The college of music is supposed to be good, especially the jazz studies program. The computer science program, from the college of engineering can be a little challenging at times. The football team’s performance has not been the best in the nation, but things can get better with time. If you are a student, make good use of the recreation center - you pay lots of money for it, even if you dont use it.

I went to UNT for PhD. In summer, Denton is a quite college town. But, in fall its lively. I like the college very much - spacious. Newly built buildings such as college of business building and the new student Union gives college a modern (state-of-the-art) look. About 36,000 students in 2016. Rec center is really good!

Im surprised, so many one star reviews here. I agree its no Harvard, but I wouldnt go as far as calling the University Of North Texas, an oversized community college, Come on?! I can only speak in my experience attending UNTs College Of Business and the instructors I engaged with. All considered tuition here is more affordable than most, pair that with highly qualified instructors I saw in classrooms, Id say you GET the most bang for your buck and then some. I was lucky enough to enroll just as the University completed construction of a new COB building. A hugely upgraded facility from what I expected, lucky timing I suppose. Most importantly I truthfully enjoyed attending class, regardless of how hard we partied on Fry St. the previous night. NEVER imagined myself saying those words before attending this University.Short version,No one likes to pay for school, but tuition is relatively a bargain because the Dollar: IQ received ratio is excellent! My major was business; our building was brand new, and the professors I thought were brilliant. Bringing in CEOs of billion dollar business as our private guest speakers, sharing invaluable real-world insight found in no textbooks. Collectively the Universities CoB Professors and guest speakers elegantly bridge the gap many graduates might otherwize find difficult to cross, the transition from College to Career.Just my opinion... I enjoyed the University Of North Texas

I went to this university and I miss it so much! I didnt live on campus, but in an apartment down the street (Eagle Creek), so I dont know of any dorm issues. My friend lived in one and she never had any problems though. For parking, when I did commute, I would have to get there early so I could find a space before my classes started, but I honestly feel like that will be an issue at any university! But regarding the classes, advisers, professors I had, the scenery, Denton in general...I loved it all!

There were quite a few things about UNT the upset me but there were also a lot of things that we were happy about. The price was atrocious and rose every year my husband and I attended. I ended up transfering to TWU but he graduated from the Engineering program at UNT in 2013. Another huge downfall for us was that they make it VERY hard to be a non traditional student. There are not enough class times and even told us that they expect their students to focus on school, not work.... well we had a family so we needed to do both and were forced to take minimum wage jobs because those were the only ones that would work around our school. When he went to another school for his masters he was able to work in his field full time and go to school full time and maintain a 4.0.... so I think UNT can seriously do better there. We do have many fond memories of our time at UNT, though.

I attended this school and I was happy to graduate with a Bachelors Degree. This school offers a wide variety of academic programs. Before attending UNT, I made the decision to complete the majority of my basic level courses at a 2-Year Community College. There is nothing wrong with attending a Community College first and I would highly recommend anyone reading this to attend one to complete their basics. Almost all Community Colleges are open-access, which means almost anyone who applies to attend one of them is accepted. Community College courses are also much cheaper than University level courses. Community College courses are also much easier than University level courses and these courses will almost always transfer to whichever 4-year University you plan to transfer your basics to. Another thing I enjoyed while attending Community College was how the class size was much smaller in size than University level courses. There were a few University level courses I had taken at UNT that had class sizes with over 100 students. These class sizes made me feel out of reach from my professor. Every class I took in Community College had class sizes of under 25 students. Personally, less students in a classroom makes the connection between me and the instructor much stronger and fosters a more interactive/ hands-on learning environment. UNT was big on giving their students free admission to home sports games. As long as I presented my student ID, I had the luxury of enjoying free home softball games, free home football games, free home basketball games, and sometimes discounted food at local restaurants around the UNT campus. UNT is a great school.

I chose UNT because it was 7 hours from home and I wanted to be on my own.I didnt know that I was getting myself in to one of the best experiences of my life at this university. The Psychology department is great - many people say they dont give enough opportunities, but they do. You just have to find them yourself and put yourself out there. I feel the undergraduate curriculum for psychology isnt the best... but if you get yourself into research labs and find clinical experiences to back up your education, its a really good combination. The professors in the psych department are all great (from those that Ive had). The campus is beautiful and full of trees. The campus is NOT a party campus in my opinion. There are apartments that have more parties going on than others, for sure. But, I wouldnt say it is something that caused any problems for meThe only cons I can think of were lack of financial assistance (other than loans..) and how expensive the dorms were in freshman year. I honestly loved my 3 years here and graduated with a degree in psychology.

The place is good, and I love it here, but I will take the opportunity to point out that parking is pretty rough for commuters. Outside of that, I wish the school practiced more neutrality as an academic institution rather than openly siding with one of end of the spectrum. Amazing place to go to school if you want a lot to do/options in undergrad. Amazing music, applied anthropology, education, English and pretty good history department. Review №78

Not very good. The cost is cheap because the education is low quality. Parking is garbage. You wont get a spot after 9am. Food choices arent much. The campus itself is pretty clean, but the pond or at least one section of UNT is always under maintenance. The students at the school dont ever engage with new people. I went here for two years and only talked to five acquaintances in that time, because they were in a few my classes. People stare at everyone when walking by others here, especially me. Half the professors I had were terrible and didnt care whether or not their students understood the material in their courses. Choose this school if you dont have a job, and are free to devote all your time to your studies.

As a former football player, let me say that the sports (at least football) suck here. And dont even get me started on the parking. You can get charged randomly and you pay lots for parking. I recommend highly to anyone looking for a public college in Texas. Just avoid the parking.

I know this probably wont convince anyone, but this is a terrible school. Most of the teachers dont even read their own assigned reading. The campus is unsafe and has multiple assaults and murders recently (2016). The dorms are dirty and small, and any request for maintenance is slow. The library charges you to use their scanner, printer, or 3d printer. To top it all off, there is a marijuana den right off of campus. Most of the students here smoke it, and no one cares. Oh and also there is a preacher that is here twice a week to shout at everyone that they are going to hell. You will get a better education for a lower price at any of the University of Texas campuses. That is if you care about education I guess. You can be like half the people at UNT and smoke pot all day and never find a job.

I was not impressed with this place at all. Some buildings are nice, others havent been renovated since the 70s. The roads suck, the parking situation is a joke and they hand out tickets for ANY reason, as if paying $250 for a parking permit wasnt enough. Fight your citations IN PERSON because theyll just tell you they cant do anything about it over the phone. Do yourself a favor and find a school that is worth going to where they actually want you to succeed, not just take your money, and one where you can actually find a place to park at. Life in the Army was better than putting up this place. Veterans, make Uncle Sam pick up your tab up elsewhere.
