I attended a trial class at the beginning of March 2021 with the expectation that I wouldnt be able to participate, with as overweight as I am. Oh, how wrong I was! Murrayhill Martial Arts is such a caring environment that makes everyone feel welcome. I get a great workout and feel challenged every class. However, I also know that if I have to alter an exercise or slow down, I can...without feeling judged! Master Kaari is a wonderful teacher and has a great personality. I would definitely recommend MHMA to anyone that is interested, whether they are an experienced martial artist or brand new.

I have been a member of Murrayhill Martial Arts for over 2 years now. I joined after seeing how much my grandson enjoyed the classes and camaraderie. Not only is it a great workout, it teaches discipline and fortitude. You learn you are able to do more than you otherwise thought possible. I feel like family. The instructors and fellow participants are truly interested and concerned about you well-being; so not only are the physical benefits rewarding, but also the mindfulness and mental health concerns addressed. Highly recommend.

Murrayhill Martial Arts has been an excellent experience for my two children. They focus on the improvement of the entire child, not just on martial arts. The multiple class offerings a week are great for a busy family and we can adjust which days the kids are attending based on other activities. The classes are separated by age, which really helps focus the instruction to the level of the students. There is also the right amount of teaching by skill level so everyone is challenged and the lower levels can see what they are working towards. We have also used Murrayhill Martial Arts for summer camps and the Digital Learning Center when schools were closed due to COVID-19. We feel that the proper health and safety precautions are installed, yet it still provides the kids the outside social interaction they need.Best of all Murrayhill Martial Arts is very professional with all of their communications and class scheduling, we always know what to expect.

My family have been taking classes here for the past 10 years. They have a great age specific curriculum, that changes as the children get older. The instructors truly care about their students and encourage and help them to do well in all aspects of their lives. They have really stepped up during this pandemic to offer classes virtually, that are engaging and include a chance for the kids to engage with their peers. We started at Murrayhill Martial Arts a few years ago and have LOVED every part of our experience. My son is thriving with the structure and the fun that this team puts together— which is done in the most kind positive and fun way!! His confidence has been lifted with this club—and we have seen that confidence spill over into his interactions with other kids. He now has the skills to stick to something that he commits to, and the passion to keep going.I also appreciate how the kids in this club all build each other up—it is so easy these days for kids to tear each other down—but this club and their whole philosophy is to give each person the skills to be the very best!My son doesn’t love “team” sports but here at Murrayhill Martial Arts they are teaching kids a team philosophy—which I love. Team sports such as Basketball, Soccer etc aren’t for everyone and having a program help build his confidence and team mentality has been huge!I absolutely love this program and can only say how positive this experience has been for us—thank you MHMA!!

I dont usually write reviews, particularly about kids activities, but the one on one care and attention that Murrayhill Martial Arts gives our 10 years old son is incredible. This has been one heck of a year, 2020 didnt treat many well, but our son was able to keep the consistency of his TKD classes through it all. Not only were they wonderful about safety protocols but also just fun to participate in. Murrayhill Martial Arts is an incredible martial arts school, especially for kids. My 10yo daughter has been a member for a couple of years now and has learned a tremendous amount, not just about Taekwondo and self-defense, but also about flexibility, versatility, dexterity, self-control, being respectful, making good choices, precision, coordination, confidence, and increasing strength. We all love the instructors and staff, and consider them a valued part of our family’s community. They offer a variety of programs in addition to traditional martial arts classes that my daughter has taken part in, including a fantastic summer camp that keeps her occupied, entertained, and physically active while we’re at work. On top of all that, during the pandemic, they quickly retooled their classes to continue offering virtual instruction and have been incredibly forward thinking, not just about how they can continue offering their existing programs but also about offering new programs that can help families adapt to the new normal. Murrayhill Martial Arts is well organized with thoughtful teachers and administrators, who understand child psychology and take the time to educate parents as well as students. Our family has been going to Murrayhill Martial Arts for the past three and a half years. We first started our middle child who wasnt the most sports-oriented child and needed help with coordination/balance. We had such a great experience with him at the studio that we decided to sign his older sister up two years ago. She is very disciplined and coordinated but has lacked self confidence and weve seen her come out of her shell more. Shes also become more of a leader to her little brothers. We decided to sign up our youngest child a year and a half ago. While he is very coordinated he is very strong willed and doesnt always do well with structure. Weve seen improvements with his behavior as a result of Tae Kwon Do. What has impressed us most about the studio is their ability to target the needs of each individual child. In addition to taking regular classes our children have also attended summer camps and occasional day camps for days off of school. Communication from the office manager and owner is very regular and clear and they are helpful if you have any questions. They have done a fantastic job adapting this year with COVID through providing online class. We are looking forward to seeing our friends in person again when it becomes possible.

I am so happy to call Murrayhill Martial Arts my Taekwondo school.I recently enrolled my son in classes (age 9) and have noticed numerous positive changes in him since his first class. He is much more likely to respond to my requests with a Yes, mom instead of an argument. He does better at both home and school because he is learning self-control. The place is cute. It’s cute in a way that they will somewhat entertain your child for 30 minutes. They are very nice to special needs children. The belts and stripes are given purely for attendance. The toddler classes have very little effort in teaching any skills. A basic gymnastics class would provide so much more for your child. And gymnastics classes normally will cost you 3 times less then what Murrayhill Martial Arts charges for their “psychologically researched” technics. The older kids, again, get stripes just for attendance. No skills whatsoever. The teaches are so “supportive” and don’t even correct what the kids are doing. Sometimes, you will see a child or two who are talented. But the talent is most likely developed and taught at home; and in class, these kids are bored by being blended in with the rest.If learning a Martial Art is not important for you or your child, and all you care about is your child getting all the color belts without actually being able to protect himself or herself, then you should sign up for Murrayhill Martial arts. You can then start taking pictures of your kids in their cute uniforms with “ earned” belts and brag to your friends and family. And your children can pretend to be little ninjas. And there’s nothing wrong with that. And the Murrayhill Martial Arts can’t be blamed. They are not rude, they are not helpful, they are absolutely nothing. The only thing they are good at is advertising. It’s simply dishonest; because most of the parents don’t know any better and what else is out there. Please go see for yourself. And enjoy the show

