I went in for a color with Addison, student number 155. She was amazing. She is a perfectionist. I will definitely follow her to the salon she goes to after she graduates next month.

My boyfriend called about appointments for me and they assumed it was for him but when he said it wasnt for him they said that the latest cosmetology was open was until 4:30pm and then hung up. Didnt even get to ask about other appointment dates. Looks like Im never coming here (:

Ive never been here personally but a really close friend of mine reminded me it even existed and let me tell you, I was pleasantly surprised with the quality and professionalism they brought to the table. I was hoping to get a solid straight blade cut from Jamee, but they were busy, however I was suggested to Mo to get the job done. He. Freaking. Delivered! Hands down will absolutely be there for the next round when the time is due!

I came in for a balayage a few weeks ago. Unfortunately the color ended up very orange and brassy. I came back for a correction and was lucky to be paired up with Miss Addison (student# 155). She did such an amazing job. Her attention to detail was top notch and it was a pleasure watching her work. You can tell this was her passion and it showed. I also wanted to give kudos to her instructor Miss Erica. Both of these ladies are awesome at what they do. The professionalism and customer service was first class. Ive already scheduled another appointment to be back to see Addison before she graduates next month. If you are looking to get bayalage, run dont walk to see Addison ASAP. You will not regret it!!.

Lets just say I can be a bit picky when it comes to my hair. Trying out a new salon or hairdresser makes me nervous but glad I gave this place a try. Mariah did a great job calming me down & listened to my ramblings with eager attention. She offered me a few suggestions on the back of my hair & the length for my bangs and then off we went. She did a great job & I will definitely go back when I need another service. Thank you Mariah!

On day 3 of classes, but so far its been great! They were so helpful with the entire enrollment process. Mrs. Nicey has been so much fun, as well as patient & informative so far to learn from! Very much looking forward to taking advantage of the many opportunities they offer!

Chrissy is a teacher here and she is the most unqualified, terrible hairstylist I have ever unfortunately come across in my life. She does not know how to cut/trim/anything hair! Do not let her near you with a pair of scissors or clippers. Save yourself the heartbreak and go somewhere else. Or just have someone else cut your hair.

The employee Chrissy is not a hairstylist she is a butcher. She will butcher your hair. When you ask for no layers she will give you exactly two disconnected layers that don’t blend and are miles apart. She is unapologetic, unprofessional and she hates hair.

I received a eyebrow wax from Esthetician Student Jacqueline. She was very careful and gave me exactly what I asked for. Kudos to her, highly recommended!

I went to Paul Mitchell to get a signature facial by Teirra Seward. She’s very professional and attentive talks you through each step of the facial also assessing your skin and giving a good recommendation for products to use.I highly recommend her you won’t be disappointed.

I was apprehensive to go to a school at first. I wanted a balayage touch up and a 2 inch trim, last time I went to a salon it was about 200 bucks, this time I spent 80 including tip.I had a phase 2 named Katie do my hair and it was awesome. She verified what I wanted before she touched my hair so we both had an understanding. I am very picky about the blonde in my hair and super sensitive about it being cut but she delivered. She graduates the program in July so make an appointment.

Was a little nervous about trying a school, but had a great experience. Sofia cut my hair under supervision by her lead , Josh.They listened carefully and discussed the cut thoroughly before Sofia even picked up the scissors. Great job!

The phase two student was very nice however lacked in basic skills. The haircut did not have a pattern, they were just picking up strands and cutting and favoring one side more than the other. I knew from the minute they starting parting my hair it was not going to go well. I could tell they were not sure exactly how to do the cut, an inverted layered bob, and should have asked for help. Honestly, not worth it! I will never go cheap again. This haircut is going to end up costing me more because I have to get it fixed by a professional. I refused to go back and let that student or any other student fix it, they will not touch my hair again! Too bad, i was really hoping for the best but just did not pan out. I think the teachers NEED to get involved more, more than just keeping an eye from a distance, they NEED to check the students work during the cut and before the customer leaves. I actually went to cosmetology school some many years ago and that is what our teachers did. It was a win win, for the student and the client. So I am actually more upset with them and their do nothing approach than upset with the student. Paul Mitchell School get your act together!

