I came to California Language Academy - Los Angeles in the hopes of finding a Portuguese professor that would be able to help me with my accent. Having family roots in both Portugal and Brazil, the development of my Portuguese accent proved to be very interesting to say the least. I was also planning a permanent move to Brazil in the future (now only 4 days away) and I wanted to make sure that I was prepared language wise. In my experience, Portuguese is not a language that is in high demand in Los Angeles, especially compared to other foreign languages such as Spanish. California Language Academy - Los Angeles was the closest language school to my house that offered Portuguese classes, so I decided to give them a shot.Never attending a language school prior to this, I did not know what to expect. The first day I walk in, I was greeted by one of the coolest people that Id ever met. Jessie Hill gave me a tour of the classrooms and broke down what I should expect if I decide to continue and actually do the program. As I said before, Portuguese isnt in too high demand, so I expected the only option for me would be private lessons. I chose the 10 class package and attended my private lessons every Wednesday night for one hour.My professor, Krista Heinrich, is the only teacher that anyone would ever need if wanting to learn Portuguese or English. She goes above and beyond what it means to teach. Her passion is making sure that the student is given exactly what he/she needs to grow. Saying that I was fortunate to have met her would be an understatement. Now that my class has been completed, I am still in close contact with Krista and her family! Krista is a true friend and an amazing professor who anyone would be lucky to have.The bottom line is this: the California Language Academy - Los Angeles is for everyone! This is a school whose staff has a strong passion for languages and an even stronger passion for teaching. Alissa and Ari Olgun truly are the sweetest people one could ever meet and are individuals one would aspire to be like. Jessie even hooked me up with Diego Ribeiro, Director of Recruitment and from Brazil, who has become such a cool friend. Whether it was talking about life abroad with Janine Krause before my class every Wednesday over a cup of coffee or losing track of time with Krista because we were having so much fun, I was extremely fortunate to have had this experience. California Language Academy is home.

First of all, thank you very much for having me!! Every moment there was amazing and fantastic! I chose this school simply because the number of students is small, which means that we can ask great teachers a bunch of questions and participate to our hearts content. I think doing conversation in English is a best way to improve our skill to talk/think in English. So, my suggestion is to get involved in this school, no worries, the staff here and teachers are very considerate, so don’t hesitate to ask any questions you have and talk whatever you want!! There is a will, there is a way!! Good luck!

My wife and me are group leaders. We usually take students abroad to learn English. Our best summer course was in this great School. Alissa, Ari, Janine and all the staff were fantastic with us and our students. The activities, the families, the social programe, the family environment they created ,...everything was amazing. We strongly recommend it!

Alissa and Ari Olgun have created a welcoming, accommodating space for students from all over the world who want to improve their English acumen and adapt to local culture with a little immersion and hands-on experience. I would recommend the school to anyone - they are responsive, communicative and easy to work with.

I did my final year internship at CLA and I had an amazing experience! I also went to a couple of their classes and they are truly helpful. The staff is great and you get to know a lot of other students. I definitely recommend CLA if you want a fun language experience!

A place to learn English that feels like home. Good teachers, good location and a good cost-benefit relationship. I absolutely recommend to my friends that have plans to study abroad.

I took business english course for 12wks last-summer and it was exactly I needed! They had many interesting programs! with smart, fun, loving teachers and plus, very nice helpful staff. I had wonderful time learning English there! I highly recommend to all :)

CLA was my favourite summer school. I came last year for 3 week and I like it a lot. Then this year I wanted to return to visit them and to participate again and I staid for 5 weeks it was the best experience I ever had.Thanks CLA

California ESL Was a great experience for me, I learned a lot with personalized classes, small groups, fun activities outside of the classroom, lunch together in special occasions, everything to practice our lessons, very friendly staff, I really recommend this English school

I did an internship at this school. I really liked my time there and I enjoyed handing out with the students and staff after school.

Totally overpriced.Very poor level of education.What they say in their advertising has nothing to do with reality.Do not waste your time and money .Almost all,like 80% of the students with whom i studied were dissatisfied.Definitely not recommend it.
