Prepare for a 5 hour wait. Bring the following:-A chair or stool (I did not have this but many people did)-A small cooler with cold drinks/snacks/lunch (I drank around 5 cans of sparkling water, snacks are necessary - honestly lunch would’ve been a nice treat)-Sunscreen-An umbrella to protect yourself from the sun-A book-An external battery pack for your phone if you want to use it while you wait-cash in case the ice cream cart comes by! And to pay for your license, it’s slightly cheaper than with a card (mine cost $30)Despite it being open for over a year, the wait time is incredibly long. You should prepare for a 5 hour wait (mine was in a heat index of 97 degrees) to get into the building, and try to plan your visit around cooler (bot not cold) weather.Honestly, I wonder if it’s better to drive out to the one in Lombard. All in all it took me 6 hours.

I’ve been here in line since 8:06am and its 10:50am now. Nearly 3 hours of waiting in line and I still had an hour of wait to to probably. Prepare yourself to be here for at least 3 hours just waiting in line, if not 4-5 hours to get all your businesses done.I unfortunately had another appointment to get to so I had to leave while I was already this close to getting inside. Hope no one else makes my mistake!

Be prepared for a long line. I tried on a Saturday got there at 7am and was turned away because the line was too long. Tried again on a Wednesday and got there at 6am with about 25 people in front of me. Made it out of there at 8:30am. When I left the line was wrapped around the building.So go as early as you can and expect it to take around 3 hours. Once you get inside though it’s pretty quick.

I needed to visit the written test facility for a motorcycle permit. I waited 3 hours in line just to eventually get to a payment clerk not attending anybody and TWO test clerk not attending anybody? Why did I need to wait in line when the inside process had zero wait and took me 5 minutes to complete? They have folks in there to handle my exact situation but I’m standing in line with for hours for people who just need to see a clerk? Why aren’t they breaking off these portions like the title side, getting people out of that line, getting people with unusual needs in and out to help everybody?

Probably one of the worst run DMVs in the state, possibly country. Came in last Monday at 7:30AM, not only was there already a line going around the building, but little did everyone know the building wasnt even open for that day. The one employee who bothered to show up went around in his car telling everyone who had waited two hours or more that morning that the building was closed. If you arrive any later than 8AM expect to be turned away. Any later than 6AM and you face a four to six hour waiting time outside in the elements, snow, rain, or heat wave. This is the DMV from hell.

Went at 5:30a on a Monday for real ID. Few people in front of me already. By 6:30am about 200 ppl in line. DMV employees came out to make sure everyone had proper doc. About half the people show up unprepared and get kicked out, rightly so. I got in at 7:30a sharp and was out by 8:10a. Good turnaround and everyone was nice and friendly.

Theres some workers who arent very nice just disrespect them. One workers whom is a old woman wasnt very nice, what? What do you want?, tell me I cant speak spanish!. Im not even gonna speak spanish but she just carry on disrespect me, that anger me and hurt. The next time shes with a customer, she woulld need a help she wouldnt say that to them or just tell her colleagues to help translate or say sorry I cant this languages. All the customers trying to be respectful to a workers but no workers disrespect them

Arrived yesterday (Fri.) at 7 AM with my 15 year old son to get his permit. Line was about 100 + people deep. Thankfully brought an umbrella ! Got inside about 8.45. Everything was orderly mostly maintaining 6 feet of social distance. Was pretty funny when the lady mopping up after us literally squeezed out both sides of a guys drenched sweatshirt and mopped up the puddles. By about 9.30 he was taking his test. Everyone was friendly until the end when I asked the test lady a quick basic question about the permit. Her answer was a cold, stern sir, you go wait in your car now. Ok, good luck buddy, see ya. Twenty minutes later hes back with his permit and he drove home legally!

Arrived Monday 4/5 before 6 a.m. there were already about 30 people in line. By the time DMV opened at 7:30 the line wrapped around the building. Workers will check that you have all the required paperwork for a Real ID - no they will not accept substitutes - look on the list and be sure you have what you need or you are wasting your time. Arrive well before opening - Monday is solely for Real IDs no other services. Seniors are brought to head of line so I was first to enter was finished by 8:15.

If you are applying for REALID, plan to come at 5am in the morning. The DMV website stated that this office will only do REALID applications on Monday, when I was there at 11am in the morning, the lines are so long that it stopped accepting new people. They really need an online appointment system.

I was there at 7:00am, the line is already at the parking lot. It takes at least 4-5 HOURS to get inside, it is super hot！Make sure to bring water and umbrella, and be super patient…

Prepare for your visit as if you were going camping. Bring a foldable chair, plenty of water/food, sunscreen/umbrella, something to keep you entertained, and arrive as early as possible. There is shade on one side of the building and a tent on the other, but otherwise youll be getting plenty of sun. Not a bad idea to delay your visit to the fall, if you can. If you are getting a RealID, make sure to triple-check you have everything required before leaving your house. Entire process took 3.5 hours start-to-finish (its still the DMV) when arriving at 7:15a. Line appeared to be a little shorter at 11a.

