I learned from Cloud 9 and had a wonderful experience! Yes there are a lot of students that use Cloud 9, but they also have the most instructors on the hill. My instructor was Kevin, and he was voted best instructor of the year in a national magazine.Yes the gliders that they will put you on for the very first time will be older, but they are inspected every single year and are safe. As soon as your skills progress and they send you off of the top of the hill, they will put you on an excellent glider. By this time you are hooked and you end up buying all of your own gear anyways. I dont know who told you that it would cost $7000. I only spent $5000, and that included lessons for a month. Glider, harness, reserve, stuff sack and a bunch of other stuff. If you are truly on a budget they can help you out with buying used gear. Eventually you will want new gear anyways, so why go used?I bet that your father never taught you how to drive a Ferrari as your first car, but that Honda was just as safe, and better suited to the skills you were trying to learn. I tell all of my friends to use Cloud 9.

This shop is absolutely amazing. I received my P2 through them 1 year ago and have since gone back to buy wings here and ask for advice. I can approach any one there about questions I have and they always have the answers and guidance. This is truly a top notch school that really cares about their customers and the sport.

While down at Point of The Mountain we had great instruction that was given to both my wife and I from Kevin and Steve; they are both on top of their profession in terms of flying and teaching. My wife and I both had very different learning stylers, and they were quickly able to identify that and adjust their teaching to best suit us as individuals. Being a teacher myself, I took this for granted until I came home and started flying at my local site. I have quickly come to realize how all encompassing our instruction was. Being a novice pilot at best, I was surprised to be able to recognize many errors some of the other pilots were making, and even more shocked when I was able to give suggestions on launching techniques that were happily received. I even watched a guy try to repack his reserve into another harness, and only one other guy knew how to do it. I thought that this was just standard instruction; I guess not.For a sport that has the potential for dangerous situations, I am glad that our two instructors were not only great flyers, but teachers, meteorologists, and understanding individuals that truly want all of their students to be as safe as possible. I will go back to Cloud 9 again for future instruction, and I urge anyone that is serious about paragliding to go there as well.

I sent my glider to these guys for repairs/inspection after landing in a cotton field. My experience was excellent. I loved the free riser bag. Will ship my glider back to them all the way from Louisiana if I have to.

I was impressed. It was great fun. I learned a lot in my ten days here -- both about staying safe in this sport as well as the techniques required to launch, fly and spot land. Even though during my training I flew many times from the fabled Point of the Mountain, this school emphasized ground handling skills as the basis of becoming a good pilot. The instructors were all professionals who each shared a passion for the joy of free-flight. My expectations were exceeded and I could not stop smiling as I drove back to my home in Austin, Texas. Thank you, Cloud 9.

Great atmosphere and friendly, knowledgeable staff, but there was little to buy and there seemed to be quite a barrier to entry into the sports.

They took in the likes of this speedflyer and have drilled some bad habits out, along with helping me transition to the big wings! Great program and awesome staff.

I clipped my Ozone MojoPWR in my propeller, and they fixed it in the time quoted for a lot less than I expected. Its raining for the next few days, but as soon as it clears, Ill give her a test flight and update this if I wind up in the hospital.;-P

We recently purchased 2 Stromer ST1 Platinum Ebikes from Cloud nine about mid april. We then took them for their first test drive in Moab and had a blast riding around the hills above Kane Creek as well as the city of Moab and then trails in Utah on the way home.We charged them from the outlet in our camper with the generator running and it worked great. We are both in our 60s and used to go dirt bike riding but these are fun because you can go down trails that forbid motorized vehicles.I also rode down to my sons house about 10 miles away and down a 600 elevation drop, the 20 mile round trip left about 58 percent battery. We have since been riding trails that i have never been good at even in my 30s because of the elevation gains and I am not very coordinated but am getting more so and getting out way more often.I am also having no problem getting my husband out because he suffers from an old foot injury and does not like walking.I thank Steve and his crew for his very professional (and kind) help getting these. He is a great guy. They will accommodate you in a very cheerful manner. If you are visiting Moab, his place is well worth the visit.

In August 2011, my fiancée and I learned to paraglide with Cloud 9, and we would recommend the folks there to anyone interested in getting into the sport. The Point of the Mountain, just south of Salt Lake City, Utah, is a great place to learn to fly.All the instructors at Cloud 9 were patient, and they did a great job of making sure that we were grasping the basics and that we felt comfortable and secure. Kevin, the primary instructor and program coordinator was exceptionally skilled in and knowledgeable about all things paragliding – from basic and advanced maneuvers, to wind patterns and weather. After we completing the P-2 certification program, we also purchased gear. They gave us a good deal, and Kevin gave us candid advice and helped pick the gear that would best fit our respective skill sets.As a number of the other reviewers indicated, there were usually several other students with us, but there were always 3 to 5 instructors providing ample direction and supervision. Furthermore, although some of the gear was a couple of years old and had been well used (which is not surprising given that students are rough on equipment when learning), none of it was faulty or unsafe by any means.Put simply, my fiancée and I cannot recommend Could 9 highly enough. If you are going to the Point of the Mountain from out of town (and want to be almost ensured you will complete the P-2 certification program, even in the face of slow progression and/or bad weather), you might want to consider allotting 14 full days, rather than their recommended 10, to complete program.
