Doing Taekwondo Grandmaster H.K. Lee Academy was one of the best decisions I made in 2020. I started without any prior knowledge or experience in martial art. I doubted myself because I was never good at any sports, but with the help and instructions from the Masters, I have grown to love Taekwondo. They are all so attentive, caring and passionate about what theyre doing. Even with COVID-19, I feel safe because everyone takes the time to sanitize the dojang and equipment, and we all strictly follow CDC guidelines. I hope to continue practicing because Taekwondo has become an essential part of my daily life.

I have been attending H.K. Lee for several years now. I have never been disappointed the leadership and training i received. I started as an adult and was worried that i may not fit in. I was welcomed immediately and felt a part of the group from the Masters and other students. As an educator I also watch how they tailor instruction to to the individual student no how many are in the class. Student learn discipline and respect as well as value self-defense. We have used Grandmaster H.K. Lee Academy of TaeKownDo for summer camp, holiday camp, snow days, and general membership for both children (ages 4-8) and adults (late 30s/early 40s).This dojan is amazing.Quality: The core masters have taken international standards and slightly modified them based on Grandmaster Lees experiences and knowledge of both children and adult physiology to ensure they are learning something that fits and appropriately stretches their bodys abilities, meets or exceeds international standards for TKD, and is practical use. Masters bring a variety of skills from different countries, ensuring that a variety of skills are being appropriately considered and taught. Many of them also have multiple martial arts backgrounds, bringing that knowledge with their practical lessons.Value: With your monthly membership you can attend as many classes as you are able to. No questions asked. No minimum, no maximum. If you can only attend one a month its going to feel very expensive, but if you can attend 3-5 times per week the value is incredible. You can attend as many classes as you want in a day, so if you want to cram 3-5 hours into a Saturday, do it. If you want to use one of the dojan for private study, just ask. H.K. Lee Academy of TaeKwonDos virtual classes have been the thing that I look forward to the most during the COVID-19 pandemic. The instructors are super patient and always positive. In a time when it seems that the world has stopped spinning and we are stuck, I am able to move forward with my martial arts practice. I am eternally grateful. In addition, I am 39 and have some health issues. BUT, HK Lee Academy of TaeKwonDo has welcomed me to the family and encourages me to do the best that I can. I also appreciate their openness and willingness to work with someone who is no longer young and athletic.

My kids have been at Grandmaster Lees TaeKwonDo Academy for a year now and my kids love the experience. Looking forward for may years to come.

H k lee has no quality in there classes. I have been going for over two years now and my posture and flexibility hasn’t changed at all. They don’t bother correcting wrong stance or move and the masters only start being serious a few days before the exam. Most of the curriculum i have learned from a friend because the masters keep asking me to teach other kids instead of teaching me. I come to class to learn not teach others. There was a big championship coming up and I didn’t know my form at all, the day before the championship I came to class hoping to learn form but instead they told me to search it up on YouTube and learn from there.

We absolutely love HKLee for our daughter , she can get her home work done and also take class. The staff is great, We definitely made the best decision taking her out of daycare and putting her here. She loves Summer Camp as well as winter camp. All around a wonderful place

Grand master H k lee.Taekwondo dojang in VA Herndon is the best and one my master krishna balal and all the team mambers are working hard. They are providing quality taekwondo education,skills and technology for the students.

They focus on other personality building skills as well. Kids learn in a peer environment and friendly competition and team work are encouraged. Masters are really good at what they do.

My children have been taking classes at HK Lee for several years. The quality of instruction has been outstanding. The Friday sparring class is their favorite! The Masters that actually teach the courses truly care about their students and are committed to helping them improve their skills. Some of the senior black belts that provide leadership during the classes and exams have more of a negative impact than a positive one. Their lack of patience with the students, push ups as punishment, and correcting over the Masters is disappointing. Understood that children at times will misbehave and that it is expected for the senior black belts to provide guidance, but their approach does not warrant respect nor create an encouraging environment.

Very interesting place. Great programs for after school - allowing time for homework. My son did not like the rigid nature of the martial arts instruction.

