I started taking classes here about 3 months ago and was immediately hooked.By the end of my first week I had a different sense of self-confidence and I’m no longer worried about how I’ll react in a self-defense situation. The classes here are incredibly comprehensive and intuitive, even for a guy like myself who could never pay attention well in school. All of the instructors are great at teaching the techniques and accommodating those who have certain difficulties.I highly recommend signing up, you wont regret it!

We were so new to martial arts and were very unsure of which dojo to choose… when we walked in the door of Gracie we were welcomed with open arms. We loved watching the class before us. Michael is awesome with the kids. They have a blast and truly learn some absolutely amazing life long skills. I am sad that I did not put them in jiu jitsu sooner. Truth be told we were skeptical until the girls came home and started practicing on Dad… let’s just say…money WELL SPENT!

Just started taking the Gracie Combatives classes a couple weeks ago. I had been thinking about signing up for several months but kept coming up with excuses on why I needed to wait. Was concerned about being so out of shape, trying something completely new to me, and what was the vibe of the people here...After these past couple weeks, my only regret is waiting so long to get started.Great atmosphere, great instructors, very simple and understandable breakdown of each technique you learn in each class. You then practice the techniques at your own pace with a partner. Dont worry about what to wear either. They hook you up with a Gi (uniform) to wear. Has a mix of ages, genders, and fitness levels.Im telling you... walk in or give them a call, but most importantly just get started!

If youre looking for a place to train for real life scenarios, this is the place to go. Would definitely recommend to anyone who wants to learn how to effectively and efficiently defend themselves. Extremely knowledgeable instructors break each technique down and works with every student. This is an all inclusive program that works for anyone. The atmosphere here is very friendly to all walks of life, and people from every profession train here, including game designers, construction, law enforcement, nurses, business owners, etc. While the techniques and fundamentals here can be used in competition, thats not the focus of the training at the start, but is taught once youve shown mastery of the fundamental techniques. So if your intent is training for mma or other competitions, Id recommend calling ahead and speaking with Michael. Overall, i have loved every second training here.

We love the family feel of QMAC. Mrs. Ashley and Mr. Matt are so patient and work so well with the kids. I think Martial Arts is an important part of our boys development because it has taught them important listening skills, respect, following direction, patience, and balance. I have definitely noticed positive improvements in all of these areas since starting classes. They are learning life skills that will help them in so many ways.

I’ve trained in martial arts for 12 years, in both Florida and Arizona. Quest Martial Arts Center has a large program in toshindo, with both children and adult programs that go from white belt to advanced training for black belts. The instructors are positive, enthusiastic, supportive, knowledgeable, and effective in teaching. They also have extensive networks in the broader practitioner community, and bring master teachers from around the country who know this school and want to teach us.I have never regretted coming to Quest for a second, and I suspect neither will you.

Ive been going to Quest for a little under a year now and could not be any happier with it. I looked at several different martial arts gyms before I settled on Quest. In fact, I wasnt even really interested in BJJ specifically, but I figured Id give it a try since they offered a free trial. After my trial I decided to stick with them, because the level of care was more than the other gyms, and they were all very knowledgeable. As a woman, it can be tricky to find a place to do a mixed gender sport with full body contact and still feel safe and comfortable. I have not had to worry about that here. All of the staff make it clear that you can speak up at any time if you are feeling uncomfortable or uncertain with anything. The instructors here are all very personable and they take the time to learn your name, what youre up to, etc. I have learned a lot since Ive started going here, and I think they do a good job making this sport applicable to real life as well. Im not one to shell out for physical activity (I have a gym I can go to for free), but Quest is honestly worth every penny. I would highly recommend giving them a try.

I went in with my husband (who is also a student there) and by his second class I joined up. Matt, Ashley, and Michael were wonderful and helped me find ways to adjust things as needed. You see, I have Cerebral palsy. It is a mild case but it affects my balance, strength, and flexibility. I was nervous I couldnt do it, but they did not let me give up. I am glad they didnt because I did it!! I even graduated to my next belt!We had our kids join also. They adore Matt and Ashley! My kids see them as chosen aunt and uncle. Has been a year that I have been training in self-defense and due to my work schedule I can only go once a week but in just one year I have learned so much. I thought nothing has been sticking in my brain and I have been forgetting things that I have been taught however, it has been such an eye opener. For example when people try to scare me as a prank I now raise my hands up and I get my stance ready in defense mode and they are the ones that get scared. When I pump gas I take one card out from my purse, keys, hide my purse, take my phone and lock my doors then, when I pump gas I look around try to memorize what people look like and I am completely aware of my surroundings.I was never like that before. I would just shut the door leave my purse on the passenger chair and just pump gas and stare at my phone completely unaware of the world around me.At work I show apartments. I never leave my phone in the office. I bring my keys that is attached to my lanyard and my phone just because I can use my lanyard and keys to defend myself. I have never needed to go to that extreme but I have used “stop” “Back off” a few times that so far has worked along with calling the police. As a woman who always works alone and work long hours just to know that I have the knowledge to be aware of my surroundings and with the extra understanding and know how that I am learning it gives me confidence enough that if or when something happens in my life I have a fighting chance.I would say that I would recommend quest chandler martial arts not only will you gain new friends and family it will change your entire life.-Betsy Ponce

