Good training, just a bit expensive. Very flexible when it comes to supporting the customer. They can tailor classes to your needs. I do really like that. I have attended many classes at AVO and found my instructors to be pretty good. My last instructor Greg, was great and made the class extremely interesting. How the guy incorporates safety into every step and makes it interesting is a true work of art. Best class at AVO so far!

AVO Training is far and away the best training available in the electrical industry. I have taken Substation Maintenance 1 & 2 along with medium voltage circuit breakers. Their facility is top of the line. You will train hands on REAL equipment that is in use daily in our industry. Their textbooks are detailed, thorough and make technical subjects easier to understand. The most valuable asset of AVO training is their fantastic instructors. I have had 4 different instructors during my classes and all were very knowledgeable. They had loads of real world field experience in addition to their technical knowledge. This is so important because throughout each class instructors explain real world scenarios and potential pitfalls you may run into. I am so fortunate to have attended AVO. It has helped my career and electrical knowledge immensely. I recommend them unequivocally.

The AVO training institute is far and away the most comprehensive and professional learning experience available. The level of knowledge of the instructors is second to none. I would recommend AVO to anyone interested in furthering their knowledge of the electrical field. I am a master electrician with 14 years in the trade and to my surprise I found myself learning new information on several topics. I heard about AVO institute from a friend in Saudi Arabia and the level of training they offered. So, I traveled all the way from my country to have some of their courses and I was amazed of the level of experience for their instructors. Most of them 30 plus years of experience with great knowledge. Your lucky people to have such institute. Highly recommended

The facilities were fine, except for air conditioning in the classroom, and the circuit breaker area! Several parts that we needed were missing for testing the equipment. So I would say at least 50% of knowledge was lost. The instructor was very informative and held my attention 99% of the time

The Thermography Infrared 1 Class is excellent. Before entering the class I had very limited knowledge and experience using an IR camera and software. After taking the class I believe I can conduct IR surveys comfortably and with accuracy. I didn’t realize all the uses for IR cameras. Coming from an electrical field I never realized how beneficial IR could be for general building and home maintenance. The instructor Mike made the class very comfortable and shared a wealth of experience and knowledge. The staff at AVO was very nice and helpful.

Coming into the course as someone with very minimal experience in the industry. This course has help me understand all the basics. I would highly recommend the course to anyone, new or someone with many of year experience for a refresher.. they offer many diffrent training courses as well.

I took 3 classes, Substation Maintenance 1&2, and Electrical Safety for Utilities. I am now certified for that work and got a promotion in my job. Instructors were very knowledgeable. They all had over 30 years in power distribution. Highly recommend.

AVO DC Battery Training: Rick trains the class with no “Grey Area”. I like that we were trained to have the ability to navigate through the materials to find the answers we need. There are too many scenarios to know everything. You need to be able to locate that info depending on your situation.

I came into protective relay maintenance - basic with almost 0 knowledge of relays and learned much more than I thought I could in a week’s time. I have taken 3 different courses at AVO with 3 different instructors. All three instructors have been extremely knowledgeable with decades of fieldexperience each. I would recommend AVO to those interested in learning more about this industry.

Had a great experience in substation maintenance 1 getting to do a lot of testing in the lab that I had little to no experience with. Ralph is a great instructor that is very knowledgeable. He also keeps the class entertaining as well.

The class was great. I took the microprocessor class for transformer protection with Ralph and he was an amazing instructor very knowledgeable and very entertaining. I will definitely take another course with AVO

Good training. Took the class power quality and hormonics. Class was great, had two people in class with their P.E. another person with 40+ years of experience and another engineer. We shared information with each other. Good basic class in power quality that gives you a place to start. Had instructor Paul C Bessey.

Ive taken this class twice .... this was a very much improved seemingly more steamlined flow. Had several aha moments. The lunches are catered and very tasty. 👍

The class was really good. It was great to meet other students from around the country to discuss the similar types of problems I face at work. The textbook and workbook are a great resource as well.

