I booked a class for adult BJJ, via the app, about a week prior. I called and asked for pricing. And was very excited to start training again. Only to be completely disappointed by having the Instructors flake on the class. Waited 20 minutes. Just to give them a chance. Nope. I’ll be taking my business elsewhere. Totally unprofessional.

Mike and 7 of his students and coaches came to our academy (Renzo Gracie Reno) and they were a wonderful addition to Saturday morning’s open mat. They were extremely courteous, controlled, friendly, and had a great jiu-jitsu game - if that’s any indication of how they run their academy, then we highly recommend you pay them a visit. They’re welcome back anytime!

A VERY SPECIAL PLACEI have grown up competing on the wrestling mat and have spent many years coaching, as well; I have been involved with and observed many many training centers in my time, so I feel I have a good understanding of what successful training looks like.. and it happens at Danville Jiu Jitsu, Wrestling & Kickboxing.About 2 years ago I enrolled both of my kids (son & daughter) after sitting in and watching a couple weeks of training. What struck me, above all else, was the balance that the instructors had created within each student. Nobody pouted or sulked when they had lost, nobody puffed their chests or gloated when they won... Everyone there was just happy to be learning and competing. THAT, to me, is very special. Then add the fact that the kids are really (really) good and you know they are doing it all right! Both of my children LOVE it!! I have also joined the adult classes, as many of the parents end up doing, and continue to be impressed. A five star rating just doesnt quite do it justice, in my eye... but you know its deserved when its a solid 5-star from all reviews!

Our whole family is so thankful to have found this place. The instructors are top notch, and excellent with adults and children alike. The facility is clean and spacious, and it’s simply a friendly, welcoming place. This is not our first experience in martial arts, so our judgement is based on plenty of experience, and you’ve got to check this place out, whether you’re a beginner or advanced belt.

Without a doubt, the best place in the Bay Area, for both kids and adults, to learn and train Jiu Jitsu and Kickboxing. Adam, Stephanie, Mike, Daniel and all the other coaches are gifted instructors who truly care about the development and well-being of all their students. You will not find a better student-to-coach ratio anywhere. The atmosphere is so inviting here that after watching our son in class, my wife and I stepped up and onto the mat ourselves. Come join us!

My kids and I all train here and I cant say enough how awesome the team is here. Its not unusual to have three black belts running the kids classes and the ratio of teacher to student is great. In addition to quality instruction, there is an emphasis on fun and rolling, so kids get plenty of mat time to practice what theyve learned. Adult classes and open mats are similarly well run. There is a good balance of hard core competitors and dads/moms who struggle to find time to train consistently. All are treated equally and there is no attitude by anyone in the gym. Like the kids classes, its not unusual to have several black belts in a class and many more in open mat sessions.

Mike and Stephanie bring a wealth of knowledge to the realm of grappling. But what I love the most is the network of friends and practitioners who gather to train and learn from one another.Thank you for everything that you do!!

LOVE! This is one of the best academies I have ever trained at. At other places I was injured every other class from having to fight to the death every roll. Since starting at Danville Jiu Jitsu, zero injuries and improved offense because my training partners give me a little time and space to try things out... It seems they might care more about me learning than feeding their egos! Imagine that!Stephanie Moon (black belt owner/instructor) is one of the kindest, most patient women I have ever met. She is so welcoming and has taught me so many little tricks and techniques that WORK!Dont worry-- if you are a man, this is also a great place for you!I just cant say enough great things about this amazing family! Come try it out!

Danville Jiu Jitsu has the BEST coaches and technique. They have helped my son & daughter to grow both physically and mentally to be their best. The coaches take time to grow and challenge each student which in return cultivates self confidence, character and growth. I love sending my kids to train with amazing coaches and mentors!

This is hands down the best place to train in the Bay. The instructors are spectacular at their art and come from some best instructors in the world like Caio Terra and Ralph Gracie. The competitors are world class, several of which won the recent world championships. But more than anything, the community is truly a blessing. This isnt a wannabe MMA gym where thugs come to learn how to hurt people. The mats are filled with people youll look forward to seeing almost as much as you look forward to training. This gym is a real blessing to the sport.

Danville Jiu Jitsu is incredible. I am a 55 year old CEO. I simply cant afford to get hurt. I started learning Jiu Jitsu at Danville Jiu Jitsu about six months ago. My motivation was one third fitness, one third stress relief and one third self defense. I am thrilled to have selected Danville Jiu Jitsu. Here, you learn from world class athletes who communicate in multiple ways to ensure you learn in the way that works best for you. All skill levels are absorbed seamlessly into the classes. The fun and relaxed atmosphere makes it so much fun to learn. Watching and learning from the black belts is a joy. Highly recommended!!

