Outstanding place to learn karate. Professional staff and the owner teaches classes himself. I have my children here for 2 years can they both say it is great.

My 5 year old son started in American TKD Academy about 5 month ago and has loved it. I noticed that just after 2 weeks my son was more focused, confident and respectful. After attending class for 3 month his twin sister wanted to join and I also signed her up. She also loves the classes and I have also noticed a change in her confidence and she has been much more respectful.Both instructors are amazing and the class schedules are awesome.You dont have to be assigned to one certain day of the week and are able to come as many days as you want. They only recommend you to come at least twice a week. I bring my kids 3 times a week and they love it.I recommend this place to all my family and friends.Thank You American TKD Acamedy

We have been enrolled at American TKD Academy for 10 months and our son, Aaron, has really enjoyed it. Mr. Williams and Ms. Kendall are wonderful with the kids. Very awesome instructors! They take the time to teach the students based on their individual learning abilities and levels! They make sure the students have fun and learn martial arts.

It is a great school! My daughter likes it very much. She keeps asking to bring her more often for lessons. And I could see improvements in her behavior almost right away. During a lesson she is focused, listening to her coaches and following their instructions. All coaches are very knowledgeable and friendly, always open for communication. They are trying to find an approach for every child, maintaining orderly but fun learning environment.

I have been a member of American TKD Academy for about 7 years now. My son started 8 years ago and I saw an increase in focus and confidence. Then I joined. He is now a black belt and so am I. My youngest is now a Brown belt and also enjoying enhanced focus, discipline, respect and success. Cant give the place enough stars. The staff is excellent and the experience is too. My 10 year old son started Martial arts here nearly 4 months ago and we couldnt be happier. Mark and Ms. Kendall are both excellent instructors and very structured. We originally enrolled my son to emphasize our beliefs and values. This academy does that reinforcement. My son has progressed quite quickly and will be on his third level belt next month. His confidence has definitely improved as well. I would recommend this academy for your child if you want them with like minded children or simply need a little more structure in their day.

We really love this place! Mr. Williams and Ms. Kendall are great - they require respect and attention yet make class fun and teach a lot of skills. I personally really like the self defense training and love the student creed. My daughter is learning real, useful techniques as well as general principles to help her be more confident in herself.

Both of my kids have attended classes here for years. They both developed more patience, discipline, self confidence and self control. After years of sitting on the sidelines and watching, I finally took the step and signed myself up. Having never done any time of real exercise, I started training at age 50. I never realized how much stamina, flexibility and mobility, I had lost until I began. I am feeling much better now!

I am very happy to have my 2 kids at American TKD. Nicolas is eager to learn every time he goes. I have noticed that he is more organized and confident. I cant say enough about American TKD Academy. The classes are well organized, the instructors are great, and the variable schedule of classes make it easy to plan on having your kids attend multiple classes per week. Mr. Williams keeps the classes fun and engaging, is wonderful with the kids, and not shy to instill discipline in the students when theyre acting silly in class. Im thrilled at the progress I see in my son, when he addresses his elders by sir and maam, and his enthusiasm to attend class. Kudos!

My son loves his classes at the American Martial Arts academy, all thanks to the excellent instructors, Mr. Williams and Ms. Kendall. He is very motivated and disciplined to attend his classes and I personally like the way the kids are taught not only how to defend themselves physically but also become tough mentally and show respect to others.

My son has been attending for a year now. Over that year I’ve seen him progress from a very quiet, reserved boy to a kid who is more confident and able to advocate for himself. He’s lost 15 pounds, has become more focused despite his ADD, become stronger and his excitement to grow in these skills has not waned. The owner Mark, along with the other instructors, have taken my son’s needs into account and show genuine patience and guidance not just in learning Tae Kwon Do but in what kind of person he should be as well. As a former student of TKD as a kid as well, AMAA has a better learning philosophy for younger kids to keep them motivated and interested than I had growing up. I really appreciate this school and would highly recommend.

My son has been a student as American Tae Kwon Do Academy for five years. Mr. Williams and Mr. Spiropolous are incredibly patient teachers who are not only dedicated to the growth of each individual student, but act as mentors as well. Through the years, I have watched as my sons confidence has increased as well as his strength - both mentally and physically. My seven year old started about three months ago and loves going. They do a good job keeping the kids involved and interested while teaching. The instructors seem to truly like what they do and like the kids. They know each child by name and treat the kids with the same level of respect that they expect from the child.

Im VERY PLEASED with this academy! The instructors are FABULOUS!! Very patient and attentive to each student. They are always assessing and assisting the student to ensure they are where they need to be. I cant say enough good things about them!

Wonderful instructors that have mastered the art themselves and are working hard to teach it and make the students work hard. I have been known to quit many things I decide to begin, but because of this place Tae Kwon Do is thankfully not one of them. Lots of necessities taught here too!

We started our son on the program with the goal of giving him a way to gain focus that would also teach him respect for himself and others. With almost a year in the program we can, with confidence, say that he has gain so much more. Mrs. S. and Mr. Williams have taken teaching martial arts to a new level by teaching concepts like goals and how to set them. Definitely a place for kids of all ages.

We first signed up under one of their promotional programs and thought we would be done after the initial 6 weeks but my boys loved it so much we had to continue. We did a quick comparison of area TKD options and nothing compares even closely. Its obvious both Mr. Williams and Mr. S take pride in what they do. They recognize and know all the kids names before the first class and continue to make sure that each child gets the attention and care needed. They are able to balance the strictness for discipline while making sure the class is fun. An extra bonus is that the place is super clean and organized which helps that much more in our otherwise chaotic lives!

