We have absolutely loved our time at La Tribu! My daughter has been enrolled since the day the school opened in 2016, and it has only gotten better year after year. The teachers are wonderful and my daughter loves going to school! I was initially looking for a Spanish immersion program and we totally lucked out that it was also Montessori inspired! My kiddo is graduating from La Tribu this Spring, and we only wish the program could continue through elementary school! We plan to enroll our son here when he is older. We have found an amazing community here and are so grateful!

Dont be afraid because you are not a Spanish speaking family or have no history with it. My daughter started 2 years ago and is now heading to kindergarten and speaks so fluently I can barely keep up with what she is saying. The beginning may be a difficult transition but the teachers are so loving and caring, it helps the transition and brings a feeling of safety. Couldnt be happier with our choice.

I cannot say enough good things about this school. We have been a part for two years and it just keeps getting better. I trust the Director completely. The guides are incredibly warm, knowledgeable and engaged - my daughter loves them all. The parents are very involved, lending their skills however they can for the betterment of the school and kids. My daughters Spanish abilities have exceeded my expectations, (we do not speak Spanish at home but are learning). The bloomz app regularly features pictures and updates about what the kids are doing. Every month we print out a calendar for the fridge that features what the kids are learning and the homework we can contribute - I love having this opportunity to talk with my daughter specifically about what shes doing. Really, just a fantastic school and we feel so lucky to be a part.

My son has been going to La Tribu for two years now, since he was just shy of 2. My husband is fluent in Spanish but I am not and we wanted to ensure our son would be bilingual so we looked into Spanish immersion schools in Austin.PROS Short:• My sons independence blossomed at La Tribu• Hes now fluent in Spanish and I definitely owe La Tribu 75% or more of the credit for that• The teachers are warm and loving and care for my son as I would• The community of parents and teachers is great• Parent learning opportunities as wellLong:I was so excited to find a school that combined Spanish immersion with Montessori in La Tribu. My son has learned so much independence from school. He gets such a boost of confidence when he does something on his own. He loves saying, I did it by myself! after accomplishing some new task. He gets fully dressed - undies, shirt, pants, socks, shoes, he can set his own table and clean up after meals, he helps me clean the house, and even puts his own toys away without me asking (some of the time, haha). I had to work on all of those skills at home over a length of time of course, but having them introduced and reinforced at school was a huge benefit and sped up the process for sure. It was huge for potty training too! Im certain our experience was quicker because of the Montessori approach to potty training and having teachers maintain the same exact methods we used at home.My son is fully bilingual now, regularly speaking Spanish whenever his abuelos visit and easily code switching when talking to me and his dad. It took a few months until he spoke his first Spanish words, and then longer for full phrases and sentences. We were expecting it to be faster so just know it could take awhile! But so worth it to hear that squeaky toddler voice singing full songs in Spanish and telling you how to translate words. The teachers are obviously the biggest part of the tribe and I have every confidence in them. Each one is so warm and loving. They light up seeing my son (and every kid) enter the gate in the morning and are frequent hug recipients. I never worry when I leave him in the morning, knowing they will care for him just as I would at home. The school community as a whole is great too. Parent volunteers arrange get-togethers and collaborate on group teacher gifts, and the school plans fun festivals that tie into Latin American holidays. Because its a small school its easy to get to know most of the other parents. And an extra benefit is that half or more of them speak Spanish too, so that means more chances to practice for us non-fluent adults!La Tribu also hosts parent enrichment events on occasion, one of which was having a Montessori expert discuss potty training (toilet learning if you want to be all Montessori about it, ha) and her experience helping hundreds of kids learn to use the toilet. That was the best one I went to for sure.CONS:• Limited hours - this is definitely more like a MDO program than full-time day care so it could be hard for FT working parents.• Not all of the teachers speak English as comfortably as Spanish so theres a bit of a language barrier in hearing how your child did each day depending on who is there at pick up. (Though honestly I like that Im forced to brush up on my own Spanish and I just google translate any important questions I need to ask if I cant remember the right words.)
