.

Easy parking and I had a great experience getting a simple haircut. They took extra steps to make sure everything was properly sanitized and had spray sanitizer at the station where I got my haircut. I was very impressed and pleased with the results

I went in for partial high lights / low lights. I previously had this done in Nov & paid around $50. I was told when making the appointment it would cost around the same. When I went in they started the process where I was told itd cost almost $ 80. The student acted like she knew what she was doing but in all actuality she didnt & kept pausing to ask her instructor ( after she waited for another for over 30 minutes ) simple questions. Shed walk away without telling me what she was doing & especially at the wash bowl @ that time she left me for over 30 minutes just waiting. I finally got up to look for her & never saw her. She also during 1 of her many discussions with her instructor had a pretty big disagreement with her in front of me. Totally unprofessional. I am getting it corrected today & see a lot of orange on fhair that should have been blond. Ill neve

My daughter got her hair done (color and highlight) and the instructors ruined her hair. She let them know about having previously bleaching her hair so that they could make an informed decision about highlights. The instructors told the student (who was awesome and did her best) to continue leaving the highlights to process, even when the student advised that she thought they should be done. My daughters hair is now breaking and falling out.I want to be very clear; the people instructing the student are 100% at fault here. My daughter gave them all of the info about her hair and even said they could skip the highlight if needed. We are probably going to have to cut 6in of her hair off due to the new damage. I’m disgusted and so disappointed that the people who are trusted to be advisors made such terrible decisions with her hair.

I LOVE coming to this Aveda. The students know what theyre doing and listen to what you want. The only reason Im giving four stars is for Aveda themselves. I got an icy blue color put in my hair, and within a week it faded to a color that looked like I had been swimming in chlorine for three days. They fixed it for free (pictures attached) since it was within a week, but the instructors and students seem to all complain about how quickly Aveda color fades. I spent around $200 for this entire process, and its incredibly disappointing to have the color fade in a weeks time. Color should be put in hair to last, not to force your clients to spend more money on dying it over and over again.

I got a haircut from Su yesterday, and I absolutely love it! Not only that, she was meticulous about everything from the cut, to Covid concerns (paying extra attention that my seat was clean, etc.), to my comfort at all times. Thank you so much!

This place is awesome! The staff and students are very friendly, helpful and accommodating. The prices are super reasonable and the services they provide easily compares to most local salons. It usually takes a bit longer since your service is being conducted by a student but hey, its a learning process and youre getting a great price to be pampered. You cant beat it. The products alone are worth checking out the place!

My wife had a hair appointment this morning. She drives there and a sign says its closed due to weather. No call, no automated text- nothing to let her know. (not arguing over closure for weather safety, but you need to at least tell people youre cancelling their appointments) Very unprofessional and rude to clients.Wont be giving them my money any time soon.

Taylor takes pride in her work. She is excellent with hair coloring. I loved how she colored my hair and then the blow out was excellent. I highly recommend Aveda and students like Taylor who love to learn and excel in hair coloring and styling.

I had the pleasure of LAURA cutting and highlighting my hair yesterday and she did a stellar job. As others have noted, it IS a student led salon and these stylists are LEARNING so plan on extra time. My normal cut and foil is 90 min and this took four hours but that is what it takes for students to learn, they are not wizards at these services...yet.:)So Ive learned to relax and let them learn on my hair. In this case, Laura was excellent so no learning needed. Its simply a slower process, period. I have had only one other experience at Aveda and the haircut was not quite what I had expected but it all grows out and again I remind all, it is student learning so relax. If you have some incredible hairstyle that cant be amended then perhaps go to your normal salon but for me and my limited time in Austin each year, they are perfect and I neednt bother to find the perfect salon to do my hair.THANKS LAURA, your personality and interesting conversations made the time fly by and hoping you rock in your future endeavors!!!!Ill be back for next years annual cut Aveda, hoping I get another Laura!BTW, the reception IS a bit harried and you dont get the feel that they have it all under control when you check in (perhaps theyre new students too?) but again I remind myself, LEARNING CENTER so slow your roll and enjoy the whole event.:)

If you want someone that is going to take care of your skin I highly recommended you to go see Amber at Aveda Institute Austin from the esthetician class, she is gentle, very patient, she explained me every step of the facial, I felt relaxed every minute,she loves what she is doing, she has great skills and excellent customer service. I love it and I will come back again. Very happy with Amber’s service.

