As per today, my mother went into the institute to get a hair cut and some styling and she was a consistent client. Due to the student not listening to the full instructions of the client, they messed up her hair at the point where she tried to point it out. The student involved her administrator and told her that my mother was threatening her. (Mind you that she’s an elementary teacher)This situation was escalated out of control and she had the worst hair do including the wastage of 5 hours plus the expenses. I would be highly obliged if the company looked over their faculty and staff and their customer service to be improved. Sadly to say this, but having my mothers moral down due to this situation, really shows how of a bad customer service the staff is providing. I’ll be appreciative if this situation and this review can be further taken into consideration. I have attached the pictures below of her hair do. Thank you!

I am so sorry to see that our children are being taught by certain people that have nothing to offer in the line of people skills. I have been a patron of this school for quite a while, I suppose I was blessed to have only come in contact with the top students, because my last experience was with a little Mexican girl, I was told that I had allow her to do my hair. I let her and my hair turned out, badly. Well they still expected me to pay for it, I was threatened to have the police to be called, and they were. But the the Executive office took me into his office. I want my money returned to me.

It was my first time but it Will not be my last. My stylist name was Kayla and she was Awesome.

Very nice facility. I am an Esthetician Instructor, and was touring the Institute. Absolutely impressed with the cleanliness of the school. I know how messing Cosmetology and Esthetic students can be (Ive been there🤭) The students were cleaning shelves and neat looking in appearance. The staff was extremely helpful and professional. I would rate them 10 stars if I could. Great atmosphere

Sophia is literally the best of the best. Not only does she know what she’s doing, and is confident in it, she‘ll still takes the extra time to double check with her superiors and yourself to confirm everything before moving forward. She really makes you feel comfortable, and she also continues to communicate and explain for you every step along your process. I went from virgin black asian hair to an icy iridescent blonde, and she was immediately honest with how the healthiest way to achieve that would take more than one session. I felt at ease, I had so much fun, and I felt like I could trust her to take care of me, and she did! I can’t imagine going to see anyone else for my hair, and I can’t wait to see how Sophia continues to grow, both in her craft and her as a person :)

My hubby had a groupon and surprised me today with a mani/pedi. Diana C did a wonderful job. She was very kind, sweet, & professional. I have no complaints what-so-ever. Its nice to get a service that is two fold, a learning experience for one & a relaxing time for the other. The facility was clean, no long wait. I would suggest offering water to clients, would be a nice touch.

Arnita and the instructors are great. She took time to make sure she got the cut exactly like I wanted it. It wasnt an easy job! 7+ inches cut off, different length layers and side bangs, then highlights. She was patient and professional, explained everything to me. I know she said she was part time and works 10-2 when I asked. When my services werent complete by then she didnt rush through things and continued on the same. I absolutely love my hair, both the cut and the color. She offered to style it for me too but it was raining so I didnt want to just ruin it stepping outside when I had forgotten an umbrella. The institute was very clean and everyone was very friendly. For those worried about stylists being students - dont be. The instructors keep a close eye and go through things with them. At the end of my cut the instructor went through to check everything as well.

I love going there. The building is clean the students are polite theyre great and what they do the prices are reasonable and is great to know that theyre being trained by the excellent instructors who do assist when needed. If you need your hair done go to health and style institute

Great experience as always. Yes, the stylists are students but give them a chance, they really do a great job. Besides, an instructor is always there to help and has to sign off on every step of whatever youre getting done (Ms. Battle is amazing) so you arent just being left with somebody who is guessing........EDIT call and make an appointment. I called today to see if I could get one and was told to come on in at any time because an appointment wasnt necessary. Drove 20 minutes over there only to be told nobody was available to cut my hair and to come back in about 3 hours :/

