I moved in to Austin sometime early last year. It has been one full year of association with this place. One thing I figured out is Coach Forrest is more invested in my training than even me, and that helps for someone like me who is at level 0 (or even lower). Being a teacher and a good martial artist are usually two different things and usually mutually exclusive, Coach Forrest is both. And then he went and found Coach Corey who started training us in JKD with the same energy and fervour. Coach Corey is also a BJJ practitioner and we now get BJJ training too. Coach Corey is always around helping out with detailed instructions and showing it as many times as one needs to see to practice the moves right. He also comes around when you are practicing giving words of wisdom. For some one like me who doesnt even know how to fall properly, this is important. I can see the progress on the ground, just needs to make sure that you dont miss any classes. Believe me, they will push you to not miss any classes and keep hitting the gym on a dailybasis.I, as some one who didnt even go out to play when I was a kid and have tried multiple ways to learn martial arts, finally have found something which makes me wish not to miss on a daily basis. Inch by inch progress is being made on this body which hasnt been worked much and I am seeing the results and also having fun while doing it.

This is a great place to study Jeet Kune Do, with a community of dedicated and enthusiastic coaches and students. Coaches Forrest and Corey are very experienced and knowledgeable, and are fantastic instructors. The school is very accommodating, with JKD offered every weekday, and also various other fitness and kickboxing classes offered throughout the day, so you can work to develop the level of fitness or martial arts skill you desire. All-in-all, a great place to train. Highly recommended!

I don’t have enough good things to say about this place. From the start, Forrest and Corey go through an extraordinary effort to make you feel at home. The private lessons in succession with small group classes make you feel like you’re making progress fast and the quality of instruction you receive at AIJKD is unparalleled to that of which I’ve seen nearly anywhere else. This is not even to mention that in the onset of the COVID 19 pandemic that this facility feels safe and clean while so many other fitness centers let the important safety precautions slip. Corey is an incredible teacher, a great guy, and a fantastic martial artist. If you’re looking for a great place to better yourself both physically and mentally all while having fun, you needn’t look any further.

Austin Impact seems to be one of the more comprehensive gyms out there. Fitness classes, Yoga and Martial Arts Technique rolled up into a neat schedule that runs the whole week. Professional coaches who are passionate about athletics and combat sports conduct lesson plans that fit beginners to advanced students. A multitude of goal oriented plans such as the 1 and done dietary coaching that helps people maintain good diets, or the Jeet Kune Do class that enables students to go from beginner Martial Artists to experienced Kickboxers. Austin Impact/Fighting Fit seemss to have it all. Forrest Claudill seems to have a clear goal in mind, to create a healthy, friendly and fun fitness community; to that purpose he creates member events, challenges with prices, and even runs a facebook community were members can chat, share experiences and achievements. A gym like this is difficult to find, a frienddly enviornment that encourages people from all walks of life to reach their goals, whether its weight loss or to be a strong martial artist. I truly cannot recommend this gym enough.

One of the greatest martial arts gyms I have ever attended. Sifu Forrest takes time to get to know his students and wants to help you meet your goals, whether it’s fitness or martial arts. Coach Corey is a great instructor as well, he has studied MMA for 15 years and is willing to take time out of his schedule to teach you more than JKD and kickboxing.

This is hands down one of the best places to train!! Very clean gym, super friendly members, and Coach Forrest is one of the most humble and kindest souls in the martial arts community. He not only teaches the fighting style but the art and philosophy behind it. If you want to master focus, patience, and virtue then come here its a no brainer. I spent time checking out so many gyms when I moved to Austin, after my first class i fell in love with the art

I have attended four Jeet Kune Do classes and Im enjoying learning from Sifu Forrest. He is very knowledgeable in martial arts and he is focused on his students learning in a practical way. I enjoy the class and know that what I am learning I can apply to real world situation. I searched various other training facilities in Austin to help me learn self-defense and I am very happy with the progress that I am making in the class. Since I dont come in with any knowledge of Jeet Kune Do or other martial arts I am very appreciative of his patience and his attention to ensuring that I get the most of the class. I would recommend this class for any woman, who like me, wants to learn techniques they can use to protect themselves against an attack.

