Clarks has amazing teachers who are extremely professional and highly trained. My children are thriving and learning so much! Every time we have class my boys are extremely excited to go. The best part is how well the coaches communicate with the kids. My boys understand exactly what they need to do to thrive in this great sport. This gym is truly worth the time and money, we highly recommend this place. Thank you Clarks for doing an outstanding job!

This is an excellent facility and the instruction is top notch. Professor Clarks record speaks for itself. He is known throughout the US and abroad for his skill and the way he teaches encourages the growth of his students, instead of stifling it. The culture at the gym is that of a family, challenging each other to get better, but with a high standard of excellence and humility. Make no mistake, there are no free rides at this gym, you have to earn through blood and sweat. Anyone who calls this place a mcdojo obviously hasnt been smashed at Saturday open mat...by all means come join us. Thanks to Professor Ryan Clark and the many members who teach me every class. This place is a life saver.

You guys. I had never done Jits and this crew not only made me feel welcome, but safe and well cared-for. Ive been there a bit over six months now and its just getting more and more fun. The guys are protective, the girls are a rock-solid team, and the coaches have that relaxed sarcasm that reminds you its mostly just aggressive hugs. Best decision Ive made in quite a while; highly recommend.

Been training here for about 2 years. The coaches are helpful, kind, caring and their depth of knowledge seems endless. The Clarks U member group is an amazing diverse crowed from all walks of life. The relationships being built there will last forever. Occasionally I have gotten to class a bit early and seen the kids program being run. They are building some skilled, excited, confident kids. Wish they had an adult program similar to the kids program.Justin Brown

Coach Ryan Clark is a huge inspiration has a great head on his shoulders teaches more than jiu-jitsu such as breathing techniques and how to deal with anxiety. He is very involved in everyones lives in the gym and out of the gym. He trains all of his coaches to be top-notch leaders. This is hands-down the best gym in town. When I have a bad day every time I come into jiu-jitsu here at Clarks University I get a huge Kool-Aid smile on my face as I see everyone and their smiles as well. I would highly recommend this gym to anyone and everyone. Thank you Ryan Clark for having an amazing facility and staff! Sincerely Jamie Kozlowski.

I have a 9 year old and a 14 year old in Muay Thai, and I am continually impressed with the attention and support that the coaches give my kids. They are always excited to go to class every week and are exhausted and happy afterwards when they’re done. Coach Ryan has created a great community within the studio, which motivates the other coaches and students to be friendly, helpful, and encouraging towards each other. My kids have gained so much more confidence in themselves, have a great time, and I can’t wait to see how much more they grow.

My kids have been attending Clark’s University for two years. Ryan and his family run a top notch operation teaching kids, not just martial arts, but values, morales and respect for one another. These are priceless life lessons that combined with jujitsu, have brought about a newfound confidence in my kids. I would highly recommend anyone looking for an amazing gym with a family feel and wonderful programs to explore all the options Clark’s has to offer.

I personally want to say that my familys experience at this dojo has been far beyond what I ever imagined! The coaches put in time, and have incredible patience. We have been going there for almost 3 years! All three of my children attend classes, and so does my husband! My oldest has ADHD, and doing Jujitsu has helped him with his confidence, learning to focus, make friends, and most importantly teach him respect-- because lets be honest, it takes a village to raise kids! This dojo has been family from the start! I highly recommend this gym! We will continue to support this dojo because they focus on self improvement, mental health, and community. 5 stars all the way! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Outstanding gym and staff! I cant speak to the BJJ side of it, but I have been a member of four striking gyms in Oregon and Clarkes is by far the best! Coach Ryan and coach Gage teach Muay Thai from a very educational standpoint and the quality they deliver their lessons from is fantastic. From what I understand they have both trained in Thailand so you are getting direct knowledge. It is a very structured and disciplined class, and they dont make it easy, thats kind of the point! I always look forward to class when my schedule permits it. You wont find a better gym or staff in the state - Ive looked. Thanks Coach Ryan and Gage!

Clarks University of Martial Arts is a fantastic place to train. Whether youre looking to compete or just some confidence-building exercise it is an excellent facility ran by an amazing man. Ryan Clarks knowledge and skill is incredible, he clearly has a life time invested into his art, and it shows. However, as he tells me all the time, being able to teach is all about attitude, and he lives that philosophy 100%. His high energy level and love of the art is infectious. One cant help but to be engaged and excited to go to class.I originally got into the martial arts to learn to defend myself. Since then it has become so much more and has helped me to grow as a person. Clarks University of Martial Arts has been the vehicle that has accomplished this. And this is not to mention all the wonderful people I get the privilege to train with. The atmosphere is so friendly and inviting. Taking the first step into a martial arts gym can be an intimidating experience. Not at Clarks. And I love that.

