I came to Dougs class after receiving multiple recommendations. I audited his class and have since studied with him for over a year. From the get-go, he is very personalized in his approach with each student. When starting his class, he has a conversation as to your goals and expectations. You can choose what you like to work on, whether it is cold-reading, auditions, a specific genre, and he’ll give you the material and direction to do so. Monthly you perform in front of an industry guest which is great for replicating the audition process and networking. Another thing that has been incredibly helpful is being able to bring in sides for a self-tape/audition and work on that. Given the world is moving more and more towards self-tapes, it has been helpful to get some feedback before submitting. It is apparent that he cares about his students. He has high expectations and gives you the tools to meet those. He is honest, if your performance isnt up to par, he works with you to break it down and make it better. If it’s good, he will let you know that as well. Also doesn’t hurt that he is witty and has a good sense of humor. I have taken many acting courses, but his approach, knowledge, and the environment he creates has kept me coming back.

It is pretty simple--I find myself doing my best acting work when I am consistently attending Dougs class. I studied with Doug for a few years when I first moved to Los Angeles. During this time I felt more confident in scenes and auditions and knew I was doing industry-worthy work.I have recently come crawling back for more, after taking time off for comedy school, and couldnt be happier. Doug is intelligent and quirky, he understands actors, and most importantly his students as people.Dougs class is a safe space to explore. Hes not afraid to tell you when it looks like you are acting or youre not quite in it. Hes also not afraid to tell you when you are right on. The honest feedback he provides is so key to growth. In this class youll explore the deeper thoughts of the character, play with improvising scenes, work your scene on camera and learn to take quick redirects, just like on set. And an industry guest watches your work at the end of each month! Yay for built in networking.

Doug is an absolutely outstanding mentor and acting coach. His instruction is always straight forward and his classes great at meeting you where you need work. He is all about the actors, never about himself.

Ive studied with Acting Coach, Doug Warhit, for over a year now. There are a lot of reasons why hes often considered one of the very top on-camera/scene study teachers in all of Los Angeles. Here are some of the reasons I concur with that general consensus throughout the industry.#1 From my audit and onward, Doug runs his classes like a tight ship - professionally, on time, respectful of everyones personal lives, organized, etc.#2 In other words, be prepared to get up and work. I really appreciate that Doug doesnt let any of us sit and waste time while were there. (e.g. if youre not currently performing your scene youre likely the reader for another classmate, or youre helping someone else get ready before they come in and run their scene, etc.)#3 By setting this type of collaboration as the tone, its pretty easy to get to know your peers and get more comfortable performing in front of them (and working with them on projects outside of class, too).#4 Doug strongly encourages everyone to bring a thumb drive each week to class, so that he can record you, and so it can be reviewed later by the students#5 Doug is a no bull, straight shooter with his critiques and is more focused on his students performances getting better than waxing poetic about the good old days when he was acting#6 Doug is serious, yes, but also seriously funny. We spend as much time laughing or giggling during some classes as we do asking questions at the end of class. Its all about the work, but, when youre having a good time, theres plenty to have fun and make light of.#7 Dougs rates are really reasonable for the amount of time you get to work each class night and for how accessible Doug makes himself during the week to his students outside of the designated weekly classes.I could could go on, but, let me just wrap-up by saying, Doug Warhits classes are making me a better actor. He sees my progress and gives me the feedback I need to keep refining this craft I deeply love. Hes a no nonsense teacher and will give you the tools you need to ace your auditions and kill it on set, too! Highly recommended!!

Doug Warhit... is one of a kind! His class is awesome! HE is awesome! I was given a random suggestion when I entered the world of acting to learn cold reading. Cold reading is so invaluable when it comes to auditioning, where you might get your script the day before or even the morning of. He teaches so many valuable techniques on how to approach a new scene and how to successfully approach the audition process. This class is not only a good cold reading class though, but a GREAT acting class. He is very honest and straightforward. He has an acting background as well, so he knows what hes talking about. You will eventually come to learn how SERIOUSLY he takes your development and how much he wants for you to succeed. He even offers one on one private lessons if you feel you need extra help. He is genuine and he cares. Ive taken other acting classes.. SEVERAL other classes.. and I believe Dougs is by far the best.

Dough is an amazing acting coach. The problem I found with most acting classes I attended was that there was a lot of sugar coating. I am all for being supportive of the choices you make as an artist but a class is the place where you can grow as an artist and Doug knows how to push you to be your best. He tells you like it is and he has made me a better, more connected actor. He has many years of experience and he always has good advice on all industry aspects. I find a lot of value in watching other students perform because his input is so insightful.I highly recommend Doug for all acting levels.

My biggest fear was loving acting, but being a bad actress. Thank God and Mama Universe that I found Doug to straighten me out! He cares by being direct, straight to the point, and by giving you USABLE feed back on how to improve your performance. So, no more wasting your money, and HOPING your acting improves. You SEE YOUR ACTING IMPROVE, because you can take your cold reading/performance tapes home. He also sneakingly finds out whats holding you back. Self doubt, fear, anxiety? He helps you get past it. I studied with him for nearly a year, and by the end, had people saying how talented I was.Well talent took a whole lot of work!! He offers private sessions, and beg/int level class and adv. class. You get to practice cold reading, scenes, monologues, and perform in front of an industry guest monthly. You also learn by listening and seeing him critique other performances. I highly recommend you take his class!

I first started taking classes with Doug almost a year ago. If I could give him more than 5 stars, I would. I went to college for theatre, graduated and all that-- but I never realized how much I didnt know before Doug and his class. He genuinely cares about every one of his students, he takes the time to dig deep and figure out all that is needed for every character. I can see a lot of progress and understanding and appreciate that Doug was my first acting and on camera coach in LA. I will always recommend Doug, not only for his eagerness to push and help and lose old habits and create better new ones, but also because my phone wanted to change his name to Doughnuts.

Doug does an amazing job of personalizing his teaching method for each individual in the class. He is direct, compassionate, and, above all, dedicated to uncovering the confidence and truth in his students. This class is a great way to glimpse behind the curtain of the casting process, as well as a sharpening exercise in cold-reading and auditioning. Do yourself a favor: try it out.

He genuinely cares about his students, and tailors his approach to your specific way of working.
