We have had an amazing experience with RMCA. Very high standards and values, parents involvement is welcome and encouraged. Middle school is mostly separated from elementary. Most of the poor reviews posted here are from children that used to attend, but every child and parent I have spoken with are thrilled with RMCA.

This is a horrible environment that I wouldnt wish upon anyone. As a former student, Im not going to tell you about my personal experience with the participating student body, because obviously that varies by class and such. The teachers are all great, you can tell that they really care about their students. The gifted program is better than any other Ive been through, as it provides actual support as opposed to mindless tasks. The administration, however, completely ruins any positive opinion I have on this facility. Administration is a large oppressive body that does not take student or parent concerns to heart, but rather sweeps them under the rug and damage the students who place them. Instead of teaching active conversation and showing what real change/ your voice can do to your community, it shows that the person with more power will always get to have it and it will always stay that way, despite your best efforts. I would say that things may have changed, or at least I would hope, but knowing the toxic culture of Rocky Mountain Classical Academy, and knowing the patterns that have been in place for years and years, steer as far away as you can

This school has been amazing throughout the 2020-2021 school year. The staff are always helpful and caring towards my child and I’m happy we are part of the RMCA family. They have great communication between parents and teachers. This has been a tough year for students/teachers but RMCA has done an excellent job and always puts the students best interest first.

Overall experienceWe have been at RMCA for 7 years. We’ve seen a lot of staff come and go. However the teachers have always been amazing! They care about the kids and they are passionate about their jobs. The leadership is probably the best it’s been in several years. I’m thankful my kids don’t have to do common core, they teach character development, and I love that the middle school is small! My kiddos feel safe, and are happy to go to school each Day!

This school is awful! My oldest kid went there for three years and was bullied every year. My second child just started and within the first wk of school starting, my second kid was bullied. The staff does not use any common sense. The principal believes it is his job to enforce the school’s policies and not actually reflect on whether their policies abide by the law or not. Additionally, they did not let my children use umbrellas to shade themselves while waiting in the 91-94 degree sun during carpool pickup for two wks. My kids said that the staff said they could only use umbrellas for rain. It was extremely hypocritical as I watched the staff members use umbrellas in the sun. I had to call the front office so that the children could use umbrellas for shade and not just rain. The staff job proficiency is below par as they printed my picture upside down on my visitor tag. Also, they have moved locations for at least four years and the yelp site reflects an old address. I would rate them lower if I could. Many staff members and parents have left due to toxic work environment. I should have been more alert to the warning signs.

Terrible “neighbors”...the parents park and wait, blocking a lengthy stretch of Barnes Rd, including the two dedicated right turn lanes into the neighborhood, making it dangerous for residents to enter and exit the neighborhood. Called the school and instead of trying to work the issue or even acknowledge it, they didn’t give a damn, saying to call the police...fine, done.

So I was surprised by several of the comments made here that seemed very negative. One claimed that their child was discriminated against because of their support of President Trump; odd... I wear my MAGA hat almost everywhere and my child has never had an issue in what is, perhaps, one of the most Red areas in the entire country.Another claimed there was racial discrimination and insults (from teachers); odd... my children are mixed, half white/black, and have never had an issue. We are also devote Christians; my children pray before their meals and never had an issue. So this got me thinking... what issues have I had while my children have attended RMCA (going on six years)? Im sure this will shock most of you (wink, wink)…. brace yourself. Entitled... parents. Hate to break it to anyone, but the main issue Ive had in six years of my children at this school are fellow parents.Let me give examples; RMCA has a very simple and efficient carpool. That isnt enough for some entitled parents who will often drive past the line of traffic and simply pull in to drop off/pick up their kid. Why should they have to wait in line, after all? Across from the school is a neighborhood that is private property. They have signs at the entrances, Private Neighborhood, Residents Only, etc. Parents who dont want to follow the carpool rules will flood into this neighborhood to the point a Sheriffs Deputy has been called, several times over the years, to sit there to keep them out. Again, rules shouldnt apply when youre entitled.Inside the school Ive seen several belligerent and obnoxious parents. So this led me to a simple conclusion; most of the negative posts are entitled parents who didnt get their way. These are the parents who screw over everyone else and dont care about anyone but themselves; yet screech when they dont get their way. So take these One Star Reviews with a grain of salt... they arent true.Aside from a handful of communication problems Ive had with the school... its great. My daughter has issues with math; the teachers have bent over backwards, for several years, to help her. They even work with her during lunch period recess to help her understand... BRAVO to those teachers, thank you! Most of the issues Ive seen have been parents. If you got this far, congrats, you deserve a sticker!

This school is unprofessional and only concentrates on what they Have to do they dont interact well with the children and are always yelling....there is no organization what so ever. If your child has any difficulties they are rude and not helpful. They are so concerned about fire drills and insistent you cant pick up your child for Saftey reasons however if your child hurts themselves on the playground and is bleeding they dont send them to the nurse! Amongst many other unprofessional situations I have encountered I would NEVER recommend this school to anyone.

