I am currently beginning my Aikido journey. It is about staying centered in an ever changing world. I am finding balance, strength, commitment and energy that I have been searching for. I am finding friends I didnt realize I needed, and mentors that I needed, but didnt expect to find. For anyone looking for these things, I would highly recommend Abiding Spirit. Oh, and its exercise both physical and mental! A great benefit!

Ive been a student here for about 4 four months now and Ive been thrilled with the experience. The instructors are talented and thankfully very patient, making learning the skills a real pleasure. Its a beautiful facility and definitely worth checking out if you are interested in martial arts, acupuncture, or even just looking for a fun workout.

I have been practicing Aikido at Abiding Spirit for a month now and my experience has been awesome. It is rare to find a place that has Senseis that have a deeper understanding of how to train body and souls. It is Challenging and peaceful at the same time. Ive been an acupuncture patient at the Abiding Spirit Center for 5 years now and highly recommend them! Michelle and Lisa are friendly, compassionate, understanding, and knowledgeable in their field. I have been a student of Aikido here for over 6 years. Although I have recently relocated out of the country, I still consider myself a student here. Training in Aikido is intense, with a focus towards the overall physical, mental and spiritual development of the student. For people seeking other avenues to explore, try the yoga and meditation classes.I have also taken treatments at the Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine clinic for over 5 years and have seen a marked improvement in my sciatic condition.

The Abiding Spirit Chief Instructor spent more than a decade in Japan studying Aikido under the direct supervision of this martial arts most renowned experts. This foundation, in turn, has allowed her to build a word-class school in Illinois.

I attended a trial Aikido class and was extremely impressed with the instructors, as well as the positive atmosphere that surrounded the dojo.If you have ever thought about trying out a self-defense class, I would highly recommend the Abiding Spirit Center. Within minutes, I felt very welcomed into the dojo and even after the class ended, the instructors answered various questions I had for almost 45 minutes. I signed up for classes shortly after!

Ive been coming to this wonderful dojo for Aikido on and off for almost four years and theyve been nothing but welcoming and kind to me. Despite my very limited schedule I cant seem to stay away due to the great people and the awesome and unique training that the Instructors offer here. Abiding Spirit Center is a wonderful place to study Aikido. The instructors are very skilled, knowledgeable, and welcoming. I find the senior students to be extremely helpful and patient as well. Everyone delivers clear, constructive criticism, and plenty of encouragement!While their instruction is very disciplined, Lisa and Michelle have been very flexible with my schedule. I am permitted to come to as many or as few classes a week as I can manage. No class is off limits. In fact, I was encouraged to attend an advanced class. This not only provided some amazing perspective as to my potential future with Aikido, but also allowed the senior students to perfect their techniques by breaking down each step for me.Though I have only just begun, I leave each class feeling as though I have learned something valuable. I can see myself being a member of this Dojo for many years to come.
