Omar is an amazing instructor, he is inclusive and will challenge you to become the best you can be! The team is a fantastic group of people who are loving and patient as you learn the moves. BJJ is an incredible way to get in shape, maintain your shape, learn to defend yourself, make quality friends, and maintain your sanity by destressing!!!!! It’s the miracle drug. This is the place to go in the Tulsa area.

This business is more than a school that facilitates jiu jitsu. It’s an academy that helps build positivity in the lives of those that grace the mats. It’s a family. One that cares for one another. Visit Omar and his team to be introduced to a life changing experience.

At the end of last year I joined OFBJJ with two of my kids (a 10-yr-old boy and 7-yr-old girl). I was 39, weak, and fat. I didn’t push the kids, I just wanted them to have a place to make friends and learn how to do physical stuff. I was happy to hear them say they wanted to keep going. If you’re looking for a place to join, visiting a BJJ academy can be intimidating: guys doing rough stuff, everybody knows each other, and (as you get older like me) you live with the realization that you just can’t do what you used to be able to do. All of that makes it difficult to walk into a new gym. I mean it’s easier to get a Fatty at Burn Co. and watch football. But if you’re debating, give Omar’s place a try. Here’s why:1) It’s a family friendly gym with excellent upper belts giving their time to help teach kids jiu jitsu. In a class of 12-20, you’ll have up to five trainers helping out.2) Omar’s a great guy and a pretty good instructor :). So much of the tension I mentioned above is handled by his cool-headed example and laid back attitude. I’ve never heard him say an unkind word or denigrate anyone in anyway. He lives in reality and will help you to get to your potential, wherever you’re starting (or continuing) your BJJ journey. I came to the gym with years of karate and knew I would have to start over, and he was cool with that and supportive. So, for first timers I will say, “This is your gym”.3) The guys at the gym are some pretty cool guys (and gals!). Yes, there’s a core group-but there’s a network of BJJ guys and gals that cycle in and out regularly. Give respect and you will get respect. There’s a mix of belts, and some really good guys to help you learn the ropes. Listen, every gym needs different types of guys to help you along the way. You don’t want a gym full of pansies, but you don’t want a gym full of nutcases either. OFBJJ has a couple of guys who will push you hard in the realms of pain if you want to (you should!), but there’s also guys who are chill and will flow a little more laid back. If you’re going to learn BJJ, you need a mix. Some of the best lessons I learned were from nutcases who sat on me and made me endure.4) Price is good for what you get! And I suggest you get all you can from Omar, because he’s willing to give it to you. It was one of the best decisions of my life, and we’re so thankful to he and Mariangel for starting us on what we hope to be a lifelong BJJ adventure. OOSSUU!
