Brandyn was our instructor for a self defense class that we took for a bachelorette party activity. The class was so much fun and all of us caught on so quick. Brandyn was super patient with us and showed us in detail how to protect ourselves and kept the atmosphere light and fun. I very highly recommend this place for anyone who wants to learn how to defend themselves. Thank you Martial Way for the lesson and for the great time!!

Brandon was an amazing teacher. He made us feel comfortable in what we were doing, everything felt incredibly natural. He is very skilled in what he does and it shows when he explains it. If we were lost he was more than willing to explain it over and over again. Would 100% recommend this place to take a class if visiting Austin or just needed a new hobby!

*The school has done an excellent job adding health and safety protocols - cleaning the space frequently, keeping classes very small, and requiring physical distancing. (June 2020)Martial Way Legacy provides high quality training and a supportive community, making it an incredible place to learn. The training and instructing are excellent - your questions and constructive feedback are always welcome and appreciated. The healthy competition is contagious - everyone is there to shut down that inner voice telling you to give up. And if youre struggling with that, the cheering of your classmates might drown it out. People come back because they want to keep improving.

This is a great place to learn if youre just getting into kickboxing/MMA or need motivation to get into the field of martial arts. So much of positive energy all around and Guro Larry and his team does a great job in encouraging and transferring that positive energy flow in all the classes. Overall the class definitely pushes you to test your limits and build respect and comradeship among your peers as well.

Martial Way is unlike anything I’ve EVER experienced - in any sport or work with a personal trainer. Seriously. The high quality and flexibility of instruction, the level of personal attention, and the community of students at Martial Way have changed my life. I have a place to go after work where people cheer my name when I walk in. Do you? I have a family of friends that keep me motivated and honest about my goals. I can ask any one of them for help if I don’t understand a concept or movement. Oh yeah, and there’s this unbelievable fitness I have now! I never believed I could be this strong! We work our asses off and are constantly challenged by new material and new perspectives, but I wouldn’t trade this for anything. The variety in classes and private lessons really made a big impression on me when I joined. The conditioning and combinations are always changing. You will never be bored! Private lessons were really the thing that cinched everything for me. Larry can adapt to any challenge I face (both temporary and permanent), and he customized my lessons to work around those things. I thought those challenges were dead ends, but Larry simply adapted and showed me a whole new world – a totally different art. I developed new skills, and now, quite frankly – I can really kick ass in my own right. He helped me find my own potential that I never, ever would have found by myself. It takes hard work and dedication, but if you bring that to the table, Larry and his students can take you wherever you want to go. Be prepared to SWEAT and work really hard, but hey… that’s what we do! Starting anything is always the hardest part, next hardest is sticking with it. I STRONGLY encourage you to give Martial Way a try. Do it, do it now!

In the first six weeks of training I lost 10 lbs and 3 inches at my waist. The beginners Kickboxing classes are amazing. Definitely a 1000 calorie burn per hour. The fact that you can learn self defense, mixed martial arts, and intermediate level moves in the beginners class keeps me coming back. Last Saturday we were doing the flying punch. The instructors and students are very helpful and encourage everyone to learn better techniques. Everyone Ive met there has benefitted from attending classes. I look forward to every chance I can get to go, workout, and learn more

Upon discovering Martial Way it was mainly the flexible schedule that was available at the time and the cost that made it possible for me to train. The scheduling worked out for me perfectly. I enjoyed my first few months just learning. When i did decide to do the belt program It was pretty amazing at how much I had learned in a short time. I appreciated Guru Larry for tweaking my training plan when i had injuries, it was great to still get the work out in even though I wasnt 100 percent to do the standard training. The school does foster camaraderie and yes on occasion Guru may ask for assistance for testing or teaching. I really enjoyed the community while attending and still do so even though I am currently not training. I am looking forward to getting back into the swing of regular training.

I started attending classes in 2011, and right away I fell in love with the teachers, classes and community. I can definitely say I am in better shape, but I have gotten much more than that from Martial Way. There is a wonderful sense of community, in and out of class, I never feel worried to ask for help, even if it takes 10 times to finally get it. Larry is an excellent teacher, he cares for his students but also invests in them, he is always willing to give anyone time to work through an issue and come up with solutions and strategies. If you are someone looking to make a change, or just looking to add in some new friends I highly recommend visiting Martial Way.

