The teachers care and the food is good. Well, most of the teachers care. Some teachers seem to only be there for the paycheck. Also, the bathrooms (which I know isnt about education) are utterly disgusting. There is urine on the floor and the toilets looked like they are flushed once every 2 days. They also lock parts of the building where students cant get in and its ridiculous.

Anywhere you go, you will find some aspect of the school as ghetto. Compared to other schools I have been to, Akins is by far the best behaved. Most teachers are great and they really care about your learning. The school provides a variety of organizations and opportunities. ( class of 2015)

This school was amazing. They really care about the success of their students. Dont pay any matter to those ghetto comments. If you noticed their comments arent even grammatically correct. It is a little bit biased. Overall great school

Akins is a really good school. I actually came here from Orlando expecting it to be mediocre, but it exceeded my expectations. The food here is above average, better than the watered down food from Orlando. It has a nice campus, and the teachers are always helping people . I dont think Ive had any mean teachers, but they can be somewhat nagging sometimes. The only downside is that the sports teams are probably the worst in Austin, might be an exaggeration. The teams are really bad. Other than that it is really good.

I have two kids that go here. The school is avant-garde in its approach to education. The various programs truly prepare kids for the post high school future.

I was in top 10% of my class. although it could be ghetto at times, I was involved with the right people and the right classes and I loved my time spent there. I was part of travel club and we fundraised to go to spain and france! best trip ever and I could not have done it without the help of my awesome teachers!! they have academies and i feel that helps with being able to focus on what you want to do in college. great school! dont listen to the ghetto rumors.

Best high school. Have many college readiness programs, many UT on-ramp classes and ACC dual credits

That school is ghetto Im a freshman their and theirs alot of potheads and alot of girls get pregnant here and damn fights be breaking out from time to time but this whole week fights broke out in the cafeteria lol Im not gonna say I hate it because Im a little ghetto too...sorry to say but the teachers are good well at least some of them...

It was like a school on a third world country the teacher a rude the 2 years i was there they thought me almost nothing and the classes where huge like 25-35 kids in a class that is huge need a little smaller classes and better teachers 2010-2012