I had bought facials on Groupon. I followed the instructions and called and set up appointments for myself and my 13 year old daughter for facials. We get there early which was good because the address and directions are wrong on Groupon and I had to call and get their correct address. This was during the fuel crisis and I had to drive an hour from home and then 30 minutes driving around a large mall looking for this place. Finally get there still early. Go in and they have lots of students eating cake and playing loud music. Was a birthday party apparently. But no one was available to do our facials nor could any of the staff take time from the party to do it. They had no evidence of the appointments and had no way to tell us anything. Asked for manager, had to wait 20 minutes for him to get back from lunch. He said they had a bunch of Callouts and the students sometimes take the appointments but don’t tell anyone and there was nothing he could do. So wasted total of 3 hours of my day and my daughter’s day. No resolution and barely apologetic. Totally unprofessional and they apparently are a school. I hate to see what they are teaching these folks. Also had to get my money from Groupon but of course can’t get it back have to take credit.

This was my first experience at Health and Style Institute. I went for the full experience of shampoo, cut, style, & blow dry with a little bit of hot iron and it was amazing. My stylist, Katrina, did an awesome job of taming my hair and was very determined to also provide an positive and pleasant customer experience. At the end she informed me that I was her first client, I didnt really believe her because she did such a great job. I knew she was a student and she had to show her work however I thought she was probably finishing and not starting her live model portion of her training. Not only was my stylist awesome. I was received with a friendly greeting from another staff member right as I entered the door. Everyone was friendly and nice and the atmosphere was professional and clean. They have a backdrop which they probably use only for contests but I would have loved to have taken a photo there :-) I definitely Im returning.

My friend and I redeemed a groupon for a mani/pedicure yesterday. Madison Trieglaff took terrific care of me, and was just so friendly. She really took her time and made my whole experience so enjoyable. It did take a bit longer than expected because she was having to share items with other girls working there (gel polish base coat, UV lamp) but she maintained a professional demeanor with a sweet personable touch. I would definitely come back!

My hairstylist was Sophia and she is the most detailed oriented hairstylist Ive ever had! She is great at communicating with you to understand exactly what you envisioned your dream hair to be like but also the reality of how hairdye chemistry works to my hair personally. I knew from start to finish what she was going to do and what to expect. Everyone was friendly at the check-in/check out desk. The facility was clean and professional. Sophia had an awesome team of classmates and teachers that were highly supportive of her to make sure I got the look I wanted. I never felt so pampered! Not to mention the highly affordable pricings and discounts they give out. Ive already got loads of compliments about my hair color, thanks to Sophie! Thank you!

I would highly not recommend!!!!! I attended a esthetician program here and was let go with 2 weeks to graduation due to false accusations I was able to provide statements from students and instructors written and recorded that it wasn’t true and was still kicked out !!! . I had to pay for my completions as well as we were taught esthetics via YOUTUBE !!!!! Save your money . Take your time with researching other schools !!!!!

I received a customized facial by Chante Casey and I must say she was amazing. I felt really comfortable and relaxed the whole time. She was also very sweet and told me every step of the facial. My skin looks amazing.

The facial done miss Lauren was amazing, she’s the sweetest! However, the management is really terrible! Very very disappointed! The manager is so uncooperative and straight up rude!

Very bad customer service. I purchased a deal from Groupon and took an appointment but they said they don’t have enough students available so I rescheduled my appointment the next day. When I went there the next day they told me the same excuse, no enough students! No value for customers at all!!

This was my first experience ever in a chair, and I loved every minute of it! My stylist was Sophia and she was very sweet and professional. I went in with jet black hair, wanting to color it and gave her free rein with my hair canvas. I was blown away by the results! She dyed my hair royal purple, subtle, and not choppy. I loved the way she was passionate about doing my hair. The way she was excited, got me excited! I am seeing her next week, because I loved every minute of it!

I had a great experience here. Everyone was very friendly, Sophia took very good care of me and did a wonderful job on my hair. My hair is probably the softest its ever been and she did a very nice fade on the sides.