Clarks University is a truly special place.... Ryan is an amazing coach and such a great guy. Quinn, who teaches afternoon classes is awesome and will also progress your game quickly with gi and no gi. The gym is state of the art, kept clean, and has big changing rooms for women and men. I think what I liked most about the gym is how high level the competition is, while still being the most welcoming community I have come across in a gym. Everyone in there is so nice, and are quick to help you progress your game. There was a lot I loved about living in Bend, but I can honestly say having Clarks University there was my favorite part!

For a long time I looked for a gym that felt like a place where I wanted to invest my time and resources. Where I could engage in a progression of learning, and appreciate the company. Clarks offers a two-week free trial that allows you to try out everything freely, which was quite refreshing. (I dont recommend gyms that force you to give them your credit card info before stepping on the mat.) So I did the free trial, and 4 months later Im still excited to go to class this evening, try to implement what I learned last week, and learn new stuff. In the world of martial arts, Ryan Clark has the rare blend of being: passionate about the art, absurdly talented at his craft, and an exceptional teacher (professor). I cherish the instruction I receive from him and feel good about paying my membership.

My journey started when I realized my kids had some new heros in their lives...Coach Ryan, Coach Aaron and of course Coach Aaron aka Batman, have been some of the most positive role models my children have ever been around. They all are true masters of patience and also determination and pride in what they do. I was so intrigued by there approach on learning I myself decided to try. I am proud to say being a Marine, at times I found myself longing to be a part of something more. I finally found it at Clarks University of Martial Arts. I started weighing about 190 pounds and now I am down to 165 which was what I weighed when I was 17 years old and going to boot camp. I am now 38 years old and I feel like I was 17 again. Like Coach Ryan says Jiu Jitsu is not a hobby, but a way of life. I am honored to be a part of this gym and to have had the opportunity to meet other instructors who are just amazing and to be quiet honest some of the best competitors in the sport. One more person to recognize is, Quinn the brown belt Jedi. He also has given me a different approach at BJJ and has also influenced me to be better and to push the limits on what I think I am capable of, and for that I thank you as well. If your looking for a home or a place where your kids will grow and learn a positive lifestyle than this is the place for you. I would encourage anyone who reads this to give it a try and allow yourself to see lifes challenges with a different set of eyes. Anything is possible if you give it a try! Thanks Clarks for everything and cant wait to get back to the mats!

I visited Clarks University of Martial Arts while on vacation in Bend Oregon. You should too.The owner Ryan Clark is very professional while kind and polite. The facility is excellent, with great mat space and clean locker rooms. Very open air feel.I trained gi jiujitsu. Im a brown belt at my school. Ryan first had us do three types of excellent warm up mobility drills which all could and should be used live too. He then showed a good entry to attacking open guard, working quickly to a headquarters position with collar grips. Drilled that and he then showed a series of knee slice passes from there, with excellent pointers on grip control, head position, framing and preventing knee replacement throughout the series to side control. He related that back to prior lessons on attacks from side. We all drilled that and worked through the technique. Ryan then had the attacker get deep through the positions as a drill, and then go live at the final position. A great teaching tactic, focusing on that incremental part of the series live. The students were friendly and skilled, and while it clearly appeared they could go hard, my rolls with Ryan, his black belt student and a young good purple belt were fluid and enjoyable. If you live in the Bend area, check out this school. Its good for adults and they have kids programs too. Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is an excellent activity for kids.If youre visiting, stop in after your long hike or bike. Guys will flow with you.

The most important thing you need to know before attending Clarks University of Martial Arts is that we have fun and we train hard.I had no interest in martial arts prior to visiting Clarks and only attended to oblige a friend. However, two hours with Ryan captured my interests and I eagerly came back on my own. I started with only two classes (JKD and Kali) but over the last sixteen months have joined both Muay Thai and Womens Jiu Jitsu. I am frequently amazed by Ryan. Not only does he have distinct knowledge in each art but he also knows when it’s appropriate and advantageous to combine arts to maximize an individuals skill.Further, Ryan’s enthusiasm and patience transcends to the entire gym. I have great respect for everyone I train with and have made many friends. Everyone works to make the environment at Clarks welcoming for both newbies and old pros, the old and the young, and willing students of any size.
