If you didnt get into a selective enrollment and are too scared to go to any other high school, then this is for you! Complete with leftovers from other, more important, schools, sports teams that almost win championships, and staff that could not get a job anywhere else. Top of the line CPS education.

Number 15. Taft high school. The last thing you would want is to go to a horrifying, and scary place like this. the school seems good and nice students or maybe there demons of the anti Christ. Please comment what you guys think those animal looking things are.

I am so in love with Taft! I love how much the attendance office makes sure youre getting to school on time. I love the way all my teachers are really actually helping me after school or even before! The lunch is pretty decent. The security is on deck so dont worry about that! The bathrooms are always clean in the morning when I arrive so I can check or even fix myself up! But during the day kids tend to smoke in the bathroom but it doesnt affect me because I dont use public bathrooms unless its a fashion emergency or a personal emergency! I love the huge foot ball field in warm weather you can go out and play after school if its not occupied. Id recommend joining ASM (After School Matters) ITS GREAT! I do Improv and its the best thing you could ever join! I had to go here from my other school now let me tell you my old school SUCKS compared to Taft. TAFT IS THE BEST CHICAGO PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL EVER!!! SEND YOUR KIDS HERE THEY WILL BE PLEASED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And this is 1st year here and I am a Junior so I know a good high school when I see it!

Im a current freshman attending Taft High School, and its safe to say that the school isnt that bad of a school after all. It has some good attributes, like how the teachers challenge you with subjects like Science, Math, World Language, English, etc. It also has a lot of extracurricular activities, so it gives the students more opportunities to try out for stuff. They also let you wear jeans with you mandatory school attire. Its a nice change from wearing the blue polo shirt and the black Dickie pants that we were forced to wear during our elementary school years. Even though the school has its good stuff, it also has its bad stuff. Like students smoking in the bathroom. We cant go in the bathroom without smelling the unbearable stench of smoke and nicotine. The school is not that clean, either. People inconsiderately throw garbage on the floor or spit nasty remnants of food in the water fountain. Its disgusting. The cafeteria also doesnt have a variety of foods. Everyday, its the same thing: Pizza or Chicken Sandwiches. Theyre good to eat sometimes, but I dont want to eat the same thing everyday for lunch. Then theres the security guards, who pretty much half-ass their jobs. For example, they let everyone in the lunch room, but they dont really bother to check the IDs around the students necks to see if they have this lunch period. That pisses me off. Well, thats it for my review of the school. Its an okay school, and I recommend for some parents, even.

I like this school. Some people and teachers are nice and will help you with any issues, while other are not. most are, though. This is a great school with little to no gang activity/drugs/guns, unlike most rumors think.

Excellent school where teachers really care about how the students achieve. The music department is excellent! Now an arts magnet school, this is an awesome place to send your students that are interested and talented in music.

I graduated the academic center this year and I was a transfer student into the 8th grade. Everyone was super accepting and nice and I would be glad to stay here for another four years but Im going to a different high school. The best thing about 8th grade was the Washington DC trip if you have the chance you have to go.

At Taft, to be honest, I dont really like a lot of people. Like I hate most everyone, but here at Taft I dont completely hate /everyone/. I actually found a really close group of friends that I would never abandon. The teachers are really cool and are a lot better than the ones at my old school.

The teachers are excellent and patient. Its your average suburban school with lots of opportunities and advanced programs. Some students really take advantage of the opportunities as they should. Others dont. Its pretty much like every High School movie youve ever seen: layabouts? bathroom smoking? Rock and Roll High School? not interested? Fast Times at Ridgemont High? cliquish? Grease? and yeah a little bit Pretty in Pink and Breakfast Club. But not a lot of fights, though the usual amount of bullying in any high school. HOWEVER-The teachers are truly wonderful, the green space is huge, lots of great programs like Gallery 37, Drama, Choir, Languages, and Sports. The students are pretty typical NW side. A lot like Elmwood Park Oak Park experience. Lots of unregulated street parking for teens.

Taft is a really good school... the students are nice, the teachers are helpful, everyone is encouraging... It is a school you should try to attend.

I really like being at Taft, it really helps you better prepare for the life ahead of you. It also allows you to experience different things, and gives you different opportunities.

I don’t like the crusty ol teachers, but some are cool, I think Mr.Niebuem deserves a raise

Im an ackie and Im graduating in a couple of days. Taft is a good school. They renovated everything, so its not as dirty anymore. I got bullied a bit at the beginning of the year in 7th grade, but I made friends and I stood up for myself. Based on what I heard, the ac environment is more accepting than at Lane, Whitney Young etc. The teachers care about you and want you to learn more, even if they can be unbearable sometimes. Im not staying here, but I will always remember my experiences here at Taft!!!! Go Eagles!!!

Better than it was 15 years ago. like wayyy better. grishaber the principal changed everything since hes been principal at this school. im a junior currently and its not bad

The school sucks, its dirty, staff is terrible, and teachers dont know how to teach at all. The head of security is fat as a whale and that cant even walk to the 3rd floor. I literally feel unsafe when I go there. You cant even use the bathrooms because of the smokers and pointless security that just talk together. Its just bad.

This is a great school my friend goes there and she loves it!

I was a student at Taft from 1996 to 2001. Im not sure if there has been any changes to the school since my timeframe being a student there but though it took me a while to graduate i had to struggle with other kids that caused me into being in the wrong path and getting into trouble with these kids at this school. And from the looks at it from another family member that is currently at taft it appears that taft high is still the same ghetto school like it has always been when i was there. From being tardy to getting suspended and detention this high school brings me back to my years here.

I have been here for 2 years, they have a nice IB program and AVID. The teachers are friendly and Mr. Greshaber had helped a lot.

I hate this god forsaken SCHOOL! i get bullied and im in synergy!!! how could they. im in a senior class and they call me grapes and bully me! i cant take it anymore!! screw this school its worse then steinmets!

My 7th grade year i was miserable but after making friends i began to love taft. its great how i get a look at highschool so then im prepared for my freshman year.

I like Taft a lot and dont regret coming here.