No one in that school congratulated me or celebrated my completion.I started school Jun 6 2017 and finished 8 13 2020. My friends on family and friends know that I struggle a lot and had all kind of health problems including a coma and I still struggle with many emotional things.But doing this was very important and a great accomplishment.But this school Health and Style Institute did not care at all. I didn’t have a proper goodbye, a next steps Orientation, not even a GRADUATION. They only wanted money, once they got paid they didn’t care at all about me.So yes I’m “done” with school but I didn’t even learn how to do highlights!!

So I went in today to get a shampoo, blow dry and style from Sophia and she was amazing. Lets start with the shampoo, you know those commercials for the 5 gum? That’s how my scalp felt from the clarifying shampoo she used. Amazing! Then she did a conditioning treatment and after my hair felt so soft and moisturized. She talked me through everything she was doing and was extremely professional. I’ve already booked my next appointment.

She has a true eye for beauty and style. I highly recommend Sophia Men as the stylist to go with if youre looking for someone who has a very professional persona, is friendly, and does an excellent job with African American hair in terms of flat ironing natural hair. She also does fabulous with washing the scalp and is not afraid to get in there when scrubbing the scalp! I really enjoyed her!

Elandra did a fantastic job on my mani-pedi. She was very likable, professional, and great at her job. My nails look fantastic and it was overall an amazing experience!

Atmosphere was very clean and professional. Wait time was great ! The room was very calming and relaxing. It was my first facial and I enjoyed every second. Raven made sure everything was hand selected for my face and skin care needs. I also received a lip wax that left me smooth and clean. I feel like I have a brand new face. My skin feels like silk and I will certainly be back often.

This was by far my worst spa experience in Greensboro. Not only are they listed here on Google incorrectly, the receptionist who took down my appointment didnt bother to make sure my name was spelled correctly. After I arrived, I sat and waited more than 30 minutes to be seen. The students didnt even come out from the back until 15 minutes after my appointment was supposed to have been started. The girl who did my nails was very nice; she wasnt prepared for the appointment. I would assume the teachers there would teach them to have their hair pulled back while doing nails... not only was my paint job very mediocre, my cuticles werent clipped or pushed back at all. That is the ENTIRE reason I went to get a mani pedi. I would not return there. Again, the girl was VERY nice, but my overall experience was super disappointing. *Edit* I read that the students arent certified to cut cuticles... then they should ADVERTISE that when they advertise a mani/pedi. How else are customers supposed to know what to expect? Poor advertising.

Today I came in and had Sophia give me a perm. The perm job was done beautifully. The curls came out much curlier than any other salon I’ve been to. And to top it off Her friendly personality made the experience so much more worthwhile as well.

I had Sophia Men as my hairstylist. She gave me a haircut & dyed my hair. She gave it a perfect caramel drizzle look. I LOVE IT! Makes me feel great about myself. 🙂 I highly recommend her services!

Sophia Men is amazing!!! I just went in to start the process of lightening my hair with an ombre effect and Sophia hit it right on the money! Sophia, and everyone else I met there, was incredibly kind and accommodating. I genuinely feel like my ideas and input were taken into account. Sophia was extremely attentive and explained every part of the process, taking the time to make sure I was on board with what we were doing! Cant wait to book again for the next phase of the transformation! Completely satisfied!!

They moved my appointment back an hour without calling me, so I just had to wait. And beyond that I had to wait longer. Obviously they’re not experts since it’s a school, but the girl who did my facial was rough, did not explain what she was doing, and did not seem very knowledgeable. She kept leaving and not coming back for awhile. She was nice though. I also didn’t like that they talked about what I needed like I wasn’t there instead of addressing me. If you decide to chance it and go here, make sure to give yourself plenty of time.

Today I went in wanting an ashy balayage and got exactly that thanks to my stylist Sophia Men. I just showed her a video of the style I was looking for and she did not disappoint. She was thorough and patient throughout the whole process. She made me feel reassured by always telling me beforehand of what she was doing to my hair next. I’m more than pleased with the outcome!

