We love this school! My kids have thrived here without common core and all of the teachers they have had the past 2 years have been fantastic. My only complaint would be the pickup line after school but thats mostly on the parents who dont read how it works. All of the front staff and staff upstairs have been accommodating and friendly. I am so thankful we found this school. Most of the bad reviews are from when this school was new and figuring things out. Give it a chance!

I like working here myself. It is low on gossip, low on back-biting, and high on encouragement and education. Like other schools, we have our negative students, parents, teachers, and bad moments, but we get great reviews on our opinion surveys from employees and parents. Word of mouth has really grown our school the past 2 years. Im very proud to be a part of the CMA men and women who work here.

This is by far the best school in Colorado Spring. My kids love school, they feel motivated, energetic, and they are learning above what the average kids learn in schools.Teachers are very respectful and knowledgeable. The school is managed by military retires, they offer this unique military environment, training similar to West Point.I cannot emphasize just to say thanks for all the hard work they are putting in our kids, our future, and America future.

My son attended the 2018 / 19 school year. He has improved greatly over the year because of the guidance a caring teacher. Never had a problem with the Administration or any of the other teachers. I do wish the kids were allowed to play on the playground first thing in the morning to get some of those morning Jitters out. Sometimes recess was taken away from the whole group due to one persons actions and I dont like that. Kids shouldnt have recess taken away. They absolutely need that time. I believe their play time is just as critical as their educational time. Other than that we had a good experience.

This school is VERY unorganized, unprofessional and unacceptable! They were definitely not prepared to open up this year and I am VERY disappointed that I enrolled my child in CMA after having such high expectations for them and heres why:1. My kid ran out of lunch money so they refused to let him eat or call me to bring him some then had the nerve to hand him a brochure on how to load money on his account. (My child cried and came home starving)2. The child care director uses profanity and belittles/yells at the children. She tells the kids that they are pissing her off, told another parent when I was not present that my child needed to be tamed, told me that she was on her 3rd bottle of wine for the week because of the kids, said the word BS in front of them and was over heard talking about kicking someone in the nuts. Ive called multiple times and left messages but still have yet to hear back or see anything done about it as she is still working there.3. 1 1/2 month into the school year, I receive an email stating that my childs teacher doesnt even have a Colorado Teaching License.4. It is now October and the cafeteria just got its equipment to serve hot lunch. Also, they serve toddler like portions. Animal crackers, yogurt and a cheese stick is NOT enough to fill up my almost middle school aged child. (Dont believe me, look at the school menu online) One day while eating with my kid, I asked his friends about the food and they said they were ALWAYS still hungry after lunch.5. They dont have a playground yet so the kids play in the parking lot for recess.6. My child has NEVER received a failing grade until attending this school and when I emailed to scheduled a time to meet with his teacher, I was told email works best.7. My child got a busted lip and had to go to the nurse twice and I didnt receive one phone call to notify me of what happened.8. A staff member told me that due to their lack of funding they were shorted on their checks and expected to work at a minimal rate until they figured things out. As a result a few teachers have already quit.9. They send out an email every month telling parents to apply for free/reduced lunch even if we know we wont qualify just so they receive additional funding.10. A staff member told me that no background checks were conducted on teachers prior to the start of the year and that degrees were never verified.11. On my kids last day of school before I transferred him they made him stay in the office the whole day, never called to notify me and did not let him go to the dance after school so when my husband picked him up he was in tears since he didnt get to say bye to his friends.12. Birth certificates and immunization records were never verified. When I brought it to their attention they said legally they were still within the window to check them.13. My kid told me the music teacher stepped on a childs hand on purpose and made him cry because he was touching something that didnt belong to him. Then when another child was going to touch it, he said, you want me to step on your hand too.14. A staff member told me a teacher threw something at a child once for not listening.15. They never follow up with you, return phone calls, or inform you on whats going with your child.16. They refused to return the rest of my childs school supplies stating that they are community items even though I paid for them less than 2 months ago and had everything labeled. They werent cheap either seeing as how they requested brand name items, headphones, printer paper etc...The list could go on and on...What they are doing should be against the law. Id hate for anyone to have to go through what we are seeing as how we have had to come out of pocket lots of money, wasted tons of time, undue stress etc...I will be notifying the Board of Directors, the District, the Charter Institute and the news if I have too because this is just wrong.

I joined halfway through the school year. It took a long time to tell teachers about my 504 plan. Theres a huge bullying, theiviery, and coordination issue. Teachers left during the year almost on a monthly basis and subs were all too common. I dont plan on returning especially after Civil Air Patrol is going to be made mandatory for high school. Update: I did return to CMA this year, it was even worse. Teachers had left in droves by October. Students had been suspended up to 3 times. Admin did nothing but love them a talking to. If you dont want to send your kid to a school with the reform kids, dont send them here.

