I toured the school and didn’t end up enrolling my son but I thought I’d leave a review anyway. From what I observed, they definitely do provide structure for the children, and a good curriculum as far as I could tell. However, for the amount that you pay, very little money is actually put into the facility, the food or activities the kids are doing. They’re good at making a lot with a little if you know what I mean. One thing that really concerned me was that all the children were forced to wear masks (even though the teacher wasn’t) and that’s only a big issue because they don’t have AC in the building. It was easily 90 degrees in there and that was in May. Now that it’s actually 90 degrees outside, I hope to god they actually have air conditioning in there. The playground was overgrown with weeds too. Which I guess is a sensory type activity for them. To pull weeds lol.

My daughter has attended Northside Montessori since she was 18 months and now she is 3 1/2. I have been very pleased with the progress she has shown. We are constantly amazed when she surprises us with new knowledge. She has been introduced to art, math, geography, astronomy, culture and respect for the environment. Last night my wife was shocked and touched when she found a letter that our daughter had written to her. We didn’t even know she had started learning to write. The teachers at Northside are very knowledgeable and the director, Mrs. Pak is very helpful in helping us understand the Montessori methods. I would highly recommend this school for your child.

Our daughter attended Northside Montessori School from 19 months to 5 years old (2011-2015), including the after school program. During her time there, she grew emotionally, socially and academically, and we felt it prepared her very well for elementary school. The curriculum included all of the classic Montessori subjects, including self-care, language arts, and mathematics, as well as social studies and science. The teachers provided individualized instruction, were very attentive and nurturing, and she was allowed to learn at her own pace. She adored the head teacher and assistant teachers that she met while attending, and we still stop in to visit when we drive by. She also made lasting friendships with other students she met while attending, and we still get together for playdates. We feel that her experiences at Northside Montessori laid a strong foundation for her future school years, and we would recommend this school to other families.

Our daughter loves this school! The teachers are kind and skilled, and our daughters learning has progressed rapidly. Another reviewer commented that the teachers are rude, but that has not been our experience at all.

When my husband and I received academic positions in Columbus, we came to the area to look at schools for our daughter. Our daughter had attended a Montessori school in Charlottesville, VA and another in Spartanburg, SC, and we were hopeful that we would find a Montessori school that we liked in the Columbus area. We visited a handful of schools and found that Northside Montessori had what we wanted: high academic standards, kind teachers, an emphasis on cultural diversity, and an appreciation of the outdoors. Our daughter looks forward to going to school each day, is excelling academically, and has made lots of good friends. Im confident that we made the right choice.

Our children have had a wonderful time at Northside Montessori and they have developed so well in the process. Our daughter has just graduated from NMS Kindergarten and is going into her first grade class reading, writing, able to do multiplication, addition and subtraction. She has a great start all thanks to NMS. Our son is now also at NMS and he is also doing very well. We highly recommend Northside Montessori School.

Both of our children have had wonderful experiences at NMS. Each has not only developed academically but as well grown and matured socially. We are so very thankful for having had NMS as part of their education experience.

Our son has been here for 2 years and has grown and learned a great deal during this time. Mrs Pak creates an environment of learning and nurturing young minds in the Montessori model. We would recommend this school to anyone looking to give their toddler through kindergartner a great start academically. If they provided schooling for children older than kindergarten we would be back again next year.

We have been extremely pleased with the education and care our sons have received at Northside Montessori School over the past four years as they have attended the school from toddlerhood through kindergarten. The children receive an unparalleled amount of individual attention from the teachers in all areas of academics, giving them an immense head start in preparation for grade school. I cannot speak highly enough of the benefits of the Montessori method for fostering self-confidence, creative thinking, and respect for self, others, and the environment - qualities we have observed in both of our boys as they have grown and flourished at the school. The head teacher, Mrs. Pak, provides a caring atmosphere for the children and she does an excellent job of keeping parents informed of their childrens progress. We feel that the school itself has the close-knit feeling of a family between the teachers, children and parents, and we are very happy with our decision to send our sons here.