Students are specifically challenged to take the values they learn into their schools & homes -and evaluated based on both teacher and parent feedback. I wanted to take a moment share how Murrayhill Martial Arts is investing in our children, my son in particular. My son is growing a lot, physically, mentally and in character with the help of Murrayhill Martial Arts. As a result of taekwondo, his confidence is growing as well. Yesterday, he was called out in his PE class by the middle school teacher because of his excellent form in planking. He held his plank for 2 minutes and was asked to demonstrate his form for the rest of the students to emulate. He came home thrilled. His hand-eye coordination has also improved, which has helped him in other sports. Even his balance and core strength is what helped him hop up on the board with ease at our surfing lessons in Hawaii this past summer. In addition to these wonderful things, I see him grow in his drive for excellence and pushing himself beyond his normal limits. Not only are we impressed with the skills he is learning, but he loves the staff, especially Mr. Kim and Mrs. Kaari. She said she promised. And after class she did what she said. Everyone stopped to watch and after she was done we all clapped for her. Ive been taking my son to Murrayhill Martial Arts for several years now. The program for kids far exceeded my expectations, as it is a national program that progresses your childs development in way most gyms dont offer. One of the owners, Kaari is without a doubt the best instructor Ive ever seen with kids. She is perfect in almost every slice of the pie. My son also loves Ms Liz. If you want your kids to be in a very safe place, where the instructors know, internalize, and work on each individual skill level of each child that walks through that door, then youve found the right place. This gym teaches discipline, and good manners. They make good manners a life skill, not just something they say and do inside the gym. Overall, I found it to be a real blessing! Also, I saw a few reviews where parents said some negative things about pushing kids to hard or being too physical. That could not be farther from the truth. Completely Bunk. If you are looking for a place for your child to slug it out (or adult) this is not the place for you. Safety is ALWAYS their number 1 concern, and they practice this every day with precision and do it on auto pilot. Again, if you want a safe place where each kid can thrive with any skill level, welcome home.I do have one constructive criticism Ive noticed over the years, it would be lack of hygiene. I trained at a handful of gyms for over a decade. And in every one of them, there was the old mop bucket and mops that the students would grab after each class and mop down the mats, to sterilize the place before the next class. This is crucial in a gym, as those floors, seats and walls quickly become a petri dish due to the very close contact of hundreds of sweating kids per day. Im sure they mop once each night as promised, but im not sure if that is enough. Many parents that trained in gyms in the past, have also shared this concern with me, as they understand the importance of disinfecting the place as well. Because of the lack of hygiene, I feel your child could get sick more often here.My wife and i have sharer our concerns with the owner. Their response was..We have a bottle hand sanitizer on a table. I could not believe that was the comeback. If you are of the thought that your kids should have a tough immune system, and are OK with your kids getting whatever is going around, then this is a good venue for that.My wife or I stay and watch the entire class, twice a week. Way too often, we see a sick kid coughing, or is visibly sick. What I dont understand is that Ive never seen a single instance over the years where the instructor even asks a child to cover their cough. They act as if they dont see it. (other gyms kindly ask for sick kids or parents not to come)I have resorted to taking my kid to the bathroom to watch his hands, then I do my best to change his clothes quickly, as there is too often a sick kid in the class. Please know, I am not a germaphobe in any way. Just tired of my kid getting sick, when I feel it could be avoided. Asking sick kids not to come, and removing obviously sick kids would be appreciated. Teaching to cover your mouth when you cough, would be a plus too This gym teaches so many good principles, but unfortunately good hygiene is not on the list.If they took any measure whatsoever to practice better hygiene, this place would be an undisputed 5 Star gym. I would be so very grateful, as my kid has thrived in so many ways. All thanks to one of the best programs Ive seen for kids.

Ms Kaari Tatter and the staff at USWC Murrayhill and USWC Farmington are simply amazing. Their balance of patience and motivation with their students has left me watching children and adults alike grow in courtesy, integrity, perseverance, self control, and respect in addition to physical fitness and self defense preparedness. These students will undoubtedly become leaders in their schools, communities, workplaces and in anything else they pursue for the rest of their lives. When my 9yr old daughter started taking Tae Kwon Do here nearly two years ago, I sat in the lobby watching her learn basic techniques & actually start to realize what self discipline is. I was watching her get a great workout in, all the while thinking man, that looks like fun!. About 8 months later, I couldnt take it anymore and I had to enroll as well.Being a 36 year old who hasnt regularly worked out in years, it was a bit daunting. However, a year and a half later, this has simply been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Im not one to go to a gym and run on a treadmill several times a week, it bores me to death. TKD has been the perfect fit with incremental accomplishment markers. Aside from the fact that I have lost over 20 lbs, having more energy, more self confidence and generally being the healthiest that I have been since high school, the bonding experience that I have had with my daughter has exceeded my wildest expectations.Tae Kwon Do is so more than just a sport, its a character builder. And US West Coast Murrayhill has been a blessing to our family.
