Nothing but good things to say about this place! The owner of the gym Mark Redding goes over and beyond for his students. He constantly travels to train with champions to broaden his knowledge with different forms of martial arts. The gym is also full of humble people. There is no room for big egos. Everyone treats each other like family. This gym saved my life in more then one way. I could go on and on about how good this gym is and how much I recommend you go here over any other gym out there. If you really want to train with people who are there to make you better and not beat you up, and you want to be given more and more knowledge on how to defend yourself, please do yourself a favor and signup and make the best decision of your life. I am very passionate about this place and I can’t wait to be able to go back again. Thank you Mark for all of your help and for always making everyone feel welcome!

I’ve trained BJJ in Hawaii, Bogota, and Salinas CA. I’ve trained at Reding fir over a year now. Mark Redding offers by far the best experience of all. The price is fair and the amount of available classes every week for morning and night is perfect for everyone. Mark also offers great opportunities to learn from high level BJJ players on a consistent basis. His kids programs are also unparalleled. There is good variation in ranks so you can drop in and have someone to train with so you can progress. If your in Denton there is no better place for martial arts.

Their kid classes are wonderful, have not attended an adult class. Their cancellation policy is strict but its good for kids (and parents) to learn how to stick with something, even if its not always easy or fun. Reding is good exercise, discipline, and teaches kids integrity.

Mark Reding is a well established Martial Arts Professor with a studio teaching both youth and adults. This is a well kept facility with excellent instructors who take time with the kids. Kids are able to learn a variety of Martial Arts enabling then to excel in different areas. Kids also gain team building skills and learn to be discipline in the Art they are learning.

I have been training at Reding Martial Arts for over two years now, and have never felt more at home with a group of people. When I walked in for the first time, I did not have any martial arts background and was nervous about not knowing what to do, or really what I was getting myself into. What I found, was that I was welcomed with open arms, and that everyone was willing to share the knowledge that they had without judgement. The school offers an extensive, well rounded program with classes for both adults and children.Mark and Nick Reding have a wealth of knowledge and they do a fantastic job breaking everything down so that it is easy to understand. They are also very well connected within the Martial Arts community, and continually bring in world-class champions in order to offer different perspectives and increase the diversity of skills in their students. What had started as a summer experiment has become part of my life, and I am grateful and humbled every time I have the opportunity to train with such a great group of people.

I trained at RMA for several years before I moved away from the area. Mark and Nick are top-notch guys and great instructors. I never had a bad experience there, and I made some amazing friends that I still keep in touch with today.I recently began looking for a new martial arts school near my new home, and the experience has really driven home for me how special the Reding brothers are. If I still lived in Denton, I would still be training with them today.

Been training with Mark for 4+ years and Ive never gotten the amount of exposure to high level training at any previous gym Ive attended. Hes brought in former UFC veterans (Travis Lutter, Kyle Watson) BJJ world champions (Roger Gracie, Jared Weiner), and Muay Thai champions (Saekson Janjira), etc. Changing room isnt the biggest, nor do we claim to have the largest mat space, but if you will let that get in the way of your growth obviously jiu jitsu isnt that important to you.

They dont win competitions and have a small changing room. I went their for only one day and got scammed by a creditor for a years worth of tuition. In the Denton area I found top game jiu jitsu to be a better fit for me. They have better matts, more space and offer more classes of jiu jitsu, and it felt more like a family there. If I am gone for 3 days my coach calls me to check up on me. They have a kid there name Jorge Valladares that got 54 wins 4 losses his first year as a white belt and was trained my coach Blake at top game. YOUTUBE him. Top game was an all around better fit for me.

