This school has been a wonderful learning facility for my child. They definitely exceeded expectations during the COVID-19 pandemic. I am appreciative to all the staff for going above and beyond. Always have fun events for children and family during and after school. Access to childrens records is always available so we can watch childrens progress. Look forward to the years to come. Overall good school, but the drive thru line is ridiculous. Only one way in and one way out. This has to be an emergency hazard. Just say if someone gets and emergency call and needs to leave oh well they are stuck. Once you get in line their is no way out. This school continues to take on more students, but dont improve the drop off and pick up situation. I agree with the previous review, if you are having car trouble, no air conditioning, or low in gas ....your stuck, which will hold everyone else up. There has to be a better way with this drive line. I strongly believe if enough parents speak up, their could possibly be a change. Please speak out if you agree.Concerned drive line parent.

The absolute worst car rider line I have ever been in....they say it gets better after the first 2 weeks....thats the furtherest from the truth or just gets worse everyday. Teacher communication is also pretty much non-existent.

Taking my grandson to school is a nightmare, the pick up line is ridiculously long . You can arrive early and wait an hour, then take 20 mins to go thru the line or come on time and go thru the drive line that takes a hour. Ive never seen anything like it. Considering a new school.

I would not recommend this school to anyone the care for the children’s grades and instruction is minimal, the classes are full with 30 plus students which is not like normal charter schools, the only difference between here and a public school is Gate city does not have a cafeteria to feed the children dont send your children here public school is better. If I could rate 0 I would , rude front office staff , and the principals go along with what the teachers say even if they know darn well it isn’t right

Gate City Academy is a good school for anyone that is looking for a character school I due recommend. My son go there and is in the 8th grade there the teachers that I have came across that helps my son shows him that they really care.I Applaud them for all the hard work that they do to help him and out her students succeed.

My dog goes there and she said that they kept saying,”I want a piece of that” to her and all she wanted to do was eat her dog food peacefully and the kids there always ask my dog for her food like come on wake up that’s dog food your a human like come in sister squad you gotta do better than this my dog almost starved to death and got treated like a slave and all the school care about is the money for that prison food they give at least a good rectangle pizza can help but no they give them prison food like literally and yeah you need to step up your game gate city ever since Mr.Moore left the school has been like one of the most worst schools in NC like come on so that’s the end bro bro.Sincerely-Big Chungus

The lunch and breakfast for the children is horrible, the staff doesnt seem to be on one accord, my daughter hates school now. This school was Awesome with the original principle Mr. Moore, ever since they snuck and abruptly fired him like they keep doing the good staff, it has went down hill. There is never a day they arent asking for money. Now as far as the social worker and front desk staff they are a blessing to the school, but thats not enough to keep your kids in the school. Definitely needs Mr. Moore back ASAP!

My daughter attends Gate City. She used to struggle at regular public school but is on the a/b honor roll here. They care for your childs success and do what they can to help them succeed. The staff is very friendly, along with the principal, and very helpful. I would recommend this school to everyone.

I was mistreated terribly at the school by the administration who fails to answer calls and emails. Many parents called me stating they have not heard back from the Dean or Principal. In fact, students are packed in their classes like sardines and the teachers are held to high standards that are ridiculous. I was even told that I had too many students on honor roll. As far as bullying, I experienced that too. Parents need to go inside of your childs class and see what is going on. Some teachers have kids with more needs and are black balled this way because of lack of resources. How can you expect any teacher to teach with 28 students in a class without an assistant.

If there was a zero review thats what I would give them.if one person talks the whole class is in trouble.thats not fair. I switch to EGMS (Eastern Guilford middle School) its way better

My family and I had hard time adjusting to the way the Public School system are ran in this State. North Carolina is way behind. Thanks to the Gate City my child enjoys going to school now. The teachers really get involve and cares. Their curriculum is what my husband and I wants for our child. I would recommend this school.

GCCA is dedicated to student growth & high expectations for each student, my daughter feels safe and supported, her teachers educate with poise and grace! Parents’ partnership is valued—cannot wait to send my son next year for kindergarten.

We have been at this school two years now. My children have learned so much!! They have improved dramatically in reading and math. The ladies in the office are always very friendly and welcoming. The teachers are fantastic with communication. The security at the school is great. My children love the playground. I gave four stars to the school only because of Mrs Dean Brown her attitude is very nasty towards parents, students and her co workers. Fortunately we dont have to deal with her this year but a warning to who ever may have to.

My daughter hasnt been there long but has been harrassed . 3 boys were in her face trying to convince her to date a boy. They wouldnt leave her alone after she told them to get away from her. She was at her desk and they were crowding her, one so close she could feel his breath on her face. the teacher did nothing to stop them from harrassing her and she hit the boy (Ive told her she should have got up and walked away instead of hitting him , she said she just reacted because they wouldnt leave her alone ) , the dean has yet to call me back about this . She was suspended for 2 days and 1 day detention. Why is it ok for boys to harrass her? I get she shouldnt have hit him but harrassing is not ok either. I also expect to be called back by the school, I get he was probably busy, but a week is way to long to not take a min to call a parent back! If there is so many kids that that you cant watch them all than down sizing is the way to go. These kids deserve to feel safe at school.

Horrible school. Dean and principal hold to many expectations and won’t do anything fun for the children especially in middle school. Teachers don’t teach the way the want to because of the administration. I wouldn’t recommend this school to anyone.

The school is getting ridiculous. 3 of my children have been there since GCCA opened with Mr.Moore. Now its a new principal who is always busy and does not return phone calls or May always be busy in her office. Then the administration needs alot of direction and more training. I have seen the drastic change at this school and its sad. You see bullying, kids disrespecting staff and there is nothing school wide wise being done about it.The school lunch is TERRIBLE PERIOD!! I THINK GCCA SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF THE FOOD THEY ARE FEEDING THE CHILDREN. THEY WANT EVEN EAT IT AND EXPECT OUR KIDS TO DO SO. I have had several new parents ask me what I thought of the school as many parents are not wanting there children to return because of these issues. You have children in the classroom with structure that come ready to learn and then you have the difiant ones in the classroom causing mess and side tracking the teachers and wonder why teachers are furstrated. Maybe if you all put some pressure on these parents with the children that do not know how to behave this would make a difference. Im not saying just start kicking them out but Im pretty sure a few days of suspension and those parents having to miss work and find babysitters will make a effort to control or encourage there children to make positive choices and learn to lead and not be followers. It takes a village to keep these kids together and right now the village is falling apart it needs a lot of repairing. Summerfield and Greensboro academy has way better structure than GCCA THEY FOCUS TO MUCH ON THE WRONG THINGS AND NOT ENOUGH ON THE REAL NEEDS.

Currently, there is a long list of issues with Gate City Academy. My child has attended Gate City since the school begin. The elementary part is much better than the middle school. A lot of fights and bullying occurs in the middle school. There is poor leadership and lack of professionalism within the entire administration department. You don’t need to take a tour of the school to even see the disorganization. Just ride through the drive line before and after school to view the staff. You will see how inattentive the staff are in their appearances, demeanors, the safety of the children and etc. Compared to Greensboro and Summerfield Academy, the sister schools to Gate City, there is a major contrast between the schools. Although there’s a big difference in the demographics of each academy, NHA’s vision should be displayed and excuted in all their schools.

My daughter attends Gate City and this is the best school in Guilford County. My daughter has learned so much and the staff is the best by far.