If you are looking to learn more about batteries this is the place to go. Good classroom material and hands on learning. We had a great instructor who did an excellent job.

AVO is a great training facility, that offers many classes covering a wide arrange of electrical needs for training within the industry. Their instructors have a great deal of knowledge and take time to make sure you understand before moving on, and they give you plenty of hands on learning in the lab.

Attended the Microprocessor Based Relay Testing Generation class here at AVO Training Institute in Dallas Texas. We had an amazing training experience with Ralph Parrett. AVO presented great information, hands on experience, theory, and testing. We would definitely recommend anybody take this training that is interested.

This is my third AVO course I have attended. I have found AVOs training to be superior to other vendors. The trainers are very knowledgeable and have years of experience in the high voltage industry. I look forward to attending more of their many courses in the future.

We definitely look forward to take more classes from AVO in the future. Everyone is very helpful and very knowledgeable. The instructors are also willing to stay late or take extra time on a subject to make sure everyone has a clear understanding of what is going in class.

We have had anywhere from 12 to 24 employees come through these classes every year and each electrician will have the same comment. Consistently the material on the final exams is not covered in the class material, no matter the class no matter the instructor. Then the billing and invoicing by AVO what a time consuming nightmare to pay these bills

I attended the MV Cable Testing and Diagnostics course at AVO. The training material is great and the instructor Mr. Franks is extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend AVO for all your training needs.

Have spent this week taking the Electrical Safe Work Practices for McDonald’s. Chris M., our instructor, has done a fantastic job covering the material and molding the class/materials to the general skill set contained by the pupils. We have had several discussions and things explained to us that just doesn’t come without years of experience. It’s been a very thorough week; the hands on experience in safe environment has been excellent. The ONLY thing I’ve had an issue with is the printings of the wiring schematics in book are unable to be read for some of the equipment...almost as if when transposed and printed it “blurred” making the already small schematics even harder to follow. Thanks for the industry insight and knowledge! :-)

The class venue and classroom conditions were nice and the Instructor was very knowledgeable. Some of the course materials and initially students requirements documents were dated though.

The training here is excellent. The instructor had many years of working knowledge about the course and it showed.

Great hands-on experience with relay testing. Would prefer the labs have the same test set and firmware versions for the STVIs at all tables, and enough of the same relays for every table to test simultaneously so we can learn from each other.

Always leave with a better understanding on subject matter than what I came in with. Instructors are knowledgeable and personable.

Excellent instructor, I received a lot more knowledge than I thought I would. Its not just a safety class, I learned a lot about electrical devices, circuitry, and multimeters. The biggest disappointment is the vending machines. Its really expensive. And the system required to buy is a hassle. Overall I would highly recommend. Great place to learn new skills and better yourself.

I have been coming to the AVO Training Institute for years. My former employer sent me here for training and I liked the training so much that when my current employer let me choose where to go for training, I picked here. 6 classes so far. And worth it.

I have taken 5 courses at AVO now and have learned quite a bit from each of them. I have particularly benefitted from Basic Electric Troubleshooting. This class and Electric print reading are a good foundation for those that want to get into or are in the early stages of the electric/utility industries.

Instructor was very knowledgeable and used real world experiences for examples. Lab and hands on training was outstanding.

Took the EST-MIHT course (recertification) Chris Murphy very knowledgeable on electrical safety and background knowledge needed to understand the why’s of safety when doing troubleshooting. Was able to able to also present the material in manner that even the new techs could understand.Course drawback - electrical diagrams in course book were blurred and unreadable. Course book should be available in electronic version so can be accessed on tablet/phone for future use.

After searching around for this class (grounding and bonding) AVO had it for more than half the price of others and two days longer! I signed up immediately. Near the starting date, attendance was low -- they were going to cancel the class. I asked them not to and within 24 hours the class was back on! AVO decided to take a loss rather than disappoint their customers. Excellent company with amazing, dedicated, and caring people! A++!