I am writing this review because of what my former co-worker has posted on this site; I feel both sides of the story should be told. As with any job, there will be employees who are dissatisfied and angry with their boss. That is exactly what has happened with Mrs. Jia. Mrs. Pak is a women who has dedicated her lifes work to young children and the Montessori philosophy. She knows her craft better then anyone else and can connect with children on a level beyond expectations.I sent all three of my children to this school under the care of Mrs. Pak as well as worked at the school as teacher for 2 years. I have seen first hand how she connects with children and teaches them. All three of my children now attend public education and are top in their class in math, reading/writing - something I attribute this Montessori school and the solid foundation they received there. But dont take my word for it - or for Miss. Jias. Call the school, meet Mrs. Pak, set up an appointment to take a tour. See for yourself. I know youll be as impressed as I am!

The Northside Montessori School (NMS) provides a well-balanced environment conducive to the flourishment of students emotional, intellectual, and social well-being. My oldest joined NMS for her second year of preschool and completed kindergarten this year. My youngest joined the NMS toddler class and completed his first year of preschool this year. In the past 2.5 years, both children have blossomed into well-rounded, competent kids whom embrace their own independence and positively respond to montessori principles. The classroom teacher/student ratios are ideal (lower than state requirements) which helps to promote increased attentiveness of teachers to the needs of students. This translates to your children having more opportunities to advance in the educational curriculum and behavior management. I am very pleased with how both children generally manage their emotions, interact with other children (both known and unknown), and excel in their academics. I frequently recommend NMS to family, friends, and strangers. I would encourage anyone looking for a great preschool/kindergarten to tour NMS and observe class. Youll be impressed with circle time activities, the manner in which students conduct themselves, and the thought-provoking curriculum. NMS truly embodies montessori methods as every activity deliberately incorporates combinations of montessori principles to the benefit of its students.

I have two children that have attended this school and have loved it tremendously! My son attended for a total of three years; two years as preschooler and one year as kindergartener. He is now in 1st grade at public schools and is in the top of his class in math and reading. His 1st grade teacher said she will recommend him for the advanced placement program at school. My daughter is currently in her third year at Northside Montessori school as a kindergartener and is thriving there as well! She can read extremely well and her math {ie. counting, addition & subtraction} are far exceed the states requirements.I attribute my childrens academic success to Northside Montessori and the amazing school run by Soon-Ma Pak. My husband & I will not hesitate to send our third child there in the upcoming years.

My son attended Northside Montessori for 5 years, from 17 months to 6 years old. It was an excellent environment for him - structured yet nurturing. The teacher Ms Pak is well-versed in Montessori teaching and has created an environment that is modeled under that method. Each child has access to whatever activities they are drawn to for that day, and the mixing of ages (6 mos to 3 in one room and 3 to 6 in the other room) allows children to learn from and teach each other. Our son attended school from 8 am - 5 pm, going to aftercare with Mr. Pak. Im writing this review because I just read the other review with allegations of child abuse. Mr. Pak was like a grandfather to our son who never felt threatened by or fearful of Mr. Pak. Its hard to imagine him hitting a child, my son never complained or gave any indication that he was harmed at that school, ever. We even go back once in a while to visit and our son runs to give Mr. Pak a hug. Im not saying it didnt happen because who knows. But I am saying that I had a completely different experience than the other reviewer. The only reason this isnt 5 stars is my husband had issues communicating with Ms. Pak. He felt she was dismissive of his ideas and didnt really take his questions seriously. I didnt have that same experience, but she is an older teacher with many years running her own school. There is a general sense that shes going to teach her class her way, and if you dont like it you can leave. Im okay with that, but I can see it rubbing people the wrong way. At the end of the day I care about results, and my son was confident, happy, loved and reading by the time he was 4. I would definitely recommend this school.
