J.C. is a great instructor and a class act guy. Its a pretty small, tight-knit group over there. I dont train there regularly, but Ive visited a few times, since theyre affiliated with my gym. Always been impressed with the relaxed vibe and killer technique.

I started my BJJ journey with Claunch Academy after finishing high school wrestling and eager to try a sport that was similar but, new to me as I wanted to learn. I was welcomed by Jason and Griff as well as the whole crew with open arms and tough rolls. Everyone is passionate about bjj and willing to share their knowledge to help you with any parts of your game. I highly recommend stopping by for a class, they’re the real deal

I was looking around for a BJJ class nearby, and Claunch Academy so happened to be close so I made the call to join for a free class. I came in with no experience, with no wrestling or grappling background and 7 months later Im very motivated to continue doing BJJ.Claunch is a legit instructor, very nice, also helpful with many of the techniques that he teaches and has helped me improve my jiu jitsu. Everyone here is very chill, were all there to learn and help each other out on the things we could work on. If youre looking for a great jiu jitsu spot, I would recommend coming here.

Awesome academy with good people.They just want to have fun and learn Jiu Jitsu. There is gi, no gi and Judo based stand up grappling.

Started taking my son here when he was only 14. Had some apprehension because most who attended class were in their twenties or older. Turned out to be an awesome environment for him to learn. The people are all pretty easygoing and have a lot of respect for each other no matter what their level of experience. My son enjoyed every minute of it. Seemed like a very safe place to learn and quickly grow in your skill level if you’re really into it. We had to quit going once school started because it’s a ways away from us but plan to go back this summer. They even extended an invite for him to drop in on a class if we were in the area. Love these guys!

Joining the Claunch Academy is one of the best decisions Ive made. All the instructors show genuine care in helping you learn and advance. All the other students are always there to help you learn, its a very supportive environment. Its easily my favorite part of my week.

He gives you great feedback, and is always available for student questions.The school itself has Jason as the head instructor, and we have one additional black belt instructor, and one brown belt instructor. You will always have awesome instruction from high level people, and there is a wide range of student skill if you are looking for somewhere that has a lot of different levels to train with. Everyone is laid back, no drama, beginner friendly, and youll have a ton of fun. We even have a class on Sundays if you are busy and cannot make it to many classes during the week whether it is because of work or school.

Claunch Academy of BJJ is a great place to train for any skill level. Has 2 black belt instructors and 1 brown belt instructor, their knowledge is outstanding. It has a fun environment that encourages you to learn and grow at your own pace. Lots of rolls each class.

I have been learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu from Jason Claunch over the last couple of months and it has been awesome. Jason is a great instructor with attention to detail and the skills that show for it. The classes feel ego free and laid back, so you can really grow at the pace you desire. The students here are awesome to train with as they are skilled, knowledgeable and try their best to help you improve as well.

I went to Claunch Academy while living in Austin for a short time and have nothing but positive things to say. Jason was an informative instructor who was always positive and explained everything well.From the perspective of an overweight person, I was never pushed to do more than what I was capable of and the environment helped me to push myself to my limits without overdoing it. The people in the class were extremely encouraging and accommodating to my endurance without making me feel embarassed and helped me learn. Should I ever move back, I know I will have a place to learn and practice BJJ and would recommend this Academy in a heartbeat.

I have been on my Brazilian just jitsu journey for 10 years now. I will be more than honored to earn my black belt from Jason . I couldnt ask for a more humble instructor and look forward to many years helping the art grow along side this crew .

This is a great place to learn jiu jitsu. The academys atmosphere is friendly and welcoming to all students, both new and experienced. The culture of any institution always comes from the top down. Jason Claunch, the head coach, is an awesome instructor and an all around good guy. The other coaches are friendly and knowledgeable as well. I would absolutely recommend training here to anyone interested in starting or furthering their study of Brazilian jiu jitsu. Five stars all around.

Jason Claunch has a genuine care for his students and their progress in Jiu Jitsu. He personally spends the necessary time with you to make sure you grasp the nuances of each technique. His patience and high level knowledge of Jiu Jitsu makes him one of the best instructors in Austin. He has definitely helped me refine my game!