I have been a student here for the past 7 years. I can honestly say that the instructors have the amazing ability to challenge students of any age or initial skill level. Most importantly, they have a way of bringing out and developing the best in each student while keeping the classes fun. I have no intention of ever quitting!

This company gives you all the tools to become a self defense master. The training is so good and perfect for beginners. I high;y recommend his to anyone interested in becoming a true ninja.

Our daughter loves going to AMerican TKD Academy. It helped her with responsibility - her gear is hers, and she needs to keep it clean and know where it is; listening skills - if she does not listen to the instructor, she will not get it right and have to work harder; real-life rewards - based on her work and effort - belts and stripes must be earned. The last one is very important as all too often kids receive rewards just for attending or being there.The place is nicely organized, clean and doesn’t have any funky smell like othe gyms we visited while shopping for marshal arts place to sign up for.

I started when I was 5, and I am a brown belt at the age of 9. I love going to classes with my masters at American TKD Academy. They teach me how to defend myself against strangers and they discuss good attitude, friendship and goals. I think any kid would be lucky to come to classes here. I am!!!

I have been taking classes at American Tae Kwon Do Academy for almost 12 years now, since just after they first opened. I started TKD as an adult, primarily just as a way to stay in shape, but once I started I found that it was tons of fun. The head instructors, Mr. Spiropoulos and Mr. Williams, are great to train with. They teach with a good balance between pushing hard for students to improve while also respecting peoples differing skill levels and physical abilities. The camaraderie among the students is great and the families are as much a part of the academy as the students. Now my daughters are also training at American Tae Kwon Do Academy, and my wife is even taking the fitness kickboxing classes. I highly recommend classes here to anyone of any age!

We could not be happier with American TKD Academy! Our 6-year-old son has attended classes twice a week for 10 months now and we have seen great improvement in his behavior, including with respect for adults, listening, and ability to follow direction. He used to interrupt adults when they were speaking and he quickly discovered this is not ok because of his instruction at TKD. (Thank you!) He is getting great exercise and he loves the classes. The key to all this is the incredible instructors. Mr. Williams and Ms. Kendal both have the perfect blend of toughness and compassion that inspires students to excel—the best style of leadership there is. The other parents and students have been friendly as well. I imagine we will be coming here for many years. We can’t wait for our younger son to be old enough to join! Oh, I almost forgot to say how much I love the “student creed” that is repeated at the close of each class. It’s perfect.

I signed up my two boys (4-6) for a super special in this karate academy (now I understand why there are so many specials)It was my kids first karate class ever, And I though it would be a great way to start, so they can have fun and burn off some energy. The instructors were so boring and strict, my kids started getting bored and having difficulties focusing on the instructor’s long and boring instructions, so the instructor started getting mad at them and mistreating and screaming at them, like they hate kids, to the point that my boys felt intimidated and scared by these two terrible instructors. To the point where my boys come to sit next to me and did not want to continue the class. I’m feeling very frustrated. How do they expect five year old’s to stay still?PARENTS BE AWARE : These people don’t have the skills to connect with children they show no positive reinforcement, and no positive environment for kids.I doubt all positive reviews here are real.

My son attended the American Tae Kwon Do Academy for over two years. Mr. Williams and Mr. Spiropolous were not only great teachers, but were great mentors to my son. They have taught him about dedication, perseverance, and encouraged confidence and humility. They have such respect for the art of Taekwondo and the philosophies behind it and you could see how passionate they were about their students achievements within the academy and outside of it. If you have any child, of any age, I would highly recommend them.

My younger brother went through their kids Martial Arts program and he has never seemed happier and healthier. He comes home every night and practices everything he has learned, and raves about the teachers. They seem to all have a really great way of motivating him to get fit and say active. I love seeing him come home to really push himself more and do more then just sit on the couch. Its so great to see him motivated and up again. There is not a single person who should not try to put their kids into these programs. They will not disappoint.

The American TKD Academy is one of the best things I signed up for! I wanted to learn ways to protect myself in case of an emergency. Not only do I know the steps, but Im losing weight and meeting life long friends! I highly recommend checking them out :)

My daughter started TKD at American Tae Kwon Do several years ago after having a terrible experience at another studio. The instructors at ATKD were very supportive and encouraging and offered my daughter the opportunity to succeed. She went from zero confidence/very low self esteem to being a confident and enthusiastic learner - and it shows in other aspects of her life. In her third year she’s paying attention to details, listening, practicing and working hard. Mr. Williams and Ms. Kendall are both so great with kids of all ages. The ages of participants ranges from teeny tiny tikes through teens - mine just turned 11.The focus at ATKD is on the whole child and not just on performing martial arts. The kids learn the “why” rather than just being told to “do it!”. Form and function are taught. The kids must get it right to advance (as in other studios), and they all eventually do get it right without feeling like they were bullied or demeaned. This is a great place where strong athletic kids and, as in my case, kids who aren’t naturally athletic, can both succeed.Come in and talk to other parents and watch a class... my daughter has really thrived!!

They teach you martial arts that will help you in real life. In other words they dont just teach you a sport they teach you a survival skill.

We have been attending TKD for a year now and my children love going. The level of instructions are great and the instructors are great as well.My son has ADHD and we do not use medication, since he has started TKD I have seen a great improvement in is ability to focus is school and at home. He has more self discipline and confidence in himself. I contribute much of this to the instructors. We have done other martial arts programs and they were not able to accomplish what these guys have done!!I would highly recommend American Tae Kwon Do Academy of Kentlands to anyone!!
