How do they expect you to enroll into class if there is literally no one to help you. Especially those who this is their first time getting started. They act like their website is simple🤦🏾‍♀️ It’s annoying! Also when you email the advising and admissions dept. no one responds. I guess they do not care about ones education.

I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. Today I’m trying to speak to an advisor I’m the only one here sitting in the lobby still waiting for someone to help me. I used to love this school but honestly service has gone down the drain. Someone please do something about this customer service that El Centro provides.

My sister went to El Centro College and she loved it. Its located at West End Center, close to the Dart West End Rail Station, off of Elm Street and Lamar. These photos are the front and back entrances of El Centro College. Theres also a sign that says you can obtain records at this location. You have to pay big bucks to park in downtown Dallas so taking Dart for transportation is the cheapest and easiest way to get there.

The people here are very reserved and most of the admissions office are middle aged women who seem to be on their own time racking in a hourly check. I waited over three and a half hours in the admissions waiting room. I would highly advise you to do all off your admissions and classes online. The online courses are more helpful and the course material is much better. Take you time to read over each instructors bio page to see their teaching style and make surely their a good fit.

El Centro College is a diverse campus with many opportunities for advancement and growth. The classes are intimate enough were you feel heard and valued as a student, and not so large that you feel lost or overwhelmed. The school is located in downtown Dallas and is always buzzing with the activities of the heart of the city. Although there is not any free parking, the school offers students free Dart passes which last for the entire semester. I love my experience here and I know that I have been well equipped for transferring to the University.

I am writing on behalf of my daughter-in-law because she cant yet write English. She is attending English as Second Language classes. She went to her class this morning and she was literally kicked out of the school because she forgot to bring her student ID. She showed her passport, semester payment receipt, and books but the security guard yelled at her and asked her to leave. This is an unacceptable behavior. She wants to leave that school and transfer to another one where she feels valued and respected. I have a request. Please check the security cameras. I can give you details of time and entrance where this incident took place.Update: just talked to my daughter-in-law. She is so shook up over this matter that she is afraid to go back there and see the rude guy who kicked her out. What a feeling for a new international student. There was no misunderstanding. She understands English and clearly heard the security guard say that her passport was not an acceptable id. He stated that she needed to show a drivers license. Shes been in the US one month and has no DL. She rides public transportation to school. We are willing to discuss this incident with anybody.

Nursing College is a nightmare. Had an incident where a missed email became an issue that got me kicked out. When I brought up the fact that the college had never notified me in the first place, the dean herself dismissed me and blocked all my attempts at retrieving their email list in order to prove that I wasnt on it. This happened amidst issues with them issuing incorrect information on their blackboard pages almost every day on important testing and student status issues. To this day, I know people who got dropped from the program because the department posted an incorrect link for exam registration, meaning they missed the exam and failed to meet semester requirements.

I just wanted to take a moment to leave a comment. I arrived at the registration office at 8:05am and there was only one person there ahead of me. The lady at the desk told me that the registration sessions dont start until 9 and they last for 2 hours. I had to be to work at 10 so there was no way that was going to work for me. There was a lady there (forgot her name) but she got me assisted with someone who was working in general pop. admissions. I just want to thank her b/c it was already so inconvenient for me to even have to come up there just to register for online classes being that I have to get a 3 month old to daycare and drive all the way from downtown Dallas to Plano to get to work. I also want to thank Ms. Cynthia Walker (we have the same last name :)) I ended up getting back a lil after 9:30 and I dont think she was initially the person who was going to help me but I am glad she did. She helped me understand the things I was confused about and recommended me classes that I should take. After all was said and done, I walked out the office at 10am. Ms. Walker and the other lady played a big part in the 3 stars otherwise I would have rated 1. There is no reason I should have had to wait almost 2 hours to be seen when I arrived at the office at 8 and there was only one other person there to be seen.

