This place is perfect to help you learn karate and i went to this school with my brothers. the classes were fun and i was in the school for about 3 or 4 years. The community is great and everyone is nice. so if you have a kid that you think they need to learn karate then this is the perfect place for them

Sovereign martial art 🥋 is great and me and my son love it . I nlike it because it show kids how to respect there parents and also to be a better person or kid. It also show them how respect there teacher and will recommend this to any parents or kids for there children to join. My son changed since I put him there. My son tell me mommy am glad you join because that makes me do better and am more focus and it something we can both do together and when my brother is my age he can join with us

If you want to be stuck in a long term contract that you cant get out of then this is the school for you.This is a school thats very greedy for money and they dont care if youre in a financial situation or not. They want to get paid and if you want to get out of the contract then you have to pay the rest of the money in advance.The good thing about them is that theyre good with kids, so Ill give them that much.However, I wouldnt suggest coming here unless you have a load of money iin your bank account , but if youre in a financial situation then I recommend going elsewhere.

Weve had the opportunity to send our oldest son to this school for the past 4 years and have been witness of the positive impact that the RIGHT martial arts school can have on a child. The curriculum is challenging yet fair, the school is evolving and making positive changes. From our experience I can say that the ownership really sees students and their families as an extension of their own. I highly recommend SMA if you are looking to enroll in a Martial Arts School.

My sons and I train at this school. It was the best decision I have made. I started my older son here when he was bullied at a young age. Today he could and would take on any bully. They are no match for him. We went to two other karate schools before this one and felt that this one was the one for us. There is a strong feeling of family At this school. Everyone is very very supportive. My younger son has autism. I was hesitant to put him in karate. This school has embraced him and worked with him.... they even came in earlier and worked with him individually to help him when he was very little. He has come such a long way. Not only is he moving up in Belt rank but it has helped his ADHD and his focus and he is doing really well in school. I HIGHLY recommend this school for anyone with Autism.

I have two boys enrolled here and we LOOOVE this school. They are excellent with the kids. They are doing a great job teaching all the kids here. They host events that we almost always attend and have a great time! I couldnt imagine having our kids go anywhere else!!!

My 7yo has been a student since he was 3yo. My 4yo started last yr and absolutely love going to classes. The instructors are amazing and I see my kids progress during belt promotions. Lastly, they treat us like family!

I used to be close with the instructors, especially Edgardo Moran who was like a brother to me and I could talk whenever to them whenever I had a problem.It hurts that I had to leave, but it was necessary and even my therapist at the time said that I was right to leave.Edit I never mentioned anything about selling 🎸. Its just my screen name because I play 1.

The teacher has no patience with the students, he believes he should speak to 3,4 & 5 year old children like they are 15 or older, he is brash and arrogant, they are more interested in the money than the kids, and all they want is for the children to OBEY ME , this guy needs to learn some humility and perhaps he wont be so unhappy within himself, and no he does not run a day care center, and no he is not a baby sitter, and believe me I would NEVER have him or anyone on his team babysit, if I could give a minus star I absolutely would

Over the weekend, in honor of my 40th birthday, I completed a challenging rope course - 30 obstacles plus zip line, all 35 feet up. I signed up for kickboxing a year ago and I could not have completed the obstacle course without the core and upper body strength I have gained. More important, I would not have had the courage or boldness to do it. Thank you for helping me to remember my own power. The transformation Ive made in the past year has been amazing - both physically and mentally. A special thank you to Isaac, Alex, and Juan, for always putting up with my grumbling in class and still encouraging me to keep pushing. Every time one of you reminds me that little by little Ill get to where I want to be, it keeps me going. You have no idea the impact youve made on my life in so many ways and I cannot thank you enough.

Very disappointed with my daughters experience in the Belleville location. Purchased a trial that included 2 private lessons, (she received 1), 20 classes and a uniform. I was told they needed to get her uniform size from another location. The next week I was told they ordered new uniforms that should take a week to come in, one week turned into three. Lastly, I was told they were going to order the uniforms from a different company and they should be in by the end of the week. We went back two more times and still didnt receive it. The instructors were nice but they dont make an effort to make new kids feel welcome, or ensure they know what they are doing. My kid thought she wasnt doing a good job because they barely spoke to her and on top of that she was the only kid without a uniform. Going 2 times a week for more than 2 months I expected more.

Highly energetic, extremely helpful and supportive. A great place to get in shape and learn learn various styles of martial arts and self defense.

It was going well, until the managers resigned. The new managers are quite rude and there is not enough support with the children which my original contract was promised. If you are considering this school now dont. Not even worth the groupon.My kids were members from Dec through May 2014-15. I withdrew them as of today.

I wasnt sure if putting my daughter in a Martial Arts school was the route I really wanted to take but now I KNOW it was the best decision I ever made!! I dont even know where to begin about all of the positive things I like about this school. For starters, my daughter & I were welcomed by everyone there with open arms. The atmosphere is ALWAYS positive & there are ALWAYS smiling faces. Everyone there makes you feel like family :)Although it is a Martial Arts school & that is whats taught; they also teach the children about self-esteem, self discipline, self-control, how to focus, being responsible, & how to achieve their goals. My daughter started there only 6 short weeks ago but already has made such a turn around. Her focus & concentration are getting better and better everyday!!! Shes only a white belt now, but already she is asking how does she get to her blackbelt..lol. Although she has a long way to go, theres a determination that has been set inside her & alot of that is owed to the Instructors at Sovereign Martial Arts!! So I thank you...you guys ROCK!!!

