I have been coming to Leon’s Beauty school for nearly 20 years. The professional staff of teachers, Ms B, Mr Roberts and everyone else have always shown the greatest respect to caring for my hair and professionalism when demonstrating techniques to their students.Regardless of what style I have ever wanted, the students under their teacher’s directions have been able to exceed my expectations.Recently I moved from the Piedmont to the Crystal Coast of NC but I come back to Leon’s for my hair care needs. I simply find their expertise with hair care the best !!!

Love this school! It is so much more than hair! Get facials and makeovers as well. Love their customer service too! Everyone there is super nice!

Students here are great but instructors need work!

I went to school here for cosmetology. Over all I’m happy with my choice of going her. Mrs. Bonnie was very caring and a loving instructor. She helped me greatly while I was there. However I felt my experience in basics was less than great because of my instructor Mr. Steve he was vile to say the least. He had a very condescending and patronizing attitude. I’ve never in my life seen someone have a total lack of professionalism then what he displayed. However if you can over look him then you should be fine. I don’t feel he’s fit to be an instructor by any means.

I had a wonderful experience and they took care of all my needs. They are so nice and welcoming so I definitely recommend this place.

Couple of weeks ago I had went to get my hair colored and cut, showed a pictures of what I wanted. The instructor Ms. kana said that it would look horrible on me and basically did what she wanted. I HATE IT . And will never do back

I needed a shampoo and hot press. Couldnt get it because there was a cut off time. Why didnt they let me know that before I came after a 30 min drive??

Came in for a color and style I waited for about 30 minutes for a student to take me when a student finally took me kana (a teacher) told me not to get the color I wanted that it would not look good on me she also kept blowing the student off when she would ask her questions. They’re short staffed. And have rude teachers. Will not be coming back

Kuddos to the students and staff at Leons Beauty School. For almost 30 years, I have been coming to the Beauty School to have everything from colors, retouch, cuts, new styles and all my hair care needs. I now drive from Carteret County ( the Crystal Coast ) of NC just to have my hair needs met. I trust the instructors to always check the work of the students and appreciate all their suggestions and input with my hair needs. Never had a bad experience and if I ever did, I know they can fix it right away. Thank you to all the instructors for working through the COVID pandemic to keep those of us who need your service looking great.

I’ve been going there for almost 40 years, and in all that time, I got two haircuts I wasn’t happy with. It takes a little longer because the students are learning, but the instructors are great and they touch up and polish every haircut.

Came in for a treatment and style instead of a processing cap I watched the student cut a garbage bag and put it on my head. This school makes enough money for processing caps. Very cheap !!

I have been visiting Leons Beauty School for years. My hair was almost to my waste about 6 months the ago and I cut it all off. The cut was just above my ears with layers, when it was complete. Mrs. B was the instructor supervising it all. She was great. Today, I went back for a cut and ended up getting it colored too. Mrs. B, takes as much time as she and you need to make sure your cut and color is perfect. She is so patient and great with teaching the students what she is doing. She shows them the angles and how to make changes in the cut to work around cow licks and other common issues with your hair. I recommend going in an getting your hair done. These are students doing your hair. The teachers are suppose to come and double check. There are a few who can really impress you with their knowledge and skills. Kierstin, one that I go to has an amazing taste and very down to earth when I get my hair cut or done.

I had a good experience at Leons with Angel. She performed a wash and blow out. I just wish that the instructors would walk over and check on the students before they need assistance. Overall a great experience.

Honestly just a horrible school overall from the products to the staff. Mary lies about your completions and also talks to grown adults (myself and all others who aren’t white) like little kids who are in elementary school. I was definitely racially profiled during the entire course to the point where they made me leave school to go “intern” at a nail salon.. i was in school for esthetics. There is about one black member on the staff and that there says enough.. But if you’re looking for something cheap, bare minimum education, or want to be racially profiled to get by your state board... this is it.

Wonderful staff I was treated with the most respect and all information was explained from expectations to what I can expect from them while attending as a student. Appointments were kept followup email and calls very professional and attitudes are great! excited to begin studies there this coming week.

Normally dont leave negative reviews but felt that I had to on this occasion. Called ahead at 12noon last Saturday and told the person who answered the phone with I needed done and she said no problem after checking with someone else. When I arrived at 12:17 and signed in the female working the desk came to me and said sorry no one here can do locs I explained to her that I just called and spoke to someone. She basically said it was a different person working the desk. What a very poor excuse and poor customer service. I went to Bettys hair braiding on Randleman Rd and received better service and didnt have to wait.

I have been going to Leons for 10 plus years and have never had such a poor experience. Not only did I end up not with what I asked for in a picture but ended paying $10 more than quoted after sitting thru 5 hours!!! All I wanted going in was highlights and a cut. I will now start finding a salon instead.

Leons is a great school! One of NCs hidden gems. The public can visit and get great service at discounted prices.

Go ONLY if you want something basic, but WOC STEER clear if you want braids or a relaxer. These people (ex. Asia, Mikey) will have you looking like Busta Rhymes or a dirty Q-Tip.