My Daughter has been in this school for last 3 years and participated in two NCO championships and got first place every time in her category butWhat i have witnessed is the kids from other Taekwan do schools in NCO championship are doing better and faster in kicks, perfection in doing poomsae forms and power yelling while performinginstitute is good for kids of ages 4 to 6 as fun school and friendly environment for kids till under red belt but kids are not trained competent enough to participate in any championships and masters are not focus on correcting wrong postures and classes are effective only a week before exam times of belt

Great masters, great facility, fantastic classes. With such a wide variety of teachers, instructors, and masters each class is different and specialized for all kinds of people. Adult classes are chilling and a good easy workout session with a mixture of taekwondo techniques, sparring classes can be rigorous and strengthening, and regular classes have different masters teaching them with different teaching styles. Overall a superb taekwondo academy.

This is a very lovely place. My daughter started taking tae kwon do classes about 5 years ago and then we found an amazing art studio there, in a few years we discovered an amazing violin teacher and this is all in one place and we are still coming to this school with a great joy. Highly recommend to any parent!

All the masters are fantastic and patient. They help you with what ever you are struggling with. The community is filled with kind and welcoming people. The masters effectively teach you to do your best. Yes, Yes, Yes! I hugely recommend HKLee!!! We were in the AfterCare and Camp programs at HKLee for 3 years before a move took us out of the area. Well, I soon learned that I did not know what I had in HKLee!! Truthfully, I lost a co-parent when I lost HKLee. That’s exactly how it’s felt and it’s been a very noticeable loss. My daughter needs HKLee as a part of her daily life, I need it to feel best about what I’m doing for Her, and We Both Need It For The Familial Environment!!!!It’s unbelievable the way the staff learns and handles your child to their unique needs. And the way they partner with parents for the best growth and development for your children. And your children learn focus and discipline and social skills. It is a good school to get in to tkd but if your looking to do competitive tkd then this is not the place. It is a casual family friendly tkd school that teaches people how to defend themselves. Olympic sparring and even competitive poomsae is not practiced on a competitive level at all throughout the school which is my main gripe about it.

My 5 and 7 year olds participate in the after school program and I could not be more pleased. Everyone takes such good care of the kids. Whether they are doing their homework, taking a class, or playing, they are in a warm constructive environment. They are learning lifes skills: courage, perseverance, self-discipline, and determination. I consider the staff at HK Lee as part of a team that includes all the important adults my childrens lives.

HK Lee is a family oriented school aimed at self-improvement. Like any activity, you will get out of it what you put into it. If you are looking for a school to become a street fighter, this is not for you. Unlike other schools, HK Lee does not hold classes by age or rank; classes are held for all ages and ranks (with the exception of certain classes for black belts only). There is a tremendous amount of individual interaction and the masters are always willing to help you for as much time as you want to spend.If you are looking for a place to get in shape (in 50 min color belt classes or 80 min black belt classes), become a better person, or help you child learn respect and focus, then this is the place for you. I have made many friends here and found it to be a welcoming place. There are many opportunities in addition to the regular classes: a competition team, demo team, annual trip to Korea, and wonderful after school and summer programs. The school hosts many potlucks, picnics, dinners, and other events.My son learned life long values here and built his confidence. This is NOT a place that intimidates kids or makes them cry because they didnt do a form the right way! I have benefitted in many ways, including being in better shape; my orthopaedist said that I have avoided serious knee problems because my legs are strong from taekwondo.

Everybody at this school truly cares about children. These guys went beyond call of duty to help my son, where other, more expensive, private schools gave up on him. We started with the pee-wee class, where masters took their time to learn and work on individual needs of each child. They worked with my son on individual basis for 2 months, and they would not accept extra money because that’s what he really needed. Now summer camp and every day my son comes home tired and happy – you cannot beat 4 field trips per week, including museums, water parks and pool. We are already signed up for afterschool, where they will pick him up from school.I have not found Mrs. Lee inappropriate at all – she sets boundaries and is firm with them, which is a good thing. I have never smelled mold or anything like that, only a class full of people after a good workout – it is a DoJang, and it’s actually better than the ones I trailed at years ago.It’s an excellent TaeKwonDo school, which by definition, is a balance between Martial and Arts. If you are interested in pure fighting without the spiritual aspect, then try Kickboxing or Krav Maga, but don’t blame the school for your poor choices of styles.

It is very bad place, all they care about is money, the management there are very mean and not sensitive and careless to the need of the kids and family.The manager is the Master daughter which all she cares about money and she does not have a life.Stay away from this place
