Third Coast has been such a blessing to us. Our son attends the after school program and summer camp. He has grown leaps and bounds in his confidence and loves going to see Mrs. Hatch and the gang. He has learned discipline and blossomed under their guidance.

My kids have both been going here for years and its been a great experience. The instructors all know my kids and they have lots of classes. They go twice a week and always feel so good after their class. They especially enjoy sparring. We started with Little Dragons as a way to help my son with some self control and the accountability and expectation set for him and my daughter have been a great help for both of them.

My daughter has been a student at Third Coast Martial Arts for several years now, both in the after school pick up program and at summer camp. She has done very well, and recently achieved her red belt. The instructors are excellent and very supportive of the students in their advancement towards earning a black belt. Summer camps are affordable, and offer lots of activities for the kids, usually with some swimming! So glad I found this place for her!

We signed our son up at Third Coast in January 2016.I called in and spoke to Jami originally and she was very helpful and answered all my questions. She gave the impression that bedsides learning martial arts, the kids will also be taught discipline and respect in everything they do.It was important to us that not only does he learn martial arts, but that he also earns his way and doesnt get any participation trophies..After only a year and a half our son has earned his purple belt. He has worked extremely hard under the encouragement of the Third Coast instructors.Eventually my husband and I became students as well. We go when our schedule allows and are never made to feel like we are inferior students.Master Seay and all the instructors are amazing with the way they care for all the students.Third Coast feels like a family. ❤️

We appreciate their philosophy that to be successful in life you must have mutual respect, be disciplined and focused and always challenge yourself, whether you are 5 or 55. The staff and the instructors are friendly, responsive and help students believe in themselves and do their best.

My son loves TCMA. He comes home tired from a hard workout every night he attends. And, he has learned discipline and respect. He works hard to get to the next level and is proud of his accomplishments. This is not like other places that pass a kid to the next level just to get the belt fee. There have been times when kids dont pass and have to work harder. I appreciate that. One time he called to see if his friend was there and I was so proud of how he addressed the adult who answered (sir) and realized he didnt learn that from me!After school pick up is a bonus.

My son has trained and studied at TCMA for six years, and I cannot recommend them and Master Seay more strongly. Belts are not just handed out, the tests are real, students work hard and form lifelong bonds with the gym, as the many young men and women who continue as students and instructors attest.

Just before spring break, my son had his third belt testing. He asked me to invite his 1st grade school teacher, I did, & he was super nervous about his performance the night before, & of course the day of—the first time we’ve had someone else to watch. Just before it started, it was apparent that the instructor was in a bad mood. He mentioned that he had been out sick & kept getting onto the kids before it even started. Just being a grump overall (not typical from him). From the first command on, every one of the children kept saying “yes ma’am” when he gave them their commands (since they’ve been practicing with a woman the whole time he was gone). He looked at my son & said “if you call me ma’am one more time…” Not sure why my son was singled out considering all of the children were doing it. No biggie at this point. The very next command he gave them was for a 3 point kick. As I looked around the room, there were many different kicks being done & some of the smaller kids just looked confused (apparently he was doing everything out of order). Once again he looks at my son & tells him he is doing his kick wrong, looks at him very disappointed, shaking his head. He’s never messed up at his testings’ before. All I know, is that my son was sure of that kick. He had even practiced it like that at home. They should have corrected it before the belt testing. He had my son drop & give him pushups. Fine... But my son teared up from embarrassment, & dropped his head to hide his face. This instructor, who I now think should not be working with children, continued to jab at him through the remainder of the performance. Looking at him & shaking his head, calling his name & telling him to pick is head up. He’s only 6, was just embarrassed in from of his entire martial arts gym of children, their parents, & his 1st grade teacher. I was appalled. I had to excuse myself outside not only to dry my eyes, but I also just couldn’t watch it. I almost interrupted the entire thing to get my son out of there. When I came back inside, it had just ended, & I found my son inside of his locker, completely hysterical. Wouldn’t even look at his school teacher to tell him bye, & was practically curled up in a ball for the rest of the evening. While his school teacher was trying to console him, I went over to the instructor, & said that “perhaps he should have corrected that kick before the performance, he’s been practicing it this way the whole time.” He immediately get angry, & says “don’t you come in here telling me how to run my business” I said “okay”, just trying to bite my tongue & get out of there.I didn’t want my son to go back, but I also didn’t want to let him give up (he didn’t get the belt he was testing for) because of his teacher having a bad day. Despite how infuriated I was, I told my son that I wanted him to go to his instructor & ask what he needed to do to get his belt. I had every intention to pull him put as soon as that was completed. My son didn’t want to talk to or see him… after some encouragement he was okay with it & asked if I would go with him. But, when I came to get him the next day, one of the afterschool care instructors who work there was consoling my son, he also looked very confused. Turns out, my son went into his office(surely trying to get up the nerve to talk to him) & this instructor told my son that he was not allowed in his office anymore & not to pet his dogs(he has two wiener dogs that my son always loves on). Of course, that was my sons last day there.

I have know Master Seay for many years! He and all the staff, black belts, students, and parents have welcomed me as part of the TCMA family! They do that for everyone who enter with a desire to be part of something very special! Now that I have been honored with the rank of 8th degree black belt by several statewide organizations, TCMA seeks out my input and experience to add to their own to promote the best family oriented martial arts programs that I have ever seen! I am so honored to be a part of TCMA and encourage all with an interest in martial arts to come join us!

My son has been at TCMA for 4 years and loves it. The instructors are all very knowledgeable and experienced as they have all come up through the belt levels themselves at TCMA. They are all great at what they do and how they teach and correct, attention to detail, professionalism with high and positive expectations of respect from the students. They teach with discipline but are all able to keep it light with humor thrown in.The kids all seem to enjoy class and its overall a fun, positive and welcoming environment to all people, kids and adults.Mr. Swan is among our favorite instructors as well as Mrs.Hatch, Dr.McCowan, Master Seay, Mr.Tusa, Dr.Gonzalez.....Theyre ALL GREAT!!! ☺️I would recommend this Dojo to anyone for their training.-Samantha Cecil

My daughter is starting her second year at Third Coast. This has been her first experience with martial arts, and she has enthusiastically embraced it thanks to the staff. They do a great job of making Tae Kwon Do fun, while instilling discipline and a strong sense of pride in the kids as they progress through the belts. From Master Seay on down, the staff is great with the kids and the communication with the parents is timely and effective. Were glad we found Third Coast for our daugther, and we look forward to her continuing her personal and Tae Kwon Do development here.
