Have seen children that have difficulties with math and reading come to Kumon. Theres no partiality in who is taken on as a student. If a student works hard, they can become proficient and confident in their abilities in math and/or reading. They also need to know the parent supports them in their quest to learn

The director is partial when selecting who comes to HER center. Ultimately, my daughter was rejected because she questioned our commitment. The last time I checked, this was a paid service. She was very disrespectful and at the same time stating over and over that she has 15 years of experience. SUCCESS in her mind does not include patience and growth. Why claim to be a successful center if you only accept students thriving in math? Isnt that cheating and self-deceiving behavior? Though she put down Mathnasium in conversation, I had a FAR better experience with them. They were kind and patient and understood that the struggles of a child should not be interpreted as a personal offense and frustration.

Kumon is a wonderful program to combat our lack of teaching math in our schools today. They actually teach math facts and hold kids accountable for their own work. My kids have thrived under this centers tutoring. They are head and shoulders above their peers. The kids do the worksheets every night, by themselves, I grade them. Though this is a newly opened Kumon center, this is more conveniently located than my last one. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by the staff and I found them to be very helpful and knowledgeable. Although my time has been short here, Im confident I made the right decision by moving here.

Kumon is the worlds largest after school program, with proven success for over 50 years. It builds discipline, good work ethic and academically strong, self learners.Understanding the philosophy of Kumon is very important. Starting from a comfortable starting point, (lower than actual ability) helps give the child confidence, a chance to get used to the new program and fill any learning gaps . ( We all have some!)This Instructor has done this before, and is committed to Kumon. I have worked with her, and seen her build self learners.

Where to start? All of the tutors and graders here are phenomenal. However, it’s hard to help your child achieve when the owner of the center is a tyrant.Tutors aren’t supposed to assist the children - doesn’t that seem a bit hypocritical? Considering your child is there for assistance?According to the owner, staff is also not supposed to engage in conversation or act friendly to the children.I’ve watched her make children cry on several occasions. She is extremely apathetic and will tell children and their parents that they’ll go nowhere in life if they don’t do the program.Children have had to repeat the program a few times (getting stuck on certain levels) and it’s been insinuated that she doesn’t pass them or graduate them because the income supplementation is needed.Oh! And there’s no soap in the bathroom. Ever. All in all,I’d advise parents/family members to exercise extreme caution when considering signing your child up at this center.

My experience at this Kumon has been stellar. The owner knows how this is done. She is very thorough in her engagement with my child, keeps him accountable and motivated. While she encourages that we work with kids at home for their own good, she does not make it compulsory- I really appreciate this! I love the center for its diversity and warm vibes!

Instructor is very experienced and is able to explain the program very well. She is patient with all the questions that we asked and it seems to me that the center is able to help high level students as well. The center looks very clean and organized which reflects on the instructors personality.

The ambience of a Kumon center and the success of individual kids depends greatly on the owner... shes got tons of experience and gives individualized attention when required...not sure how someones opinion can be so different from the general consensus of her center!!Its indeed sad when people do not understand the benefits of Kumon...I have 2 kids and both go to Kumon eagerly... yup am surprised too because it is challenging and its self motivational work.. but they realize how it helps them in different stages of their Math progression at school... it certainly is not for everyone and if one doesnt like the system then theres no reason to vent.. just dont join... lol..theres always private tutoring...

Kumon has been around for 58 years worldwide and 33 years in the US and is growing rapidly. This certainly speaks for the program.Kumon helps the students with building solid foundations for high school and college. The structure and repetitive nature of the program is what helps them understand concepts. Kumon worksheets are designed to introduce new concepts in a way that lets children understand and apply them without being spoon-fed or taught in the traditional sense. By succeeding early and often without constant intervention, Kumon students gain the motivation to set their own goals and tackle ever more challenging material. The most important factor that contributes to Kumon’s success is its amazing ability to build SELF-LEARNERS, learners who have great thinking skills and are independently completing their assignments without hand-holding even though the materials are ahead of the child’s grade level.Think of Kumon like  caulking- it seals up all the holes that can crop up over the years in school. Kumon should mitigate the need for ACT/SAT prep, when junior year rolls around. Kumon is long term preparation. Wonders cannot happen in a short span of time and there are no short cuts to learning. A solid foundation is critical for significant score gains in the ACT/SAT. To do well, the foundational material tested (i.e. Math, vocabulary, grammar) should be learned to the point of automaticity. You want to know it so well you dont have to think about it. Bottom line: Kumon is an excellent long term strategy so children dont go through the stress and panic of preparing at the last minute for the ACT/SAT or for any other testings/competitions.