Martial Way Legacy offers a sense of camaraderie and community, and gives you the opportunity to learn from everyone around you as you work on improving your strength and technique in kickboxing/MMA forms such as Jun Fan Gung Fu/Jeet Kune Do, MMA, Filipino Martial Arts, and Muay Thai. The positive community and welcoming space have been a huge motivating factor for me continuing with Martial Way Legacy. The school regularly offers discounted introductory deals that are very affordable, and they host a free Saturday morning class most Saturday mornings for anyone to come and attend, so there are plenty of opportunities to try out a few classes to see if this school is the right one for you. Guro Larry is a thoughtful, experienced, and enthusiastic teacher, and I am happy to continue learning kickboxing/MMA in his school.

This is an awesome place to get started on a new path or continue your journey. I first started during an informal class many years ago and met awesome people and had a life changing experience. Unfortunately, an injury prevented me from continuing and I stopped training. That didnt stop Guro Larry, he would continually keep in contact, checking on how I was doing and letting me know they could accommodate me and develop training around my injury. Stubbornness kept me away, but Larry continued to keep in touch. His positive attitude and philosophy finally won me over, I havent been able to kickboxing, but I now do stick fighting, or kali, and its amazing. He has worked around my injuries (and subsequent weight gain) to facilitate a program that works. I enjoy the workout, have met some really great people, and I always recommend Martial Way to everyone I talk to who is looking to train. Its a great place, full of energetic and friendly people.

Guro Larry is simply the best.Though also (thoroughly) proficient in a variety of martial arts, Guro Larrys true achievement lies in sustaining a supportive—and consistently challenging—atmosphere. He takes the time to appreciate the unique potential of each student, and works hard to unlock it.Without a doubt: he does an excellent job, and I will thoroughly miss training with him alongside the Martial Way family. =]EDIT: Im back in Austin, and back at the right place. :D

Martial Way has been an amazing and life changing experience for me. From starting there 8 years ago to becoming one of the black belts and instructors I have always felt challenged and pushed to better my self as a student, teacher, and person. Ill be the first one to say the school is not for everyone and it can sometimes be challenging and frustrating but I also have learned that you get out of your time there exactly what you put in. Larry is one of the most respected and distinguished martial artists in Austin and is known throughout the country through the MARS and Inosanto lineages he teaches. Hes also a great father and person. Ive had the choice and I know that for me, there is no other place in Austin Id want to learn and study than under his guidance at Martial Way Academy.

There are so many amazing and wonderful things to say about Martial Way Legacy, its hard to know where to start. So lets start at the top, there are 70+ Martial Art studios in Austin TX, thats a lot to pick from! So the first thing I had to ask myself was, what kind of coach and trainer do I want? The answer was simple, one who BELIEVES in what they are teaching, one who is still learning and advancing in their own personal training. I wanted someone who worked as hard as they expect from their students, and then I saw Larry. He always finding (and creating) new ways to push himself and anyone that will follow. When you walk into his gym, 90% of the time if hes not working with someone else, he is working on bettering himself. 2nd thing was a judgment free zone! I have a lot of physical injuries that make some tasks VERY hard for me. I needed a trainer and fellow student who wouldnt judge me, make fun of me or make me feel bad when I wasnt able to do some of the tasks at hand. 1st class everyone there was supportive of the fact that 1, I was new and clueless and 2 I just couldnt physically do some of the things. However what made it even better is when the more advanced students took the time to help me find modified ways of doing specific moves so that I could build my strength to get to the point that one day Ill be able to do it all! Finally, what else could I take from this place to help me in my everyday life or was this going to be just another gym i went to, worked out, went home and didnt take anything else home with me. Larry also offers AMAZING nutritional guidance and coaching on how to make your body the absolute best you can, again with no judgements. With all of that said, Martial Way Legacy is the most amazing place to find a home and family with. I am blessed to be able to train here and call the students and trainers family.

I cannot say enough good things about Martial Way. I attended classes for about eight months until I could no longer justify it in my budget during the recent lean times, but I am counting down the days until I can go back. Its small and sweaty and the best family you could ever ask for.If anyone in the gym is having a personal crisis, everyone offers help and support without being intrusive. There are always events everyone is invited to, but its a low-pressure invitation. Also there is no better way to de-stress than hitting things. You get stronger, its fun and they offer enough classes to fit into almost anyones schedule. Highly, highly recommended.
