I started taking adult ballet classes with Align over a year ago in the middle of the pandemic and soon purchased an unlimited virtual membership. It is totally worth it, and I take virtual classes via Zoom 2-4 days a week. I especially love Michaels classes - he is an enthusiastic teacher and coaches strong fundamentals and technique while also emphasizing musicality and movement quality so you feel like you are actually dancing. He is also really talented at teaching simultaneously to a live and virtual audience which is NOT easy to do. I still feel like I get a lot out of any level class (basic, intermediate, advanced) at this studio even from miles away. Though I do wish I were local (I live in SF) because I think it would be so fun to take a class in person. Check out a class or a workshop today - whether youve never danced ballet or youve danced for 30+ years. Your dancing and your fitness will improve either way. One note - they are not using MindBody anymore so sign up on their website for classes!

Ill start by saying that I have no dance background, do not have a consistent exercise schedule, and am not coordinated whatsoever and I still have a blast at Align Ballet Method.I always wanted to try ballet because it looks beautiful and I thought it would be a fun way to exercise and hopefully improve my posture. Recently I found out about Align Ballet Method and signed up for Align 1.Michael is the owner and instructor and is fantastic. He is very encouraging, wants people to learn but also wants you to have fun. As he said in one of the classes, If youre waiting to have fun until youre good at ballet, youll be waiting a long time. Have fun now and youll improve over time.I have now finished Align 1 and 2 and am taking a short break before Align 3 (the drive from work to Align is my only complaint!). I would absolutely be in here every day if I could. The hour flies by, its a fun group of people, the teacher is amazing, and the price is very reasonable (especially compared to most exercise classes in LA).If youre on the fence, try it. If youre like me, it will soon become the highlight of your week.

I feel compelled to write this review as my experience at Align has been exceptional! I danced on and off from about 8 years old through college.I had not taken a ballet class in over 30 years and was very intimidated togo back and dance again. I started at Align less than a year ago and have loved going through the workshops, 1, 2 and 3. I havent moved on to the open classes yet, but I so enjoy going to class and being with people who are so warm and encouraging. I have taken classes with Michael and Grace and cant say enough good things about both of them!Michael is the owner and founder of Align and I think hes a genius for starting a studio (now quite a few locations) where adults with little to no training could come in and learn ballet. My daughter, who dances en pointe, takes class here as well in the level 4 and five open classes and loves it, too!!

I came to LA a year ago and wanted to get back to ballet so badly. I was looking for adult classes that allow drop-ins, and suits my busy graduate school schedule. Thankfully i found out about Align Ballet Method, which is structured very similarly to my previous school. From there, I’ve never hesitated to come back after my first class with Michael. They have something to offer no matter what level you are at: beginners, recreational dancers, ballet students, and even professionals! For beginners, the Flight School is a good starting point as it’s well-paced, and integrates basic ballet movements into exercises. If you want a more systematic approach, try the workshops to build a strong foundation. If you are like me who just enjoy dancing and want to work on footwork/ jumps and turns/ musicality, definitely drop in for an Align 4 or 5 open class- just like any company classes you have taken before, with a very supportive (and not competitive) learning environment! There are also Jumps and Turns workshops/ repertoire workshops/ performance workshops that are offered year-round. All the instructors have their unique style and I have NEVER walked out the class without learning something. If you enjoy dancing, want to return to ballet, or just want to get started and try it out, don’t hesitate to book a free class (yes the first class is free) and dance it out!

Beginner workshops are perfect to drop into after vacations or intense work projects. It’s “CHEERS” with more beauty and muscle. When I can regularly attend (look/eat forward to) Open classes, I use the workshops to better focus on my breathing, posture, and coordination - for ballet, tiresome life tasks, and also bolder (mildly dangerous) new adventures.

Ive taken classes from Align at several of their locations, each of which has its perks, but this studio is really beautiful and has a great Marley-type floor! And every instructor in this program is wonderful. Im not sure there is an adult ballet program like this anywhere else in the world - approachable and fun with classes for all levels. LA is lucky to have Align Ballet!

I found Align Ballet last year. My bestie always wanted to take ballet classes as a child, but didnt get to. So, we started classes together. Its so wonderful to have a ballet school for adult beginners. Michael has done something amazing. All the instructors are great, and the curriculum is streamlined in an elegant way that doesnt sacrifice quality. Highly recommended for a student at any level, they also offer quite challenging advanced courses of study.

The people here are caring and accepting. Ballet can be intimidating but they make you feel welcome and safe so you can focus on dancing without unneccessary pressure/worry that I think scares some people away from learning Ballet.

Align Ballet is amazing! I started dancing here a little under a year ago and was a complete beginner - no dance experience as a child. I now take level 4 open classes and beginning pointe. Michael Cornell and all the teachers are knowledgeable and you can tell they care about their students progression.

(ive been taking class at the north hollywood location) the teachers are excellent. Ive been taught by Cleo and Kiara and both of them were super energetic, knowledgeable, patient, kind and excited to teach. The workshop system has taught me so quickly in a short amount of time and while it is challenging, I definitely feel like Im learning and staying on pace. I like the variety of students and growing together with students I began align 1 with. New people are great, but its also super nice knowing I have a familiar face every class. Im also hugely surprised and pleased how quickly Ive grown from an ultra beginner to much better ballet dancer. I still have plenty of things to learn and room to grow, but thats something to be excited about with align rather than something to be insecure about. Thanks so much!