I went this past Saturday and I was very happy with the stylist I had. I went for a drastic change and he was excited to go on the journey with me. He was not totally comfortable cutting my hair that short on the off chance I would not like it so he had one of the master teachers come over and he set the guides and the student finished off my cut. I love it! They both did a great job and were so friendly!

I have made two attempts at booking an appointment here. The first was through their online services and I was never contacted back or sent a confirmation email. I tried calling and not one time could I reach a person there in the salon. I showed for the appointment and they told me I didnt have one. I took my portion of the responsibility for this first appointment. Several months later, I tried again. This time I called. I was confirmed an appointment. I showed for my appointment, again, and was told I didnt have one. I spoke to the manager and nothing was done to keep my business. She said they were booked for the day and she was sorry. That was it. This is the second time I have moved my entire schedule around for this appointment and this company has done nothing to make up for it. They arent listed as a BBB company, nor is their website set up for customer compliants, only student admissions. I cant trust my phone call will get to who it needs to get to because this company has not shown me they value their customers, nor can their employees perform their jobs. I am extremely disappointed.

I have always been happy with the haircuts at Aveda. Prices are fair and they have flexible hours for appointments. Occasionally it takes awhile to get an appointment if you fill out their web form but overall Aveda is pretty good!

A sweet girl named Krista cut my hair from below my chest to shoulder-length yesterday, and I could not be more pleased with the results! Mind you, I am extremely picky when it comes to my hair. Austins Aveda Institute is in a temporary location at Highland Mall, so it is not the most luxurious setting. It was still nice enough. I will definitely be going back after they move to their new home! I have had my hair done at an Aveda concept salon, so I assumed the quality assurance would translate. It did. I am so pleased, and, although I havent purchased my first Aveda product yet, I absolutely love how they work in my hair during salon visits. If you are on a budget but dont want your hair to show it, give Aveda Institute a whirl! If your student is unsure, a licensed supervisor will step in. Everyone around me seemed very professional. PS, Austins Aveda Institute is offering half-off services while at their temporary location! Im not sure when exactly the offer ends, but my cut plus a wonderful herbal deep conditioning treatment was only $11! Unbelievable!

Visited Aveda to get my hair trimmed and my experience was terrible. First they have no idea how to do anything with textured hair. My stylist had never done it before and will not listen to me when I tried to tell her how to comb through my hair. The worst part is that I am on the lower end of textured hair. Then she started complaining how tired she was and that her hands was tired from blow drying my hair. Then the instructor had the nerve to ask me how they did and then told me that they dont even have a class on textured hair and that the trainers dont even know it well. I left there so disappointed and my stylist just made the experience worst with her sour attitude and complaining that she was tired. I will NEVER recommend them nor will I ever go back.

I always have such a fantastic experience at the Aveda Institute. The students and educators are very professional. I get a partial highlight, new growth fill, and toner. I am very happy with the color. My stylist was Kelli and she did a wonderful job. She really has a true talent.

Aspen was profoundly conscientious with exquisite attention to detail. Holland, her instructor is without equal! -- very hands on and attentive, frequently checking results and skillfully knowledgeable. I felt I was in very good hands and it proved true! -- I had had a few recent blunders there but my confidence is restored. Holland deserves a raise -- and a big one!!

I just got back from getting my hairs trimmed here, its a bit chaotic since its a school for people whom are paying $25,000 for a year of training to cut your hair (and no they arent getting paid). My haircut came out just fine, no complaints, but I still had to pay $18 which is just as much as I wouldve paid my regular barber... So Ill just go to my barber because the atmosphere is 10x more chill, and I dont have to wait an hour to be seen. Aveda Institute is geared towards catering to a womens hairstyle, as women also [only] pay $18 for a haircut.

