My daughters absolutely love doing martial arts at Aim High. They are involved in a lot of activities and this is one of their absolute favorites. They look forward to every class and they learn amazing lessons, not only about how to protect themselves and stay safe, but also about how to be kind and responsible human beings. I could not recommend this place more.

Usually when we go to an athletic activity we go to better ourselves as athletes. That what makes Aim High different. Aim High doesn’t just make me a better athlete it also makes me a better: learner, family member, teacher, and so much more. The community makes me feel at home even if I am away from my home. Aim High grounds me to be better. I am constantly challenged to be the next best version of myself, but I am always supported to get there.

My kids have been part of Aim High Martial Arts for 8 years and we are very happy with the service that they provide. Instructors are very well prepared and they encourage the students to always do better. Not only the students learn martial arts they also learn leadership skills, discipline, respect and be kind to each other. What I love about Aim High is that the staff know my kids name, my kids are not just customers they are

Very good martial arts school. I wish they formally brought the Taekwondo program back. Although, on the contrary, starting off in Fusion and picking a martial art to specialize in is extremely unique, and thanks to Aim High, even though I specialize in Taekwondo, I have acquired multiple other skills of different martial art practices, so I can learn MMA and specialize in one art.I also think this is the only school that puts junior black belts, those under 4 degrees through exhausting special trainings, like camping trips etc. Usually most schools do this to master level black belts 4th Dan and above, which is what I like about Aim High. The teachers are also very kind, and even though I have moved to a different state, I still have a strong teacher-student relationship with the Aim High teachers. Teacher Sam is an amazing teacher by the way!If you are very passionate about martial arts, you should go here to widen your expertise. One piece of feedback I have is adding more mental training, i.e. mindfulness, etc, and talking about terminologies. They were doing this before COVID, but trying to squeeze this into the schedule would be very good. Thanks for reading this review!- Dhanya, 1st Degree Black Belt

We are SO happy with Aim High! My son has been in the little warriors and warrior juniors program for 3 years and we are now enrolling my littlest! We have seen such a difference in my 8 year olds behavior. Aim High has also handled COVID so well and I feel 100% safe sending my kids in for class. They are taking every precaution and have done whatever they could to keep class engaging for the kids. Thank you Aim High!!

My 10 & 12 year old daughters have really enjoyed attending classes in Mixed Martial Arts and Tang Soo Do since the fall of 2020. The staff is very friendly and positive. They have done a thorough job keeping the place clean and distancing the students through out covid times. They offered online courses when everything was shut down due to covid cases rising in the county. My daughters seem more confident and stronger since attending classes. They come out sweaty sometimes and still smiling. I tried a class and decided the workout was to hard for my old bones but definitely recommend it for kids to adults who want to become stronger and/or learn martial arts!

Both the adults fusion and kids warrior programs are amazing. We have been in both programs for about a year already. The adults program taught by instructor Sam and Logan is a right blend of conditioning, technique, and self defense. The kids warrior program led by instructor Randal and Tracy is extremely well balanced, providing just the right mix of discipline, fun and play, martial arts technique, stranger danger awareness, self-respect/respect of others, and so much more, furthermore, once your kid reaches junior intermediate, they are introduced to the art of sparing. The support staff is also really great, always super friendly and helpful. This martial arts academy feels less like like a school and more like family! Try them out today, you wont regret.

We really love this place. One of the things we really valued was the ability to try-before-you-buy. Our first visit was an opportunity for one of the staff members to evaluate if martial arts was a good fit for our son, who was 4 at the time. They went over cross and jab, but were really looking to see if he was able to pay attention. After that first meeting we were able to attend as many classes as we could for 2 weeks before buying anything to see if it’s simething he enjoyed. He was hooked after his first class, and so were we. Fast forward almost a full year later, and Aim High has done wonders for our son’s confidence, understanding of respect, and focus. I love how the instructors want to be part of your child’s growth, and this is so much more than martial arts. My son looks forward to belt testing days when he gets to formally level up. We can’t wait until our daughter is old enough to start.

The staff at Aim High Academy is beyond professional. They are excellent instructors and wonderful people. The Martial Arts instruction is top notch, but they do more than that. Character development is a large part of their philosophy and teaching. They also offer fitness classes, Parents Night Out, and camp opportunities. There are many other Martial Arts studios closer to my home, but I choose to drive a little bit farther to go to Aim High because we love it there. After our first visit we were hooked. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in learning Martial Arts or taking advantage of other programs.

My son Peter has learned so much in the six months (or so) he has been attending the academy. He cant wait for his sparing gear to come in! Teacher Randall is so great with the kids. Peter attends other fun events at and interacts with the other great teachers they have. The Halloween event was a hit! The kids loved the duel with the chicken (one of the instructors) and another instructor. Ill put some video up and share it. They also have parent nights out where you drop off the kids and have an adult night out cheaper than hiring a babysitter. Peter loves those events! And they dont just teach the arts; time is set aside in classes to discuss, for example, bullying and how to handle it appropriately. Other examples include being respectful and working on being focused. They teach when its appropriate to use their skills.I truly believe Peter will be prepared to not only protect himself if ever necessary but the reinforcement of life skills that we try to instill in our son has another source, the teachers.