SMA all the way. Great martial arts school. Since my son started attending SMA he has had a big turn around in character. He used to be always distracted and never followed directions the first time. He also used to be in trouble in school for always being distracted. Now he listens more and we dont have to repeat commands many times. He also has improved in school, behavior wise. They really show that they want the children to apply the principles of martial arts now just in SMA but at home and school. Love them.

Way too expensive for what you get, bathroom never has soap or paper towels, all equipment was handed down from other facilities since their priorities were the new ones. Old management made it at least pleasant, now that they are gone its totally not worth it.

I am not sure why anyone would call the owners rude. Since the day we walked in the door of SMA we have been treated like family. The owners of the SMA schools are caring and compassionate about the students and the martial arts. They greet each student by name and shake each parents hand every time they walk in the door. I am not sure how things used to be with the old management, but I know we are very proud members of SMA. They push the students to be the best that they can be... and because of that my daughter is thriving in the martial arts. SMA all the way!!!!

I took my daughter for first time last summer,.We still going 3 days a week..now im part of the practice all mondays...and make me so happy that i can share more time with my nena..... I can tell that is the best Karate Academy that i been .... Sensei Jose is awesome..Sensei Jana awesome..Sensei Toby..Gabrielle and Cody.. awesome.... THIS IS MY NEW HOME....!

My initial Phone consultation was very nice and informative. The woman on the phone seem to really care to what i was saying. So the first time I went over and take the tour and to observe the class, Immediately i smelled dirty socks aroma. (maybe it was just the matted floors smell. the walls looked like they needed to be painted over, the front desk area should be more clean and professional (better furniture i would say). The bathroom was clean but looked dungeony.So now over to the actually interaction with the people, i was greeted by a lovely lady, seem like she didnt know i was coming, but she was very sweet and gave me a tour and talk about the school. she showed us to our chairs to observe the class. The sensei looked young but age is just a number i guess. There was 3 other aids to help the sensei with the class (about maybe 30 kids). I would of like to see the sensei and the people helping him to have a uniformed look, so i would know that they were the teachers teaching the class. All in all the sensei was very nice and energetic and really had all the children engaged in the class, and really was positive throughout the whole class. At one point the kickboxing class started and was playing their own music, and the class i was viewing playing their music and it was getting very conflicting. Also i wanted to point out that on the website it says, If after a few classes you think this isnt the right fit for you and your child, simply let us know and well gladly refund you in full. BUT if you read on the paperwork they give and the back part says No refunds and then you sign to those agreements. So you decide on that one. People were nice, place needs some help, class look great kids look like they were having fun. Maybe ill give it shot... maybe

Let me first start by saying before i even enter or sign up for Soverign i researched other martail arts location and vice versa and there would some nice decent place but very pricey and only teached very limited styles of fighting or were not very flexible especially for a person with a busy lifestyle and working all the time . I was a man who played and coach sports all my life but due to working and life struggles became very inactive. i even try long distance running for a while but i felt i needed more so one day i went and found out more about Soverign martail arts. I loved it from day one. What i loved was the fact that at first even though i have no martial arts experience i was not really interested too much in kickiboxing but more of better self defense technique such as krav maga since i really not much of a kicker. The great thing about class was you will get a good work out and sweat. Parts of your body that you never work on will develop with fitness and time. In just a few days of classes i have grown and already confident about my abilities even with learning just a lil bit about krav maga. you will be testesd with time on whichever style or technique you will be interested to learn. there are belt promotions too. But the cool part is you get an open mind to other styles as well which would help become a more well rounded individual. Its important your attendance as everytime you miss becomes crucial to learning. You have students from all ages ,cultures ,men women that share diferent experiences and careers or life struggles that all come together as a great family and help each other to be better. it doesnt matter how unfit or fit you are if you have the will and desire to be the better but also have fun with a positive attitude while doing it with this great group then this is the place for you. The school has grown alot over time with much more fans and students it will continue to grow due to its great teachers and staff

While I was at SMA I was very happy, that was until I relocated and attempted to cancel my contract - the one that Ariane and Edgardo Moran both promised would be acceptable to do if I moved (over 70 miles away).I moved in July, but didnt have all the acceptable proof of my relocation until mid August. My credit card company said that it was a valid dispute for the charges I was incurring ($125 per month). I had sent them everything possible as soon as possible, but they still refused to cancel my contract.Currently, Im in collections with Member Solutions (their billing agency). Ariane and Edgardo did not do anything to help expedite canceling my contract. At the same time, I am now being charged the full amount by the collections agency after they screamed at me on the phone and told me if I didnt pay them $1200 I would be taken to court and have to get a lawyer.I am very disappointed with the customer service with the Belleville SMA, Member Solutions, and the agency they use to do collections.I DO NOT recommend using this service and encourage anyone to avoid getting involved in any type of contract that uses Member Solutions and illegally harasses and intimidates customers.
