This is a good testing site- the people are very polite and helpful! It was very easy to find as well! The things I didnt like was the computer didnt let you scroll with the keyboard, you had to use a mouse! When you have several people in a silent room clicking a mouse, its very distracting. And one of the women was saying her questions out loud (they provided earbuds) but to me (add) it was very hard to concentrate. It really wasnt the best place to take a test in but it was alright for people who dont mind little things. Personally I would do better at a testing site with maybe some classical music playing to cancel out that noise! Happy testing!!

I cant say enough about Marcair. I talked with several flight schools in the DFW area and Marcair without a doubt prepares you to be a safe real world pilot. The detailed curriculum each student is required to go through is above reproach. If you want to be a well prepared pilot I cant stress Marcair enough. Ive had the pleasure of working with Levi and hes been a great instructor. Each stage check has been thorough with Chief pilots Gilbert and Brooks. Ground school you say??? Their staff (Jonathan was great!) is very knowledgable and ready to get you schooled up! When it comes to dispatch, Shannon, Bobby, Tara and a big shout out to Austin are all there to work with you in every way. Everyone else Ive met has been just as friendly. Youll be doing yourself a favor to check out Marcair! What are you waiting for????? Go Fly!

I’m an ATP-rated pilot myself and sent my son to this flight school. I’m sorry I did. Marcair isn’t so much a flight school as a magic show school that’s really good at making your money disappear. This flight school also isn’t really interested in your success. I’d describe it more as ambivalent. You will do your training one way... their way (which isn’t always in your best interest). Don’t expect a lot of communication either. You will drive to the airport with no communication only to discover your flight instructor either canceled your lesson or otherwise has an excuse to not fly...but you will get ground school (and all the associated charges for said ground school). Somehow all of this will be your fault. In fact everything that goes wrong will be your fault. I’m in the pilot training business myself (at a higher level) and I have spoken to many others that have had the exact same experience, so it’s not just me. I’d give them 1/2 a star if that was possible.

Good school with a detailed course that prepares its students extremely well. I got my Private Pilot from here, and loved every minute of my training. My instructor Paul was a very good teacher and taught me well! I get compliments on my flying all the time.

The bureaucrat’s flight school...If you want to have little control over when your flight lessons are scheduled then come here. You will not be able to work directly with your instructor to schedule flights and your schedule will be determined by dispatchers who act as a barrier for everything including simply walking to a training room to meet your instructor when you enter the building. Also be prepared to spend plenty of time on the ground with your instructor going over things you already learned in your study program at home which of course you will be charged for.

If youre looking for a good flight school to learn to fly where they know your name, if getting more flight time rather than ground time is important to you, and if you want good planes to learn in you should consider Marcair. This flight school is located on a small private airport and because of this location youll get more time in the air rather than sitting on the ground at a busy congested airport waiting to take off. I recieved my Private, Instrument, Commercial and Flight Instructor Certificate from Marcair and I am a frequent visitor of Marcair and Northwest Regional Airport. Choosing the right school to learn to fly is important and you should do your homework, but if youre ready to start flying I hope youll give Marcair a visit.

Id like to balance out this review section a little bit, because I dont think Marcair deserves only these two rather scathing reviews and one five-star review with no comments.I did my instrument rating at Marcair in 2012-2013 and continue to rent from them. I came to Northwest Regional from Denton Municipal, where I had been renting from U.S. Aviation previously. What initially attracted me was that Marcairs fleet was much newer than U.S. Aviations - all the Skyhawks are 2006 or newer, and two of them have G1000 glass cockpits. Another thing I liked was that the flight school itself was much smaller. After just a few weeks, most of the staff and instructors recognized me, and Glenn and Dave at the front desk knew me by name. I appreciate little things like that. (They even put my name on the front page of their website when I finished my instrument rating! That was nice.) Ive also been to FAA Safety Seminars at Marcair, which they host fairly regularly. I like how engaged they are in the local aviation community. As far as Northwest Regional Airport is concerned, it can be a challenge if youve never flown in or out of a strip that small. Theres a hill on the north end, a grove of trees on the south end, fences, lots of hangars, cars driving around, etc. I had grown accustomed to the 150 wide runway up at KDTO and 52F was a real wake-up call. Its not dangerous (as the other commenter here said), its just challenging. Youve got to not be afraid to go-around, believe me. My instructor gave me a bunch of great tips about how to take off and land there safely, though. My piloting skills have definitely improved thanks to 52F.Now, of course, there are a few things I didnt like. They have a pretty poor selection of loaner headsets. I honestly wouldnt mind paying $5 or $10 an hour to rent a good headset. Some of the Skyhawks I flew had some visible wear and tear - doors that opened and closed poorly, dents and dings in the leading edges of the wings, etc. For the Skyhawks being only 6-8 years old, youd think theyd be in better condition cosmetically. Also, youve got to keep your eyes open during your preflight walk-around. One time I was given the keys to a plane and I found some cowling screws laying on the step on the side of the nose. Some airplanes have persistently inoperable components (nothing that makes them illegal to fly, but for example one Skyhawk was limited to day VFR for months and months because the magnetometer in the wing was broken). I know of a place nearby that rents a nearly pristine 2012 model Skyhawk for just a little more per hour.Overall, I would recommend Marcair to someone who lived in the northwest DFW area. Every place Ive ever rented airplanes from has had its positives and negatives, and Ive rented from Marcair for about 1.5 years now for a reason. A friendly, modest flight school with pretty fair prices where people know your name!

Watch your wallet and your bills when you deal with Marcair. Last straw for me was when I found $2500 of extra fees hidden in an insurance repair. Another time picked up my aircraft which was all signed off and it wouldn’t start. The mags were misclocked at 90 and 270 degrees causing terrible backfires, and the carb heat control jammed hot upon first use (the engine was apparently never run by the mechanic signing it off.) They did a 100 hour inspection that should have been the annual and then told me the next month that an annual was due. The aircraft was then down for more than a month to do the annual because they couldn’t get an IA. Their IA had a job at another company and was getting to mine only when he had the chance. The same IA was working on another aircraft in the same hangar as mine while my 100 hour was being done (the one I thought was the annual – given the IA was right there.) Both maddening and sad to see what used to be a good company go this way.

Takes days to get a response from scheduling an airplane don’t think they check their emails often.