I came to do driver license and wait for 3 hours to get inside. The official website said I need to show 4 groups of document which is A,B,C and D. And one document can uses more than one group. My passport was expired and I prepare another document to show instead but the supervisor did not let me do anything. She not even ask my other documents and not try to help me at all. So disappointed of the services and hope no one face this situation like me.

It was a great experience!!! they adhered to all covid procedures and were very adamant about it. hearding people back and fourth keeping everyone spread out and safe. waited 2 hrs outside in 35° weather but they line constantly moved and was efficient. its the DMV, you always have to wait so that wasnt a big deal.everyone i spoke to was courteous and very helpful. Im thankful they were there to take care of business...GOD BLESS THEM ALL

Facility is efficiently run and staff is friendly.Its just extremely busy and I waited 2 hours (9am-11am).

Today i went for my car registration and number plate. Very nice and fast service. Everyone in the office was a behaving in a friendly manner and greetings.

Shame on the department! I have never seen such poor mannered and ill instructors in my life! These instructors don’t even know how to talk to people or know to show some respect. I am surprised and curious on how the HR department hires their instructors. I am wondering how can an instructor tell a person to slam on their brakes on the stop sign, I was always taught to drive as smooth as possible, brake smoothly unless it’s an emergency. This instructor tells my wife to slam the brakes, she gotta feel the jerk in order for her to pass my wife’s test.

Long slow moving line to enter the building due to Covid restrictions. Waited for 20 min in the cold before giving up and going home. Prepare for 2 hour wait outside if you require dmv services

Came at 6:30 so now it’s 8:30 really looooong line and it’s move very slow.

They are making the elderly wait in long hot lines in the parking lot. Showing no empathy to them at all. Witnessed a senior woman nearly faint and she still was made to wait outside. Total disorder. They made me go through the whole process of getting my license... then didnt have time to do the driving portion even though it would have taken a few moments and I had been waiting all day. I had to come back in the morning and they made me do each part all over again. I know that the DMV is frustrating but this staff should be ashamed. Hire more workers, get organized and let the elderly wait in a safe place.

Rediculously large lines! Been waiting in line since 7 am and it took me literally 6 hours to be done!Awful experience!.The least thing that the management couldve done was to give us a numbered ticket while we were staying in line. With that, we couldve stayed in our car rather than torturing ourselves in freezing weather.

Me and my fiance came to renew our DLs and get the Real ID. We arrived at 11:20am and at 1pm we got inside. He got out by 1:20pm and I around 1:25pm. I wonder how its gonna be in the winter. They should start making appointments. We live in 21st century come on.

Staff was friendly and helpful , line was long but they were verifying document outside so that helps if you missed anything.Also inside it was organise and social distancing was maintained.reached 6.45 - inside building at 8.20 , 8.40 done with office work and in sometime was in que for road test

They should have online appointments. Waiting time is crazy. You have to stand in sun for straight 3 hours.

Had an incredible experience. Arrived late and they had decided to close early due to the work load related to reopening after the pandemic but they allowed me to do atleast the paper work and written test. Incredibly helpful and courteous staff. You guys were all awesome

It took 3 hrs in line to even get close to the door. Theyre letting 5people in at a time. All i needed to do was take my motorcycle driving course and there was literally 1 motorcycle being tested the entire time! What a joke!

Although waiting in line during the pandemic took awhile, once inside, everything moved quickly and all staff were very friendly and helpful!

Worst experience I have ever felt for the first time living three years in the United States Of America. The road test examiner cannot respect the driver and himself. Once a passenger(whoever) sits in the car, the passenger has to respect the driver and himself. Giving respectfulness and confidence gives encouragement to the driver and helps to concentrate. In my particular situation, the road test examiner had bossed me around and spoken high toned voice. I do not know how this place runs, but many people who work in there cannot communicate well to those who are being called foreigners. At last, thank you for judging my english.

Maybe it’s COVID, but it is almost unimaginably slow. Arrive at 6am to be maybe 50th in line. Show up at 7:30 and you will be a mile away. And the line moves slower than any line you have ever been in. Go somewhere else

I arrived to do my road test and there was long line. After getting to the first lady she dismissed me saying they are not doing any road tests anymore for the day. I told her that Ive been waiting for this whole time with my newborn and I cant do this again tomorrow... she told me to speak with the manager, the manager let me do the test that day.When I went to do the test, the guy checking the insurance told me that since its a rental Im supposed to be on the rental agreement so he told me that we can go get that and come back. So we did... It was a very long day but I felt that some of the staff were actually trying to help. Others are dealing with huge amount of people and may seem rude.

Worst staff. They treated me so badly. They gave me a number and said me to wait there . I waited for three hours and in the end the time was finished I was only left there. Then they asked me do you have token number I said yes. Then they said, we already showed up this no on screen you missed it. I felt too much angry because they were lieing I was sitting there continuously and they mf didnt showed up that no . Then he have just 5 minutes to complete my written test for driving license. They are so arrogant and dont do their job.but when I told all this to their head he talked so rudely with me. I used to think people of usa are very friendly and open minded but I was wrong this country is full of racists. I dont wanna be here anymore. And this thing also made me racist like them to hate each others

Very easy road test but be prepared to spend up to 3 hrs there🙈 There are always many people and the waiting time is long.