I personally attended this school and I had such a hard time. The lack of communication between the administration and students creates such a stressful environment, it’s impossible to learn and keep up with curriculum. They change scheduling really often and they don’t inform the students about important school activities until the last minute.

I had such a great experience here and will be going back soon! Katy #135 did such an incredible job. First of all, the hair washing experience was spa-like and so relaxing. Hair stylists have always had a hard time with my hair for some reason, but Katy gave me the best cut of my life. She really listened to what I was wanting, asked questions and made sure she understood what I wanted. Plus, she was really sweet, took her time and made sure I felt comfortable. I had so many compliments on my new cut!

She definitely knows a lot about hair and always explains what she is going to do next. Also gives great recommendations. This place is amazing for people who cant afford a fancy salon price but want the fancy salon feeling! I absolutely love coming here and yet to have had a bad experience. They staff is super friendly and helpful when scheduling an appointment. The stylists are amazing and definitely listen to what you want before beginning. I used to go to other schools but now this is my favorite and only salon!

A young lady was doing another woman’s hair today into some rainbow colors and it turned out beautifully. She seemed very nice in nature and polite in how she spoke to her client. I absolutely applaud this, as this is how you’re suppose to be. However, there was an older student working on another client that was completely belligerent in how she spoke just in general. More curse words than I care to remember and very obscene in nature with her tone. I believe her name was Janey. If you don’t receive much clientele because of her I would completely understand. Her mouth was repulsive, as was the way she carried herself.

I have been using the Paul Mitchell School for about 5 years and I love it! We are very lucky to have this facility in Central Texas! You get the top quality Paul Mitchell Products and excellent service at a fraction of the cost of a regular Paul Mitchell salon. I go every 6 weeks to have my hair colored and I make an appointment when I am there for the next time. They send out a few reminders and call the day before to remind me! The new facility is lovely. They have an advanced program called phase 2. If you are concerned about a student working on you, you can pay a little more for Phase 2, but I personally have had no problems with the Phase 1 students. They are supervised closely and are very willing to listen to your requests. They often ask for help if they need it and the atmosphere is encouraging and professional. Stop wondering if you should give it a try - just do it!

I had an enjoyable experience today. The stylist in Phase 2 was very confident--she got my bang trim right the first time!! The facial that I had afterwards was almost as good as those in the past. This young womans fingers were just too cold for me to be comfortable in the beginning;, but every warm towel and steam improved my ability to relax. I left with a really great haircut and style (the stylist even touched it up a bit after the facial before I left.) The skin on my face felt refresh and moisturized. Overall, I was happy with the results from both services. I have been a client of this school for nine years and their goal to achieve customer satisfaction has been met with me.

I love to get my hair done at the school! The wash house is one of my favorite rooms in the building! The students & instructors are very attentive! The prices are great and my hair looks great! Oh and I cant wait to try the spa services next :) My skin deserves just as much attention!

I just had my hair trimmed and colored by the lovely LaTosha. She did a great job, and was very personable and friendly! Also, the facility is very nice! Its new and modern. All of the staff is friendly and they want to make you feel and look your best. I would definitely recommend going here! Ill be returning in the future. :)

I just recently had my long blonde hair chopped off and dyed a bright shade of red. I had this done at Paul Mitchell Austin.I was so impressed with the professionalism of the staff and students.My particular stylist was very sweet, she was eager to help me change my hair and was excited with me.The massage with the washing of my hair was perfect. The instructors on the floor were very patient with the students and very helpful to me.I will be coming back here again and again. I recommend this place to all my friends!

I was finally able to bring my 10 year old daughter to this school for a quality haircut and style and she walked away looking like a fashion model! The staff were courteous, professional and extremely qualified. I would highly recommend this facility for a wonderful and affordable hair style. I cant wait to make an appointment for myself!