Skilled students and great for cuts and color.Unfortunately, not so great with customer service.1) They are at a temporary location right now but the guy who made my appointment didnt bother to tell me this when I called.2) When I called them from their old location, where a security guard told me where the temporary location is and gave me a flyer with directions, the woman who picked up the phone couldnt answer my question about moving my appointment by 20 minutes, and said Let me send you to the retail desk! which apparently is code for answering machine. So basically, she hung up on me.3) So I started driving there anyway, and then they called me wondering why I had missed my appointment! I explained why I had missed my appointment, and asked if I could still come in, seeing as how I was literally one block away from their glamorous new digs at the Highland Mall.4) She said no, and gave ZERO apologies, so I thanked her for wasting a half hour of my time.I have been there regularly for my color (Nobody does reds like they do!) for around a year and never had a single problem until now. Very odd. Very indifferent and a bit rude. Im a sucker for a good deal, though, so after getting my hair done somewhere else for a month or two, Ill be giving Aveda another try.

You have got to come here! At the beginning of your appointment an instructor talks with the student about what your needs/wants are and what the best approach is to address those. I loved this because you get double the hair wisdom and you get to hear exactly what theyre thinking. It is evident that their key focuses are your satisfaction and the health of your hair. A good hair cut is always a result of trusting your hair salon; I 100% trust Aveda Institute Austin!

Being a student establishment I was not expecting much. If you are expecting a top-notch service,do bear in mind this is a training institute where students are under training to becoming professional. The student stylist will need to consult their educator before they can proceed with the next step. Your service can take longer than other professional salons, so be patient! My experience for a haircut was good. The master student Emily, instantly understood my situation and showed me some styles that I had already had in mind. The educator (I dont know his name) was great! He really got the issue and guided Emily to work on my hair. Overall, I am pleased with the cut. Wonder if we can schedule appointments with the educator? (Just a thought). Observing others, I feel that the educator plays a pivotal role on how your final look will turn out as they are the ones who guides the students in training that . For Hair cuts, I will return to this institute as I only need long layers to maintain my hair...Management wise, the company can improve by managing client schedules better and I believe that office is at a separate location.

Loved it! The staff and students were super nice and welcoming. I was see in the first 5 minuets of arriving, then given a complimentary neck and shoulder massage. My student Sierra did a great job and cut my hair exactly how I wanted it. I will definitely be back!

Awful customer service!! Previously, I had a cut and color scheduled weeks in advance. They called me to reschedule for a different time the day before my appointment. When I arrived I was told they had not rescheduled me for an adequate enough time for both services so I was unable to get the haircut. The next time I scheduled my appointment 3 weeks in advance. I was called 3.5 hours before my appointment to tell me they were canceling it because the student was going home and I can not be scheduled with anyone else.I spoke with the manager to complain and was told that’s how it is. I said, “so you are saying when I make an appointment there is no guarantee of actually getting the service but I am not notified of this non-guarantee.” She said that was correct.Beware!!!!

Claire was a terrific stylist. She did an excellent job cutting my hair and offering suggestions. It is clear she will have a very successful career. I also want to commend the Institute for having a very nice facility and being so gracious. I really came to AIA to get a quick hair cut but I intend to come back since it is a lovely place with very nice people. Best wishes for Claire on her graduation and future career. I know she will be very successful.

My master stylist paid close attention to what i wanted that day. she repeated to me the plan for clarification. then, her instructor came by to inquire of the plan and offer a bit more to the vision. the instructor checked back during the cut, and, again at the end of the cut. they made certain that i left a satisfied customer. sure, it took longer than a regular salon would need, but, they are students! and, i appreciate the instructor being so involved. i will definitely be back!

Wonderful experience from beginning to end!! My haircut started with an awesome shoulder and neck massage with aromatherapy oils, then a great shampoo and an excellent cut. An instructor even cut the front section, so I got an expert haircut for $12. Score!! My student stylist was really nice and made me feel right at home. Ended with a complimentary application of Aveda eye shadow, lip gloss, or perfume. (Theres also a full wall of makeup downstairs that you can play with after your service!) Loved it - Ill definitely be back next time Im in Austin. :-D

Ive been to Aveda Institute 3 times. All of the visits were extremely positive. The environment was very nice, the instructor was involved before and after the cut. She shaped up the cut a bit after the student. All have been fabulous! Ive recommended the Institute to my friends.

