I’ve been coming to Esquina Tango for the past 2 Mondays for Samba with Melissa, and I love it!! Melissa exudes this amazing positive energy that’s contagious and the class is so much fun! She breaks down the routine into small parts so it’s easy to learn. The music is πŸ”₯and I get a great workout too! Looking forward to next week!!

Sydney was a great instructor. She made us all feel confident in our learning even though it was a class of mostly first timers taking Salsa.

I attended my first outdoor class today at Esquina Tango. They have platforms at 6 feet of distance for each person, and protocols to get on and off your platform, which include wearing a mask when you are not on your platform, so I felt safe at all moments. Because their neighbors don’t want to hear the music, they provide us with receivers where we plug our own earphones. This place never stops innovating to overcome every obstacle and provide the community with affordable exercise, dance, music, love, a feeling of family and belonging, and the joy of life, while responsibly keeping the community safe.

Esquina Tango is one of my favorite places in Austin. The music, dancing, energy, and friendships have made it a second home. During the pandemic, Esquina Tango continued to provide online classes and wellness to the community on a donation basis. I am incredibly thankful for the ways this organization has enriched my life and the community.

Came for a social on dia de los muertes and was quite bored. This is not a welcoming environment if you want to dance. I honestly felt like I walked into a quincenera that I wasnt invited too and everyone acts like youre out of place. Plus the music is super depressing and slow. I heard three good songs the whole night and two of them were bachatas πŸ˜’Wouldnt recommend unless youre part of their click.

Very nice place to enjoy tango, dance and socialize indoors and outdoors. The indoor studio is very cozy but I specially loved their patio! We also enjoy an exquisite asado (argentine barbecue) during Austin Spring Tango Festival.

Fabulous non-profit community dance service. Esquina invites talented local instructors (and sometimes internationally known instructors) to give weekly classes in a range of dance styles. A range of social events are also available on many evenings. Highly recommended. (and the sound system is fabulous too πŸ₯°)

Love this place. Been coming to tango classes and Spanish conversation groups here off and on for years. The teachers and everyone that works here are so friendly. This place is more than a dance school, its a community-building non-profit, and a real asset to Austins cultural scene. Anyone interested in latin-inspired dance or culture needs to connect with Esquina. You will not forget it.

I have only been to Esquina Tango once, but I had an awesome time. I am not a dancer, but I love to exercise, so I attended the Salsa Aerobics class. Although it was very fast paced and I couldnt do all the moves correctly, it was fun and my heart rate definitely went up. We did a lot of turns and movement with our hips (all Latin inspired). As soon as I find a partner I will be signing up for the regular dance classes!

I have been a fan of Esquina Tango for seven years now. It was here that I got my start in Argentine Tango (as well as introduced to Kizomba and Lindy Hop, taken yoga classes, attended music concerts, viewed films!). Austin is fortunate to have a community center of South American culture like this. Monica Caivano is a force of nature, bringing outstanding teachers and events. She and Gustavo Simplis teach well attended, top notch Argentine tango classes, and the milongas (Argentine tango social dance parties) held there are always reliable for a good crowd of nice dancers.

Weve been attending their Tango classes which are top-knotch. Weve studied many forms of dance but this dance requires more than most ballroom dances. The emphasis here is on community and social dancing. There are plenty of activities in which to socialize and have fun at the same time. The atmosphere is warm and the building is perfect. If you are looking to learn dance (they do other types as well i.e. salsa, and other latin dances) and meet people this is a great place to do both at a reasonable price.