Overall, it was a great experience. I was skeptical at first since it was a school, but the stylists that take clients are required to meet certain standards first, so for anyone that is considering this but is skeptical like I was, you shouldnt worry. The only, sort of, downside is that it took a lot longer than a normal salon appointment, they take their time since they are still students and have to check in with a supervisor each step of the way, so if you book an appointment here please make sure your schedule is open! I had an all over color(bleach blonde) and haircut done and it took around 4.5 hours. However, what it lacked in timeliness it more than made up for in enthusiasm and skill. Going to Paul Mitchell the School is great because you dont get the, in my experience, jaded attitude of stylists that have been doing hair for a long time, here you get the refreshing enthusiasm and love for what they are doing. My stylist was Sierra #139, I would highly recommend her, the execution of my color processing was great and she was meticulous throughout. The haircut I wanted was much shorter than I had ever gone, so it was a little nerve-wracking, but Sierra pulled it off perfectly and I absolutely love my hair and will probably stick with this haircut and color for a long time. Lastly, you cant beat the prices that you get here, my session was $60 in total. I will certainly be going back for all my salon appointments! Please give this place a try!

I went to the Paul Mitchell school on a Saturday and they were able to take me immediately with an exceptional wait time. Teresa (113) from phase one cut my hair perfectly, listening to every request and continuously checking to see if I liked what she was doing. This is by far the best haircut experience Ive had and will definitely return again.

I went to receive have my blow dry straight and cut into a style and their student Corey did an excellent job on my hair. I have made another appointment to have her do my hair again. If you want to use her you had better get in soon as she will be graduating soon.

Yami and Carmin lightened my hair as much as they could without damaging it with the help of Crystal their teacher. It’s not a light as I wanted originally but it’s undamaged and a gorgeous blonde which is what’s most important and necessary when going dark to light. They were all incredibly sweet. Her hand positioning and technique for cutting hair could use a little work but she’s still in school learning and it is a better cut than I have received in a many expensive salons. I was there all day and the total was a 1/3rd of what I have normally paid at a regular salon with less desirable results. This was a wonderful experience and I with definitely be back. Thanks ladies!

I had an amazing facial with Tiffany here at the paul Mitchell school. I felt very comfortable and taken care of. The ladies here were extremely attentive and talked me through the process. I loved every moment and wish I would have come sooner. I will definitely be back.

I booked an appointment for 12.30pm for highlights and a haircut and here I am at 1.13pm still waiting. I have been informed that the person who booked my appointment messed up and Im not even on their system. So now Ive been rescheduled for another day. I want to atleast get a haircut in today since I have events planned this weekend. Its been 50mins and Im still waiting. Poor customer service. Try some other place. Highly disappointed!!

I went here on the recommendation of my sister, to get my hair done for my wedding.Marissa worked on my hair and she was amazing. My wedding was at 6:30pm and I was getting my hair done at 9:00am... and it stayed put during the entire day, without feeling like I had tons of product in my hair. I will be going back to get other stuff done. Sadly, Marissa will be graduating soon but Im sure I can find someone else who is talented and dedicated.

I honestly think people just come to this school because of the name. Before starting I had heard so many things about Paul Mitchell , I did my tour and I was like “ nah , everyone seems really nice “ I cannnnnot cannot stress this enough , if you are of color .. choose a different school. At first everyone seems all nice and friendly until time goes by, you can definitely see the favoritism that’s shown from the director to the “instructors”. They will nickle and dime you for EVERYTHING! You pay your tuition and extra expenses just keep coming up. I wouldn’t recommend this school. There’s other schools you can get your hours & ACTUALLY LEARN something, pick them . I had some issues with attendance due to PERSONAL & Health reasons, I kept them updated every single time. They act understanding over the phone and as soon as I come back to school I’m getting wrote up. Write up after write up as well as being threatened to be termited, as if life out side of school doesn’t keep going. If you have NO LIFE, never get sick, don’t have kids, & your family can wait to die until you’re done with school.. go here 🙃

I went in with YELLOW hair and left under 2 hrs later w/ a perfect ashy blonde color & great cut. The only thing Im bummed about is that the girl who worked on me (Venus 👍) is graduating tomorrow! 🖤[Expect to spend a little extra time at *any* beauty school, but for the price and care you receive its worth it. (Like, $50 for a color correction & cut?? Whaaaa?)]

