I’ve recently moved to Boca from California and found this gym on Facebook. I took the trial class and liked the atmosphere so much I decided to sign up for the whole year. Knowledgeable instructors and friendly teammates I would definitely recommend this place to anyone!

I have been coming to this academy now for over 4 years. It’s the only place I will go and train when I’m traveling through south Florida. Joao has built a family environment here where everyone feels comfortable, learns & trains hard. Thank you for letting my family be apart of your family. Keep up the great work.

I train in NJ and dropped in for a class while visiting Boca on vacation and I was so impressed by Professor Joao, his students and facility. The instruction is insanely good. Professor Joao added some details to techniques I already knew that made an instant difference. Also this isn’t a “take your head off” type place - while there certainly are great players the vibe is relaxed and welcoming. Highly recommended!

Amazing instructors, Matthew has extreme patience with kids.I shopped around for years!By far one of the best schools in Boca, dont waste your money with places that simply have your kids excercise, as your kid does that at school for free!.Here they will learn to defend themselves in any scenario.

I left a review on yelp word for word. I rarely leave reviews. But I had such a positive experience here i just had too....”I did a drop in no-gi class, as I am only in Boca Raton for a few days. I called the day previous and spoke with Joao. He was very receptive. I have only been training BJJ for the last 2 months and explained this would only be my second no-gi class. He made the instructor Marcus aware and he basically guided me through their routines. When it came time to roll, the students were awesome. A real family environment of people who are respectful and friendly. If I lived in the area i know this would be the school Id go too. Thanks again !!”

This is best Jiu Jitsu school I have been to. And I have been to many. 3 things that make this the best school are the instruction, the students and the attitude.The instructor is world class. Not only is he an excellent technician, but he is also a fantastic teacher. He teaches the entire technique and the theory that makes it work. No watered down baby steps.The other students come from varied backgrounds. From no experience, to collegiate wrestlers to Judo blackbelts. Exposure to different styles helps improve your bjj skills and become a more rounded martial artist.The attitude is always positive and helpful. We roll hard, but always emphasize technique over speed or strength. The other students are eager to help where needed.

The environment at BTT in Boca Raton is top notch and Joao Amaral, the head instructor, is a class act. He is very technical, good at explaining BJJ moves, which are not simple, and he makes you feel like family. The school makes all feel welcome, whether you are training to be a national champ or a middle-aged guy training for recreational purposes.

BTT Boca is an awesome place - Prof. Joao is very experienced and knowledgeable with BJJ and he makes you feel very welcome for everyone. I got the Groupon voucher and showed up - been to three sessions and he doesnt give pressure to sign up for monthly membership, unlike most Jiujitsu places are pushy to sell stuff to you. He understands individuals circumstances and situations, and makes his best effort to show the beauty in this sports. Prof. Joao and the team makes you feel like it is a safe and inclusive space for everyone. I saw a couple of female jiujitsu practitioners during his classes, and him and the brown belts really try to make them feel included (Ive seen gyms having sort of a male-dominating attitude toward women).He shows various techniques and how beneficial jiujitsu can be - so it is hard not to continue practicing this martial art! Im a newbie compared to everyone else at the gym. I cannot wait till I become part of the BTT family (as he emphasizes that everyone is like a family there), once my schedule allow for evening classes! Whether you want to get fit or practice the gentle art, you should definitely check this place out!

BTT is a wonderful environment for training Jiu-Jitsu. The team is full of great people and Prof. Joao Amaral is a top class instructor. There are plenty of higher belts who offer this assistance as well as lower belts and beginners who make it a comfortable atmosphere no matter what your level. BTT comes highly recommended for anyone looking to train. They also offer Kids classes in BJJ and Judo.