My son has been an inspiration to me so much that I have been attending Aim High since May of 2014.For myself it has been a source of conditioning myself physically, mentally, and spiritually with good character. The bond between my son and I is incredibly strong and we motivate each other to be at our best in and out of class.Thank you very much to the entire Aim High Martial Arts team! Aim High is about much more than self-defense. This place is focused on turning out well-rounded young people who are poised to succeed at the many challenges in life. Physical fitness, following directions, attention to detail, mental focus, self-awareness, keeping oneself safe from strangers/predators, taking on responsibilities at home, listening to and obeying parents -- these are just some of the principles that are reinforced in creative, positive ways at each class. Its the whole package. Teacher Randall is the best. If you are looking for a place to help your energetic, and perhaps often distracted, child(ren) become healthy, strong, confident young citizens, Aim High is where you want to be.

Hes becoming a gracious, polite and caring little boy, in addition to learning self defense techniques against bullying. Hes gone from being the little bullied boy on the street, to defending younger kids from the bigger kids! Its amazing! And we cant say enough about the staff. Aim High is such an awesome environment. Our family has been so impressed with the teachers and skills that are taught. From respect and self discipline to self defense, various martial arts, exercise, fun games, and other life skills. There is no question that the teachers care genuinely for our kids and our community. Having no previous martial arts experience I had no idea what to expect when I signed the family up through groupon after my preschooler expressed interest in taking classes there. I now have a 3, 5 and 9 year old taking classes and they are learning so much and loving it! My oldest says her favorite things about Aim High are “when the teacher tells me I’m doing a good job and when I get to lead some of the activities.” I love how the teachers lead by example and partner with the parents to instill confidence and self discipline. I would have to name every single teacher to tell you my favorite! Aim High is a gem in our community where our kids can grown and learn.

Short version: If you are looking for a Martial Arts Academy, GO HERE!There are so many positive aspects of Aim High. I was recommended to go here and was hesitant being that there were several closer Martial Arts schools I could sign up for. However, the persistence of this recommendation was crystal clear on day 1. My son was fully engaged from the minute he went onto the floor. He has brought home not only Martial Arts skills, but life skills. From a business aspect, they couldnt be more on point with how they treat their customers and community. From a teaching aspect, they couldnt be more truly genuine, extremely talented, and nothing short of amazing. Theyve created more than a Martial Arts Academy, they have created a family of our community.Again, this is the place to go. Period.

Aim High is mediocre as a Martial Arts school at best. We recently moved to the area and decided to check it out via a Groupon offer, after I read praises about Mr. Sikkens climb to success a few years ago in a magazine for Martial Arts business owners called MASuccess.First impression walking in there, the air conditioning doesnt work. Its very hot and stuffy, and crowded with classes going on in 3 or 4 places with more than one song playing and more than one teacher shouting at the children. Our 3 year old was terrified to be there to say the least, and it took a little time for our 5 year old to get used to the atmosphere.Things were not being delivered as promised such as uniforms and belts, which according to the Groupon deal we had already paid for. To their credit, they didnt start the one month trial until the kids warmed up to the class after about 3 visits. In the month we went there, we saw 4 or 5 teachers come and go, yet the classes were almost exactly the same every time (no structured progression as far as I could tell). One teacher in particular, Teacher D always looks angry and unapproachable, and is quick to grab the kids to put him where he wants them instead of addressing them by their names, which by the way, after a month the teachers still didnt know my sons names. My kids are afraid of him and my 3 year old ultimately lost interest because of that fear. The classes and the techniques themselves were not great. 30 minute classes with 10 minute water breaks and 10 minutes of mat chat time left little time to teach them what we thought we were paying for. Their whole turtle shell defense is worthless, and I now have to break that habit with both of them. For reference, I have almost 25 years experience learning and teaching martial arts. With 25 years experience in JKD concepts, 17 years experience in Kung Fu (7 Star Praying Mantis, Wing Chun, Jow Ga, and Yang style Tai Chi). As well as 5 years experience in Shorin Ryu Karate and some Moo Duk Kwan sprinkled in there. My honest opinion, they survive on donations from the wealthier parents in there, and cater and give attention exclusively to their children. They charge more money for less instruction than any school I have ever been to. I saw Brown Belts in there just walking around and practicing their techniques at a level most white belts are proficient at.This is the epitome of McDojo and Im curious as to how they get away with being a non-profit organization while being featured in articles exclaiming they gross/net over 80k per month, tax free.By the way, we havent attended for almost 2 weeks, and we havent even gotten a follow up call to see if we want to enroll (sign a long term contract for $240/mo for 2 half hour classes (20 minutes of repetitive, pointless training) per week.Edit: I gave 3 stars because the people up front are at least friendly and their gym has high quality equipment, that Ive never seen anyone cleaning after class. No thanks.

Having Bill Kipp in town to actually teach the class was fantastic, but now hes passing the torch to the AIM High Team to teach the techniques locally, and this experience was proof positive that Bills course has been trusted to more than capable hands! Id read about the training years ago,and I was a little amazed I was finally taking this class. If you dont know what FAST Defense is, its a self defense course which familiarizes you with what happens to you during your adrenal and fight-or-flight response. Then you learn how you can still defend yourself, even when all you have available to you in a panic is tunnel vision, bad hearing and gross motor function-which happens too even the most skilled. Theres much more too, covering deescalation techniques, which is just as important (cause hey, avoiding a fight altogether is the best thing... truly...). Check out FAST Defense, and if youre in the Portland Oregon area, you need to check out AIM High. :)
