I came into FSM with some existing guitar experience. I had been playing for about 10 years, but only in the sense that I knew chords and could string them together into something roughly resembling music. Ive been at FSM for about a year, and I feel like Ive grown significantly -- not only as a guitarist, but as a musician. The instructor (Terry) has helped me bridge the gap between playing guitar and ACTUALLY playing guitar.

I have had the great fortune of connecting with the Flagstaff School of Music through their incredible community partnership. Terry, Bonnie, the instructors and students are always ready to lend a hand and provide music at charity events. The students have fantastic stage presence - a true testament to the dedication and mentoring by the staff. The school itself is inviting and encourages musical expression from the time you step through the door. Flagstaff School of Music is also a one-stop-shop when seeking music-for-hire. Terry and Emily played at my daughters wedding (guitar and violin) and it was beautiful and magical. The school and the instructors are, without a doubt, a valuable asset to the community.

Their passion for teaching and sharing music is obvious, and they do a great job of encouraging their students to learn and grow. I started by sending my kids to the Flagstaff School of Music, and they loved it. Years later, Terry Alan inspired me to start taking guitar lessons as an adult. And, I simply love it. I find the lesson to be relaxing. Hes low-key and lets me learn at my own pace. Im slowly learning and finding a love for music at the same time. I HIGHLY recommend taking music lessons at this music school

After years of self-taught experiences with drumming, I decided it was time to take lessons and challenge myself with the help of somebody more proficient than myself. Through Terri, I was recommended to take lessons through Joe Sweet. In two months of lessons, Joe has helped me work on posture, stick-grip, awareness on the kit, breaking down fundamental concepts, challenged me to progress in the musical styling that I originally approached the school with (jazz), and more. No matter the age, or skill level, Joe is a definite recommendation to anybody looking to learn more on the drums.

Terry is a great instructor! He is super talented at guitar and bass. I love his calm demeanor and he is always respectful no matter what your skill level is. Great for beginners like me.

I really enjoy being a Guitar and Beginner Piano Instructor at Flagstaff School of Music, especially Group Guitar! The family atmosphere is conducive to simulate students into an extended family. The School is geared toward performance which builds confidence and poise in the student, experience that will pay off in any career down the road. The regular live casual performances during the Eastside Show at The White Dove Coffee Shop next door is a lot of fun for the student and family. You are in business for yourself but not by yourself. Bonnie and Terry, the owners, can truly say they have walked in your shoes and they know just how to help you grow your own business within a business. I highly recommend the school for any Instructor, whether it is guitar, piano, voice, drums or any other musical instrument!

I started taking music lessons about 8 months ago, never having played anything before. I really never considered myself musical, and I couldnt even read music, but Terry is really patient and Im so happy with my progress! FSM is very accommodating with schedules, offers a variety of instruments to learn, and the teachers are very talented, accommodating, and SO good at what they do! Highly recommend :) Its such a stress free environment to learn in, Im so grateful!

Terry is so great with new students-encourages them to play songs they love while teaching them the basics. He clearly loves what he does and the kids respond!

My daughter was in semi private lessons, and now private guitar lessons with Terry. She looks forward to it every week, and has progressed rapidly. Totally recommend lessons here!

I have spent the first 62 years of my life without any musical background, training, or experience. This year I decided it was my time to learn to play the guitar. I have been very fortunate to find Terry and the Flagstaff School of Music to guide me on this journey. Learning any new skill can be intimidating and frustrating. The experience of venturing out to learn and explore with Terry as my teacher has been remarkable. Terry and the entire staff always make me feel welcome, safe, and comfortable. The talent that exudes from this music school is remarkable. Our family happily drives an hour to Flagstaff from Sedona so my daughters can take guitar lessons with Terry Allen and vocal lessons with Joe Dingman. They have learned so much since they started at the school in January, and they are both eager to see their instructors each week. I havent yet had the pleasure of hearing Terry play, but my daughter said he is one of the best musicians she has ever heard. It is wonderful to be at a school where my daughters receive such devoted attention. Thank you, Terry, Bonnie and Joe. Our family has had a great amount of music instruction over the years, and the Flagstaff School of Music is definitely one of the best.