Id give no stars if I could. I was in Austin the weekend of 9/15 for a charity event and had booked an appointment a week prior for an updo. I called ahead as I was unused to Austin traffic, and thought I might be late. They said no problem. I was able to arrive right on time, and had sat down no more than 5 minutes, when the guy comes up to me and 2 other ladies, and apologizes, says he had to move our appointments to another day, as they didnt have enough students that day to cover the appointments, and others were running over. He offered us a deep conditioning on the house on next visit. I explained I was only in town for the evening for a charity event and wouldnt be back for another year. His reply was he was so sorry. Why wasnt I informed of this when I called an hour prior? Why couldnt one of the 7 people standing around at the windows (student or instructor) have done my hair? I was unable to get in anywhere else to have it done up. To say I wont be scheduling with PM in any city is an understatement. Next year, Ill go to a salon. Not happy with this experience.

I have always been EXTREMELY picky when it comes to people doing my hair, and I have never gone to a school to get my hair done, since friends have always had very bad experiences. However Paul Mitchell had a pretty high rating on Google reviews so I went ahead and tried it out, needless to say I WAS BLOWN AWAY!!! My haircut took about 3 and a half hours but it was well worth the time! The student that worked on my hair took so much care when it came to my cut, the reason that it takes so long, is because they have an initial consultation with you about your hair , and what you want, and once the hair cutting begins the instructors have the student complete sections and they come and cross check their work so far to make sure that your haircut is coming out fabulous! I will definitely be going back their for my next haircut on my mane!

Honestly, I was really nervous about going here. Ive never been to a beauty school to have my hair done by students but my husband recently lost his job and this was something I could actually afford. Taylor the student was awesome. She did a deep conditioning treatment and was excellent at cutting my hair. She listened to what I wanted. Which I loved and I liked that she actually took the time to do it right. When Wendy her instructor came over she checked over my hair and trimmed a few places she had missed. At first I thought Wendy was kinda rude but then I realized shes just straight forward and blunt. Which I like in a person. Before I had gone up there I had already bleached my hair 4 times and toned my hair twice thinking I could do it on my own but I could not get the orange/yellow out. I was going from bright red hair. I even put blue manic panic on it to try and tone down the orange but ended up with some blue streaks. Wendy knew what the right toner was to put on my hair and now its a beautiful blonde with no more blue, orange or yellow tones.The only thing I would critic on is I did not feel great about how the instructor told Taylor how to cut my bangs. They dont really look side swept. Another thing is it does take a while. I was there a total of 3 hours on Tuesday but I understand they are learning and Id rather them take the time to do it right, then to rush and screw my hair up.Thank you Taylor and Wendy. I will definitely be returning and Taylor will make a wonderful beautician/stylist.Just a tip. Be completely honest about your hair and what youve already done to it.

I had a wonderful facial done on Feb 2nd at Paul Mitchell. Riley was knowledgeable, through, and confident. The creams and treatments did not break me out. I plan to go again.

All the staff and students I interacted with were very nice. Almost no one is just standing around. The students help each other if they arent with a client of their own. Ive been coming to the school for several years and plan to continue to do so. Only into these years have I had one experience where the color I requested didnt happen.Totally worth the time.

I always have good service with LaTosha #58. My hair stays good for about a week and a half then I return back to her. She does my relaxers and I never get burned, the relaxer is removed at a good amount of time. Go to her if you need your hair done nicely, you wont regret it.

I had a super HORRIBLE experience here. First and foremost I wanted a root touch up. My appointment was at 1 in the afternoon I am writing this at 8:30 when I left. I said Id like to try harly Quinn colors ( why not? ) More on that later. So after explaining what. Wanted we begin, they start by confusing the student and telling her to different things. They ended up cutting two inches not one off my ends. Then the bleaching starts......it last until 8:00 pm. For ROOTS. two inch long roots. My hair is already platinum and I have a side shave so I didnt have a ton of hair. .... After we get it dry I look in the mirror and my heart breaks.....its MAC AND CHEESE YELLOW. ITS SO UGLY. Im obviously very upset. I pleas with them to fix it they tell me theres nothing that can be done . That this UGLY yellow is here to stay. Im now angry. I tell them that Im not paying for my hair to be Butcherd. Im in tears. My poor hair hasnt been touched since last August yet some how its been made to look even worse. The best part? The floor manager told me oh well kiddo thats all we can do . Then proceeded to tell me I needed to pay for it. DO NOT GO HERE. PLEASE GO ANYWHERE ELSE.

