OKAY. Despite all previous negative comments, Im having a great experience and as far as caring goes.. teachers wont care for you if you wont care for your work. Thats just how it goes. This isnt high school its college. And for more generalized information this school was South West Florida College until it was bought out by a private institution and then was name Southern Technical College. So yes the price is more, its what you expect if youd put your child in a private school; it would be more extra. So Im sorry I do not agree with any comments. Financial representatives were amazing and still continue to be. And personally my teachers where there for me. They were always very lenient and gave credit when its due. I cannot speak for any program other than Criminal Justice. I never had any problems. =)

At first i was really nervous about coming to this school because i have been out of school for 11 years and was not sure if i was ready to do this. But after being here for the last 3 moths i have gained enough confidence in myself to go ahead and better my future for myself and my family. and the teachers and staff are excellent here i have had no problems so far.

The staff and faculty at this college are extremely professional and proficient. They have a selfless-service attitude, always putting their students needs first and constantly helping out students. I will definitely recommended any prospective students to enroll in this outstanding institution!

I am a nursing instructor here at Southern Tech - Ft. Myers. This is an amazing place. Not the fanciest maybe, but big enough to have great technology, yet small enough to care and receive personalized attention by a nursing professors who give 100% to their students success. We have enrollment cohorts four times a year, so no long waiting lists, and you dont have to have a 4.0 to chase your dream career in nursing - we will work with you - and if you really want it and really work for it... we will get you there! Our school is filled with hopes and dreams and through lots of hard work and dedication we have successfully made a difference to students of many different ages, races, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and provided our community with many highly qualified registered nurses. Its 22 months, but if you really want to be a nurse, this is where you can make it happen:)

I love this school! I have not had one bad experience with the teachers or any of the staff. When I first came to the school to check it out I was super nervous, but they walked me through the whole campus showing me all the classrooms and explaining how everything goes. Once I saw all of that I was so excited to get started!!!I would totally recommend this college for anyone who’s looking to further their career. They really do care about the students and work with us to make sure we pass our classes and get the good grades that we deserve 😊I’m about to graduate from the Medical Assisting program with straight A’s. I have seen negative reviews that do not make sense to me, these people are great and give credit where it’s due. Before you judge this place from other people’s bad reviews, give it a try yourself!

STC is a wonderful school to help you achieve your goal to become a Nurse. The teachers and staff give there all, so the students can be their best. I would recommend anyone who is seriously looking in becoming a Registered Nurse, to allow Southern Technical College to train and prepare you.

Future interior design students please stop and read this review. Stay as far away from this school as you possibly can. I gave a 1 star but it doesn’t even deserve that. When I started the program we were told we would be able to get a bachelors program, they got rid of that. I thought ok no problem I will just transfer to another school and finish my degree. Nope! Come to find out HALF WAY THROUGH the design program at southern technical college it is NOT AN ACCREDITED PROGRAM! So I can never go on to get a bachelor degree. We have had bad teacher after bad teacher. We had one professor that didn’t know how to teach us the material of the class he was put in charge of. We have complained many times but the staff at this school don’t care even the slightest bit for the design students. The drafting tables were bubbles up and needed replacing, the design room computers half of them don’t work, the list literally goes on and on with the issues. They are ripping the design students off by charging an astronomical amount of money and we are NOT learning what we should be and we do NOT have teachers that know how to teach us. I am supposed to graduate in March 2018 and I have stayed quiet about this school for so long but I can’t anymore. I see new design students and I want to tell them to run for the hills. Please if someone higher up is reading this (not at the Fort Myers campus) please do something about the way this program is being run. By the way for anyone reading this I am not one to complain but I am sick of being ignored by staff and being ripped off for the thousands and thousands of dollars I am spending to be apart of this program.

I am a student and employee of Southern Technical College and love the family feel each campus brings to the table. Several years back I fell in love with academics and though I spent time on other campuses I knew my home base was Fort Myers. Their continued growth of their Surg Tech, Nursing, and Medical Assistant programs is impeccable as it allows the students to experience a hands on approach. As a fully online student, I am pleased with the changes to their Online LMS platform as they continue to strive for excellence.

Great Campus Environment, Instructors care at a high level great support throughout all departments, Students are committed to their success which has had a great impact on certification and NCLEX pass rates. Ultimately, if you want to streamline your education that results in transitioning to your career, STC is a great option!

Amazing school! Almost done with my Medical Assisting Program and every teacher I have had has gone above and beyond for me and helping me when Im struggling with my studies... If anyone has anything bad to say about this school, its because of their own personal issues of why they did not succeed at this school. I am in my last class and am graduating with straight As! If you put in the time and effort to study and be here, then there is no reason to not succeed and if you didnt do those things, then you are 100% responsible for your failures, not the teachers, not this school. This school is great! Im not even done and Ive already had interview offers and the women in career services help you ready yourself for interviews, help you create your resume and help with setting up interviews, they even provide nice clothes for you if you can not afford to buy your own! This school goes above and beyond for the students here. The accept financial aide and stupdent loans AND THEY ARE ACCREDITED!!!! Not as expensive as most schools! Im glad I chose this school and greatful to be able to better myself with them helping me achieve my goals! Thank you Southern Tech!!!

