Greensboro Martial Arts Academy and Cloud Forest Kung Fu is an excellent place to learn martial arts! I have found this location to be the best in the Greensboro and Winston-Salem area! The teachers are highly trained and care about what they do. They are mindful, compassionate and will work to help make you a better martial artist. Simply put, the instructors are good people! They offer a wide variety of classes for the entire family. Regardless of your age and abilities, you will find effective martial arts taught here. Michael Johnson, the owner has put forth much time and effort into making this a good place to train. These type of places are rare, and if you are lucky enough to find one, dont miss the opportunity. Both children and adults will find this a welcoming environment.

Very impressed with the welcoming atmosphere and depth of practical martial arts knowledge. This level of mastery and passion for the combat arts is hard to find.I say that, having myself trained in traditional martial arts for over 15 years and amateur mma/boxing for over 5 years. This place is a jewel in the martial arts community.

I stopped by to check out the GMAA facility and was pleasantly surprised by how warmly I was welcomed and integrated into the ongoing class. I was training directly with instructor Mark who is very experienced and skilled yet extremely humble and laid back. There were a couple of kids training nearby and they seemed to be enjoying the class. The energy at the class and from the instructors and students was very positive - this is a very important element of a great martial arts school. Open, airy and well lit class room. Overall fantastic initial experience! I will most likely join full time and post my experience a few months down the road.

The instructors and owners give the greatest rates in Greensboro. Theyve made it clear to me that their purpose is to teach discipline and martial arts, and are not so much about making money. Their actions speak louder than words. Come here and find a great bunch of people to train with. You wont regret it.

Ive been a student at Greensboro Martial Arts Academy almost two years. The instructors are highly skilled, creative, and extremely passionate about what they teach. They dedicate themselves to their students and have taught me much more than just martial arts. Theyve taught me about believing in myself and that I can be anything or do anything if I want it badly enough. There are a couple of passages in our school creed which I hold dear and include them here: Passion, courage and strength are mine to command as I train to be a warrior and learn to be gentle. I will never give up. I will dare to take risks and to succeed because I am stronger than the world tells me I can be.... and rise above the challenges I face, for greatness is within me. For me, this says it all.Come grow, learn, and become part of the incredible family that is - Greensboro Martial Arts Academy.

I stopped in just to check out Greensboro Martial Arts one day. I was invited in and I was welcome to watch or join. I wasnt expecting this so I declined to join but decided to stay. I left impressed. I appreciated everything from the friendliness, the creed spoken before the class, the camaraderie among the students, the diversity in age, race and gender of those involved, and of course the teaching.

I am so blessed to be involved in what Greensboro Martial arts Academy has going on... Their vision is so much greater than one can put into words. With a passion to build people, community and business from the inside out. Our system is setup to teach and train an individual to believe in themselves, build inner confidence and strength that inspires one to grow in their own outer strength... We use whatever learning style the individual needs to accomplish this... GMAA is community and family minded... Not only do we train together but we live life together... And we have something for everyone in your family to enjoy. Not only do we build community on the individual and family level but we love partnering with other small businesses to grow our community as a whole within GSO... Whether it be the business needs a space to operate or advertising help GMAA provides as much as they can to be an asset to other local small businesses.I love the heart and the passion on which this business is built!

Fantastic teachers, wonderful space. Family friendly and great with kids and adults. I have been a student there for almost two years and have learned so much about karate and kung fu. I get to learn all kinds of weapons and having more than one teacher from different styles really helps me understand martial arts better. They have a gym for students to work out in, they offer yoga, they have a comfortable lounge for parents waiting and have a huge dojo to learn in. I recommend any of the classes at Greensboro Martial Arts Academy. They are wonderfully skilled martial artists and care about each student.

Ive been a student at GMMA about a year and a half as I write. Here is what you need to know about this school:1. You will be welcomed with open arms, no matter who you are (or how old!). Its not just good community, its becomes like family, even from the beginning. Ive felt very welcome since the first day.2. You will learn a lot! With a variety of styles represented (Kung fu, Karate, Muy Thai, etc.), there is something for everyone. And the instructors know how to get you to *want* to work hard, without ever being harsh themselves.3. Its a lot of fun! Learning how to move your body in new ways, grow stronger and more flexible, play with weapons (staff, sticks, swords, etc.), and train with a group of passionate, dedicated teachers and students - I look forward to every class, often as the highlight of my day.In short, if you are looking to study the martial arts in any way, I cannot recommend Greensboro Martial Arts Academy highly enough!

Greensboro Martial Arts Academy has a variety of knowledgeable and experienced instructors. The primary Karate and Kung Fu cross training class is self defense based. The program focuses on karate principles in the lower belt ranks and builds with Kung Fu techniques in middle to upper belt ranks. The school teaches an assortment of weapons and practices sparing on a regular basis. GMAA has an inviting atmosphere where students along the continuum of ages and belt ranks train together and support each other. The Lil Dragons program is a karate program for ages 3 through 7 years old. The students learn discipline, respect, teamwork and life lessons while they develop their hand eye coordination and balance. It is rewarding to see the students grow as a person, build self confidence and master their martial arts skills.Playgrounds is an interactive theater club designed to educate the students on all things regarding the performing arts. Ethan Roberts and Michael Johnson combine their experience in the performing arts to educate both seasoned and amateur performers in various styles of acting. Although this group will not be putting on full performances it is a great way to practice public speaking or develop your craft. Ethan and Michael keep the group lighthearted and fun. They have many performing arts contacts within the Piedmont Triad so if youre looking to get involved with the local theater community they can guide you and help you prepare for your next role.I became a student at GMAA after walking into a Saturday weapons class. I had no background in the martial arts and I had been recovering from a prior injury. The students and teachers were all supportive and inviting and I fell in love, that day, with the martial arts and with the students and teachers who have become my dojo family.I teach the Lil Dragons when their regular teachers need a helping hand. We play games and make learning fun. I have learned as much from the Lil Dragon students as they have learned from me (patience included). I am thankful for the experience.I became part of Playgrounds at the strong encouragement of a close friend. I have no experience in the performing arts but I decided to take a chance and explore a side of my personality I had never known. I continue to meet new wonderful people and I have discovered much about myself. I have learned what it takes to stand in front of an audience and give a speech, presentation or perform a role in a play. But most importantly, I have fun.If you want to be around a knowledgeable and supportive community and you are looking for a new way to become active in a group, learn a new skill or get some exercise then I highly recommend coming to the Greensboro Martial Arts Academy.