I love Aveda Institute! It allows me to have a fun pampering without all the expenses. The students are well trained and passionate about giving you the best experience. The only thing to note is you should allocate enough time for a session. They are upfront about it but, make sure you give yourself about an hour and a half for a haircut. It will be worth it!

Ive never had so many compliments on a haircut! And the person who did the work is just a student here, though not for much longer. She will be heading out into the real world soon, but Im not worried about who will come after her. Ive never had a bad haircut at an Aveda salon. The fact that these are only $12 (versus the $60+ Ive paid in the past) only makes it that much better. Think of all the Aveda products you can buy in their store for the money you saved! I only wish Id found this place sooner.Update: after a particularly bad haircut, Im taking back one of the stars (would only be half a star, but thats not an option) because of the handling of my complaint when I phoned in about 2 hours after the haircut. I was asked if Id seen my hair before I left the salon. Of course I had. I just didnt know I didnt like it until I realized how short my hair actually was post haircut.To give the place credit, they do have a satisfaction guarantee. This means that when my hair grows out a bit, I will be going back to get it fixed. They offered to fix it the same day, but I didnt feel that there was enough hair to cut.

Staff and students are incredible! Plan ahead of time when scheduling hair services as they are students and the services requested often take longer than anticipated. Just remember that they are students and you are getting a crazy low price for the service. Be patient and you will have a great experience with a great brand! I

This was my first trip to Aveda. I went in on discount day and scheduled a few appointments. 20% off all services!I was very happy with the service I was provided. I had a wax and and haircut. Hope was the lady that gave me the wax and she was very competent . She was very efficient and any woman that has a wax knows that you want your technician to be a little OCD. She waxed and tweezed and when I walked on my face was as soft as a babys bum. She gets FIVE stars from me.Then on to my haircut. My hair had gotten very long and I wanted it cut OFF. My stylist was Nikki and she was great. She listened to me. Her instructor came by a few times to check her work. I walked out with a very nice bob. I will keep my second appointment.

Ive been to Aveda 4 times now, and have had a great experience every time. I did not request a Master student the first time but had one, and since then I have always requested a Master student. I had been going to bargain hair salons prior to Aveda, and always left a little underwhelmed with my haircut and experience. I love the professionalism at Aveda, and the haircuts have always exceeded my expectations.

So awesome and a great deal! First, the ambiance is divine. Complete with the best tea I have ever had and pretty fountains, youll feel like you are definitely being pampered. My stylist was wonderful as was her teacher. I loved my hair and at the price, you cant beat it! Stop going anywhere else and go there, believe me!

Ive been going here for two years because Ive never had a bad cut. Even though theyre students, a supervisor is always nearby; however, I went last night and my novice stylist cut my hair with his hands shaking and the instructor was nowhere to be found. I went in for a touch-up, and lost 2 more than I asked for. Asked for a collarbone-length lob and came out with a short bob because the student couldnt quit correcting mistakes in the length. They comped my next haircut, but it will take months for this and all the extra layers I specifically asked them NOT to add to correct itself.

One of the best places to get a spa treatment without the EXTREME spa prices, if you have a budget for your needs, the school can help you schedule an awesome appointment in doing your spa needs, there is a caution these are students who are training to enter a spa career. If you are unsure have not... call them they can all guide you through the process. Each student builds a portfolio for all hair styles, to help you find the best style that best suits your needs. You are not obligated to buy any of the Aveda products however the products do last for about 12 months depending on each persons use.After two visits I have been extremely pleased with my stylist who will be moving on in two months but many of here classmates are being referred to me.

I had an appointment to get a little color in my hair this past Saturday. I’ve never colored my hair so I was really looking forward to it. My appointment was at 1:00 and I arrived before that time.At 1:10 I asked the lady at the counter what about my appointment at 1:00? She said shed radio and ask the status of the person who was to do my hair and that shed get back with me. I was given a lecture at how these were students and they were in training and things can run behind. I was told to be re-seated.At 1:20 no one had gotten back with me, so I again asked the same lady about the status. She apparently didnt remember me and asked me what I wanted. I again explained. She said no one had gotten back with her and that I could be seated.At that point, I said, No, I wouldnt be seated and that I wanted an answer. So she went and asked another girl at a computer terminal and they were in lengthy conversation. The lady came back and said that they didnt know where my hair person was and that she apparently had left the building. No apology, nothing.I then asked to speak to a manager and was told the manger had left at noon.Also, the last time that I got my hair cut (a simple hair cut, nothing unusual) at Aveda, it took 1 hour 45 minutes -- this was because there was a lack of instructors and so most of that hour and 45 minutes was spent waiting.Only go if you have LOTS of extra time to spend.