I just enrolled in the Surgical Tech program and I start on January 7th! SO far the entire facility has been nothing but friendly. I truly want to thank Courtney in admissions for all her help she is kind and patient, and Hunter in Financial aid! My only complain would be the front desk is not always friendly. But otherwise if anyone is considering a school I would highly recommend Southern Technical College.

Horrible management and very awful place to work. The DOA, Kathleen snook, is young, in experienced, unprofessional and lacks the ability to lead a team. She is petty and vindictive and sends nasty emails. I would not recommend working here or going to school here. Stay as far away from this place as possible and read reviews before you accept a position because what they say is true. Favoritism is big and you might not think that matters until as a rep your numbers are affected by it. You will be treated poorly and expected “to work with a sense of urgency”. They say you only have to work 1 Saturday a month but that turns into 4. There is a very high turn over rate, 8 people quit in a span of 6 months.There is a reason the school is struggling financial and worried about keeping the lights on. You can’t trust anyone and everyone gossips. They pay well but you are subjected to harassment, bullying, and extreme stress form Kathleen Snook and Alex Rodriguez. The unfair treatment and threats is a law suit waiting to happen. Spare yourself and do not work here I wish I would have listens to the reviews.

I highly recommend this school to further your education! The staff is knowledgeable and they care about their students.

Southern Technical College in Ft. Myers, Florida is dedicated to serving their community which includes a major portion of Lee and Collier Counties . Lead by Mr. Alex Rodriguez Executive Director and Mr. Esmail Dariarow Director of Education, the staff and faculty at Southern Tech takes a personal interest in the success of each of their students. A small college with less than 500 in attendance, the students at Southern Tech are treated more like people and less like numbers.

I use to have respect for this school but they are a joke. I requested my transcript be sent to the school I’m trying to attend and Hunter took my money for the official transcript and guess who still can’t finish her enrollment b/c of this schools failure to sent out my transcript. Just b/c I’m not attending this school they can careless that I can’t pay for my classes bc my financial aid is on hold bc of this school. My education means nothing to these ppl so they are ignoring my calls. I called yesterday which is exactly a week after they had taken my money and Hunter is extremely unprofessional bc she will not return my call. Then I called again today and guess what Hunter did not return my call again. Her professionalism is a joke. I left a voicemail stating I needed a call back or I’ll be forced to bring charges against this school for stealing my money, holding my official transcript hostage and impeding my enrollment process so I will lose out on going to school this year. Do not give these ppl any of your money and God forbid you need your transcript you are out of luck. But I will continue to put a review in everyday I get ignored so everyone will know exactly what this school is about. How do you educate students if you lack integrity and professionalism . Shame on you Hunter who is I’m charge of financial aid and knows how important a transcript really is. I will continue to exhaust all my avenues to be sure this NEVER HAPPENS TO ANOTHER STUDENT!!! Shame on you Southern Tech for not doing the right thing!!!!!!!!

After thoroughly researching the school, including the very low retention rate, I would recommend against going to SWFL College. When I interviewed with the counselor, they treated me like a simpleton being sold a product. It costs more than FGCU, the nearest university. Also, Edison is right down the road and really cares about its students. They are successful enough to not try to push students in an disadvantageous financial or educational direction.

SWFC or Southern Technical College campus in Tampa is just getting worse and worse, some teachers are great but the faculty and staff sucks and never there to help. cant wait to be done with it already. I DO NOT RECOMMEND.

If I could rate this with 0 stars I would. I once was a student at this college and went to their nursing program. (Ft. Myers, FL. campus), but I got withdrawn from the program. When I went there they had this “try out” phase, where even if you scored low on the HESI? They allowed you to go in the program but the catch was, say you had a low score in Math like I did? They made me retake my college algebra class (which at my previous school? I already passed with a “B”) but they said, no you have to retake college algebra and go to the tutoring sessions. I did all of that I passed the class AGAIN and went to tutoring. If you did both, then you were allowed to retake the HESI. If you did not pass you got withdrawn from the program, which unfortunately is why I got withdrawn. It was the same for people who scored low on the reading, language, and the english portion. They would make you retake English even if you passed the class.If you failed college algebra or English depending on your test scores? Or didn’t have enough tutoring session hours you wouldn’t be allowed to take the HESI.Here we are 1-2 years later and all of a sudden they started only enrolling previous students including myself to get into their nursing program. (What does it say about the school itself? Only calling students who were previously enrolled and not accepting new students) (I also found out at one point they weren’t accredited. My friend who went there said some of the teachers changed in the middle of the semester and the accreditation agency’s would stop by the campus every so once in awhile. She was able to pass, but they made her retake 2 classes. She already passed even if she got a “C” in them. Their program? As with all programs is rigorous. You are not allowed to get C’s in your sciences or nursing core other wise you have to retake them. Their test average required you to have a 80 not only grade wise but on your tests. Had I gone back retook the HESI and passed? I would be in my second semester right now, but I would have to retake microbiology ALL OVER again because I got a “C” in it. All other nursing programs require a 2.75 or 3.0 with a “C” or better. They would’ve gotten more money from me if I went back.The price if you had no credits when I went there was at first $51,000. (Luckily I had enough credits to lower the tuition to $28,000) When they called me back it only dropped down to $49,000.The admissions director, told me they were “phasing out the program” meaning that after this year’s class graduates, they wouldn’t be continuing with it. They would just offer the other ones they had)I’m not saying this is a bad school, but I wouldn’t go back I knew not to go back considering the price was just too hefty but I wanted to go back to see what the admissions director would say.The price for a FOR-PROFIT school and for the program is just way too much!! There were little things that crawled under my skin. Like having to retake a class I ALREADY passed? Just cause of my test score they made me retake my college algebra class and didn’t want to accept the credit I already earned at my previous school. This was just two little things that were just ridiculous in my eyes!! I would steer clear from this school and look for credible nursing schools. There are TONS of nursing school programs out in Florida that give you an excellent education for a lower price.Maybe every campus for Southern? The pricing may be or not be the same, but the Ft. Myers campus even though everybody was friendly? They wanted your money anyway they could. Even if you passed your general ed classes.If you want to go to school to pay that much for their nursing program and you think you can handle it? By all means, go for it. But beware about FOR-PROFIT schools. In the end it’s just a business.