So I originally came in to just get a basic haircut but after talking to Sophia and looking at some options I ended up getting my hair colored, shampooed and styled for the first time ever and now i am very much considering regularly letting her style and color my hair. She explained every detail but in a conversational way, answered any question, was very attentive, and was so focused and careful about getting it just how i wanted. I was about to sign a contract at heath and style then found another school that better fit my needs and offered more then heath and style. No big deal until I get a phone call from heath and style asking why I haven’t called them back. After saying I haven’t revived a call she told me I have received their calls and they I was basically just ignoring them. I then told her I choose another school and thanked her for the opportunity and the lady I was speaking with, Derricka, told me that the school I was going to would not help me find a job after school (and they do I already have three job interviews lined up at amazing companies) and also told me I probably won’t graduate because “the school I’m going to is a new school and they don’t have any graduation ratings yet” ... my question is why act like that when I was being nice and just chose another school that fit my needs better.

I had a great experience. Came for a haircut by Sophia Men and she did an awesome job. I gave her a vague description on what I what I wanted and she worked her magic. She was very knowledgeable and even gave me tips to style and manage my hair. Definitely will be back. Plus the shampoo and conditioning was a major plus and relaxing lol.

I got a facial today, my very first facial. It was amazing! They made sure I was completely comfortable the whole time .I got a mini massage because it was my birthday. And she had such a gentle touch! She was perfect, she kept small talk up with me when I wanted. And then not when I was really enjoying the facial. Her name was Brittany M. And if I get another facial I will be going to her. I highly recommend her to anyone looking for a facial!!

I visited Health and Style Institute for the first time for some services and was so very impressed. My experience started with a friendly and professional greeting. My student was prepared and polite. My services were flawless! I am so excited I found all of this under one roof. I left feeling and looking great, and have re-booked my next appointment.

I had a wonderful experience, and having my hair be colorful again. Sophia, my stylist has helped me better to understand the process of coloring my hair. Hopefully I will gain the beautiful ash blonde with her.

The teachers were extremely helpful! The stylist, Ashley, was considerate and did an excellent job. All the other stylist were working or helping a classmate. The facility is very nice. I am stoked about my hair and grateful she could fit me in prior to me returning to teaching.

The instructors allow the students to completely over process my hair causing chunks of my hair to fall out and I almost had to shave my head. Instead of getting the blonde color that I wanted, they put gray in my hair and then it turned out green, and then had to cut off 5 inches of hair just so that my hair would blend in with the chunks that fell out. They told me there was nothing that they could do to help me because I used a “metallic dye “, When in reality I could tell that they just had no idea what they were doing. So now I am walking around with green hair and I am disgusted that they even allowed me to walk out of the building like that.

First I went to this lady and she did horribly! But the one thing I love is that if your not satisfied and you let somebody know they will help you. After I was not satisfied, Fiona Steward and her friends hooked me up! I am so glad she did my hair. It looks so good, it doesn’t even look like my hair!! Thanks guys!!!

I had a facial here last week. Absolutely loved it, I had my facial done by Saudia. I highly recommend her, she did a great job. Very professional and highly talented. My face was glowing and I never felt more relaxed. You can tell she’s knows what she’s doing.

My experience at the Institute has been phenomenal. Ive gotten facials as well as waxing. My advanced skin therapist, Angelia Hairston, has done an incredible job giving me wonderful facials and keeping me informed about the products at the school which will enhance my skins radiance. I was very impressed with the atmosphere in which she created calmness and relaxation. In fact, I unwittingly went to sleep, and thats a great thing. I’m currently a student at this school. We are students and get 2-3 clients per day. This school has some great instructors.. let’s just discuss that this IS a school. We are training to be cosmetologist. We make mistakes. You come to a school knowing that, you pay for what you get. Don’t come to the school expecting to get in and out... please keep that in mind. If you want a manicure and pedicure that transforms your feet, go to a nail tech. NAIL TECHNICIANS are certified to cut cuticles and dead skin. We cosmetologist are not. Come to the school with an open mind... this is not a fast service salon, it’s a learning one. Overall this place is growing and improving. The management has changed and things are getting better. Mr.Corey and Mrs.Alexander are amazing instructors and have impacted my life in such a positive way.