Paid $200 for highlights at a regular Aveda salon 6 weeks ago and went into the institute to get the new growth touched up. How can you botch up touching up roots? Or so I thought! The color the instructor picked for my roots was multiple shades too dark - a dark brown - to blend with my light honey/gold hair. The instructor went back through my hair to check after the student and extended the dark color double what was necessary to cover my roots and in one section took it about five inches although the way to the end of my hair. RUINED my highlights and hair color! In addition, the institute no longer allows you to book a master student and your chances of getting a beginning student are as a good as getting a master student, and the charge is the same regardless of the students experience. I booked a master student to do my roots but got a beginning student and was told the booking service shouldnt have said it would book me a master student. Why even come here? For $18 more, $60, I could have gone to an Aveda salon and had my roots touched up by a junior stylist without all the trouble I had at the institute. And thats what I will do going forward. For now, Ill have to pay another $200 to fix my botched honey/gold highlights ruined by the Aveda Institute. AWFUL, AWFUL!! Go at your own risk!!

Love the facials

I always get my hair cut here because I like to help out the students, and they all do a great job. They are trained to have really great customer service and the instructors come by periodically to check on the student which is reassuring. It is a nice salon experience for one fourth the price.

15 haircuts, and they are all superb. No more $100 haircuts--and I get more compliments for my $18 haircuts than I ever did for the others. Luckily I live real close but its well worth a drive.

I went here for a haircut and a facial. The haircut was good, and the experience was very solid for a school atmosphere. The facial was amazing! You feel like you are in a for-real Aveda spa the whole time - great practitioners, amazing ambiance, soothing atmosphere. Lovely! And it is the best deal in town.

Not as a student, but as a customer of the service done by the students.Great place to go get a hair cut for a good deal. I have never had a bad cut/color service. Not always exactly what Im after, but the educators are there to help students, which has prevented any problems in my experience.

I usually have a very good experience here. However, my last appointment was a disappointment. I had a scheduled appointment with a master student but I was put with someone else with no explanation. I think as a returning client, I should have been informed.

I have been a client at the Aveda Institute in Michigan for years and have had some slow but always successful haircuts - often they were great.I have not had the same experience at the Austin Aveda Institute. I had a similar experience as the person who posted about the mullet looking cut - I stopped her multiple times, showed a picture, talked about what others had done in the past. But to no avail. I was told it would look good. I as well will be wearing a ponytail for a while until I can get a decent cut. There are students who are talented there but I am no longer comfortable with the supervision of the instructors to see the haircut be successful. It is a 2+ hour $20 gamble. Good luck!

Ive been going to Aveda Institute Austin for years and rarely have I had a less than stellar experience. Carmen was absolutely a doll and she did a great cut. I was only in Austin for a short weekend as I have moved out of state and I was thrilled that I was able to get an appt.

I had a great haircut here the last time (5 stars) I came but as with any hair school...you get what you pay for. I know I shouldnt play russian roullette but here we are. Again this is a hair but the salon environment is a clean and pretty one! Kind staff and sweet students but I was sent away looking crazy and half done. Face framing layers are patchy and start at different lengths. Def something I can touch up at home though and not the end of the world. Again...this is a school. Last time I scheduled before a date and it was amazing! That one was a few weeks from graduating but bless her, the girl I had recently probably was only a couple weeks in. Major diff. Ask for the most experienced if you are more particular.

My first experience at Aveda was great, however, the second time I got a brand new student who cut my hair so unevenly it was laughable. My problem wasnt with the student because I know shes learning, my aggravation comes from the instructor who told her my hair looked perfect and she did such a good job. When I pointed out that it was shorter in the front and uneven, the instructor asked me if I wanted it that way! Just make sure you request a student with more experience since you cant trust the instructors to correct mistakes.

