Master Hwangs is a great place to learn and train Tae Kwon Do. The training is tailored to the age and skill level of the individual making it easy for all members of the family to train and learn at their pace. There are a variety of classes at skill levels, as well as an all skill levels class so that your family can attend together regardless of belt level. .All the instructors are professional and friendly and work to help you achieve your best in class.I have been to many Tae Kwon Do schools around the world over the years and feel that Master Hwangs school is one of the best around.

Master Hwang and the team of instructors, to include the student instructors, are professional, invested in the program, and are incredibly patient. 2 of my 3 children or on the ASD spectrum and they are treated with the same respect and level of instruction as everyone else. Master Hwangs step by step approach to his programming starts with focus and works through essential skills up to leadership. These skills will allow all who participate to be equipped to meet any challenge on and off the mat. My kids get a great work out, learn discipline over their mind and bodies and have a lot of fun doing it! I highly recommend!

Master Hwang’s school is an phenomenal total family activity. I am a Retired US Army Colonel with 33 years of service and Master Hwangs school provides my kids and I a very healthy and wholesome activity focused on having fun through a sport of self-defense and goal oriented achievement. My kids were having so much fun staying active and earning their belts they asked me to join them on their journey to earning their Black Belt. I am grateful for the activity which we can all do together; with different ages, skills, and fitness levels. At 51 years old, I am happy to have found a physical activity to maintain my personal flexibility, increase muscular strength, and a lifetime activity we can all do together as a family. This is an exceptional school lead by a Master Black Belt and his superlative team of Black Belt instructors!

My daughter joined a couple months ago and she loves it. Everyone is very friendly and helpful with anything we need. We have showed up on days we were not supposed to and Master Hwang made it so she could still get a little practice in. Good communication with parents as well.

We are loving Master Hwangs! We previously used the YMCA after school program and it is NOTHING compared to the discipline and respect that Master Hwangs provides. Everyone to Miss Jennifer to Masters do an amazing job with my son! His confidence has increased so much and his self control has improved!!! Master Hwang and staff are excellent w the young students increasing their self esteem, confidence and focus on and off the mat! Classes are disciplined yet fun and enjoyable! My daughter started last year. It has helped her confidence, gain friendship and discipline. I recently joined and we both enjoy the time together. It gives us a connection, and we share the same goals and excitement.

Classes are being held with social distancing applied. Participants are encouraged to stay home if they are sick. Curriculum has changed to allow four proper social distancing.

Master Hwangs Tae Kwon Do is amazing. The school is teaching my daughters discipline and self confidence. They absolutely love the school and the staff.

My daughter has attended classes for over a year now and has enjoyed it. Not only has it made her feel a sense of responsibility for earning her next belt, it also has taught her self discipline and has helped her harness her focus and energy. The schedule is very accommodating which leads me to say that all Masters/Instructors are very approachable. Their tact and level of professionalism is what I admire from the parent stand point.

We have been at this studio for over three years now. My son loves it and chose this over all other sports and he has truly gained confidence and respect in all aspects of life! I too have joined recently as an adult and the instructors and staff make it enjoyable and challenging for all levels and ages! Truly a great place to experience World Class Tae Kwon Do!

All of my children have enjoyed being apart of this school. It has been a great experience for them. The instructors are great with the kids, very encouraging and teach them to work together. **NOT A GOOD ROLE MODEL** See my dads story in the previous review. I was very sad when Master Hwang closed his studio and didnt reopen it. I enjoyed the classes, but after he did not refund our money I could not sign up at another gym to finish my black belt classes. I thought that he was a role model, but now I realize that he is simply a good instructor and lacks the morals to be a good role model. Im also sad that we could not find a resolution that would have avoided this negative comment, but this was the choice that he made so I recommend that you take your kid somewhere else to train.

My 4 year old son has been with Master Hwang a little over a month now and he loves going to class. In the last month he has learned the Korean terms and how to count to 10 in Korean. He learns something new each class and loves to go home to practice with his friend who is also in Master Hwang class. All the instructors are nice and knowledgeable and make us feel like family instead of customers.

My son absolutely loves his lessons, excited to go every single time! Already seeing an improvement in his skills and discipline. We love it so much, I signed up too 🙂. Reasonably priced, family friendly and varied class times. Highly recommend!

This place has been so good for my son. He struggled in school and has difficulties with focus and patience. After spending the last year and a half there, my son shows significant improvement in focus, discipline, and accountability. Master Hwang truly cares about the students. He and all of the instructors will talk to you and your child and help when your child is struggling, whether in school, at home, or with Taekwondo.Well worth the money. Definitely worth the time.

Master Hwang’s World Class Tae Kwon Di School is a very good school, my kids enjoy so much the time they have in there. Master Hwangs is a great place kids and adults. Our son started last summer during summer camp. He fell in love and is now working his way towards his blackbelt. The instructors are in tune with the needs of the students and different styles of instruction needed to reach each student. A real family!