I have been here a quite a few times before and after the move from Highpoint Nc to Greensboro Nc and I love it! I have grown to know a newer stylist Bailey E and I love her! She has done my hair 2-3 times already and I’m always in love with it. She has a great personality and always makes me feel welcomed and appreciated and most importantly beautiful. She not only gives me compliments and confidence but also other customers and stylist as well. Her positive energy radiates among everyone and I can’t wait until I need my hair done again!

They are gaining students by lies and deception and once you enter youre stuck owing money for a program that was completely made up, just to get financial aid money from the students they recrute. I just got back from getting a hair cut there, and this is actually the very best cut Ive ever had. A woman by the name of Hailey was my stylist, and she asked questions and ensured I was thrilled with the outcome. Seriously, I havent had a good haircut in...possibly ever, and I hate how the hair grows out of the top of my head. But Hailey was the one to finally figure out how to cut my hair the way I like it.THANKS SO MUCH!

NEVER GO AT NIGHT!! I went to get a facial here last night and the experience was awful! The lady who performed my facial was great, prompt and professional. The issue was there were three young ladies in the room the entire time. I’m guessing they were students because they had on white coats like everyone else. These young ladies were soooo unprofessional!!I was on the opposite side of the room and all I heard during my entire facial was profanity, loud videos being played off there phones and one young lady was diacusssing her private family issues. This is not the time or the place for that. I paid my hard earned money to relax not to hear cursing every five minutes!! I was so disappointed!!

I visited Health and Style, Lynn Black was my styles, she gave me a great shampoo, then she asked me what size curl set I wanted , I had the opportunity to choose my roller size, she asked me would I like my style to back side , I told her to roll it back, she put a setting lotion in and began to set my hair, while we had a little chat, My hair came out beautiful and the curl held for a week or more, I wanted to schedule another appointment with Lynn, when Im back in Greensboro, Thank you guys for good Styles like her.

I went to the hair school today because my hair needed to be done and it was way over due. I got a young lady by the name of Jalisa pierce I believe I hope Im not saying her name wrong but she was absolutely AMAZING! I have really thick hair and it was tangled ( I know its my fault) but she never was rough, never had an attitude or anything. She also did my hair pretty fast. I have never had my hair this straight in years not even by the best of the best top dollar cosmetologist. Jalisa did her thing she clipped my ends well my hair is so soft and if feel as if she has growing hands I would literally recommend everybody to sit in her chair because she is great at what she does. The receptionist was not really greetable I did a walk in and he said he had to see if he had anybody to do my hair because they were changing shifts but it was the tone in his voice and it took him forever to come back to the desk but thats minor I will be back thank you Jalisa!!

Im a former student of this school and my experience was okay at first. I started when I didnt have to before school started and decided it wasnt for me still had to pay though my term never started and I never got my equipment? Anyways the witch in admissions best be glad I didnt want a record. She said do you even want a career?...well yes I did and I got it Im a rn now and Im thinking of going back to be a PA. But to tell someone that because they realize before they actually start class that thats not what they want then that makes you someone unfit to be in the school system Rachel

I got a Keratin treatment. It was about my seventh, others from salon professional. Christa did mine and I swear best ever! It took extra time, but it was done right. I am excited to go agiag.

I just love going to the Health and Style Institute to get my skin taken care of. All the staff and students give their best. Since I have been coming here I can tell a big difference in my skin and feel more beautiful. Lan D. does a great job.

Had a facial with Brittany McCandies. It was amazing ! It was my first facial and she made the experience great. Very informative on the things she did and products she used. I scheduled my next facial the same day !