I love going to school here! The night school people are amazing and its really easy to get along with everyone! My learning leaders are very helpful and are always willing to work with you when you need help with something.

Victoria did an OUTSTANDING job of highlights using foils!!! The placement of the highlights are perfect, the staff treated me like royalty. Roni -the supervisor on the floor is just so knowledgeable and her personality provides a light and airy vibe to the atmosphere. I highly recommend.

I would give no stars if I could. In short, save yourself the TIME (literally hours and hours) and money and go get your hair done at a real place. They will remind you with attitude that this is a school. The heads of the program do not care about you or your hair you are entrusting them with.I went in to get my hair colored knowing full well this is a school and it may not come out exactly as I had planned. The student working on me was extremely sweet and told me I was her first person ever. Also not a big deal, as this is a SCHOOL I assumed she would have help along the way. Boy was I wrong. She not only received absolutely no help from any of the instructors, they all chit chatted away with each other as I proceeded to spend the next 5 hours sitting in the chair. Eventually students were instructed to jump in and help her finish the highlights on my hair.My appointment was at 11 and I had work at 4. (I was later scolded for not telling them I had a time constraint. How on earth would I know it would take more than 5 hours for my hair) By the time we finished highlighting and washing my hair I had to go. The scheduled me for the following day but at this point my frustration level was through the rough. I had already spent 5 hours there and did not want to go back for 3 more the following day. I had to call in to work to let them know I would be late.The instructors and staff had so much attitude about having to leave. The supervisor came over to look at my hair and said well I would have let that sit for longer but if she has to go... Apparently this is not the salon for you unless you have endless free time on your hands. The only help I was given was a stern reminder that this is a school. No offer for a free continuation service, no offer to be worked on by an instructor, absolutely NO refund. My hair is now platinum blonde (DEFINITELY not what I wanted, my bottom highlights sat for almost 2 HOURS) with some orange parts as there was no time for toner... cant wait to spend hundreds of dollars to get this fixed....Instructors should work with students ALWAYS but ESPECIALLY with first client jitters. If not, what is the point of them even being there. The girl working on me was incredibly sweet and should not have been thrown into the deep end the way that she was.

I love the new location. It feels more like a salon and spa. I enjoyed my experience when I was there getting my lashes done. Everyone seemed really nice and welcoming. I will go again and try more skin services.

Came in to see Rannel Bradley 131 again and as usual he did an awesome job with my hair! He was super friendly and helpful. The cut and color of my hair came out perfect and I highly recommend coming in to see him if you need anything done :)

Go somewhere else. Not worth the time/money.I went for a color and a trim appointment. No highlighting/layering needed. I was there for over 3 hours and left still needing to blow dry my own hair and I currently look like Elvira even though I was supposed to be an ash blonde. Bad enough my husband and male coworkers actually noticed and asked what went wrong.Never going back.Update: any work they did to try to fix my hair, I got to pay for.

Lots of care taken for cuts, perms and color at an affordable price. There is always consultation between the student beauticians, clients and their teachers. And actually, for fine hair like mine,their perms and hair products for curly hair have been the best Ive ever had!

This is my first time visiting the Paul Mitchell School in Austin and my experience was incredible. The staff were very nice, they took their time on my cut and did not rush me so there for my cut turned out to my satisfaction. My hair stylist was Kim 124. I will be a regular here.

I would have given zero stars if it was possible. I called for a conditioning treatment and they told me to be here at 4:30pm. I showed up on time and sat for twenty minutes before someone came up to me and said that the delay was due to a change in shifts. At what point do you NOT know that and why would you schedule me to an appointment during a shift change?!?!? He also told me that they were setting up immediately and it wouldnt be long. Ten minutes later I walked out the door. I can see why the stars for this place are low. I understand that it is an academy but when you are unable to properly schedule people, wow, that is just poor service.

