I toured and researched about 10 different preschools in the area and decided to go with Childrens Place. Im so happy I did and wouldnt send my 3-year-old anywhere else. Its been a hard year with the pandemic for everyone, but the staff and owner have clearly put the safety of all children first. My daughter is already mastering counting and opposites and has really improved her tactile skills. Shes always happy to go to school and comes home with lots of stories to tell. The staff there are very caring and loving with the children but also understanding with parents that have busy work schedules. The classrooms and outdoor playground are beautiful and welcoming. I cant recommend Childrens Place enough. Its a warm learning environment that really follows through with the Montessori curriculum.

I visted more than ten preschools. Finally we chose a childrens place. And my son loves it. The most impressive words ,Ms Karen told me was that dealing with childrens crying problem is their responsibility. Before joining in this school ,my son has no experience of day care or preschool .What makes it worse ,was that he did not speak English at all.We had a twenty minutes trial. They successfully calmed him down. Eventually ,my son got used to school days. After a week ,my son loved to go to school. The director Ms Karen is really a good educator. She is the one considers on the side of children. All the kids in the school love her most. They like to surround her when they have music class. She is capable of dealing with all kinds of students. Especially the stubborn and crying students. They have four rooms. One for dining ,and music, One for gym and nap. Others are classrooms. They also have a very big natural yard. Children can play football and ride bikes in the yard.

An interesting experience is how I would sum up my families experience. The director of A Children’s Place seemed a bit forward in her information sharing and almost seemed like a gossip the first time we engaged with her about 4 weeks ago (my wife and I are evaluating Montessori’s in the Farmington area). When we first met the director she elaborated on many off topic scenarios and seemed a bit scattered-brained. She described and went into detail about several students of hers that did not thrive vs. focusing on her students that have had success. I personally was initially turned off by her but her facility was great from the outside and she had great space for her classrooms. Fast forward to today, we decided to bring our little guy in and for the director to take him through her “assessment”. During his 20-30 min he was mildly (I place strong emphasis on mildly) distracted and interested in his surroundings. As we approached her outdoor area she stated he would not fit in her school. “He is not independent and easily distracted” which certainly holds some truth but what I could not shake in the moment of hearing her assessment was our interactions leading up to that moment. Allow me to explain 1.) This first day we met, she stated “I rarely ever turn a child away” unless there are severe behavior problems. 2.) In a phone conversation leading up to our assessment visit my wife as asked “are you white?” I thought that was a bit odd. In our 4-5 visits to Montessori schools I have picked up that in the area we are reviewing that ethnicities are widespread and the minority in the classroom is often white. By no means am I playing any type of race card here but gosh that just seemed like an odd question. 3.) The director preaches independence for her students and while we were onsite a child probably 1-2 years older than ours peed their pants, which is perfectly normal but I have to say it made me question her definition of independence. 4.) In addition to my previous point, she shamed the child, these were her exact words “ugh, not again, when are you going to learn?” Maybe that is the Montessori way but it seems a bit counter productive to me. 5.) one of her teachers had their phone out during our time there and she shamed her teacher “Put that phone away, we don’t do that during school hours that’s why Xxxxx is no longer here”. At that point I had seen and heard all I needed. The body language from her teacher was clear and I could almost hear the words in her head by her posture “you don’t say that when people are not here evaluating the school”. It felt like a very hypocritical situation. Director of A Children’s Place, if you read this, I encourage you to led by example and redirect/train your faculty in a one-on-one session, public shaming is not how things are done these days but again maybe that is the Montessori way, I’m still learning. Parents, I encourage you to listen and watch the signs. I learned plenty by watching and listening today. I think the days of a has-been to play judge, jury and executioner are over…but hey, maybe I’m a bit too critical, other ratings seem great, I simply suggest to proceed with caution.

This is coming from a parent whose 3 year old toddler is going to this Montessori since more than a year now. The Montessori, its facilities, programs, curriculum, activities and above all teachers are excellent. They provide good food too and above all helped us with integrating discipline to the kids life. The Montessori has become a family to us and we are delighted to be a part of it.

Childrens Place Montessori is the wonderful school I finally chose, after extensive research of the Montessori schools, in the Farmington area. My son will have been there only four months now and he absolutely loves going there and even wants to go in on the weekends. The teachers and staff are all very friendly and have managed to master the art of learning through play. They genuinely seem to focus on my childs overall development. The Childrens Place Montessori is a bright and happy school that I would highly recommend to everyone.

So much more than a preschool... our kids have grown tremendously - academically, emotionally, socially - in just a year at this wonderful place. Super committed and caring staff make us feel like the school is an extension of our own family.

Dedicated and very caring staff. The owner, who also runs the school, is a gifted educator of young children. The staff at the school have been a surrogate family to us since moving to Michigan four years ago.The facility is updated and clean and fully equipped for a great Montessori learning experience. I was particularly impressed by the space, separate rooms for gym, lunch and music. (Most of the preschools in the Oakland area are too cramped; kids do every activity in one very small classroom). A childrens place was unique in its spaciousness. The playground out back is amazingly equipped and blends into the natural scape of the back yard. Absolute best! We visited nine preschools when we moved here from Europe, and were quite concerned with what we were seeing until we found A Childrens Place.

My daughter is going to this school from last 2.5 yrs and we are continuing for 1 more year for her Kindergarten this year at Childrens Place. We just love this school for so many different reasons. We think they are doing a great job in finding the balance between education and playtime. All the teachers The are loving and caring; they always take the time to answer any question we might have. But we also love this school for all the things they do for us, the parents: Celebrating Mothers Day and Fathers Day, performing a Christmas Play and end of school year concert, to name just a few of them. We are very greatful for those special memories Childrens Place is giving to us. Something we will never forget.Building is very spacious and ventilated well and also nice playground in back yard with enough shadow in hot summer.I am extremely happy with this school and highly recommend to parents.