As a female practicing BJJ, it can sometimes be hard to find a place you truly feel comfortable. Some places offer female only, but I still wanted to practice taking down someone larger and/or stronger than myself. Michael, the owner, and instructors Matt and Ashley are seriously a dream when it comes to staff. They were very empowering and took my self-defense minded approach very seriously and always there with a helpful tips or explanation. I really enjoy the class set-up and flow. I highly recommend this dojo as a starter gym for any female looking to get into BJJ and/or just self defense techniques. They are not cardio-heavy like some other gyms and focus on technique and mastery of the skills and body placement. Its not just an self-proclaimed BJJ expert deciding on your skill or belt color, its a very planned out curriculum that makes belt movement standard and fair.

Not a day goes by where I am not proud to be a small part of this school. Seven years has given me the amazing experience of getting to know-and growing with- some of the best people on this planet...seven years of exploring and discovering what we are truly capable of.New faces are welcomed immediately. As a long time student, I can say that it is so amazing and rewarding to see someone transform right there on the mats. The best part of it is witnessing the ecosystem of students helping other students become stronger and better than they were. We all step on the mat feeling slightly unsure of ourselves, but because we are surrounded by supportive staff and training partners, we soon find ourselves eager to learn more...to push past those boundaries we started with, and embrace training philosophies that we might not have known about, had we listened to our fears in the beginning. And to be a part of that? I dont think there is anything better.

I started taking my son to this place since it was on Groupon. So my expectations were not too high nor I knew what I was trying to get out of it. The orientation given by Ashley helped me understand Martial arts and it’s need. The first few classes led by Matt and Ashley were so phenomenal that I enrolled by son permanently. I have been so happy about my decision on this. My son loves taking these classes. I have seen a huge change in my 6 year old confidence and endurance. The classes also tries to make families part of the learning and goes beyond just Martial arts since it talks about Ninja core values like self discipline, Focus and Respect etc which are critical to anyone’s life. I would encourage anyone at any age group to take a class with Matt and Ashley and I can bet that you are going to love it and learn from it.

The training partners and instructor Michael are all easy going with no egos, helpful and truly want to help you get better. They were very patient with me having never done BJJ before. I did 3 classes a week and always looked forward to each and every one of them. It was both fun and educational for me. I tried out their BJJ combatives program. It is geared more towards self-defense than competition. It makes sense if you dont want to waste your time learning rules for a sport your not going to compete in and just want to focus on actual self-defense. I have been going to classes at Quest Martial Arts for almost 3 months now, and I highly recommend it!**If this seems a little TLDR for you, scroll to the bottom for basic points as why YOU should go to Quest Martial ArtsIt started out with me realizing that I HATE EXERCISING. No, seriously, its monotonous and I cant stand it. It was a struggle forcing myself to go to the gym everyday, so I wanted to mix it up and do something with more purpose that isnt as boring. For a while Id really been wanting to do karate. Im not a huge sports person, and the idea of doing something that had milestones had a big appeal to me. So I opened up the old Google and looked at some reviews online. Quest Martial Arts came up highly reviewed so I decided to check it out and make use of their free trial! So my roommate and I came in and we were very impressed after even the first day! Its been 3 months and now we have our yellow belts, and we have no intention of stopping attending any time soon. Everyone is very friendly and you leave there every class feeling energized and confident!***Here is why YOU should start going to To Shin Do classes right NOW:1. Its a really close knit community! You are always working with new partners and making new friends. Woo, friendship!2. This is not your regular karate class where there are like 30 people and you just do some redundant round house kicks! You are always working with partners and there are no boring sequences to memorize! Its self-defense that is applicable in the real world, which is awesome!3. You build self-confidence and leave every day feeling great about yourself! I found that going to these classes has taught me DISCIPLINE and CONFIDENCE- helping me in more areas of my life than just karate!4. You get to be a ninja!5. The instructors are AWESOME. I always feel like they are invested in my progress and they make me feel confident that I can succeed. So at the end of the day, no more boring gym outings for me! I always look forward to my To Shin Do class!******************UPDATE******************It seems appropriate for me to update this review again, being I made it a few years ago now. I am STILL going to To-Shin Do twice a week. I cant believe it has been over a year!Looking back now I can really see where going to Quest Martial Arts Chandler has really impacted my day to day life. Here are the ways I have really changed in these last few years:• I carry myself better and use my body more effectively• I have more self-confidence• I generally feel more fit and healthy!I honestly couldnt recommend this place more.