Danville Jiu Jitsu is a GREAT place to train! I’ve been training with this team for years and know you couldn’t find a better group of instructors and training partners in the area. They offer jiu-jitsu, wrestling, kickboxing, day and evening classes, you name it! The kids program is outstanding; focusing on self-defense, building confidence through technical application and practice, competition and having fun all the while. Come out and give the team a try and you may find yourself in a lifelong activity you’ll love.

My son I have been training at Danville Jiu Jitsu for a number of years. My son 5+ years and myself 3+ years. This is a very comfortable environment for learning Jiu Jitsu. The coaches are awesome, each bring a variety of different skills to make classes interesting for all. The members of Danville Jiu Jitsu and open mats are terrific and many of them have become close friends. If you or your family want to learn in a comfortable environment, this is the place for you.

Bottom line up front: I cant recommend this establishment enough!I started BJJ last year at age 49. Ive been coming in for almost a year now, usually several times a week. The instruction is first rate, and I speak from experience, having trained in Taekwondo, Aikido, and wrestling, as well as being former military. I get to train with every rank from new white belts to seasoned competitive black belts. I roll (roll means spar in BJJ lingo) with men and women from young adults to folks even older than me, and I learn from everyone! As a result, I entered my first tournament this last December, at age 50. But dont be put off by my age- I guarantee that everyone who works out breaks a sweat. Or two. Or three.Danville JJ also teaches Muay Thai and wrestling. But the instruction in these arts is not by an instructor from another art who happened to pick a bit of it up. These are bonafide experts, people who have competed in these areas at a high level. The atmosphere is very collegial. If you run late for a class because your commute went long, youre not going to be forced to do 30 burpees. The group here literally feels like a second family to me, and I hang with these folks outside of the studio, but theres not a trace of cliquishness. My fellow clientele come from all walks of life: salesmen, real estate agents, construction workers, surgeons, physical therapists, professional athlete, etc. Were all equals on the mat!

Danville Jiu-Jitsu is a fantastic place for the entire family to train. My children are in the kids jiu-jitsu program, my wife participates in womens jiu-jitsu and kickboxing and I train here as well. Beyond the technical training, which is superb, there are world champions on the mats here, the environment is special. We are a big family. We attend events together, celebrate the success of others and train hard together to collectively improve our skills. I am so lucky and happy to have found Danville Jiu-Jitsu and kickboxing. If you are reading this review, and are interested in grappling or kickboxing, look no further, you have found the right place.

Our family first found Danville Jiu Jitsu about a year and a half ago. My kids had taken tae kwon do for several years and were looking for something new. The kids classes ( three different classes based on age) are great as they teach jiu jitsu in a fun and interactive way. The kids are taught valuable skills but also taught to treat everyone with respect. My kids have built great friendships with the other kids.As for myself, a 47 year old father of three and busy professional, jiu jitsu has been a real life changer. Running and lifting weights for years had me bored and looking for something different. Jiu jitsu has been the most effective workout to get into shape and lose weight. Its also been a great way to relieve stress from work, home and watching the 49ers these past few seasons. There is a high level of jiu jitsu here with a high percentage of black, brown, and purple belts, however, everyone has been extremely supportive and willing to help the newer students learn and develop their skills. There is no sense of ego and no one here thats trying to hurt others. Its an amazing group of men and women who love to train, love to learn and love to help each other.Ive developed many friendships here and have enjoyed watching my family welcomed into the larger Danville Jiu Jitsu family.

I have trained at Danville Jiu-Jitsu since its doors opened in early 2012. Though my work requires heavy travel and my family requires my time (I’m a husband and father of three), I manage to train on the weekends I am home. And two of my three children have also trained there. Each time I train, I’m able to learn something from my instructors and training partners - lessons about the art of jiu-jitsu and life itself. There is a sacred level of mutual respect, love, and patience at Danville Jiu-Jitsu. There’s also a deep competitive vibe to the school, where students are inspired to perform and compete at their best. The instructors are world class and have trained with the likes of Ralph and Cesar Gracie, Caio Terra, and other high-caliber practitioners. The backgrounds and skills of my instructors and training partners run the gamut, from weekend warriors like myself to high level UFC and IBJJF competitors and winners.Danville Jiu-Jitsu has become a second home and family for me. I highly recommend the school for all skill levels and ages. You will find yourself welcomed with open arms, as well as friendly armlocks and chokes.