I am a recent Paul Mitchell graduate and I highly recommend this school! I went part-time at night and had a wonderful time. Great staff and future professionals to work with. I miss it already

I absolutely love it here!! I felt very comfortable and at ease. Due to the fact that I have very long and thick hair, my color (Ombré) and cut was a long process but Morgan was very professional and patient at all times. My hair looks amazing and I will be back!!!

Kassy was so amazing to work with and she did a great job. She was very sweet and Kept me laughing! The salon is open and a nice place to be, and I will definitely be coming back!

I have never felt so angry about my hair in my life. They ruined my birthday and stole my money. I cried for an hour when I got home from my appointment that I scheduled on my birthday. They took all the money I had to get my hair done and it didnt look any different than when I left the house that morning. Worst customer service ever! It does not take 6 hours to do highlights. Their stage 2 students have as much confidence as me and my friends did in middle school with a box of hair color from the dollar store.

Great environment. Friendly staff and professionals. All in all, a great experience. I cannot recommend a better place to get your haircut than right here.

This rating is for the product pricing, not the services (which have been excellent)—their large bottles of product were on sale a few storefronts down at Ulta for 50% off, but I sadly paid full price at the School. Lesson learned. Get your hair cut here but buy the product somewhere else.Update: I appreciate the response from the owner below, but I have to take it with a grain of salt. I did return to the Paul Mitchell School 15 minutes after making the purchase with the information that I was quite disappointed to find they were 50% off at Ulta, and I asked if I could return them since I had only just purchased them (was speaking to the same woman who had sold me the product). She said absolutely nothing about matching promotions and said the only thing they would do was offer store credit. So if you match promotions--which I would much rather have done instead of getting a store credit--you need to make sure your staff knows this.

I was very unsatisfied with the service. My daughters went had an appointment and was there 4 1/2 hours, for a wash, blow dry, and flat iron. The next day when my daughter woke up it look like she never gotten her hair done. I called the manger to let her know and also tell her how unprofessional the ladies were. One of the ladies was only suppose to trim my daughter hair and she cut 3 inches off. The manger was suppose to call me back and I have yet heard back from her. I wasnt happy nor was my daughters happy with their hair.

The stylist I had Corrie was fantastic.But the students doing nothing all day besides slowing down my service talking around us.... Not good. I want to see your students learning not slacking!!!-A former marine lol student.

The Paul mitchell school has been the only place Ive gotten my hair colored in the last couple of years. Im in love with the pm shines developer and cannot break up with it!! The developer leaves my hair so shiney and smooth. I keep coming to school because I do not know any salons that use it. Ive had mostly great experiences. Once I given permanent color instead of Demi permanent which I always requested. They refused to compensate me or even let me speak to a manager. Just given the reasoning theyre students. A couple of times they couldnt blow dry my hair well and pulled hard on my head. I mentioned this recently to the learning leader and he seemed appreciated by my feedback.

If I could I would give them zero people I know go here to get something done and they put their two sense in why they can’t doit n then they try to use ur money for other stuff like deep conditioning first off these people would tell u one thing then do random stuff and charge u for a bunch of stuff that u never asked for if u here for the first time make sure u tell them what u want exactly if they can’t provide what u want just leave don’t do nothing else

My hair was ruined beyond belief, Thanks to not only to the students but also the instructors. I had 2 appointments at Paul Mitchell within 1 week due to major screw ups. I was so excited for my first visit thinking I was going to have a beautiful experience. I brought pictures of exactly the color I wanted. But due to cosmetology language when I asked for light brown I was given dark wine red smh. Not only that, My haircut was crap, She missed about 4 inches of my hair, totally jagged haircut when I asked for an straight even haircut. Mind this, the instructor is the one who was guiding her about 80% of the time so I trusted that my services were going to come out beautiful. My appointment lasted 4 hours (6pm-10pm, I was the last client there -__-) and my hair looked horrible. I paid for my services and scheduled my next appointment to fix what they had just done. So I now have pictures from my daughters 1st birthday with wine red hair and a horrible haircut, ahhhh the memories. Stay tuned for my next review where I will tell you about the appointment that I scheduled to fix the horrible job they did.