The retail staff here is excellent. I am always offered help as soon as I walk in the door. Their knowledge of products is very good as well. Never a wait, I can pop in easily for products I am out of and be out the door in minutes.

If youre looking for a cheap haircut and arent on a strict schedule, this is a great spot. They offer complimentary hand or shoulder massages with every haircut. I got a great $12 haircut from a student, but had her teacher step in and fix up the cut at a few points, so even if the student made a few mistakes, the teacher corrected them and I came away with a great cut. The appointments are supposed to be just an hour long, but mine took two hours, so dont plan anything too soon after your haircut.

I had a very positive experience, not only with the results of my coloring and cut, but with the positive vibe in general. Drysden was my stylist & she did an amazing job, I would highly recommend her if your new to the salon & not sure who to book with. It was my first time & I chose her on a whim & because she was student of the month & she was on point. The instructor was amazing as well & very hands on so at no point did I feel uncertain or afraid, which I often feel at other salons. Pricing is insanely affordable & Ill be back in 4 weeks.

The spa services offered to the public are very much like a real spa, except youll pay less than half. Its a tremendous value. The facility is beautiful, the facial I received was excellent and my skin looked and felt great.

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I got my makeup done for a Valentines Day dinner with my boyfriend. I had the worst student in the world. To begin the session, she tells me that the Aveda makeup isnt very good, so she went to the back and pulled out her personal makeup (which doesnt seem very sanitary and is very unprofessional). Her friend (another student) also walked by and said I hope you dont mess this one up, too. She put her number in my phone and told me to send her a text with a picture of me in my makeup with my dress on. I ended up with clown makeup. Needless to say, I did not text her that picture. I didnt know that makeup could be messed up that badly. I didnt really notice until I got in my car, but luckily I had makeup remover in my car and I stopped in a parking lot on the side of the highway before I got home to remove it all. I didnt want anyone to see me that way. I think it definitely depends on which student you get, but I had a miserable experience.

By far the worst place i’ve ever been. really disappointing. they not only damaged my hair completely. but dyed the inside of my hair dark brown and bleached the outside of it even though it was already light. All i asked for was highlight. this is not what i asked for. Spent a lot of money and time. They have ruined my hair completely&. cut it short after having damaged it. When i came back 30 minutes later after i left they refused to fit me in and fix it. WORST place ever. DONT go for any kind of coloring or styling. The prices are not worth it and they just try to make you pay for more stuff as they go.

I have been to several hair schools in my day. And the outcome varies from the best haircut Ive ever gotten to OMG, can this be fixed?? At this location I would say it is much closer to the first statement! I really enjoyed my experience. I went twice in the last year, had two very different stylists, and both times I got a very solid haircut. The instructors are really great, practically helicopter parents to the students, but really kind and positive towards everyone. I have to admit that I didnt go in for anything crazy, just a trim and reshaping or layering. However, they nailed it. I would go again without a second thought! A great haircut for a great price, count me in!

Loved my stylist! She was so fun! It was very collaborative and a great experience.

My stylist was named NDera. I needed a good amount of work done, yet she promised me that I will not leave my chair until I feel like a million bucks and she actually kept her promise! She did all the works; facial, head and neck massage, took a considerable amount of time to perfect my intended hair style, and made me feel really good as a person. Most known stylists are recognized for how they make a person look AND feel. I really recommend going to her to get the service you deserve.

I have been here twice and had a master student do a Full Foil Highlight on my hair. I am going to be sad as she is leaving soon but I feel confident with the school that the next master student I get will be up to par. All services are consulted and inspected by a teacher. If there is something you are not satisfied with they will offer to fix it before you leave.

Avery did my color and cut. It did take some time to figure out the right technique but once she had plan she hit the ground running. She did a phenomenal job! Definitely going back to see her again.

This place is great!! I was so impressed by the students and the instructors. Shampoo, cut, blow dry, and style for $18 and this is one of the best haircuts Ive ever had.