The worst Charter school I have ever seen. Horrible with communication, they could care less about their middle schoolers and think these kids are already adults. They lie a lot so don’t believe any of their promises. The kids ate kindergarten size snacks for lunch for the first 2 months of school and would call crying about how hungry they are. If you advocate for your child they will target your child. The vice principal Mr. Velazquez is the worst of them all. The school is highly unorganized and severely lack integrity and responsibility. They are even know for becoming verbally abusive towards the kids in their classrooms and will put your kid in someone else’s car. Half the time they don’t even know where half the kids are because as they stated it’s not their responsibility even when the little one are on their property. Stay away from this school. They smile and do a lot of fake publicity to build their name up but it’s all a facade. It’s always about the adults during assemblies as we are forced to leave our work to sit through assemblies that don’t have anything to do with the children or school until 5 minutes before the assembly is over. What a waste of time. I had high hopes for the school but like many other parents am really getting to see the reality of its value. I would highly discourage you from signing up especially for middle school and high school. Your kid will have a very high risk of getting hit by a car or kidnapped especially with all the sex offenders listed around the school. Horrible horrible school that should be shut down because it is an absolute disgrace and embarrassment to the United States Military.

Hi, my son is in kinder at this school. I would like to share my experience. I want to say first off I love his teachers Ms. Mallory and her assistant Ms. Gomez. They listen to the kids and help them as best as they can. They do great in communicating with me. As I do with them. I think communicating with their teachers is the best we can do for our kids. They help us with figuring what our child needs to work on. Communication goes both ways. Because as parents we know our kids, we may know something that will help the child that the teacher does not. I hope my youngest son will get to be with Ms. Mallory and Ms. Gomez when he starts kinder. I also like that they have capoeira. A lot of kids benefit from that program. We have kids who are shy but come out of their shell. We have kids who have been to the principals office but have not really visited it since capoeira. Having activities in school helps these kids keep busy and out of trouble for the most part. I absolutely also love the lady’s in the front they are friendly and personable. Now just because I love those things it does not mean I love the school. I was told kinder would be able to learn Spanish which my son really wants to do. Come to find out that kinder will not be learning Spanish. Only way for my son to learn it is Ms. Gomez and looking on Google. I think kids should be starting marching in kinder. That would help with some discipline. They also need to have these kids playing on a play ground before class. These kids have a lot of energy they need to get out a bit before class hopefully they go back into a class room ready to learn instead of being so pent up with energy they disrupt class. The fact they expect kinders to be so advanced when they first start. Some barley know how to write or know letters or numbers. I hate that they like other schools teach to the test not the kid. And tests are not all that accurate. Youd think schools would learn that by now. They need to have occasional days where they have like spirit days or something to get the kids something to be excited about. It helps build moral. These kids work hard whats wrong with a few fun days. Also hate common core. I am also not a fan of community supplies. I want to buy something for my kid. So he can get excited. Some of us do not make enough to buy for the whole class. Not only that but kids put their mouths on everything. Makes it so easy to help pass germs. I do not mind helping the class room but do it in a better way. let my kid enjoy something he picked out and be excited to learn with something that may make him happy. Same goes for the other kids. People are upset with this school some rightly so. This is a new business. They have more bumps in the road to over come. Teachers need more pay I feel. Some of these teachers should not be teachers. You will have many of those in any profession sadly. As parents we need to be as invested as best as we can. And same goes for the teachers. We are teaching the kids to be a productive member of society. these kids will one day be making decisions for this country. Some people do not think about it that way. I am unsure if I will have my kid in this school next year. I think this school has a great concept but they still have a lot to work on. I am not so sure I want them to work on it at my childs educational expense. I am glad I tried the school and glad he had his teachers this year. Thank you for taking the time to read please have a beautiful day.

Im not usually one to give a review let alone a bad one but it is well deserved, I pulled my kids out of a good school thinking they were going into a better one, and well that was a big mistake. My kids arent 100% perfect (which is not the reason I put them here) but they arent bad either. Every child has a few bumps they hit but this school... All three of my kids were having a lot of issues and wasnt like this at all last yr or previous years.. We were waiting a little while to pull them out until today... They cant even keep teachers, combining 3 1st grade classes, another teacher getting in oldest childs face, and 1st graders getting in trouble bc for the first time this school yr i only could find white socks! Today topped it off when I got a call from the school saying they suspended my 7 yr old who has adhd and poss slight autism. They made him walk 5 laps bc he was hyper and then he was talking to a kid and he said he frigin walked 5 laps. The kid he was talking to apparently told a teacher (who did not hear kolt) he said the f word. Now i do not tolerate my kids cussing or even saying words that sound like cussing but taking another childs word over his and suspending him when it was his first time being in trouble and he is even on A B HR! Didnt even give him a chance, just suspended him like that. I strongly recommend not bringing your child here and I wouldnt be suprised if they close down soon.