If I could give this place no star, I would. Id like to start off by saying this school IS money driven. Now the skin care program... may be different. But as far as cosmetology goes... youre better off at Leons, or somewhere in Charlotte. I wouldve never chose this school if I knew what it was like before hand. Instructors arent passionate about teaching because they are so aggravated with the staff that they dont even want to do there own job. Classes that shouldnt be combined are combined so students can be on the salon floor on Thursdays bringing in money. Instructors force you to stay after school, over your hours to take clients.. which would be fine if it was completions that we needed to graduate. But when you force students to do services because it makes you maybe 10-20$ thats just pathetic. They are so unorganized when it comes to completions. You have to bug instructors just to make sure they have checked off your completions for the day. Then when they dont, its OUR fault. We ask to go look at the computer to see whats on file and nobody wants to lift a finger. They want you to sell retail, but cant provide any of the retail in the dispensary for you to try out and use on clients... They want you to graduate and be successful but if you dont comply to take clients at times when you arent scheduled or when you dont need the completion, youre gonna get punished. Saturdays are mandatory for us students, but only for certain ones. The rules only apply to certain people. Instead of threatening us with suspensions and write ups all the time, why dont you sit down and talk to us students about our lives and if somethings wrong to tell you? Its so easy to discipline at this school, but so hard to educate. The education is not $22,000. I feel like an employee. Not a student. Please have your own thoughts on this school, this was just my experience and I thought Id share.

I only go here to support people I know that attend this school because I know they need the requirements to graduate and I only want to help them achieve that. I have never dealt with such poor scheduling and front desk staff in my life and then when you complain numerous times it seems nothing is done about the situation. Better management with front desk employees is definitely needed.

I had a great day. I went in for a mani/pedi, but was so impressed by Karla that I left with not only beautiful hands and feel, but also some pretty awesome blue hair! I was also treated to a mini facial by Cindy. Let me just tell you the students and teachers really care at this salon. I will definitely be back and I would recommend them to anyone. They offer so many services I cannot wait to see what I treat myself to next time :)

Went by to get my lashes done by the following day they fall off, call in to get it fix went by it to the 45 mints to start a lady at the front was so rude telling me that they are students . which is understandable but our money, we are spending isnt free we work hard for it so dont think anyone is just. Going to just come give their money a way like that

The new location is absolutely marvelous. Tiffini Moore is who you need to ask for she slayed my bob and I will definitely be going to her again. Shoutout to Ms.Parker too, pretty amazing instructor. Also people they do waxing, lashes, facials, etc... take your friends, your kids, your grandma... it’s a great environment. Highly recommended.

I have been a long time client of the Health and Style Institute. That all changed when I was in for my appointment on Tuesday. First problem was I was scheduled for an appointment for the wrong day and time. But I do understand things happen. But the attitude that was displayed by LISA FOSTER was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. She is most definently not setting any sort of example for the students around her as to how to make your clients feel while they are paying for a service. I will never return because of the way she treated me unless of course she wasnt there anymore.

Had my very 1st facial today by Tanina she made me feel very comfortable and everything was explained to me step by step. Definitely coming back!!!!

As a former Health & Style student, my rating is a ZERO! When I agreed to pay the astronomical amount it costs for the Cosmetology Program here, I expect/demand to get the BEST teachers, training, & equipment possible!!! Unfortunately, that was NOT the case!!! Within my first month of class, my instructor accidentally indicated that out of all the students shed taught & placed onto the floor, only 2-3 were qualified to cut her hair. Now if thats true, then why are all those students on the floor working on customers and screwing up their hair??? Also, let me add, the instructors hair was so short, anyone could have done it with a guard and electric razor!!! This told me so much about her training capabilities!!! Next, there were constant classroom interruptions. The majority of the teachers were students who had just graduated from the program (No ACTUAL Salon Experience). Also, I watched an instructor do an underarm hair removal demo when Cosmetologists dont do that. Another instructor performed an eyebrow waxing demo & mistakenly took off half of my classmates eyebrow. And the list goes on & on!! This school disappointed on so many levels that my recommendation is to save yourself some time, money, and lots of debt & head on down to your local community college. Youll be glad you did!!! Also, if you still decide to sign up & dont complete by your projected graduation data (most dont), the amount you owe also increases. They dont tell you that when you sign up. Best of luck.