Ive been to the Aveda institute for several different services, with mixed results. This review is regarding my pedicure experience.Bottom line: skip the pedicure services here, its worth a few extra dollars to go to a professional for far better, lasting results.The Details: I went for a 30 min $15 express pedicure a few days before Christmas. The student was very personable, but not so skilled. She spent lots of time massaging my legs (which was nice), but i had to ask her to groom my nails (which she did). She did not scrub my rough spots thought, which i assumed was standard for all pedicures. I dont expect students to be perfect, but i do expect them to have some level of knowledge about how to do a pedicure. The polish job is the real problem. I left with polish on the skin around my nails, and the surface was rough, not pretty and smooth. I pay for pretty polish, not a job equivalent to what i can poorly do to my toes at home. AND within 3 days polish had completely flaked off of one nail. Within 3 weeks, it was 85% gone. One of my favorite things about a pedicure is walking out with pretty polished toes that, in past experiences at other salons looked good for a month and more. When I complained, they offered me a free redo, which i took. The guy that did my nails was also very personable and he promised to take good care of me as a result of my experience. Fine, he buffed, he filed, he gave me a leg masque. Polish job.. was ok. One day later, i noticed a chip on one toe. Two days later 1 1/2 of my toes were bare of polish. Its day 3 and 8 toes are still polished, but i dont hold hope that this will last. I dont know if its the polish or the process causing the problem, but I have no plans to go back for another pedicure. This is a poor value, and I encourage others to save their money for other services.... the facials are fab!

Absolutely terrible experience. I called and explained my 10 year old wanted pink and blue rainbow hair. I was told they open at 3pm and it would cost $32. When I got there with my incredibly eager daughter they told me they needed 4 hours to do what she wanted and not enough time was booked. I said, I understood and lets book another day. Thats when I learned they open in the morning and not at 3pm and that it would start at $72 not $32.They apologized and blamed it on the call center always screwing up. We did not rebook and my daughter left in tears.

I appreciate the friendliness and patience of the staff that works there. My life is hectic and with their help, I dont have to let my looks be another thing to worry about.

Read the fine print before signing a contract to go to school here. Even if you only attend 1 month you still have to pay for 30% of the very expensive tuition. The graduation rate is only 75% and the placement rate is ONLY 52%. 20k and half of you wont find a job? Not great. Read every word of the contract.

Today my partner and I went in for facials, and we both loved it!I’m a big fan of aveda and have visited several different institutes around but never recieved a facial service by a student. Today was my first and it was terrific. Both of our esthetician’s today are graduating in June so have been trained well, but it was just as good or even better than some facials that I’ve had from established spas and professionals. Staff is really nice, but they are horrible at mixing color. Went in to get a nice pastel lavender, came out with dark bluish grey. Not even close!! Not sure how that even happened.

Fair warning ladies and gents:Schedule your day with a LOT of wiggle time.Today I got a call 15 minutes AFTER I got my confirmation text to say they decided to move me to 3PM. Mind you, this is after my appointment had already been misscheduled once.This was after I had left the house, 45 minutes before my appointment.I arrive and get no sincere apology.I understand these are students, and things happen, but if you are charging money for a service that means you are a business, and this is unacceptable. I dont care which student was to do my cut. You focus on confirmed appointments, which mine was as of THURSDAY.There is no effort to adequately manage client expectations, and no effort to show genuine concern and regret for negatively impacting a persons day.Customer service and schedule management might be something to add to the course load in the future.

You must try the Spa facial- I have been doing it for nearly 2 years now to rejuvenate my body and mind!! Either 60 or 90 minutes - both are awesome!

For a inexpensive haircut this place really makes you work for it. I had an 11:45 appointment and still had to wait 45 minutes. You getter speedier service at the doctors office. Even when I let the receptionist know I had been waiting 30 minutes she came back to let me know it would be 10-15 without any apology for the wait. And I wasnt the only person who was waiting. The lady next me waited more than hour. The haircut....they stylist seemed nice enough, but completely disinterested in cutting my hair. As I filled out paperwork she was on her phone. She offered no real suggestions when I asked. She half listened to what I was saying then quickly rushed me through. She only trimmed my hair, gave me some bangs and framed my face. When I asked for my layers to be re-touched she said she liked them where they were. Not really sure it was up to her, but I was already frustrated with the experience. I was clearly not excited about the cut so she framed because I felt the layers were uneven. The whole experience was shorter than I waited. And if this gal was a student, no teacher ever came to check to see what I was getting done or to check on her work.I get better service at supercuts.