So thankful for them allowing their facility to be used by health professionals to get credentialing on a Saturday. Thank you

SWFC 09/2010 to 06/2012after graduation I elected to tranfer to another local school. You did get alot of hands on (depending on your major) As an IT student I had job exp before I graduation.SWFC is private and may see a little ruff around the edges. inside the college many staff and professors will help you and support if you act mature and give 100% to your education. Now it is Southern Tech.

I wish i would have read all these comments before i signed up.. at first it all seem good, except that i had to pay about 200.00 a month while i was there. i only went for 1 semester, because i couldnt afford it anymore. it didnt make sence to me why i had to pay them while im there and when i finished i still had a debt with the governement. i left to hodges univeristy and that was the best decision ever. years later i am still paying them off because they will not release your trancripts until you pay them off!!!! horrible horrible horrible!! do not go to this school!!!

Apparently the MARKETING for Southwest Florida College is inticing, but I must warn you that this North Port Campus was absolutely UNETHICAL in the 2010 Graduating year for the Surgical Tech Certification. I have been told they have changed their Accredidation for 2012, which should be a BIG RED FLAG !!!! Previous to this change, SWF did not insure that the students had enough case logs that were REQUIRED by the NCCT for Certification upon Graduation. When questioned about the inability for the student to GRADUATE with the NCCT Certification, the response was : YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE CERTIFIED TO WORK AS A SURG TECH IN FLORIDA !!! . Why did we spend $28,000 for a CERTFICATION COURSE if NO CERTIFICATION was required ???? Why did SWF ALLOW the 11 week Externship to result in only 60 case logs with a total of 22 days of attendance. It was IMPOSSIBLE for the students to complete the PROMISED 150 Case Logs at the local Hospital since they only were scheduled 2 days per week...DO NOT BOTHER TO LOOK INTO SWF. It has been 2 YEARS NOW & I am still hearing horror stories about how persuasive they are in trying to get you to enroll in their other courses due to a lack of Hospital Sites for the Externship Requirements. When I questioned the program & threatened legal action, after Graduation, arrangements were reluctantly made for my daughter to complete an additional Externship for an additional $ 2,000 tuition fee. Hopefully the Certification Board will review the records from 2010-2012 & see the lack of required documentation SWF failed to keep in the students record.

I would not recommend this school to anyone. They portray themselves as a school that teach what the Employers want but what I find funny is alot of places will not hire you if you have a degree from Southwest Florida College and yes I have been told this to my face. Not only are they expensive but once your in they could care less about you or your studies. I called SCF and was told that my Criminal Justice Degree is completely useless. I spent alot of time, money and effort into my degree to be told that it is completely USELESS. I will say that alot of the teachers there are the best of the best but the higher ups are severly lacking any compation or professionalism. Please do yourself a favor and GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. I beg of you I shouldve realized that everyone who was jumping ship had a good reason to do so. I am paying off my full balance to Southwest Florida College getting my transcripts and my degree from them and going to Edison. I CANT WAIT TO BE DONE WITH SOUTHWEST FLORIDA COLLEGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great campus with excellent educational opportunities

Being employed by Southern Tech for the past two and a half years, I have seen the school grow. We all work together as a team to see our students succeed.

Transcripts requests are ridiculous. For somewhere called a technical college, you cant request your transcripts online like a normal college. You have to call and they will call you back in 48 hours. It has been almost a week with no call back.

Its all a scam! They even changed their name to Southern Technical Institute... I attended Southwest Florida College with the hopes of transferring to USF. By the time I finished my first year, i found out that none of my credits were transferable. They assured me! We work with Universities all over!. Every 2 or 3 weeks, i was sent to financial aid to sign packets of papers. I couldnt attend class until I signed them. I tested out of every college class they offered (Math, English, etc.) ,and they told me that i still had to pay for those classes. Now they want my student loans paid back.
