Patrick Johnson, the owner, is an excellent hands-on teacher who cares deeply that you learn safe flight skills and good judgement. I cant recommend him highly enough. He is dedicated to his students, available, fun, and extremely knowledgeable about paragliding. Stay humble and level up!

Pat is a great paragliding instructor. He pours an incredible amount of time and effort into teaching his students. They often end up growing into very competent and mature pilots. He has an incredibly high standard for his finished students. His teaching style is direct and no-nonsense. Pat makes sure his students grow to be aware of everything going on around them. Hes also been doing this for a long time, and it shows

TLDR: No instructions were given, we had no idea where to go or what to do. We were told we would receive instruction, but we never did.Unfortunately we never even made it up on our flight, due to poor communication and processes being highly unorganized.I originally reached out via email, and I received a long, automated response that left my inquiry unanswered. I sent a follow-up text, as the email said text was the best point of contact. I received the exact same automated response, and was no closer to booking a flight.Eventually someone responded via text, and after some confusion and miscommunication we were able to schedule a flight roughly 3 weeks out. We were not given any information - no address or time to show up - they only said they would call us the day before the flight to give instruction.2 days before the scheduled flight, I was as clueless as the day I first contacted them. I reached back out asking for clarification on what to expect, when and where we should arrive, etc. I was told we would get a phone call the day before our flight with instruction. The day before our flight comes and goes, and we don’t receive any call with instruction. The day of our flight, essentially a few hours before we would have been going up in the air, we reach out to cancel, due to the unorganized nature of the way the whole process was handled. We still had no information by this point.Any type of communication, clarification, or information would have made this experience less frustrating, but we were essentially ghosted from the very beginning.I would have loved to go up with them, but unfortunately the lack of communication and unorganized nature of the whole process does not leave me with much trust or security in those running this business.

Patrick is a great instructor who works with you so that you are able to achieve your goals in the sport. He does a excellent job of explaining the reasons “why” versus just going through the motions. Patrick is looking to make people safe long term pilots. I highly recommend Patrick and Point of the Mountain Paragliding for anyone looking for a life changing adventure.

After starting my paragliding instruction in the mountains of BC, my husband and I decided to take a road trip to Point of the Mountain to learn in a different environment. My goal was to really figure out how to ground handle my wing and safely reverse launch in control. What we ended up getting was so much more with our instructor Patrick. His coaching style, his thoroughness, his focus on theory and safety, and his eagerness to teach made our experience top notch. From helping us become intimately familiar with our gear, to simulator scenarios, to personalized flying instruction, I would wholeheartedly recommend Patrick to anyone looking to hone their skills or learn to paraglide. Clearly, his experience in the sport and the personalized instruction sets this paragliding school apart from the rest. We will be back.

Patrick Johnson is an amazing instructor! Clearly a professor of his field! He provides clear instruction on everything to do with paragliding from equipment, setup, kiting, handling high winds, flying, ridge soaring, top landing and flying safely with traffic... to weather and clouds. He provides detailed instruction catered to your learning style and is committed to small class size and 1:1 instruction. Pat and Blake teamed up well to help if there were more students. I would highly recommend Point of the Mountain Paragliding to anyone interested in top quality instruction and loads of fun.

Patrick, you out did yourself. I went up one night and he was able to get a good launch and what seemed to me like a great flight, he told me to come back the following night cause he said he could do much better. Long story short he did, what an amazing experience he taught me so much in so little time . Thanks again pat! It was spectacular

Pat is an excellent instructor, in less than 3 seasons I have gone from bunny hill flights to hardcore mountain XC. He tailors each lesson package to the student based on what works for them. He also never quits instructing and is vested in you long after being signed off. You will get personal attention from Pat that will go a long way to quickly getting your skills to the right level.

I dont have enough good things to say about Pat and his paragliding school. His commitment to his students and their safety is unparalleled. He caters his teaching style to students skills and personality. He doesnt rush anything to check off boxes and move on, but instead makes sure you have a solid foundation both on the ground and in the air. He consistently keeps the process fun and exciting without putting your safety at risk. He doesnt take on so many students that you are trying to learn at the same time as 5+ people at once like many of the other schools. If you are seriously considering taking up the sport, POTM Paragliding should be your first call!

If you want to have an instructor that is dedicated to your safefy and success you should pick Pat Johnson. I say this from my wife and my experience working with Pat over this last summer. Since we have had some exposure to the local paragliding community, I can also say that Pat has a reputation for working with you individually until you are sucessfulll. He never quit on us and ultimately wanted it to be something that is fun, exciting, and safe. One thing is for sure, there is no one in the Salt Lake City Paragliding community that has more passion for the sport or his students than Pat.

I visited the SLC twice and got lessons from Pat on both occasions. Pats lessons catered to my needs, which were ground handling in strong wind and top landing. He also identified my weakness in ridge soaring patterns and taught me the patterns on a whiteboard and over the radio. I learned so much in a week.