I loved this school since 3rd grade till about 7th. The junior high portion of this school is the absolute worst because of the staff. I loved my teachers every year until we moved buildings. They became selfish and extremely disrespectful. Most of The rules were extremely pointless My English teacher in 6th grade was hands down amazing. PE teacher was great. My 8th grade math teacher, history teacher, and English teacher were amazing They just need to find teachers who will help. Not make the students feel stressed and helpless

COMMERCIALS ARE MISLEADING. Looks like a good charter school but it isnt. I went there a few years ago, very unproffesional and unorganized, racist and straight rude, telling kids they are the reason for their parents divorce, telling a mexican theyll make him do landscaping like the rest and so much more. Lie to their own staff, fire them out of the blue, even locked one out and told her to never come back. A certain teacher that still works their forcing students to do work even if they arent having the best day at all, like a grown man actually getting mad at kids for slacking a bit. Only good thing about RMCA is Mr. Strain, they fired the other good ones. Dont bring your kid here unless you want a poor environment where they are mistreated. edit: thanks for all of the likes

Review №32

Welp... Time to get started I guess. RMCA is pretty bad. Our teachers dont resemble the proper teaching skills toward their students. The lessons not understandable, and just confusing in general for a large fraction of the students. The teachers at this school just keep going on lessons and do not follow the terms of how students are doing. One thing here as well is GT (gifted and talented) I would describe it is the ruin your self esteem club. It gives no oppurtunity for people with good grades. Just the ones with big egos.Another thing I would like to point out is they dont give us the time to get our supplies ready for class. They act as we are kindergarteners and do a countdown from 10 for us to grab supplies. After that start of class the teachers have no trust in their students whatsoever to stay on task and not giving us the chance of this responsibility. Multiple teachers even admited this during class. This means no hands on activities at all; and it is just talk all class. It doesnt let you get the hang of things. After class. I know multiple people have said this but the amount of homework is unsustainable. Into one specific class I would like to point out is order class. Everyone has one and it is basically home room. They let certain students the kids elected basically be a teacher. The class is about 25 minutes so it is quite short. But the order teachers comepletely get things out of control because obviously lots of students wont take order from someone on the same level as them. Now that I am out of the class section... I would like to get into the lunchroom. On Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays we have yo sit in our order classes. Im fine with that I have a few friends in my order and its an a okay. But when not sitting in orders everyone sits where ever they want. No one has a place to sit because you have to get there in a matter of miliseconds if you wanna sit. Not promoting order sit because I would like to be free to sit with friends. But put a little control. Also the school lunches are the worst meals you will ever find they look like a mix of a deadly disease and leather. I am not exaggerating at all. A couple years ago people were harmonized in the lunchroom. Thats all about lunch. Next topic is the lack of justice in this school. People suspended for no reason along with detention and more things. Admin involve other students in not needed affairs and drama. Lastly now they extended school hours by a while and I thought it was a long day before... Also speaking of admin. They do nothing but walk down hallways from time to time in their suits. They dont do anything for the school but work on their ego. A couple more things and thats about it. Lastly the nursing staff is terrible they do no care towards students and send them back to class even after vomiting and/or having fever.PS: I miss the old campus of this school. Things were in harmony and there were no problems such as these and bullying. Those were the days when this place was a good school.I could go into even more details but I think you get the jist of it. So thats about it... I do not reccomend this school what so ever. Not a school of character.-Anonymous 8th grader

My daughter has gone to RMCA since she was in 2nd grade. She was in another charter school for Kindergarten and 1st grade. Once we transferred to RMCA within a few months we saw the quality difference. RMCA has allowed our daughter to grow in ways her father and I never thought possible. She has been in the Gifted and Talented program for a few years now. The teachers are amazing and truly challenge our daughter to be her best at all her studies. Our daughter has also participated in the schools athletic program. Through their wonderful after school programs our daughter has found a love for Volleyball and since moved into a competitive league! Our family is truly blessed to have found RMCA! We love the school, the admin staff, and all the students who go to this family friendly school!

I loved 1st grade up to 3rd but in 4th the teacher I had changed after we changed buildings. Everybody got even more rude then they already were and the school stopped teaching me what I needed to be taught. They held me back when in reality I was advanced and could answer almost all the questions in 1 minute flat. They didnt care about if you cried or not. And the school was horrible. I left the school and the school Im at now actually knows how to teach people properly and understand humans. Im so glad I left that school. My best friend stayed for an extra year and she said the teachers got even worse and that she hated it. She did not want to be there at all and now she is about to come to my school. We went to D.C last year with my school and it was so much cheaper then it would have been at R.M.C.A everyone from 4th to 8th got to go to D.C whilst at RMCA not that many people got to go. My school treats everyone so much better and I highly reccomend not sending your child here the kids are extremely rude and will cause harm to them. If your kids start having depression or getting serious anxiety know its most likely because of the school because they dont give a crap about you or your feelings. I hate that school and I wouldnt go back for 1 million dollars. Dont send your kids there for the sake of them and you.