I love this TKD studio. Master Hwang is quite the parents parent in addition to being an excellent instructor. He uses older students to teach the younger ones which is great b/c theres someone their size or close enough reinforcing the necessary skills. Chances are your kid will pickup some Korean terms quickly. Love the movie nights and my kiddo had the best birthday party there last month. More than recommend especially if youre looking for opportunities to help your kid(s) focus.

My son started TKD at Master Hwangs World Class TKD just over two years ago and he has grown immensely! The Instructors are great with children and teach them life lessons, discipline, and TKD.

Master Hwang’s World Class Tae Kwondo is by far the best around. Master Hwang is patient, kind, and his instruction is top notch! In just a few short months, I have seen an amazing turn around in my boys confidence and behavior.

MILITARY FAMILIES BEWARE! Very disappointed I have to write a bad review. My son enjoyed classes while we were stationed here with the military. We moved out of state in August, and under the relocation clause in the contract, we notified and sent several items of documentation over the course of 3 months showing we moved. However, it wasnt until we stopped payment and disputed the 3 months of charges, that Master Hwangs took action to cancel our contract. Now they are trying to collect fees assigned by their billing company during those 3 months and 1 month charge of classes. NOT a best business practice.

My son loves this place he is not only learning the various skills required to advance to a higher belt he is getting positive reinforcement of the values of goal setting, self control, confidence, respect, resposibility, and leadership.

Parents alert !!!!!!!$$$$$Do not sign on a 3 yrs contract with master Hwang. He is banking on your contract. He is a world class scammed, not world class taekwondo. He is eating your contract and collecting money from parents. I was a fool that I had signed on a 3 yrs and cant get out of it. Although my job has been relocated to Richmond, I am still commuting back and forth. He would not excuse my kids from the contract, the fact that I cant take them. First, he would do anything to convince these parents into to signing a 3yrs contract . Then he would only concern with your kids the 1st month. The rest of the teaching had been taught by his teenager black belt student. My kids did not learn like he had promised. To me its like an exercise class. As a result, he is loaded on a fat paycheck every month from all these students. He has over 500 students x$135 a month= $$$$$(You do the math).Thats a hefty cash every month. Last, be aware that parents will spend on equipment $249 + $60 test fee. He did not prepare parents that at the signing of the contracts. Hell decide to do the belt tests when he need more money to spend during holiday season for his family. I have noticed that he will have belt testing during Christmas and other holiday. He will get $60 per student during belt testing. Imagine 20 students X $60=$$$$Overall parents please be very aware of MASTER Kwang.Zero star!

**BUYER BEWARE - DONT PAY IN ADVANCE UNLESS YOU ARE ABLE TO AFFORD TO LOSE IT** In 2012, I paid Master Hwang $4,869 in February 2012 for the black belt program (3 year program) for me and my son. Rather than do monthly payments, MH gave me a discount to pay in full up front. In November 2013, the Chesapeake Dojang closed due to mold issues. MH and the strip center landlord debated over who was responsible for remediation of the mold issue. While MH did offer for us to go to the Suffolk Dojang, we did could not spend 2 hours a day traveling to TKD classes. MH decided to close the Chesapeake Dojang and kept telling me that he would refund my money once he settled the lawsuit with the strip center landlord. I continually followed up with MH for 2 years trying to get a refund and he decided not to answer my emails or return my calls. So I am beginning the process to share my poor experience with MH TKD. Since I am out the $1,893.50, I will be sure to warn other potential clients to look for martial arts training with an instructor who has better business ethics.

Both my sons are learning Tae Kwon Do thru Master Hwangs World Class TKD and they love it! My oldest (9yo) had some focus issues before he started and since going, even his academic teachers have commented on how much better his focus has gotten. Likewise my youngest (who started at age 4, now 6) has really excelled in Master Hwangs program. Master Hwang uses lots of positive reinforcement and challenges each of his students to do the best they are capable of. His additional instructors are also top quality, ensuring each student gets the attention they need to continue growing and learning TKD. Would definitely recommend this program to others!

BUYERS BEWARE!! I believe all this place looks for is to rip you off for your money. They made us sign a 3 contract. Three years is a bit extreme. If you decide you dont like it or can no longer go, you are stuck with 3 years of payments. They are not willing to work with you at all to relieve of your contract, even for financial difficuties.

In response to the last review I would just like to say that I have a son that has been diagnosed with ADD. One of the things I have learned in dealing with my child is he needs structure, discipline and extra focus. Well it just so happens that Master Hwang and his staff provide this among other things. So NO MATTER what the AGE of his instructors they provide classes that develop your childs focus, discipline, ability to follow directions, and of course coordination and physical skills . My child and family have gained a new family since we have joined and I NEVER felt pressured when signing the contract. I felt I was told exactly what was expected. So please dont let the last comment keep you from joining Master Hwangs. WHAT YOU AND YOU CHILD GAIN FROM THE WHOLE TAE KWON DO PROCESS IS PRICELESS!!
