Quality, ValueMy son started learning tabla from Mike Lukshis at Taalim School of Indian Music when he was 5 yrs old, than we move to upstate and after 3yrs again back to New Jersey. First thing I did was search for Mike, Since than its being 3 yrs , and the experience is wonderful. This is his connection to the Indian heritage and I am so grateful for the exposure. Mike is an excellent teacher and grooming the kids so well to grow as a wonderful musician.

Taalim school of Indian Music is truly of its kind. It’s blessings to have school like this here in USA which gives training in Tabla, Indian classical music , instruments and dance forms in traditional way, the way guru-shishya (teacher-student) tradition and Taalim (training) is given by all great teachers of India. If you are truly want your kids not just to learn these art forms but along with it learn discipline , focus and great values look no further.

I started learning tabla over a decade ago. Since then, I have learned from multiple teachers and all of them have been excellent. It feels more like a family than a student-teacher relationship which is the best. This goes to show how much they care about you and what you learn.

Taalim School is a great Indian music school. Our son has been a student for over 4 years. His instructor Mike is very passionate and motivating; and encourages students to practice and participate in several different events aimed at improving their overall playing skills.

I must begin by saying that Talim School of Indian Music is more than just a place where my child takes Tabla lessons.I have always aimed for a holistic approach to any kind of learning and really appreciate the willingness with which the teachers share their knowledge and experience with the students in this school.My child is fortunate to be learning from a teacher who is focused on the continual improvement of each student and engaging them creatively in the learning process. Jin is a wonderful teacher and I acknowledge all the effort she puts in along with the passion that she has for what she does.I would also like to acknowledge how smoothly the classes were transitioned to virtual sessions - kudos to their adaptability and flexibility. Above all it is a place with “positive vibes only” !

Taalim school has been a great experience for our family. Mike Lukshis has been my son’s tabla guru (teacher). And, my son has learned so much. Mike teaches my boy more than just tabla. He focuses on his overall growth through the lessons. He customizes his style to make it a better learning experience for my son ... and is truly passionate about his art and cares deeply about his students. Am so glad we found Taalim and Mike!

I took Kathak lesson from Taalim and I have been fortunate enough to learn under the guidance of my teacher ( Jin Won), who is passionate about the art, energetic, positively inspiring and always encouraging. Even though I started with no dance experience whatsoever, she has been very patient and always kept motivating me. I would definitely recommend her Dance class & Tabla class for all levels.

Excellent school and Teachers. If you are looking for pure classical this is the best place. Teachers are very dedicated.

Have been part of this wonderful taalim family for over 10 years now. My kids and me have been fortunate to learn tabla and kathak from the amazing teachers at Taalim. Special shout-out to Ms Jin for being an great example for hard work, precision and attention to detail. Also to Mike who was very patient with my older kid when he had just started learning tabla. We are so glad to be part of Taalim.

I’m learning Kathak from Ms. Jin virtually. She has a lot of experience and is very professional. She teaches Kathak with full passion and interest. I would recommend this place to everyone.
