Awesome gym. Instructors really want to see you learn and will push you. I used to go to a commercial boxing gym and those instructors teach because its their job. The instructors here are people who have dedicated their lives to the sport so you know youre learning from the best. Fantastic workout and friendly environment.

At first, its a gym and a good workout. Over time, it becomes a community of friends and a place where you feel at home. I came in with no martial experience and now Im sucking a little less at it. Being part of the gym also exposes you to people from all walks of life. Its a wonderful learning experience that not only builds fitness, but also character, good eating habits, and lots of shin bruises.

I had a fantastic time while at Chicago Muay Thai Kickboxing Club. I was a regular going 3-4 times a week. A great workout that gives you real world experience in Self- Defense. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a group workout session. The instructors are their to push you but not belittle you and that goes the same for the people attending the classes as well. You need to go!!

I signed up two months ago, had zero experience in martial arts, no sense of community since I just moved to the states from Saudi Arabia. I weighed 183lbs and always struggled with weight cause I have hypothyroidism, I also battled asthma as a kid and lived a childhood devoid of physical activity. Didn’t even walk much, we drove everywhere back home. Now I weigh 152lbs, my body composition, flexibility, agility and fitness level are getting better by the day. I’m learning new skills and perfecting my techniques 6 days a week with amazing trainers and members alike. I’m not only getting in shape, I’m having fun doing it, while being surrounded by a great community.

I tried this class using my Metabody fitness pass. I am not an out of shape person and this class was extremely physically demanding for me. I liked that while we were taught the focus was always on having a good technique. I thought this class was more for self defense but its not. This is a great class for anyone looking for an intense workout with a long term commitment as you wont reach your goal after a few classes. I felt the instructor was very knowledgeable and while he was firm he was also very personable.

I went to a trial class and was immediately hooked! I needed a stress reliever in a non-judgemental professional environment. Its an awesome workout, you really do sweat here :) I was a beginner and felt very welcome and encouraged by the staff. An added bonus is these are REAL Muay Thai fighters who are willing to teach you their skills. Theyve outgrown their space in Portage park, but are opening a new location just down the street.

I love this place!!! The instructors are professional and fun to practice with. I feel stronger after each sessions. I think that Brian and Riot are WONDERFUL instructors. They make the sessions effective and make me feel very comfortable. If I had more time, I would take more classes throughout the week. Jim, make the environment very welcoming and he is a very laid back personality, which definitely make a differences in helping people learn and have more confident. The MMA classes add a wonderful supplement to my fitness routine. I think more women should give this a try, it may seem intimidating at first but I promise you that the place cultivate that fear into strength.I look forward to growing and learning more at Chicago Muay Thai Kickboxing Club. Keep up the GREAT work!

Large, friendly facility with good hands-on instruction. Classes appear to be comprised of a nice mix of men and women, young and not-so-young. There seems to be more than enough equipment for all participants, which is nice if you dont have your own or come from a different style of martial arts.

Ive working out at this place since it used to be on Belmont. Great no frills work out, for people who are not there to try to impress others at the gym. I go to the 5am bootcamp with April, she kicks my husbands and my butt every morning. I am always very glad when it is over. Also its great to keep seeing the same people in your class. It makes it a family like atmosphere that keeps you motivated.

Get ready to sweat. I was going 3x/week, and after every class, I was drenched and exhausted. Even if you have no desire at all to fight, the classes will give you a full body workout, and you cant ask for better people to train with. Everyone here is encouraging and Jim wont hesitate to help improve your technique. Brian is a former professional MMA fighter who will drill with you and answer any questions you might have. Get in and get a great workout and meet some really cool people who share your desire to improve.

While at the Muay Thai Kickboxing Club, I had an intense workout. The instructor was set on ensuring that everyone in the class was doing everything with the proper form. They have plenty of equipment so you dont have to spend too much if you simply want to try the classes. Overall great place. Im definitely going back. The only drawback is that I am a broke college student but I would love to frequent the Muay Thai Kickboxing Club once I have a steady job.

Its a good gym and the coaches know what theyre doing, but 2 things:1) this place is way too overpriced, just for Muay Thai Its a ripoff. No student discounts or anything.2) The gloves and pads at this gym smell god awful, they never clean them. There are many gyms in Chicago that clean the pads and the inside of the gloves 2x a day, but there a also a lot of other gyms that do not do this. It leaves your hands smelling awful and make you feel just disgusting.

As a beginner coming from France, I have trained for 9 months at Chicago Muay Thai Kickboxing Club. I had a great time there. The work-outs were intense, the instructors really engaging and I met friendly American people there, always trying to lift you up. I strongly recommend the gym. I really think that this is the ideal place to discover muay thai in a respectful way, and to stay in good shape!

Its a great place to workout and learn some self defense, but the reason i cant come back or recommend this place is because it smells so strongly of sweat. Honestly, its disgusting, and the smell smacks you like a spin punch to the chops. Ive been to similar gyms, and none of them had this problem, so i dont know why this issue is so pervasive here.

I had an awesome time when I was at Chicago Muay Thai Boxing. Excellent instructors, kick-ass routines (no pun intended). The focus was not your usual cardio exercise but truly learning the fundamentals. Which meant drills, drills, and more drills. I loved the sparring sessions which were sometimes ad-hoc at the end of class.

CMTKC is the most dedicated and disciplined gym Ive worked at. I started going to this gym almost 3 years ago as part of my venturing out to learn something new - best decision Ive made! Not only have I gotten in shape but I have become more confident in myself and learned to work with others on a physical level. You can find a teacher there that will click with your way of learning things and thats a beautiful thing! Very happy to have a gym where I can continue to push myself in a safe environment.

I attended about seven Muay Thai kickboxing classes through a Groupon. All of the instructors were very helpful and engaging and gave much needed assistance to newbies like myself. They are very good about providing different exercises based on your level of experience, so while some of the class was doing basic moves, the more experienced members were able to spar. The class is very physically demanding depending on what types of moves you are working on that day. It always starts out with a good warm-up that usually incorporates some cardio such as jump rope and then some basic exercises like jumping jacks, push ups, burpies. Then they get into a designated area to work on such as jabs, kicks, elbows, or knees. I always felt like I was learning something new at every class. The studio was nice, although the changing rooms could use some updating. Class sizes ranged from 4 people to about 8 or 10. It never felt too full and I was always able to receive the right amount of personal attention.I highly recommend this place, especially for the kickboxing classes. Im hoping to return and get a membership after the new year.

A friend and I bought a groupon for ten kickboxing classes. When we got there, they would not honor the groupon because we were not at the Evanston location. (The groupon website clearly said the kickboxing classes could be taken at either location.) They offered us one free class anyways. The teacher was friendly enough, but way more focused on perfecting little techniques than giving you a good workout. At the end of the class, I realized my brand new water bottle was stolen. One of the employees told us that sometimes, possessions were stolen from the gym. I do not recommend.

I got a Groupon for 10 classes and I didnt have any experience beforehand, but the two instructors I have had have both been really accommodating and helpful in bringing me up to speed. Not to mention my classmates have also been helpful. The classes themselves can be really challenging, but afterwards you feel like youve gotten a great workout while learning muay thai. If you are interested in muay thai in Chicago I would recommend the Evanston location, which is where I have gone, but I have heard the Chicago locations is great as well!

I have tried different classes at different level, everyone is very friendly. Bryan is a MMA champion and was very good in teaching very cardio class. They also have a great female instructor who actually trained in Thailand.Great place to go for MMA and Muay thai.