The martial art studio has a great environment and instructor. I have been with the club over 5 years now and i just keep going back!! They have new equipment, excellent students and supreme teaching methods of JKD martial arts. The classes are scheduled mostly all week so you can attend the classes on a weekday or weekend. Other than that, it has kept me in great shape and sharpen my fighting skills-- Knowledge is power--

First let me start by saying that Forrest is AWESOME instructor. The class is really cool and after a few classes you really start to feel a nice flow and rhythm. You also learn a lot about the martial art Jeet Kune Do and not only does it make you better at defending yourself but it makes you a better person.

In each class or lesson, Im improving faster than expected. Due to both the quality of instruction from Forrest and the helpfulness of everyone here. Friendliness and patience is all Ive seen from the other students who train here.As a bonus, since starting the JKD program with Forrest and Pete, my stress level has gone down. Which sounds odd, because Id never have linked martial arts with calmness. Looking back, Im glad I made myself take that leap of faith, to start training.

I had a lot of fun learning something new. The community of people there are highly accepting of newcomers, and through the positive environment there, I quickly learned many techniques, met new people, and have had my self confidence skyrocket. Try this place! Whether you want to focus on fitness or martial arts, you’ll find some great people and awesome classes at this gym. The students and trainers are super welcoming and the classes are a ton of fun. You get a good workout and well-rounded training in correct form, footwork, self defense, and fighting technique. While JKD with Sifu Forrest is my home base, there are a lot of options, and members can attend whichever classes work best for them. We are lucky to have a guest instructor from Doce Pares Texas teach Filipino Martial Arts on Sundays, and it’s a can’t-miss class in my opinion. I also love Bharath and Ivan’s fitness kickboxing classes, and you’ll definitely want to take advantage of the yoga classes. You won’t get bored at this gym!

I joined this class for a few reasons: 1.To gain more control over my mind and body 2.Stress Relief 3.Get in shape. I can say 100% that this class hits all 3 with one big kick and more! Things Ive gained that I wasnt expecting: Friends! everyone is super nice and willing to help and be supportive. FUN! Who would think that stress relief, working out, and learning self-defense would include the word FUN? But it does! Sifu Forest is a wonderful instructor as well as a great person! He doesnt fake that he cares, like Ive seen in so many other classes. He not only cares about the ART and teaching it, but he cares about everyone that shows up! Student or not! Im looking ahead to the next year of classes and not only building mind, body and soul but making some great friends as well! Class is relaxing and as challenging as you make it. Sifu Forrest doesnt push you harder then you can handle so you never feel like you cant accomplish the goals you set or the drills. Not only are you going to gain self confidence, balance, strength, lose weight, and make friends, but you will learn a very valuable self-defense style that will save your life if needed. I would recommend this class to anyone who wants to learn how to protect yourself and others. Jeet Kune Do is an art and not a fighting style and because of this picking up the knowledge is easy and fun while building mental strength! Money well spent.

I thought I posted a review a while ago but I just realized my gmail wiped out somehow, so I figured Id make another review. I joined the gym about 8-9 months ago for the kickboxing classes, and also signed up for JKD classes a few months later. Ive definitely enjoyed each class Ive been to, particularly for the consistent positive motivation, the sense of community from everyone, and the opportunity to keep learning more every time. I didnt have prior experience coming in, but each time I still had a sense that I was able to go home having gotten an effective workout and also learned techniques to think about and keep in mind for the next time.

Did AUSTIN JKD save my life? Maybe! Well never know. But I am a better person from having attended training here. What I do know is that I am in the best shape Ive been in 10 years, and Austin Impact has made Jeet Kune Do a focus in my life. Sifu Forrest has been nothing but encouraging, accommodating, and tough. Every person in the gym is great too. You know why? Because the culture thats developed there is a continual showcase of Bruces philosophy. Be open minded. Be like water. Work your ass off. Push through the superficial to the core. Everyone here is on a different lane of the same path. And be nice. Because youll be full contact sparring in 3...2...1....

I have been training here for a few months now in the jeet kune do classes and I absolutely love it. Sifu Forrest is a great instructor – he is full of knowledge, good at explaining both the “whys” and the “why nots” of strikes and blocks (extremely valuable for a student), and his in-class talks and demos are often quite witty. The classes are varied but build off of each other within a week so you get several chances to practice the drill in short succession. Perhaps most importantly for a school where most of the class is spent in partner drills, I love the people I’m training with, who come from all backgrounds and skill levels. Everyone really looks out for each other while simultaneously pushing you to improve – and we all have a lot of fun while doing it.