This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I am here at the college registering for my classes for the fall and have been here since 1:00 it is now 4:00pm smdh. If you plan on coming here make sure you have a whole day to spend here!!!! Ugh

My professor has showed up three times this semester. We always combine three classes in one classroom. We basically teach ourselves. You have two weeks to do six quizzes and a test. Which gives us TWO days to study for a quiz (average 50 pages per chapter to learn medical, terms, surgical procedures, diagnosiss, ect.) and one of those days you have to take two quizzes or a test. If you manage your time wisely. That is not enough for us. My other school gives us a week to study for one quiz and reviews over the materials needed to pass the quiz and test. Lastly, my test I took didnt get completed due to my computer shutting down for whatever reason. I begged my teacher, (even sending her photos of my computer shutting down) to let me complete my test, hoping she would understand the situation was out of my control. A basic simple no. Anyway, really disappointing.

I am so disappointed in the advising center at this college. I arrived at 1:30pm and was running out at 3:30 to avoid a parking fine. I understand it’s a very busy time with Fall registration in full swing, but 2 plus hours wait is insane! Truth be told I was ok with the wait. I even expected it. The issue I really have is the attitude of one particular “advisor “. I try to take all things into account. I get being over worked and still trying to put your best foot forward. But when a student ( who is the reason you even have a job) is confused and searching for “advising” and clarification and maybe challenges something you are saying; you should maintain a since of professionalism. The “advisor” I had the unfortunate pleasure of speaking with was far from professional. I have spoke with 5 different advisor between Eastfield and El Centro though none were as unprofessional or rude as the last; ALL gave me different misguided information. At this point I have big decision to make in regards to my future in attending school here. Is so upsetting to me because I have waiting a long time to be able to get back on track with my dreams of finishing my degree. I feel that some people with DCCCD care but today was extremely discouraging.

Good college with many student services to offer. Really convenient if you ride the train to downtown because they offer train passes for free for students enrolled in more than 4 credit hours that semester. Ive heard that driving here is a hassle since parking spaces fill up and traffic is always a problem because its downtown. There is NO el centro parking! You will have to use a public parking space around the city that you have to pay for. Great restaurants around the campus if your looking for a bite to eat (Corner Bakery, Latin Deli, Starbucks and fast foods at the Renaissance building). The only con to this school is the downtown scene. Something is always happening at west end. Be careful.

And that she really care about her class then she slams you with a bad grade in the end of the clinical rotation. You complain to the president of the allied health and nothing happened it seems like the other one does not care either. I was taking a final at El Centro during the shootings on July 7th and had absolutely no clue as to what was going on outside. The alarm was sounding but we could not hear it on the 8th floor. After speaking to my instructor, he advised that we just sit down and not pay any attention to what was outside.Started off as a peaceful protest and then the shots came. After we were permitted to leave, I walked over to a window by the elevators and noticed road blocks. An officer shined his flashlight at the window to move away. Even with this, we did not know what had happened outside.Me and a few others decided to leave and got on the elevators. By the time we reached the 3rd floor you could here the alarms in the school. Once we walked off the elevator, we were met with several officers with their guns drawn on us telling us to get our hands up. Ive never been so scared in my life. The officers had no idea there were students still in the school.I thought for a brief moment, what if one cop would have jumped the gun and fired a shot, and then the rest of them. I would have left behind 2 kids and a granddaughter. I still think about it when I close my eyes at night. HORRIBLE!!!So please believe me when I say that the interview from the school president was CRAP!!! Get the damn alarm system fixed at the school before praising the staff for their hard work and efforts. UTTERLY RIDICULOUS!!!!!!!! This was a very traumatizing experience from the guns, to walking over gun shells, glass, and blood trying to exit the building.

The school is excellent but is in a terrible and dangerous location with a high crime rate. Students who ride the subway or even drive to school are harassed by homeless/drug addicts strangers daily. I was offered to buy drugs on the subway by an intimidating homeless man with a knife. I have to resort to expensive parking spots and walking to school is dangerous as well day or night. While walking to school I am constantly harassed and panhandled by homeless men. During one incident an older hoodlum man became aggressive when I declined to give him money and could not locate any police or security guards nearby, as they are never there when you need them. This is not right or fair. Students do not deserve to be harassed on their way to or from school. El Centro College needs to be relocated with a parking lot designated for students and staff.