*************** PART ONE ***************The new “Enforcer” aka primary elementary principal Mrs. Kristin Trezise, whom can actually be compared to Mrs. Trunchbull from the 1996 movie “Matilda”; is a monster. There is nothing wrong with structure and discipline. I served honorably in the military (retired combat veteran) and can relate, however, our children still need to be children. Unless we knowingly enrolled them in a disciplinary school. I wasn’t made aware that CMA was taking the militant route when I enrolled my son. It was supposed to be a free thinking STEM school. CMA wasn’t slotted as a disciplinary school. If it had been promoted as such, we wouldn’t have even considered it as an option. She’s (Trezise) going as far as taking away birthday parties, holiday celebrations, and telling her staff that our children are just paychecks for their school to grow. She’s demanding that our children keep their mouths shut and complete the task at hand. I get it, kids need to leave playtime at the playground, but when you have a first grader talking in line; does that constitute a visit to the principals office? I don’t think so. My child is her future. Our children are our future. She mentioned that if she is to enter a classroom, instruction must be halted to honor her presence and the children must be polite and award her excellence, then honor her as she exits the room. For most of us veterans, this is the norm when our commanding officer enters an area, not an elementary school principal of a NON-disciplinary school. If she wants to be treated like an officer or some kind of royalty, she should’ve joined the military and instilled discipline to our Armed Forces, but I guess picking on kids is easier.I understand that the Air Force had some hand in creating this sorry excuse for a school, but if they wanted to make it a charter military school, they should’ve ran with that. But instead they lied to all the parents last year, saying they were progressive and that our children were going to be able to freely express themselves, all while learning the most modern and advanced curriculum; STEM.That didn’t happen. My son got one hour out of the school week to have some old guy spit and yell at him and the other kids, all while “teaching” them this “STEM” curriculum. Almost all of the staff demean and ridicule our kids. Our kids aren’t scolded animals. To earn respect, you must first give respect. Even if it’s a child. They are human too.

*********** PART TWO ***********I can’t support a school that isn’t in it for our kids and educating them appropriately. There’s even been talks that their books are cooked for the special needs kids. They aren’t documenting and implementing the special needs kids’ Individual Education Plans (IEP), which is highly illegal. They hired a treasurer that left a Florida school because he was under investigation for laundering money from said school AND is currently pending litigation. Now there has been talk that he’s at it again AT CMA. The retired Air Force Lieutenant Colonel, Reggie Ash, who has some involvement (don’t know if he owns or is partnered with the school), has been known to say that their special education department is falling behind and that it’s illegal, but tells the staff to stay quiet about it. Fix your problem LTC, don’t be a part of it.. talk about discipline..Since when has it ever been ok to profit off of children? Our kids are not slaves to fill the pockets of corrupt schools and corrupt leadership. The entire staff at CMA should be disappointed with themselves. Most teachers and teacher’s assistants have their children enrolled in schools other than CMA. Isn’t that strange? Shouldn’t that tell the other parents that something is up? I know if I worked at a school, I’d want my kids to be enrolled in that school so I could see them everyday.I’ve held my tongue, in hopes CMA would get their act together, I’m half inclined to go to the news about the shady things that are going on behind their doors! If this doesn’t make you mad, that they are using our kids to make a profit and taking away their innocence, then you’re part of the problem too. Children only have their childhood. When we take that away from them, they become mindless robots in our already broken system.Do not put your kids in this school. And if your kids are in this school, pull them out as fast as you can. It’s a toxic environment with toxic owners, leaders, employees, you name it.

We started at the school under the impression of “resources” being available to my son. We trusted when the vice principal and teachers would say we are going to make sure it’s taken care of . We are looking into the situation ...So many people thought this academy was a reform school so the school was not prepared for half of the students being troubled children. My son who has always been a great student and on top of his work started suffering immensely when he got to this school. Not only did they not provide the adequate resources for IEP the excuses that have been given as to why no one has followed up with me are ridiculous . It’s unfortunate I couldn’t change schools right away and now my child’s education is suffering .False promises and terrible communication has still til this day been an issue. I would not recommend this school to anyone!Half the parents won’t speak up because their children are still there but it’s a known fact how unprepared this school was when it opened .Thankfully he has an amazing teacher Mr . keltner and a very patient teachers aide mrs. Shipe who have picked up where the administration has lacked and taken the time to try to and help him as much as they can.I wish again that with the number of phone calls and emails I have made that someone would have followed up.Again be weary of false promise that this “Stem Charter School” has to offer and all the “resources” that they put in their great tv commercial that we have yet to see .

This school is terrible. The music teacher Mr.White is so disrespectful to the kids. One Time he got a kid yelled in his face then sent him to the corner. Then he sent to girls out of the room for standing up straight. He also didn’t teach anything he just made the kids sing and then gives them a test that had stuff on it that he never taugght. And all of the teachers pick favorites. They fired a teacher in the middle of class and the thing is, is that she was all the kids favorite and she made sure they were not getting bullied and if the kids were having problems with others she would try and fix it. She helped a lot of kids get their grades up and she really cared and they felt the need to fire her. Then the 7th and 8th grade kids didn’t have a English for about 2 or 3 weeks. And most teachers quit. They surved lunches that were literally animal crackers and yogurt. They took the doors of the bathrooms and placed cameras all around the middle school area and some in the elementary. The stem teacher Mr.Gabler was the worst. He was yelling at the kids in the middle of the hallway while the fifth graders were taking their c mas testing. And he also cussed in front of the kids multiple times. The P.E class was in the parking lot and little kids had to play in the parking lot.