Right off the bat, the reviews on this business should strike you as odd for four reasons:1) They were all written within a week of each other.2) They all say systematically the same thing.3) They attack the negative reviews, but do not address the message they have.4) Nobody finds the negative reviews helpful, but everyone finds the positive ones helpful (even before this posts, this is probably the case for this review)I left Reding martial arts several months ago, and wish I had done so sooner. The school was presented to me at the time of joining as a genuine MMA school, where I could learn the best ground and standup techniques and win fights. Not even close. Reding is not a MMA school; it is a mix of sub-par BJJ and bad standup classes. If you want to learn good Muay Thai, go to Saekson in Plano. If you want to learn good Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, go to Carlos Machado in Farmers Branch. If you want to learn an excellent blend of martial arts for fights and practical purposes, go to Mohler Jiu-Jitsu and MMA, Marcus Hicks MMA, Travis Lutter MMA, Janjira Muay Thai, Star BJJ, or Machado BJJ, all of which are in DFW.Yes, Reding was rated Best in Denton in 2011. The local newspaper does the judging for this award, and they also rate the best barbershop and the best attorney. Who cares that they rated who they think is the best martial arts gym? Looking at how other gyms view Reding Martial Arts, youll find it isnt very favorable. Heres why:1) There are no traditional facilities or equipment offered at Reding that other gyms offer. These include hanging heavy bags, wall mounted targets, tractor tires, cages, or rings. All of the other facilities listed offer these. Also, the training area at Reding is roughly the size of your grandmas living room. They have, in addition to this, a private training area, about the size of her closet. This is definitely not enough room for 20 students.2) There are no fighters that train at Reding. Your school as credible as your fighters that train there, and if your fighters are bad, or dont exist, then it doesnt say a lot for it.3) There really isnt any competition close to Reding to make it stand out. If you put a good MMA gym right across the street from it, Reding would fail. Will, youre right, Reding Martial Arts isnt called Reding Mixed Martial Arts. But they do book mixed martial art fights at least on an amateur level, they presented themselves as an MMA gym at the time I signed, and they do offer BJJ and Muay Thai, the two most commonly used martial arts in UFC, Pride, Dream, and Strikeforce (All MMA venues). So most people would agree that Reding is a MMA gym. A bad one, but still a MMA gym.At one time, I did take private lessons from Mark Reding. Routinely, he would invite at least one other student to sit in and participate during that hour, while I was paying the bill. At $70, this shouldnt have been done. Im paying for one on one time with the instructor, not funding a small class.Any serious martial arts or MMA student would do well to consider the following schools: Mohler MMA, Janjira Muay Thai, Machado BJJ, Mezger MMA, Lutter MMA, Hicks MMA, or Star Jiu Jitsu, all of which are in DFW. Do not go to Reding if you want to learn quality fighting. Do not take your children there if youre trying to teach them discipline or technique. Definitely do not go if you want to prepare for a amateur fight. Pick another one.

Reding Martial Arts is an outstanding Martial Arts school. Ive been here for over three years, and Im not going anywhere. RMA fields *many* competitors from its membership, primarily in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu. With the instruction I received here, I was able to compete in a number of tournaments myself, including the IBJJF Pan-Ams in California. The facilities are always clean, in good condition, and are never too crowded to get in a good training session. In response to the dissatisfied customers: RMA has many satisfied parents and young students. I have spoken with them and trained with the students transitioning from youth to adult classes. Ive personally seen Mark and Nick working with the young students to improve their skills and discipline.RMA offers classes in many martial arts, but has never represented itself as an MMA school. Reding martial arts does not book MMA fights, and does not offer MMA classes. Would you presume to review a French restaurant on the quality of its burritos?Reding Martial Arts is a great place for adult and youth students to learn and improve their martial arts skills. Great coaches, great facilities, great community.

Since day 1 of training at Reding Martial Arts, the instructors have been not only welcoming and kind, but also very knowledgeable and eager to teach. The Reding brothers are both world class competitors and champions (both with almost 20 years of martial arts experience) and give nothing but the best to their students. They even bring in their personal instructors to ensure their students receive the best of the best, which include Saekson Janjira (6 time undefeated Muay Thai World Champion), Octavio Couto (4th Degree Black Belt in BJJ), Tim Bulot (8th Degree Black Belt in Kempo Karate), and many others. The academy is very family friendly and has classes catered to both adults and children. The training is incredible and has put me into the best shape of my life. The philosophy and mindset that you learn from training here is remarkable, it has reflected itself upon my daily life to the point where I see things in a whole new perspective and live a more fulfilling life because of it. If you are looking for a place to learn martial arts, self defense, get in shape, meet great people, or just want a new hobby, then look no further. There is a reason why Reding Martial Arts was voted Best in Denton 2012.