This “college” is an absolute disgrace to higher education. To describe the employees as incompetent would be an understatement. Think US Post Office or DMV…you know the type.I had to relocate from Austin to Dallas for work and my wife is finishing her Associate’s Degree. If I had known how awful her experience would be attempting to attend classes here I would have passed on the job opportunity. It is seriously that bad.She transferred her transcript from Austin Community College several WEEKS before the spring semester would begin. This has been confirmed by ACC. El Centro has not done what they need to do to process her transcript resulting in holds on her financial aid and an inability to register for classes. Speaking with anyone from El Centro on the phone is next to impossible. One lady in particular REFUSED to return any phone calls. My wife literally had to call again and again one day (after days of trying to get in contact) just to get her to answer so she could remove the hold on her registration.Today she was dropped from her classes for not paying the tuition because of El Centro’s gross incompetence. Because they STILL have not processed her transcript and released the financial aid. This was after attempting to clear this up for WEEKS and being assured it was resolved.I shudder to think of the actual quality of the education being given here. I would urge anyone considering attending a community college to look elsewhere.Unfortunately there is not another school around here that offers a paralegal program or she would leave and never look back.

I have a 3.128 GPA, I dont owe anything on any account at any school, my necessary information has been completed months in advance and I am still unable to buy necessary class materials because I am waiting on EL CENTRO.It is beyond frustrating being met with so many stipulations and being limited on my ability to excel in this semester due to the campus inability to properly and efficiently communicate with students. Not all students attending are fresh out of high school, ill spoken or hood, some of us are responsible adults just trying to do better. I have encountered rude staff in every office I have been in while completing my enrollment and now this on top of everything else. The person I spoke with at the call center had no idea what to tell me. If I could afford books out of pocket I wouldnt have submitted a request for a grant in the first place.I dont know what needs to happen for this establishment to streamline their process but it needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Hello. I am Alvin Roney. Ive been trying to register for almost a week now but I have to call my preferred campus (El Centro) for an additional step to get registered for my student ID through Econect. Ive left voicemails & called throughout the morning everyday & got no one to answer the phone. Do they even have employees for this kind of stuff. This is ridiculous..

Nightmare trying to work with administration, teachers dont answer questions, they will pass the buck and then you still cant get the right paperwork needed. they change assignments at last minute so stay on line 24/7. biggest headache is administration nobody seems to know anything Deans are never available

Long before Police Academy was here, I was enrolled in Police Science at Tyler Jr. College. In 1971, I attended El Centro. In 2015-17 I used to use their Wi-Fi to access my Facebook pages.

This school might work out for some, but for me the staff was rude and unhelpful. Ive tried to get assistance from different departments, but Im literally being ignored to the point that Im drafting a letter to send to the Dean of the School and the Chancellor of DCCCD. I would recommend NCTC of this school any day. I had a much better experience there.

I went to Brookhaven first, but made more sense to go to El Centro (much closer) When first coming here to this school.....I hated it. Lots of traffic, elevators full ...long wait next min. Im late for class and some professors are strict and dont want to hear it.I took a summer break due to financial reasons. I saw my school in the news and was shocked and feel bad for those injured and killed. I now plan on returning in the near future and will be proud to one day graduate from el centro.I took one star due to bus passes...only full time students get them. I was only one credit away last time and was denied and risk trying to ride for free!I work a full time low paying job with rent...light.. Ect. So bus passes maybe for full time students and also consider us low income students too.

Worst school! Do not go here. The admissions office has 2 terrible employees. There both black. Ones a large woman who sits at the front desk, and another is a black male couselor. When i walked in the office, once i opened the door they both stared at me and mugged me. When i said hello, they didnt respond but still mugged me. So it was awkward. I explained why i was there to enroll, and just looked at me. And i said well, wat do i do? Then finally they looked at each other then looked at me, and asked if i applied to the school, i said yes. I was wondering if i could get a tour. Then they said u have to be a first year. After being sent across the hall to re apply. Basically to get my id number i came back and once again they awkwardly stared at me, until i said i had gotten my id number. Then the lady started to be nice to me, put me in the system and told me a couselor will call me, for my turn. I waited 35 minutes, and the black male couselor came and called for the name of a black male student who had showed up 20 minutes after i was waiting.I looked at the lady and she told me i know u were here first so let me check the system. Then she told me, someone deleted me out. So i had to wait longer. I think these ppl might be racist or prejudice. Completely the worst college experience ever!

The people criticizing the staff for being vague, rude, and apathetic are correct. Not everyone there is like that, but quite a few of them are. It was also hell trying to get financial aid because they bungled processing the paperwork.