I have been going to this gym for over 2 years and I love it! Sifu Forrest is one of the best instructors if you want to learn traditional Jeet Kung Do as well as the practicality of it when you want to use it on the streets. I remember the first time I attended a class that I didnt feel left out or lost. The students were very kind and helping and showed me a couple of tricks so that I can grow as a practitioner of Jeet Kung Do. The one thing that separates this gym from the others is that the sense of community and all the love and support from all the gym members. I have made a lot of friendships throughout the years and I am excited to share my knowledge of Jeet Kung Do to new students.

Before even attending my first JKD class, my 30 minute conversation with Sifu Forrest over the phone had me hooked. Loved the first class and had my wife and daughter enjoy their first lesson too (they loved it). Sifu Forrest is great - patient, encouraging and a gift for teaching. Their were no attitudes or egos. We will be attending classes every week going forward.

Before I signed up for anything, I tried a variety of gyms for different fighting styles from martial arts to boxing. A lot of these places were just more crossfit with no technique. If you are into that, those types of classes come with your membership at Austin Impact Jeet Kune Do, along with Hatha Yoga. This was the one place I found that was the real deal and not just another exercise class. You WILL get a workout, but you will also learn a lot of technique at the same time. It just depends on how hard and often you want to train - plus whether you go to the other included classes. I will admit the first month or so will be awkward if you have trained in a typical stance as Jeet Kune Do uses a power side forward stance, which for me is like a southpaw stance in boxing. You will make a bunch of mistakes and eventually get into the groove of the style to where you stop having to think about it constantly. As you train, you start to develop muscle memory and get rid of old bad fighting style habits. It may be a little overwhelming at first, but they do take you aside and work on your technique to get it down. I tend to fight fast and only have 2 switches - on and off. I had to learn to try to slow down to learn the technique first. You also dont learn the same thing over and over. Each class seems to focus on new techniques and strategies. I signed up two months ago. You will get in shape, you will develop muscles you didnt even know you had - which reminds me of the Marine Corps, but the folks in the class tend to recognize when you are new to a technique and adjust to you when practicing (doing drills). You often switch partners to learn with short people, tall people, thin people, stocky people - which helps develop your ability to hit at the right levels and right places for different shapes and sizes. You dont have to be a fitness freak or even in shape to start these classes. I see different people in different classes that in go from being cut with an 8 pack to someone whos been out of sports/training for years. I used to pay a professional trainer at my regular gym (going to cancel after a decade there) and I sweat a lot more in these classes without doing a bazillion burpees. I feel like I got a better workout with less repetition. If youve never trained on a wooden dummy like you may have seen in movies like IP Man or Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, it is awesome. I am buying one for home. Whether you want to get in shape while learning how to defend yourself or want to start learning to compete, this is a great place to do it. Also, you dont get self conscious of everyone around you like you do at the mega gyms. You are usually too busy focusing on you and also your instructor and helpful partners correcting your technique, that everything else just fades away. It is a bit pricey compared to some well known gyms, but this places teaches REAL Jeet Kune Do and is not a day care for children or focuses purely on burning calories like some other big gyms that are almost as expensive. The money is worth it. I cut out the massage place that I rarely used and paid monthly and the car wash place I paid monthly for with little use and it covered the price of this class. Once you start building your core, as you will here, those backaches and things you need massages for will start going away anyways. I highly recommend and Ive taken 4 styles + Marine Corps LINE training. This is the only style that I have taken that seems to have the ability to build you to do some serious damage to an attacker/aggressor. I find myself shadow boxing the techniques I learned just on the wooden dummy on almost a daily basis...because it is also FUN!

Ive been training with Forrest Caudill at Austin Impact Jeet Kune Do for almost five years, and Ive watched him grow the school from an hour-long class in the park with a small group of dedicated JKDers to a full-fledged business with his own gym and classes ranging from Jeet Kune Do, to Fitness Kickboxing, Self-Defense, and even Yoga. Forrest is one of the most dedicated instructors Ive ever met, and if you let him, hell guide you down the long and winding road to JKD mastery. Austin Impact JKD is no UFC gym; you wont get hurt working out here. Nor is it a Theory of JKD class where you only punch the air. Through years of refinement, Forrest has found just the right balance of drills, sparring, and instruction.I cannot recommend this place enough. Bring your friends. Learn a skill. Teach your body to react before your mind realizes youre being attacked. Whether JKD is a passing interest, a hobby, or a passion, youll find your home at Austin Impact JKD.
